One of the most fun tropes in anime is for a character to be much older than they look. A character who may look like they're in their mid 20s can actually be hundreds, or even thousands of years old, creating an entirely new dynamic for the cast to deal with. Older characters that look young are usually the wisest, most powerful people around. They've lived long enough to learn a thing or two and usually aren't too concerned with what's going around them.
While some characters are fun in their youth, other characters remain young for more sinister reasons. Characters like Muzan Kibutsuji from Demon Slayer don't stay alive to help people out. Instead, they're sticking around to live the best lives possible, and they don't care who they need to sacrifice to achieve it.

Isekai animes have more freedom than their non-isekai counterparts. By taking their main characters out of the real world and placing them in a fantasy world, the best isekai anime series can operate using their own rules. That means protagonists can live in worlds with magic, granting them abilities their previous worlds never could have. Characters like Tanya van Degurechaff from The Saga of Tanya the Evil were normal people in their past lives. In their new lives, however, they're powerful characters capable of devastating powers.
Isekai protagonists are usually granted a special power when they enter their new worlds as well, making their fights even more exciting. No matter what ability is being put on display, a good isekai fight can rival the best fights in anime. They can also set the tone for the show their in, letting everyone know just how intense things can get.

If you were guessing the locale of a leading regional American theater known for championing new, experimental work, you might first suggest San Francisco, Minneapolis, or Seattle. If someone prompted, "Think Texas," your mind would likely leap to Austin. Unless you were in the know about such things, you wouldn't name the Undermain Theatre, in Dallas."The Undermain is an unsung American treasure, and more people should know about it," says Len Jenkin, the Obie Award–winning, New York–based playwright whose "Port Twilight, or A History of Science" is currently enjoying its world premiere on the Undermain stage. "The Undermain is able to do a really extraordinary thing," Jenkin notes, "in that in a much more conservative town than some others in the United States, they're able to do the most adventurous kind of theater work, to do it really well, to do it imaginatively, and to keep doing it.
