Fry, Leela and Bender are back. Hulu has unveiled the trailer for Season 12 of the revival of “Futurama,” set to premiere July 29 on the streamer.

The crew embarks on different adventures in the new season, including birthday party games to the death, A.I. friends and enemies, the next chapter in Fry and Leela’s romance and more.

John Dimaggio, BIlly West, Katey Sagal, Tress MacNeille, Maurice Lamarche, Lauren Tom, Phil Lamar and David Herman all return to the animated sci-fi series. Created by Matt Groening and developed by Groening and David X. Cohen, “Futurama” comes from executive producers including Groening, Cohen, Ken Keeler and Claudia Katz.

Kenneth Branagh tells us that he has follow-ups in mind for his Christmas film, In The Bleak Midwinter (also known as A Midwinter’s Tale).

In 1995, Kenneth Branagh wrote and directed a low budget Christmas comedy by the name of In The Bleak Midwinter. An ensemble piece that he tackled between the giant productions of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and his screen take on Hamlet, it’s such a charming movie, and a very, very funny one.

After years of trying, we managed to put on a very special screening of the film in London this month, and afterwards were delighted to be joined by Kenneth Branagh for a Q&a. Not just Branagh: cast members Julia Sawalha, Michael Maloney, Nicholas Farrell, Gerard Horan and Mark Hadfield were surprise guests on the evening.

Towards the end of the conversation, I asked Branagh to give us the exclusive on a possible sequel.

Exclusive: Signora Volpe is heading back to Italy.

The series, which stars Emilia Fox as a British spy in Italy, has been renewed for Season 2 at AMC Networks’ Acorn TV.

It comes a year after the series launched three feature-length episodes. It is produced by ITV Studios-backed production company Route 24, which is behind Sky’s The Midwich Cuckoos.

Exclusive: James D’Arcy and Ellyn Daniels (Funny Girls) are starring in an off-the-shelf comedy series from Burn These Words, a new UK production outfit established by former advertising executive Will O’Connor.

Created, written, and directed by comedian and actress Daniels, The Show tells the darkly comic story of sitcom star Hayley Harris creating a one-woman stage show following the death of her mother in North Carolina. It draws on Daniels’ own experience of staging a one-woman show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

D’Arcy features as Harris’ brother, Edward, while other cast includes Nicholas Farrell. The Show was entirely financed and produced by Burn These Words during the pandemic.

Yes, it’s schmaltzy, very schmaltzy, but with strong performances by Toni Collette and Damian Lewis the odds are that you’ll love it

Six years ago I found myself gripped by the overwhelmingly likable documentary Dark Horse, which told the amazing true story of Janet Vokes, a former whippet breeder and pigeon fancier from the depressed Welsh village of Cefn Fforest who organised a community syndicate to buy a racehorse. The drinkers at Jan’s local chipped in a weekly £10 sub and their horse, symbolically called Dream Alliance, wound up winning the Welsh Grand National, basically making it the Seabiscuit of the valleys.

I predicted at the time that this would be remade as a fiction feature with Imelda Staunton as Jan and Jim Broadbent as her hangdog husband Brian. Well, actually it’s Toni Collette and Owen Teale, with Damian Lewis playing Howard Davies, the local tax accountant...

Lionsgate's Spiral: From the Book of Saw was able to win its second consecutive box office weekend in a row with $4.5 million. The studio is now reporting that Spiral has brought the Saw franchise, which includes 9 installments, to over $1 billion in box office revenue. To date, Spiral has generated just over $19 million globally. The horror movie stars Chris Rock, Max Minghella, Marisol Nichols, and Samuel L. Jackson, and has received praise from critics for its new direction, though it has left some critics divided as to whether or not it fully succeeded in reinventing the franchise.

The ninth movie in the Saw franchise was originally scheduled to open in theaters back in May 2020, but was delayed, due to the pandemic. A lot has changed in a year, and more and more movie theaters are welcoming guests back all over the United States, with restrictions beginning to subside in certain markets.

Warner Bros has debuted a new trailer for the upcoming feel-good story ‘Dream Horse’ featuring Toni Collette with a Welsh accent.

The story follows Jan Vokes, a cleaner and bartender, who recruits her initially reluctant husband Brian and local accountant Howard Davies to help her bring together a syndicate of local people to breed a foal – which they name Dream Alliance. On the racetrack, he proves himself to be more than a match for the multi-million-pound racehorses he comes up against – a true working-class champion, taking on the establishment at their own game. But much more than this, Dream begins to alter the lives of everyone in the syndicate, not least Jan’s. In the first trailer for “Dream Horse,” Toni Collette plays an ordinary Welsh woman with aspirations for something greater. So she gathers her community to contribute the money to buy a racing horse and watches her dreams become a reality.

Euros Lyn’s film is based on the true story of Jan Vokes, who successfully bred a champion race horse named Dream Alliance against all odds in coordination with the people in her small town. Vokes convinced her neighbors to contribute 10 quid a week for two years until they could afford it, and their investment paid off big time.

The film premiered at Sundance to acclaim and a few tears of joy, including from Collette herself.

“I’m so proud of you. It seems like anything is possible,” she says to the horse after raising it from a foal.

Louise Osmond’s 2015 Sundance audience winner “Dark Horse” was one of those documentaries that played like a crowdpleasing fiction, its real-life tale of underdog triumph had such a conventionally satisfying narrative arc. And indeed, the new “Dream Horse” proves that same material is indeed ready-made for dramatization.

Euros Lyn’s feature springs few true surprises within its familiar genre, one that U.K. filmmakers have specialized in at least since “The Full Monty.” Still, this is a well-cast, artfully handled effort that exercises sufficient restraint to really earn its requisite laughter and tears.

HBO Max has picked the U.S. rights to British crime drama White House Farm starring The Irishman’s Stephen Graham and Black ’47’s Freddie Fox.

The WarnerMedia-owned streaming service will air the six-part series in the States next year after striking a deal with All3Media International.

It is the latest British title snapped up by the streamer, following deals with BBC Studios for Doctor Who as well as Ricky Gervais’ The Office, Top Gear, Luther, The Honorable Woman, Pure, Trigonometry, Stath Lets Flats, Home and Ghosts.

The deal is for U.S. rights and the film tells the true story of Jan Vokes, a Welsh cleaner and bartender, who decides to breed and rear a race horse. She persuades her neighbors and friends to contribute financially to the scheme. The group’s unlikely investment plan pays off as the horse rises through the ranks and puts them in a race for the national championship.

Bleecker’s films include the Oscar-nominated “Trumbo” and “Captain Fantastic,” as well as Steven Soderbergh’s “Lucky Logan.” Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

White Chamber is a surprisingly clever sci-fi film from writer director Paul Raschid, who despite confining most of the action around a sealed boxed room, manages to build a tense atmosphere filled with several twists and drama.

During the initial events in the film it looks as though the action is going to be confined in the one room, creating a similar claustrophobic feel to films such as Cube (1997). We are introduced to a woman who wakes up inside a room called the white chamber. A highly sophisticated boxed cell in which the environment can be manipulated at the touch of a screen. Such as increasing the temperature to an unbearable dry heat or decreasing it to a freezing point below zero – as well as some additional unexpected surprises.

“I spent a lot of time reviewing the silent films for crowd scenes –the way extras move, evolve, how the space is staged and how the cameras capture it, the views used,” Nolan said earlier this year when it came to the creation of his WWII epic Dunkirk, referencing films such as Intolerance, Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans, and Greed, as well as the films of Robert Bresson.

Throughout the entire month of July, if you’re in the U.K., you are lucky enough to witness a selection of these influences in a program at BFI Southbank. Running from 1-31 July, BFI Southbank are delighted to present a season of films which have inspired director Christopher Nolan’s new feature Dunkirk (2017), released in cinemas across the UK on Friday 21 July.

Christopher Nolan Presents has been personally curated by the award-winning director and will offer audiences unique insight into the films which influenced his hotly anticipated take on one of the key moments of WWII.

The season will include a special preview screening of Dunkirk on Thursday 13 July, which will be presented in 70mm and include an introduction from the director himself.

At first, there is a bit of a familiar taste to this true-life wartime tale. But it becomes something tougher. The film is, moreover, an interesting reminder of something that the British prefer to overlook assomething it doesn’t quite fit into the Churchillian narrative of never surrendering: the Nazi occupation of British territory – the Channel Islands. It wasn’t just the French who suffered the misery of occupation, and the sordid nightmare of people pursuing petty grudges with anonymous letters to the Nazi authorities. Jenny Seagrove gives a fierce and capable performance as Louisa Gould, a Jersey woman who hid a fugitive Russian slave-worker, nicknamed Bill (Julian Kostov). An emotionally affecting and inspiring trailer for the biographical film Another Mother’s Son has been released. The film stars Judge John Deed actress, Jenny Seagrove as Louisa Gould – one of the first recipients of Her Majesty’s British Hero of the Holocaust Awards in March 2010.

Louisa Gould was a shopkeeper in Jersey during the Second World War, in charge of handing out rations to those in the only British territory to fall under the control of the Third Reich. After learning of her son’s death in battle she takes under her wing a young Russian Pow who escaped a German Prison camp despite her family’s concerns. Singer/songwriter, and ex-Boyzone member, Ronan Keating plays her brother Harold Gould. He is no stranger to acting following his role as Guy in the West End show, Once, which earned him rave reviews.

Altamira is a cave in northern Spain in which, in the late 1870s, the first prehistoric paintings were discovered… or perhaps we should say rediscovered. They may have been stumbled upon first by a shepherd named Modesto Cubillas, but Finding Altamira focuses on gentleman scholar and scientist Marcelino Sanz de Sautuola (Antonio Banderas: The 33, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water) and his eight-year-old daughter Maria (Allegra Allen), after she follows a dog into the cave and becomes enchanted by the “moving” pictures of bison and other impressive creatures on the rock walls and ceiling.

The Romanian government is considering tax incentives to attract more foreign producers to shoot in the country.

Speaking at a workshop today as part of the Transilvania International Film Festival’s (Tiff) industry programme, festival president Tudor Giurgiu said that tax incentives were included in draft proposals for amending the Cinema Law.

These proposals were recently submitted to the Ministry of Culture and other government ministries as part of the consultation process “to create a more healthy climate for the film industry in Romania”.

They also aim to revamp and strengthen national film fund Cnc so it can play a more strategic role in the nation’s audiovisual landscape; identify additional sources of funding such as production, distribution and exhibition; make the decision-making process more transparent; and encourage more support for minority co-productions.

BBC America has announced its new Thirteen TV series premieres Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 10:00pm Et/Pt. The five-part series kicks off the week after Orphan Black's fourth season finale. Thirteen is written by creator Marnie Dickens and directed by China Moo-Young and Vanessa Casill, with Elizabeth Kilgarriff executive producing.

NBC is developing an adaptation of Anthony Horowitz's Collision, which aired in November, 2009, on ITV and Utv, as a five-episode event series. In the Us, an edited version of the original series aired on PBS, in two parts. Horowitz will serve as show runner on the new, Us version, and reportedly will write the first two episodes.

My Mad Fat Diary actress Jodie Comer has signed up to star in a brand new BBC Three series.

Thirteen sees Comer playing 26-year-old Ivy Moxam, who escapes from the cellar that's been her prison for the last 13 years and returns home to her family.

The psychological drama is written by Marnie Dickens and directed by Vanessa Caswill and China Moo-Young.

Incarnations of the Doctor are a bit like British prime ministers. They usually last four to five years in real time and, despite having different faces, a cynic could say that they're all pretty much the same beneath the surface. But that's the stuff of Media Studies dissertations, in fact, Doctor Who has a far dimmer view of the UK executive in the show itself.

Over the course of fifty-odd years, the office of prime minister has been both the target and agent of satire and parody in a show that deals with an onslaught of alien activity on British soil in the past, present and future.

Now that the film has already seen a release in the UK, it's time for Us audiences to get familiar with director James Kent’s new film Testament of Youth. The film is based on Vera Brittain’s First World War memoir of the same name and stars Alicia Vikander as Vera Brittain. I'm not familiar with the source material but this seems like a handsomely photographed period piece that's, as far as I can tell, competently executed on just about every level besides that as well. Lionsgate UK just released a new trailer for James Kent’s Testament of Youth. The film is based on Vera Brittain’s First World War memoir of the same name and stars Alicia Vikander as Vera Brittain herself. Vikander is joined by Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington who plays her fiancé, Roland Leighton. It’s unfortunate that the film’s only got a January 16th UK release at the moment because this new Testament of Youth international trailer is an especially moving one. Testament of Youth: Remembrance for a Lost Generation has released a new trailer.

Alicia Vikander and Game of Thrones' Kit Harington star in the adaptation of Vera Brittain's World War I memoir.

Emily Watson, Hayley Atwell, Colin Morgan, Taron Egerton, Joanna Scanlan, Alexandra Roach, Jonathan Bailey, Anna Chancellor, Nicholas Le Prevost, Nicholas Farrell, Dominic West and Miranda Richardson also feature in the James Kent-directed film.

Vikander stars as Brittain as she struggles against the early 20th century's strict ideas of a 'woman's place'.

She falls for Roland Leighton (Harington) only to find their lives torn asunder by the war.

Testament of Youth will be released on January 16, 2015 in the UK. A Us release date is yet to be announced.

Principal photography has begun on period drama Altamira, directed by Hugh Hudson (Chariots of Fire, Greystoke) and starring Antonio Banderas.

Production will take place on location in Northern Spain.

The English-language production also stars Golshifteh Farahani, Nicholas Farrell, Henry Goodman, Pierre Niney, Clément Sibony, Tristan Ulloa, Irene Escolar and Rupert Everett. British actress Allegra Allen makes her film debut.

The screenplay is by Olivia Hetreed (Girl with a Pearl Earring; Wuthering Heights) and Jose Luis Lopez-Linares. José Luis Alcaine (The Skin I Live In) is the cinematographer.

Producers are Lucrecia Botín, Alvaro Longoria from Spain’s Morena Films and Andy Paterson from the UK’s Sympathetic Ink. Alexandra Lebret, of France’s Mare Nostrum co-produces with Laura Bickford as executive producer.

Golden Globe winner Ian McShane is well known to TV fans on both sides of the ocean. He’s successfully created a niche for himself as a fiendish villain in shows such as Pillars of the Earth, Deadwood, and let’s not forget his memorable performance as Judas in Jesus of Nazareth. However, for anyone in England over the age of 35, the first thing that comes to mind when you say “Ian McShane,” is Lovejoy. The popular BBC series debuted in 1986 and was arguably the first real dramedy on British TV. Despite initial ratings success, it along with other shoes — including Doctor Who — was put on hiatus and fans had to wait five years for the second season of the show. On 2 September, Lovejoy season two comes to the U.S. on DVD, while seasons one and two are available on Acorn TV.

2014 marks the hundredth anniversary of the outbreak of World War I. The BBC have produced a whole array of dramas and documentaries to mark the occasion and the newest of those shows debuted tonight. The Crimson Field tells the tale of a group of doctors and nurses — both professionals and volunteers — manning a field hospital in the early days of the war.

The episode began when three young volunteer nurses arrived in France. There was the girl who tried too hard, the flighty one and the introverted girl. They soon encountered the stern Matron (Hermione Norris) who was less than impressed with their bedside manner. You could have been forgiven for thinking you were watching Jenny, Trixie and Chummy arriving at Nonnatus House were it not for the fact that the patients they were attending to were dressed in military fatigues and housed in tents.
