Jason Statham is the darling of streaming right now, and another of his decade-old action thrillers is back on top with the 2008 heist movie The Bank Job holding a strong position near the top of the Starz global movie chart. Led by the ever-popular Brit and directed by Roger Donaldson, the plot centers on a real-life 1971 robbery that took place in London and has baffled authorities for decades and is the perfect vehicle for Statham, even if he doesn’t get to go vigilante this time around.
Being inspired by true events, the film was a more intriguing title in Statham’s catalog of gangster movies and no-brainer action flicks, and that seemed to help it become a box office success and made it one of Statham’s most underrated and overlooked performances. The plot sees Statham playing small-time crook Terry Leather, who takes on a job without expecting to...

Made on a budget of $30 million, the action thriller Atomic Blonde earned $100 million at the box office and was meant to launch a franchise, with screenwriter Kurt Johnstad saying he envisioned the story as a trilogy. But, seven years after Focus Features (a division of Universal Pictures) released the film, a sequel has still not made it into production – and during an interview with The Direct, director David Leitch revealed what the hold-up is: Atomic Blonde 2 has gotten caught up in rights issues.
Atomic Blonde was a passion project for star Charlize Theron, who produced the film through her company Denver and Delilah Productions. Denver and Delilah started developing Atomic Blonde 2 in 2018, and in 2020 Theron revealed that the sequel was set up at the Netflix streaming service. That was the last we heard of it… until this new update from Leitch.

Action movies are some of the best, most entertaining pieces of cinema in the film industry, delivering a steady stream of high-octane violence to audiences. In 2014, the genre was forever changed when Keanu Reeves debuted as the titular lead of John Wick, casting him as a former Mafia assassin on a revenge mission against the man who killed his dog. Known for its stylish cinematography, brilliant fight choreography, likable hero and great characters, John Wick raised the bar for what constitutes a good action movie.
Since the release of John Wick, major film studios have produced intense action movies more often than ever before, leaving behind the generic shoot-em-up flicks of the past and adopting a more contemporary approach to filmmaking. The genre has since gained more depth, often tinged with the likes of comedy, horror, war and other complimentary genres. Ranging from World War II tales of vengeance to...

You have no doubt heard the phrase "stranger than fiction" before, but seldom has that statement rung more genuine than with the real-life story behind one of Jason Statham's most underrated and forgotten thrillers, The Bank Job. In 2008, director Roger Donaldson helmed this bombastic heist film, which based the details of its story on the infamous 1971 Baker Street Robbery that transpired in London, England.
In The Bank Job, the film's titular heist is masterminded by a woman named Martine Love (Saffron Burrows), a former model turned criminal who convinces a team of like-minded individuals to rob a bank containing a series of safe deposit boxes, some of which hold within them significantly compromising images. Along with those very personal items, experts estimate that the thieves made off with an additional 1.25 to 3 million. The true purpose of this daring heist remains shrouded in mystery, but if The Bank Job is to be believed,...

Years later, some are still wondering why exactly Gary Oldman's Jackson Lamb killed James Faulkner's Charles Partner back in Slow Horses Season 1.
The hit Apple TV+ drama is back for Season 4, continuing the ever-unfolding exploits of Slough House, an MI5 unit where the renowned intelligence agency sends all its leftovers.
Leading this group has, at least as far as the series is concerned, always been Oldman's curmudgeonly Lamb. While looking like a drunken, down-on-his-luck, agent, Lamb has his moments of always knowing when to make the right decision for the rest of his cast of agents (read more about the Slow Horses cast here).

Shudder and IFC Midnight are launching microbudget Skinamarink on a not-so-micro 629 screens, giving the viral horror pic a major push after a well-received premiere back at Fantasia-fest that just kept snowballing with strong reviews and social media love.
“I was over the moon. For a horror filmmaker in Canada, [Fantasia] is like getting a Cannes screening,” says first-time filmmaker Kyle Edward Ball about the leadup to this weekend’s buzzy specialty opening. He shot the 15k feature at his parents’ home in Edmonton, Canada.
In it, two children wake up in the middle of the night to find their father is missing and all the windows and doors in their home have vanished. “I’d had a nightmare when I was little. I was in my parents’ house, my parents were missing, and there was a monster. And lots of people have shared this exact same dream,” Ball tells Deadline.

Screen Rant is thrilled to present an exclusive clip from Saban Films' upcoming action thriller Repeater. The new movie follows John Smith (Paul Sidhu), the skilled hitman whose recent messy job has drawn the wrong kind of attention. No longer in the good graces of his employer, Smith accepts a high-stakes open contract set up by his handler, Edgar Mann (Corbin Bernsen).
With Smith hunting down a new target in the border towns of Mexico, the hacker-activist Jean Rousseau (Nick Moran) has a poorly timed crisis of conscience. Now, with a target on both their backs, Smith and Rousseau must outmaneuver gangs, Smith's fellow contract killers Botha (Gary Daniels) and Sykes (Kristanna Loken), and the powerful people that Rousseau has threatened to expose. Repeater will join an impressive line-up of December theatrical releases with its debut in select theaters on December 9 followed by an On Demand and digital release on...

"Hell shall come to Earth." Samuel Goldwyn Films has released the full trailer for a sci-fi horror film called The Devil Conspiracy, which is set to hit theaters in mid-January. They're hoping this one will be one of the big horror releases in January, since it's always that time of the year when not-that-great movies can end up becoming hits. The plot involves a biotech company creating a technique to clone the greatest minds and figures from history. However, the company is run by a cabal of Satanists whose ultimate goal is to resurrect Lucifer himself. They plan to do this by offering up Jesus once they've cloned him from a sample of his DNA found on his shroud. Let the religious battles ensue. The film stars Alice Orr-Ewing, Joe Doyle, Eveline Hall, Peter Mensah, Joe Anderson, Brian Caspe, and James Faulkner. This looks so hyper-stylized, with so many epic...

"Do whatever it takes." Saban Films has revealed a trailer for an indie action thriller titled Repeater, from action director R. Ellis Frazier. Unfortunately this isn't a time loop sci-fi, it's one of these dime-a-dozen trash action films they're dropping all the time these days. "Find. Kill. Repeat." For hit man Smith, these are the only words to live by. But a botched job forces him to take a high-stakes open contract arranged by his handler. Smith's latest target? The hacker-activist Rousseau, who has run afoul of corrupt corporations and powerful men like Silver. In the border towns of Mexico, Smith confronts local gangs, competing contract killers Botha and Sykes, and a crisis of conscience with deadly consequences. The film stars Paul Sidhu, Kristanna Loken, Nick Moran, James Faulkner, with Corbin Bernsen and Gary Daniels. Ugh this looks as generic and as forgettable as they come, everything is so derivative and uninteresting.

Melbourne, Oct 24 (Ians) Former India skipper Virat Kohli would certainly have left Pakistani fans in a daze and the Indian cricket aficionados celebrating Diwali a day earlier with his unbeaten 82-run knock at the packed Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday.
No words are enough to describe the feat and the cricketer himself indicated he was amazed by what he had achieved. Kohli has been one of the best chase masters across the five T20 World Cup campaigns he has been part of, scoring 541 runs at a strike rate of 135.92.
Dismissed only twice in his 10 knocks, the 33-year-old’s latest match-winning effort means his average has soared to a mindboggling 270.50. Outside of a 2 not out against Scotland coming in at the end of their winning chase in 2021, Kohli’s lowest score is 23 (27 balls) in Nagpur back in 2016.

Hounded, also released as Hunted outside the UK, is the latest cinematic variation on The Most Dangerous Game. It takes elements from films like Don’t Breathe, Nefarious, and Turkey Shoot then adds the very upper-class British tradition of fox hunting. The result is a not-so-subtle survival horror metaphor for class warfare.
Leon and his brother Chaz along with their partners Vix and Tod have a good racket going on. Gregory, the local antique dealer hires them to rob his own customers. It’s good money for a quick in and out, grabbing the one item of value he wants.
Having made enough to send Chaz to college, Leon is ready to retire. The others however want one more job to set themselves up.

One of this year’s most engaging British horror films, a hit at Frightfest and due to be released in digital formats on Halloween, Hounded is the story of a group of young, working class London thieves commissioned to go out into the countryside and steal from the rich. It boasts some great performances, especially from Malachi Pullar-Latchman and Hannah Traylen, and it feels very topical in its approach to class politics. On only their second job, the thieves find themselves set up, and they’re dumped in a field in order to be hunted by red-coated aristocrats with a pack of hounds. Whilst films about the hunting of humans are not exactly new, director Tommy Boulding successfully sells us the idea that this is a whole new world for his young protagonists, and he’s full of praise for...

Featuristic Films has unveiled an exclusive first look at the feature documentary “Afghanistan.” It follows filmmaker James Glancy, a former British Royal Marine Commando who was decorated in 2012 for his actions in combat, as he returns to Afghanistan with a small, handpicked team to help him answer the question that has haunted him over the past decade: Was it worth it?
