People often ask me why I do what I do. Why go undercover to expose extremist Republicans like Senator Ron Johnson, Trump coup attorney John Eastman, or Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito? Can’t you just ask them for an interview?

As former President Donald Trump tries to distance himself from Project 2025, it’s becoming more clear how devastating it will be for our veterans.
The conservative personnel and policy program, intended to guide the next Republican administration, is gaining attention as the presidential campaign heats up. Despite Trump’s attempts to distance himself from its policy blueprint, he knows precisely what the project entails — and who helped put it together.
Many of Trump’s former allies and appointees are deeply embedded in Project 2025. Six of his ex-Cabinet secretaries, four former ambassadors,...

When conservative lawyers and other prominent allies of Donald Trump started floating the idea that they could launch a barrage of lawsuits to keep President Joe Biden’s name on state ballots — even if he dropped out of the 2024 race — attorneys working on or close to the Biden-Harris reelection campaign sprang into action.
The Democratic lawyers quickly realized last month they didn’t have to do all that much googling to see the Republican threat for what it really was.

Jenna Ellis, a former legal advisor to the former president, has had her law license suspended in Colorado. This action comes from her involvement in the controversial efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.
The suspension, which begins on July 2, 2024, will prevent Ellis from practicing law in Colorado for three years. This latest development adds to the growing list of repercussions faced by those who assisted the ex-president in his unprecedented attempts to challenge the election outcome.
Ellis, a licensed attorney in Colorado for over a decade, pleaded guilty last year to a felony count of aiding and abetting false statements in the Georgia election subversion case. As part of her plea agreement, she has agreed to cooperate with prosecutors in Fulton County, Georgia.
In a remorseful statement delivered to the judge during her guilty plea, Ellis acknowledged the error of her ways and stated, “If I knew then what I know now,...

The disciplinary panel of the D.C. Bar has ruled that former Trump Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark committed ethical violations when he promoted conspiracy theories about the 2020 presidential election, such as the baseless claim that smart thermostats were used to steal the election.
Clark, an environmental lawyer with no background in criminal law, was under consideration by Donald Trump for the position of acting attorney general of the United States shortly before the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. However, Trump abandoned the idea due to the threat of mass resignations from his own Justice Department appointees.
Clark appeared before the disciplinary panel over the past two weeks at risk of potential disbarment. He repeatedly invoked his Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination. The panel’s preliminary finding will now be reviewed by the D.C. Bar’s full board of professional responsibility, with the final decision on Clark...

If your lawyers advised you to commit a crime, does that exonerate you?
Former President Donald Trump intends to argue this is what happened, and that he is indeed exonerated, in the case of hush money payments made to Stormy Daniels in 2016.

Ken Block couldn’t believe it. The mild-mannered Republican elections expert had seen a lot of things in his brief work as a consultant for former President Donald Trump’s campaign, after he was hired in late 2020 to find proof of mass election fraud that could stand up in court. This, however, was special.

Three lawyers who assisted Trump lawyer Sidney Powell‘s campaign in mounting legal challenges to the 2020 election results have been charged by bar investigators in Washington, D.C. They have been accused of violating disciplinary policies and are facing disciplinary charges.
The attorneys, Juli Haller, Lawrence Joseph and Brandon Johnson, are accused of knowingly making false representations to courts about a series of lawsuits filed in the weeks following the 2020 election. These filings became public in January.
Joseph was involved in a lawsuit filed by former Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) against former Vice President Mike Pence. The lawsuit aimed to pressure Pence to use his power to alter the election outcome according to Donald Trump‘s wishes.

Georgia prosecutors have added former Vice President Mike Pence to the list of witnesses who could be called to testify in Donald Trump’s upcoming election interference Rico trial, according to a report from CNN.
More than 150 individuals, including Pence, have reportedly been included in the Fulton County witness list, which remains under seal.
While Pence was compelled by Special Counsel Jack Smith to testify before a grand jury in the Justice Department’s federal election interference case against Trump, the former vice president has so far skirted significant involvement in the Fulton County case.

In her newly published book Enough, former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson claims Rudy Giuliani groped her during her time working for former President Donald Trump.
Hutchinson, 26, who delivered testimony to the congressional committee that investigated the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, claims that Giuliani groped her on the day of the riot.
In her book, Hutchinson described meeting with Giuliani backstage at a speech of Trump’s before a mob of his supporters stormed the Capitol building in a protest against the results of the 2020 election. Update: The January 6th Committee recommended that the Justice Department pursue four criminal charges against former President Donald Trump along with others they claim helped orchestrate an effort to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
The charges include obstruction of an official proceeding, conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to make a false statement and inciting, assisting or giving aid or comfort to an insurrection.
It will be up to the Justice Department to decide whether to file charges, but the move is the first time that a former president has faced a criminal referral such as this one.
Rep,. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), who outlined the recommendations, also named for potential prosecution John Eastman, the college professor who pushed an effort to install “fake” electors in advance of the joint session of Congress to certify the election results.

Ginni Thomas, conservative political activist and wife to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, voluntarily met with the Jan. 6 committee this week, and in her testimony, claimed that she and her husband actively avoid talking about their work together. But on Friday’s episode of “The View,” the hosts weren’t buying a single word of that.
In her prepared statements to the select committee this week, Thomas said that “my husband has never spoken with me about pending cases at the Court. It’s an iron clad rule in our home,” and noted that Justice Thomas is “uninterested in politics.” As a result, “I generally do not discuss with him my day-to-day work in politics, the topics I am working on, who I am calling, emailing, texting, or meeting.”
And while “The View” host Sunny Hostin noted that it might be Ok if Justice Thomas were uninterested in politics, particularly...

Mark David Chapman, the man responsible for shooting and killing John Lennon outside his Manhattan apartment, has been denied parole for the 12th time, New York corrections officials said.
Chapman, 67, went before a parole board at the end of August, the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision said, according to NBC News.
The transcript from the 12th occasion where the killer of the famed Beatle went before the board has not been publicly available, but in previous hearings the 67-year-old had expressed remorse at what he carried out on 8 December 1980.
During his previous hearing in 2020, he described his actions on that day more than 40 years ago as “despicable” and told the board that he would have “no complaint whatsoever” if they opted to keep him behind bars for the rest of his life.
“I was too far in,” he said during an earlier parole board hearing in 2018. “I do remember having the thought of,...

He started off by noting how John Eastman, a lawyer advising then-President Donald Trump during the deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, who had pushed the idea that then-Vice President Mike Pence could overturn the results of the November 2020 election.
Oliver showed a clip of former White House lawyer Eric Herschmann recalling his reaction to the idea.
“I said, ‘Hold on a second. I want to understand what you’re saying. You’re saying that you believe that the vice president, acting as president of the Senate, can be the sole decision maker as to…who becomes the next president of the United States?'” Herschmann recalled. “And he said yes. 4th Update: Even after the attack on the Capitol on January 6th, in which Mike Pence narrowly escaped a mob, the attorney advising Donald Trump made a last-ditch effort to convince the vice president to still reject the electoral vote results.
John Eastman, who helped hatch the plan to overturn he results in favor of Joe Biden, emailed Pence’s counsel just before midnight on January 6, urging him to consider delay the count. At the time, order had been restored at the ransacked Capitol, and Pence was preparing to resume the count.
“I implore you to consider one more relatively minor violation and adjourn for 10 more days to allow the legislatures to finish their investigations, as well as to allow a full forensic audit of the massive amount of illegal activity that has occurred here,” Eastman wrote to Greg Jacob, Pence’s counsel, who testified before the January 6th Committee on Thursday.

It’s been well documented that people around former President Donald Trump advised him to do something to quell his supporters as they stormed the Capitol last Jan. 6. Instead, Trump made it worse, tweeting at 2:24 p.m. that “Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what was necessary.” The Jan. 6 committee revealed on Thursday that Chief of Staff Mark Meadows informed Trump of the riot before he sent the tweet, and that the tweet “immediately” caused rioters inside and outside of the Capitol to “surge.”

John Eastman, the former Trump lawyer who authored the “coup memo” instructing Mike Pence to block the certification of the Electoral College on Jan. 6, knew the Supreme Court was engaged in a “heated fight” about whether to entertain the president’s efforts to challenge the election results, The New York Times reported on Wednesday.
“So the odds are not based on the legal merits but an assessment of the justices’ spines, and I understand that there is a heated fight underway,” Eastman wrote to pro-Trump lawyer Kenneth Chesebro on Dec.

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-wy) previewed the next January 6th Committee hearing, saying in a Twitter post that it would focus on Donald Trump’s “relentless effort” to pressure Mike Pence to reject the electoral vote count that showed Joe Biden as the victor.
Cheney hinted that the hearing, scheduled to start on Thursday at 10 Am Et, would delve into whether Trump’s pressure violated federal law.
“As a federal judge has indicated, this likely violated two federal criminal statutes,” Cheney said. “President Trump had no factual basis for what he was doing and he had been told it was illegal. Despite this, President Trump plotted with a lawyer named John Eastman and others to overturn the outcome of the election on January 6th.”
