The Transformers franchise was born in 1984 when Hasbro launched the toy line, which quickly became a pop culture phenomenon. The immediate popularity of the franchise obscured the fact that the toy line was preceded by another transforming robot toy line, the GoBots, which was released by Tonka in 1983.
In 1984, the first and only GoBots animated television series, Challenge of the GoBots, debuted in syndication on September 8, 1984, approximately one week prior to the debut of the eponymous Transformers animated series. However, the most climactic battle between the GoBots and Transformers took place in 1986, with the release of the GoBots animated film GoBots: Battle of the Rock Lords, which was followed, less than five months later, by the Transformers animated film The Transformers: The Movie.

Dwayne Johnson is set to star in Disney blockbuster Jungle Cruise alongside Emily Blunt next July, but this July you can watch his first action-adventure Disney movie that was made over a decade ago. As it was just before The Rock became the franchise gold dust that he is today, you may never have heard of it, but Johnson fans should definitely give it a go when it arrives on Disney Plus next month.
2009’s Race to Witch Mountain is due to become available on the streaming service from Friday, July 3rd. A remake of 1975’s Escape to Witch Mountain, the movie stars AnnaSophia Robb and Alexander Ludwig as teens Sara and Seth, who are secretly extraterrestrials with psychic powers. As with the original, the plot sees the kids trying to get to Witch Mountain, where their spaceship is hidden, before nefarious forces get hold of them. Race, however, adds in Johnson’s character,...

Thanks to The Omen (1976) and little Damien’s watchdog, Hollywood figured they could mine some horror from our canine friends, on the assumption that there’s something inherently evil to exploit. Except…they’re not. Are they sometimes vicious? Definitely. But I would hardly call dogs evil, especially ones allegedly in favor with Satan. Which brings us to todays’ Tube, as TV naturally had to take a shot at demonizing our four legged friends, a task at which Devil Dog: The Hound of Hell (1978) fails spectacularly. It is however, a blast and more fun than a bowl full of kibble.
Originally airing on Halloween night of 1978 on CBS, Devil Dog was up against Linda Blair and her demonic cousin in Summer of Fear over on NBC, a true dilemma for horror fans as both satisfy in different ways. But since I’ve already covered that Wes Craven helmed Ya adaptation...

Breathless Disney fantasy adventure about two children with extraordinary mental powers who find themselves pursued by an evil tycoon, desperate to harvest their telekinetic gifts for his own nefarious means. Veteran Ray Milland plays the villain to a tee, while Donald Pleasance offers sneaky support as his henchman, but it's 70s child stars Kim Richards and Ike Eisenmann who steal the honours as the kids who just want to find a family to call their own. An oldie-but-goodie.

We start the Top 7. You finish the Top 10.
Sometimes, an alien teen has to learn to make his way on Earth. Other times, they have very human problems while still on their home planet. Whether he wants to just fit in or she wants to see the world, alien teens are just like the terrestrial variety. This weekend’s I Am Number Four tries to show us, once again, just how hard it can be to be an alien teen. You have to get good grades in school and run away from a killer trying to track you down. Below are some of my favorites.
7. Lem from Planet 51 (2009)
Recap: Lem (voiced by Justin Long) is just a geeky alien teen trying to get noticed by the girl next door, Neera (voiced by Jessica Biel).Until the day that a strange alien from Earth (voiced by Dwayne Johnson) lands in...

Just as Return From Witch Mountain lost a little of the magic that made the original Escape to Witch Mountain so special, the series continues to atrophy with the third entry in the conceptual story with Race to Witch Mountain. Escape to Witch Mountain shrouded its story in mystery by keeping the children’s history concealed from both the antagonists, the audience and the children themselves. The film as a whole was a testament to discovering identity, a feat which Return From Witch Mountain couldn’t quite replicate as it became nothing but a film to demonstrate how good Disney had become at its cable-based stunt work. So what benchmark does that leave for Disney to score with Race to Witch Mountain?
Whatever it is, Disney definitely doesn’t quite achieve it.
Jack Bruno (Dwayne Johnson) drives a taxi cab in Las Vegas and, in doing so, meets a lot of interesting people.

The new child stars of the Disney remake talks about the new film, working with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and future films
Walt Disney Studios relived their 1975 classic Escape to Witch Mountain with a new modern-day spin in the popular remake Race to Witch Mountain, which hits the shelves on DVD and a Blu-ray/DVD combo set on August 4. This new remake got a revamped cast with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Carla Gugino and even the grown-up child stars of the original film, Kim Richards and Ike Eisenmann. Of course, the new film also needed new child stars which they got in the wonderful combination of AnnaSophia Robb and Alexander Ludwig, who portray the alien siblings Sara and Seth. I had the chance to speak with Robb and Ludwig over the phone recently about their new film on DVD and Bd, and here's what they had to say.

Do you remember the Disney Witch Mountain movies? I thought I did, but having had the opportunity to see them again, there is much that I had forgotten. In honor of the new Witch Mountain film, Disney has released the earlier films in separate Family Classics special editions. You can watch them again, or for the first time and enjoy the story, plus state-of-the art .magic. of the 1970.s. It is not fair to compare .special effects. of older films with those of the present day, so I will not even go there. The earliest Witch Mountain film is .Escape to Witch Mountain. which begins with two children Tony (Ike Eisenmann) and Tia Malone (Kim Richards) having lost...

Disney does love itself some good child actors. Yes sir. Luckily, they found two decent ones in Kim Richards and Ike Eisenmann whom, with only minimal amounts of help, carry Escape to Witch Mountain into the echelons of 1970s classics. Full of camp and with plenty of action to keep the story going, Escape to Witch Mountain establishes its message of self-discovery and never let's up until the end.
Tony (Ike Eisenmann) and Tia (Kim Richards) have a past comparable to Jason Bourne - and trust me I wish I was joking when I make that comparison. They both know they're different from the other children and they have vague recollections of events that happened before their life at the orphanage. Unfortunately, neither of them knows what that past is. The twins are all alone with only a small map and Tia's haunting visions of a shipwreck.

I'm a bit confused by Return from Witch Mountain. In the original, there's a pretty solid theme of self-discovery (which is admittedly thrown away by the ending, but it's there). Further still, Escape to Witch Mountain set up the perfect premise for a sequel in the final five minutes. When Tia and Tony's Uncle Bene (Denver Pyle) says there are many more alien children out there waiting to find their way back to their kind, Disney essentially established a goldmine for countless sequels of the twins helping other children like themselves get home. As soon as I heard the uncle say that line I thought to myself ‘wow, that's actually a pretty smart sequel premise - well played Disney.' Now you listen here, Return to Witch Mountain will have none of that spoon-fed sequel crap - oh no - instead they...

Dwayne Johnson and the stars of Disney's 'Race to Witch Mountain' premiered their exciting family adventure in Hollywood Wednesday night -- and "The Insider" was there! "I'd never been in an action movie that had pretty cool car chase sequences," Dwayne Johnson tells "The Insider" about the film. "For me I was able to do all my own stunts -- I was like a kid in a candy store - like let's do one more take!" In theaters everywhere this Friday, 'Race to Witch Mountain' casts Dwayne as a Vegas cabbie who unwittingly becomes the protector of two siblings with paranormal powers (AnnaSophia Robb and Alexander Ludwig) on the run from the government, mobsters and even extraterrestrials! 'Escape from Witch Mountain' and 'Return from Witch Mountain' '70s star Kim Richards, who has a cameo in the new film with original co-star Ike Eisenmann, was also there for the red-carpet fun.

Chicago – The Round-Up, HollywoodChicago.com’s famous recurring column about lesser Blu-Ray and DVD titles that may have slipped through your fingers at the store recently, is in clean-up mode this week. With a DVD collection for a famous young actress, an old cartoon, a straight-to-video horror movie, and three movies with the word “Mountain” in the title, the only word that comes to mind to tie these titles together is “random”.

The “Watchmen” charge into theatres by Peter Dimako, Editor Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Watchmen,” one of the most anticipated releases ever, finally finds release this weekend in 3,611 locations nationwide. Ratings around the web from every day readers as well as writers have been positive with the majority liking the film. Two of our writers gave this a solid 4/5 ratingand were impressed with helmer Zack Snyder’s workmanship. The film stars Malin Akerman, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Carla Gugino, Billy Crudup, Patrick Wilson, Jackie Earle Haley, Matthew Goode, Stephen McHattie, Matt Frewer, Niall Matter and Sonya Salomaa. Posting a top spot is a given, the question is, how much and will the hype pay off? Naturally, since nothing would dare contend in the same weekend as “Watchmen,” it is the only wide opener of the week. The remainder of the field is limited to indie openers. Two 'Witch Mountain' vets return

Kim Richards and Ike Eisenmann, the original kid stars of Disney's 1970s Witch Mountain movies, are coming back for Race to Witch Mountain, the studio's re-imagining of the adventure tales that will star Dwayne The Rock Johnson.
Tom Everett Scott, Chris Marquette, Billy Brown and Cheech Marin also are joining the production, which is filming under director Andy Fickman. Andrew Gunn is producing.
In a nod to the original movies, Eisenmann plays a sheriff and Richards plays a waitress at a roadhouse called Ray's in a town called Stony Creek. They help a cabbie (Johnson) and his two paranormal-powered passengers (AnnaSophia Robb and Alexander Ludwig).
Scott is playing a medical specialist, Marquette is a computer specialist, and Brown is a military specialist working for the bad guy (Ciaran Hinds). Marin plays a helpful mechanic.
Richards appeared in Black Snake Moan, and Eisenmann did voice work for Howl's Moving Castle.
