[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for When Calls the Heart Season 11 Episode 5 “Stronger Together.”] Lee (Kavan Smith) just needed to not want to be mayor to get the position, it seems, on When Calls the Heart. With Mike (Ben Rosenbaum) feeling very much like a little brother while negotiating with Benson Hills’ mayor, his sister Maisie (Samantha Ferris), Lee finds himself given the job. “It’s probably a double-edged sword because obviously he ran for mayor before and didn’t win. So I think he feels winning this way is a little cheap,” Smith tells TV Insider as part of our weekly When Calls the Heart aftershow, Heart Beats. “But then I think after reflection, he probably thinks sometimes that’s just the way the cookie crumbles and you got to take it when it happens,” he continues. “Lee just decides to magnanimously slide into the role because it is sort of what he sees for himself.

Before Hearties check out the upcoming Wcth “Stronger Together” Video Preview, what is this episode about? According to the synopsis, “Hickam (Ben Rosenbaum) and Lee (Kavan Smith) clash with the mayor of Benson Hills, and Gowen (Martin Cummins) suggests a solution with huge implications for the town.

Supernatural was a beloved series, but it mostly revolved around white men. The original show focused on Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) in the first few seasons. Then Castiel (Misha Collins) was introduced in season 4. The demon everyone loves, Crowley (Mark Sheppard), was introduced in season 5, and the son of God, Jack (Alexander Calvert), was introduced in the season 12 finale. There were some women in the early seasons, Jo (Alona Tal) and Ellen (Samantha Ferris), but they were killed off in season 5. In later seasons, more female characters were introduced, but none had a central role.

While the original show revolved around primarily white men and had white female side characters, The Winchesters aims to fix that problem. It introduced a more diverse cast right from the pilot. After more than two years in development, a reboot of The 4400 TV series has been ordered by The CW.  The network gave the remake a straight-to-series order, meaning that a pilot has not been produced.

Airing on USA Network from July 2004 until September 2007, The 4400 series stars Joel Gretsch, Jacqueline McKenzie, Mahershala Ali, Laura Allen, Patrick Flueger, Megalyn Echikunwoke, Chad Faust, Kaj-Erik Eriksen, Samantha Ferris, Jenni Baird, Brooke Nevin, Conchita Campbell, Karina Lombard, Billy Campbell, and Peter Coyote. The story begins as a mysterious ball of light deposits a group of exactly 4,400 people near Mount Rainer in Washington state. 500,000 children disappear every year. Most of them turn back up, but 1,000 vanish without a trace. That is the social premise that we walk into, and we already know “The Tall Man” is, at least, partly responsible for this number. Or is he?

From the black screen comes a concerned and bewildered Lieutenant Dodd (the ever grizzled Stephen McHattie), who’s in a cave, looking for something, someone(s). He returns to a bruised, bloody and broken Jessica Biel, or Julia Denning, the widow of the town’s esteemed doctor. He couldn’t find “him,” or the others. And whoosh, we jump to 36 hours earlier.

We land in a dead town, a small Washington hovel named Cold Rock (that doesn’t exist), and it’s hard...

Remember the name Pascal Laugier. While virtually unknown to most of the movie going public, he’s been a name that horror fans have been paying close attention to since he’s debuted on the scene with The House Of Voices and Martyrs. His newest feature, The Tall Man, is a much bigger film, with a larger budget and larger star power, with Jessica Biel leading a cast that includes Stephen McHattie, Jodell Ferland and Samantha Ferris.

Based on its marketing, one would expect your run of the mill slasher flick, with Biel running and screaming from “The Tall Man” in skimpy outfits. But, the advertisements lie. This is not that film. This is what I expected, for sure, but what I got was not an easy film, not at all what I expected when I sat down to watch it. This is exactly what Laugier wants. If you should...

I went into this film knowing nothing beyond the fact it was built around an urban legend about an entity that steals children in the night. Right a way I found myself drawn in by its high quality presentation and authentically creepy and interesting story.
