2024 anime brought a lot to the table, including some excellent animated battles and the return or arrival of the powerful characters who fought in them. While 2024 had all kinds of excellent non-action anime too, many fans are most keen on the action/adventure series with swords, magic, and fists. And there have been plenty of famous anime powerhouses to keep the action going.
A handful of action anime series, mostly shōnen anime in particular, thrilled anime fans throughout 2024 with their explosive antics in all four seasons. That includes overpowered isekai heroes, demon lords, wizards, tormented half-other heroes, and even martial artists who just need their fists and guts to claim victory on the battlefield. Ten particular fighters stand out as being 2024's most powerful, setting a new bar for all action anime in this decade.

One of the most fun tropes in anime is for a character to be much older than they look. A character who may look like they're in their mid 20s can actually be hundreds, or even thousands of years old, creating an entirely new dynamic for the cast to deal with. Older characters that look young are usually the wisest, most powerful people around. They've lived long enough to learn a thing or two and usually aren't too concerned with what's going around them.
While some characters are fun in their youth, other characters remain young for more sinister reasons. Characters like Muzan Kibutsuji from Demon Slayer don't stay alive to help people out. Instead, they're sticking around to live the best lives possible, and they don't care who they need to sacrifice to achieve it.

The royal families of One Piece are all distinct in both structure and beliefs. Though the Straw Hat Crew are pirates, they have gained the favor of many of these families and often work alongside princesses. While she never joins the crew like Nefertari Vivi did, Shirahoshi is undoubtedly the most powerful princess the Straw Hats work with. She and her family make great allies. The Neptune Family are all dedicated to protecting their people and trying to get them the best lives possible. They fight for the equality of fish men and the other species living under the sea. While they are facing an uphill battle because of the corrupt Celestial Dragons, the Neptune Family have always put their people first.
There have been several important figures that have fought for some sort of freedom for fishmen, but each of them usually has a different vision. Of these, the most prominent is Fisher Tiger,...

Isekai animes have more freedom than their non-isekai counterparts. By taking their main characters out of the real world and placing them in a fantasy world, the best isekai anime series can operate using their own rules. That means protagonists can live in worlds with magic, granting them abilities their previous worlds never could have. Characters like Tanya van Degurechaff from The Saga of Tanya the Evil were normal people in their past lives. In their new lives, however, they're powerful characters capable of devastating powers.
Isekai protagonists are usually granted a special power when they enter their new worlds as well, making their fights even more exciting. No matter what ability is being put on display, a good isekai fight can rival the best fights in anime. They can also set the tone for the show their in, letting everyone know just how intense things can get.

One Piece, as a shonen action anime series, has a fairly youthful cast of characters for the most part. The members of the Straw Hat Pirates crew are all roughly college-aged after the two-year time skip, with Luffy being 19 years old by the time his crew reassembled at the Sabaody Archipelago. However, not everyone in One Piece is a fresh-faced youth — many officers, captains and legendary warriors are much older. With age comes experience and influence, and some characters in One Piece hit their stride in their later years.
Some characters in One Piece are clearly depicted as elders living in their twilight years and are often written accordingly, being experienced, wise people who are set in their ways. Some of the oldest One Piece characters among the main cast don't actually look or even act their age, though, due to their personalities or medicinal expertise to look more youthful.

If you were guessing the locale of a leading regional American theater known for championing new, experimental work, you might first suggest San Francisco, Minneapolis, or Seattle. If someone prompted, "Think Texas," your mind would likely leap to Austin. Unless you were in the know about such things, you wouldn't name the Undermain Theatre, in Dallas."The Undermain is an unsung American treasure, and more people should know about it," says Len Jenkin, the Obie Award–winning, New York–based playwright whose "Port Twilight, or A History of Science" is currently enjoying its world premiere on the Undermain stage. "The Undermain is able to do a really extraordinary thing," Jenkin notes, "in that in a much more conservative town than some others in the United States, they're able to do the most adventurous kind of theater work, to do it really well, to do it imaginatively, and to keep doing it.
