The 1992 "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "The Inner Light" has an intriguing sci-fi premise. While merrily soaring through the galaxy, the U.S.S. Enterprise happens upon a very ancient alien probe of unknown origin. Without warning, the probe beams a twinkling glimmer of light onto the Enterprise's bridge, striking Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) right in the brain. Picard passes out on the floor and Dr. Crusher (Gates McFadden) is unable to revive him. Picard wakes up on a distant planet he doesn't recognize. He's wearing alien clothes and being addressed by a woman named Eline (Margot Rose) who claims to be his wife. Picard is told that his name is actually Kamin and that he has suffered a memory lapse. The "Picard" he recalls was only a dream, and he has actually always lived on this planet, Kataan.

Patrick Stewart writes in his new memoir, “Making It So,” that Paramount executives wanted him to audition for the role of Captain Jean-Luc Picard in “Star Trek: The Next Generation” with a wig on, which required his then-wife Sheila Falconer to ship a hairpiece from London to Los Angeles.
“Right as I was boarding my plane at Heathrow, my London agent called Sheila at home and notified her that the Paramount people had been in touch, asking if I owned a hairpiece, and if I did, could I bring it to the audition?” Stewart writes (via Insider). “Sheila diligently retrieved my ‘audition wig’ from its space in my wardrobe and boxed it up, whereupon a British Airways representative collected it and placed it on a later flight to Los Angeles.”
“I do not know if my hairpiece flew first class,” he continues. “But by Sunday, it had arrived, and I...

Actor Patrick Stewart had to have therapy after “losing his way” in his 50s and wishes his dad was still around today to talk about their strained relationship. The 83-year-old veteran actor had recently split from wife Sheila Falconer, with whom he has Daniel, 56, and 51-year-old Sophie, in the early 1990s and soon turned to alcohol and pills to cope but found his way out of the dark time with professional help, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
Writing in his new memoir, ‘Making It So’, he said: “I felt my life had lost its way. Sleeping pills, yes. Alcohol, yes. They became a part of my life. But, eventually, I became able to deal with that. Again, that’s the advantage of beautiful therapy – that you can talk to someone.”
“Of course, most of the time they say, ‘And how did that make you feel? What was that like?’ You know,...

Born to humble beginnings, Sir Patrick Stewart has worked his way up to become one of the most recognizable stars today.
The veteran stage actor was prolific as a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company for over a decade. However, it wasn't until the late 1980s that Stewart broke out on screen, portraying Captain Jean-Luc Picard on "Star Trek: The Next Generation." Riding that wave, he was cast as the iconic Professor Charles Xavier in the film adaptation of the "X-Men" comic books. This summer, Stewart reprises the role of the mutant Xavier once again in Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Days of Future Past."
From the actor's early work as a journalist to his "bodacious man" award, here are 27 things you probably don't know about Patrick Stewart.
1. Stewart was born in Yorkshire, England to Gladys Barrowclough, a weaver and textile worker, and Alfred Stewart, a Regimental Sergeant Major in the British Army.
