The Battle of Britain has inspired several war films, including two strikingly similar releases in 2018 – Hurricane and 303 Squadron. Both set out to tell the story of the Polish pilots of No. 303 Squadron Raf, a group that played a crucial yet often overlooked role in Britain’s defense. Yet, despite sharing the same premise, the two films take dramatically different approaches, with only one standing out as an effective war epic.

Hurricane captures the intensity of the battle with exhilarating aerial combat scenes, all while maintaining a strong character-driven story. When it comes to screen tests, most involve the actor(s) performing a scene to the camera. Some, like the recent Superman: Legacy screen tests, also involve full costume and makeup, but when it comes to the Mission: Impossible franchise, they want to make sure you can keep up with the action. Hayley Atwell revealed to The Telegraph that her screen test for Grace in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One was two hours of stunt choreography.

Hayley Atwell performed her Mission: Impossible screen test with stunt coordinator Wade Eastwood, which she said involved “two hours of stunt choreography just to see where my natural abilities lay.” Atwell continued, “We did an unarmed combat sequence and mixed martial arts to see if I was someone who could grapple and trap or someone who was more into high kicks. [It’s to] ascertain my natural style.“

The Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One premiere is happening in Rome this afternoon, with stars, filmmakers, and press gathering to celebrate the latest chapter of the action-packed blockbuster franchise. After posing on a red carpet along the Spanish Steps, Dead Reckoning director Christopher McQuarrie began fielding questions from excited press members. Speaking with Deadline, McQuarrie commented on the likelihood of directing a film in the James Bond franchise one day.

“I like watching James Bond movies,” McQuarrie said when asked if he’d be game to help create a film in the famed 007 franchise. “The fun of those is going and getting to actually sit down and watch them, and not worry about whether or not I messed it up. I just enjoy watching them.” Adding to the conversation, McQuarrie says writing the movie and directing might not sweeten the pot. “That would come in handy,” McQuarrie said about writing the film.

Los Angeles, March 11 (Ians) Actress Hannah Waddingham, best known for her role in ‘Ted Lasso’, will be seen in ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two’.

Christopher McQuarrie, the writer of the two upcoming ‘Dead Reckoning’ films, revealed the casting on his Instagram account on Friday, reports Variety.

He captioned the photo of Waddingham with a cryptic tease, writing “#GodSpeed #DeadReckoning.”

Franchise star Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt in this summer’s seventh, and penultimate, installment of his long-standing, action-packed franchise.

Variety previously reported that he was filming the eighth movie aboard a U.S. aircraft carrier in the Adriatic Sea, which is where the photo of Waddingham appears to be taken.

‘Dead Reckoning Part One’, is set to hit theatres on July 14, 2023, and the final film, currently titled ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two’, is already scheduled less than a year later for June 28, 2024.

The worlds of “Mission: Impossible” and “Ted Lasso” have unexpectedly collided.

Next summer’s “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two” has cast Hannah Waddingham, who plays Rebecca Welton on Apple TV+’s “Ted Lasso.” Christopher McQuarrie, the writer of the two upcoming “Dead Reckoning” films, revealed the casting on his Instagram account on Friday.

He captioned the photo of Waddingham with a cryptic tease, writing “#GodSpeed #DeadReckoning.”

Vikings: Valhalla is returning to Netflix with its second season next month on January 12th. The streaming service has released a trailer and new details about what is ahead on the historical drama.

Starring Sam Corlett, Frida Gustavsson, Leo Suter, Bradley Freegard, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson , Laura Berlin, David Oakes, Pollyanna McIntosh, and Soren Pilmark, the series takes viewers to the time 100 years after the Vikings series and follows Lief Erikson (Corlett). Ethan Hunt’s next death-defying adventure won’t roll out in theaters until next summer, but Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning director Christopher McQuarrie has teased the meaning behind the vague title while speaking with Empire.

“There are many things emerging from Ethan’s past,” Christopher McQuarrie said. “‘Dead reckoning’ is a navigational term. It means you’re picking a course based solely on your last known position and that becomes quite the metaphor not only for Ethan, but several characters.” Make of that what you will, but it’s important to note that Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning is the first half of a two-parter, which McQuarries teases will be epic. “The first thing we knew was that if it’s gonna be a big two-part adventure, it’s got to be epic,” McQuarrie said. “It’s going to have to be the instalment that swallows the rest of the franchise whole.

Season two of Netflix’s Vikings: Valhalla starring Sam Corlett as Leif Eriksson will premiere on January 12, 2023. The premiere date announcement for the second season of the Vikings sequel also included the first batch of photos from the new season.

“The whole concept of Season 2 is that we take these three heroes who are in Scandinavia and blow them out of their comfort zones,” said creator/showrunner Jeb Stuart in an interview with Netflix’s Tudum. “Season 2 for Harald and Leif is a road trip: It’s Thelma and Louise on the Dnieper River. The two of them will begin this incredible journey. Freydís has to go to Pomerania, which is a very difficult environment.”

“I approach it from the chess itself,” says “The Queen’s Gambit” costume designer Gabriele Binder about how the game at the heart of the series influenced her work. Music is typically one of the final elements created for a film or TV show, but for “The Queen’s Gambit,” it was one of the first. That’s because the Netflix hit was the third collaboration between writer and director Scott Frank and composer Carlos Rafael Rivera, who first met 17 years ago when Rivera was Frank’s guitar teacher. Rivera has since scored Frank’s 2014 film “A Walk Among the Tombstones” and the Netflix limited series “Godless,” for which he won an Emmy.

On paper, Netflix's recent breakout hit miniseries The Queen's Gambit doesn't sound very exciting: Tracing the journey of chess prodigy Beth Harmon on the path to becoming a world champion with one chess match after another. Yet, the way Anya Taylor-Joy portrays Beth, and the way the matches are filmed make for as exciting viewing as watching an epic battle with swords and shields.

In an interview with IndieWire, Anya Taylor-Joy revealed that the initial plan had been for her to memorize each move for each game ahead of filming. But after arriving on set, the actress realized a much more natural and instinctive method of creating those scenes would be to learn the moves on the spot before each take.
