As these legal troubles unfold, past decisions from his career are being reexamined. One of the most notable could be his regret over passing on one of the biggest rappers in the 90s, a move that ultimately cost him. Diddy’s hesitation to sign him, dismissing him as “not marketable,” would later prove to be one of his most significant miscalculations.

/Film has been dutifully reporting on all the failed "Crow" remakes as news of their formation as dissipation came across our desks. Back in 2008, Stephen Norrington was attached. Then, in 2014, it was Corin Hardy. Andrea Riseborough was supposed to be a part of that one. In 2016, it was said that Jason Momoa was going to star in a new "Crow" remake. Then that project fell apart. Rupert Sander's remake of "The Crow" was released in late August of 2024, and it came and went without much positive fanfare. It bombed at the box office, making only $26 million on a $50 million budget, and it was panned by critics, including by /Film. This was an inauspicious reaction to a film that had been trapped in development hell for literally decades.
Speaking of development, Rob Zombie famously wrote a script for a sequel called "The Crow 2037," which would have taken the series in a sci-fi direction,...

Exclusive: Oscar winner Dustin Hoffman, André Holland, Alison Brie and Tom Sturridge are leading Alex Vlack’s feature directorial debut, the drama The Revisionist.
The production, written by Vlack, is currently shooting in Louisville, Ky.
In The Revisionist, Elise, a successful novelist, does what so many writers do: she manipulates and transforms the people in her life into the characters she needs for her story. As she blurs the line between fiction and reality, her world descends into secrets, lies, and outright betrayal. The project is an exploration of the psychological lengths to which a writer will go to achieve their art.
Pic is also produced by Vlack along with Arielle Elwes, Veronica Radaelli, Zachary Spicer, Fiona Robert and Sophia Robert. Vlack’s previous work includes directing and executive producing the documentary Still Bill about soul legend Bill Withers.

SAG-AFTRA is taking legal action against a production company for violating the collective bargaining agreement by filming a movie outside the United States in Romania.
The guild, in a lawsuit filed in California federal court on Monday, sued UFO Pictures to enforce payment of a $163,000 arbitration award intended to pay talent additional compensation on Beyond the Law.
UFO Pictures founder Micah Brandt denied the claims. “It wasn’t my production company at fault, nor does my company owe them money,” he says. “It wasn’t my company funding the project — it was a subsidiary.” He declined to name other parties involved in the matter.
In 2019, UFO Pictures signed onto SAG-AFTRA’s so-called “Ultra Low Budget Project Agreement,” which is intended for films shooting entirely in the U.S. with a maximum budget of $300,000. The contract waives and relaxes certain terms of the Cba, including minimum rates.

Prime Video's Cross includes a fantastic soundtrack that helps shape the setting, pacing, and story. Based on the best-selling books by James Patterson, Cross follows a forensic psychologist and detective named Alex Cross, who lost his wife and is raising two kids while solving mysteries. In season 1, he goes up against the Fanboy, a killer who idolizes serial killers and wants his victims to resemble them.
The Amazon Prime show has been well-received by audiences and critics alike, and fans can get excited because Cross season 2 was confirmed before the first season was ever released. The thriller succeeds because of Cross' A+ cast, the well-written story, and the songs that appear in each episode. Music plays an important role in the characterization of the Cross family, making the soundtrack integral to the narrative. Luckily, the creative team chose great songs that amplify every part of the show.

The Fast & Furious movie franchise seems to grow bigger with every new installment, and that's no different when it comes to the soundtracks, as each entry boasts a few of the very best Fast and Furious songs. With over-the-top action sequences and big-budget action, the soundtracks grow with the movies, and even the songs of the Fast and Furious films team up superstars, just like the ever-expanding casts. The songs bring together several popular artists, especially in the hip-hop and pop genres.
Over time, some of these songs have gained an iconic status, such as the titular song in There Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, which has become more popular than the film itself. I'm not the biggest fan of the "Deadpool" movies. They're less the advertised superhero parodies and more straight-up action-comedy superhero films, fourth-wall-breaking or not. They have their moments where they don't just play the genre beats, though, and the climax of the first "Deadpool" movie has two such moments.
One is when Wade (Ryan Reynolds) executes his nemesis Ajax (Ed Skrein), disregarding Colossus' (Stefan Kapičić) speech about the rare moments one gets to be a hero. Before that is a classic explosive fight of good vs. evil, complete with a damsel in distress hanging in the balance. The fight isn't as explosive as it could've been though, since Deadpool forgets his duffle bag full of guns in the taxi that he, Colossus, and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand) took to the showdown.

Rakim is regarded by generations of rap fans as The God Mc. But we may need to start referring to him as The God Mc / Producer. Sitting in his studio on a sunny July afternoon, he tells Rolling Stone that he produced “a lot” of the seminal Eric B and Rakim albums, which were in part created from a stash of loops that he would keep in tow to rap along to at park jams.
Even in the hyperbolic sphere of hip-hop, Rakim’s microphone supremacy can’t be overstated...

It’s been a long time coming, but a reboot of the 1994 cult classic film The Crow (which was based on the comic book series created by James O’Barr) will finally be making its way out into the world on August 23rd, which is when Lionsgate will be giving the film a theatrical release. With that release date swiftly approaching, we figured we should gather together all the information we have on this movie… and here it is, Everything We Know About The Crow 2024:
Not A Remake
Lionsgate has informed us that this new version of The Crow, which we have previously been referring to as a remake, is not to be called a remake. Rather, the film is to be referred to as “a new adaptation of the comic book.” They have also revealed that the tragic characters at the heart of the story are not named Eric Draven and Shelly Webster,...

Hip-hop pioneer Rakim is back with a new song, “Be Ill,” the lead single from his first new album in 15 years, G.O.D.’s Network (Reb7rth), out July 26.
On “Be Ill,” Rakim is as lyrically dexterous as ever, rhyming, “Design flows in binary codes, no matrix/Light-speeds, time could be froze, no spaceships/Walking paradox, I made them all believers/Shift the paradigm, even time, alter features.” The song also finds Rakim bringing the two coasts together with guest verses from Wu-Tang Clan member Masta Killa and Tha Dogg Pound Mc Kurupt.

The comic book "The Crow," created by James O'Barr in 1989, should be considered a seminal work in the then-growing Goth movement. The comics were about a man named Eric who was engaged to a woman named Shelly. One evening, Eric and Shelly are savagely beaten and assaulted. Eric is shot in the head but remains alive long enough to witness Shelly's horrible murder.
His story doesn't end there. The titular Crow appears over Eric's body and magically resurrects him, sending him on a quest for blood revenge. The unspeaking crow seems to want Eric to kill the punks that murdered Shelly, but also seemingly chastises him for brooding and remaining hung up on Shelly's death. Be angry, brood, but do not brood, and do not be angry. It's super-Goth. The comic was popular enough to warrant a celebrated film adaptation in 1994 starring Brandon Lee and directed by Alex Proyas. The film was ultra-stylized,...

Los Angeles, Feb 5 (Ians) Rapper and record producer Jay-Z called out the Grammys while receiving the Dr Dre Global Impact award, calling out the ceremony for snubbing his wife and singer Beyoncé by never awarding her album of the year.
Jay-Z talked about how he has always wanted the Grammys to recognise the artists that most influence culture.
“How far we have come with Will Smith, the Fresh Prince winning their first Grammy in ’89 and boycotting, because it was not televised,” he said.
“And then they went to a hotel to watch the Grammys. I don’t even understand, it was not a great boycott. But then in ’98, I took a page out of their book and was nominated for best rap album. And Dmx put out two, they were both number one, and he was not nominated at all,” reports Variety.

The One Piece anime remake by Netflix and Wit Studio suggests that it could utilize AI technology for its production, polarizing fans of the Eiichiro Oda series.
According to Netflix's press release for The One Piece anime, the forthcoming remake will be a "fresh yet familiar experience, utilizing cutting-edge visual technology to reimagine Luffy’s adventures through the beloved East Blue saga." The use of "cutting-edge visual technology" is what has One Piece fans fearing the worst, as the phrase could be referring to the controversial use of AI-animated programs. Both Netflix and Wit Studio have already dabbled in AI animation with The Dog & The Boy, igniting backlash from anime fans and animators alike.

Sparky the Dog, an urban legend in the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise, makes a brief appearance in the movie as a broken animatronic in the Parts & Service room. The history of one and done directors in cinema is an interesting one. It's rare to see someone with something that people wanted more of to never sit in the director's chair again. Famously, actor Charles Laughton directed 1955's Night of the Hunter, perhaps one of the most influential films of its time, and never directed another film. In more recent cinematic history, the most unfortunate example of this phenomenon is famed music video director Hype Williams, and his lone film, 1998's Belly. Now, Williams has had a prolific career following this film, directing music videos for the likes of Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Coldplay, and Megan Thee Stallion. Yet, he never directed a feature, or anything other than a music video since 1998. Belly is not a perfect film by any means, but it is visually stunning, thematically prescient, and features massive stars like Nas and the late Dmx. What happened with Hype Williams?...

Director Jeff Rowe reveals the iconic '90s song, "Mama Said Knock You Out" by LL Cool J, had to be cut from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem because it was also used prominently in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. Both Transformers: Rise of the Beasts and Tmnt: Mutant Mayhem incorporate '90s elements, including a '90s-inspired soundtrack. Tmnt: Mutant Mayhem successfully incorporates nostalgia factors and other characters and scenarios from the Tmnt comics, along with a soundtrack featuring notable rap artists like Busta Rhymes and Dmx.
Director Jeff Rowe reveals how Transformers: Rise of the Beasts led to one iconic ‘90s song being cut from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. The animated film premiered on August 2 and follows the Turtle brothers, who attempt to navigate the human world while battling an army of mutants. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and music go together like the Ninja Turtles and pizza; the two are intrinsically linked. From the iconic theme song of the 1987 animated series, to Vanilla Ice’s tie-in “Ninja Rap” for 1991’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze, and even their semi-forgotten 1990 stage rock and roll musical Coming Out of Their Shells, no matter the genre, these green teens are always rocking big tunes.
With music playing such a big role in the Turtles’ history, director Jeff Rowe and executive producer Seth Rogen had to be extra thoughtful when selecting the songs for the soundtrack of the Turtles’ latest film, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. With its distinctive animation style, the feature film finds our pizza-loving Turtles escaping their sheltered existence in the sewers as they seek to be accepted as normal teenagers through acts of heroism.

We’re here today to talk about nightmare fuel. More specifically, childhood nightmare fuel.

While you probably couldn’t tell from his last couple of movies, French director Luc Besson was once a cinematic force to be reckoned with. I mean, the guy managed to get unusual films off the ground on name recognition alone, even when he wasn’t directing them. One of my personal favorites of his strange little pet projects is the 2005 martial arts thriller Unleashed, a dark and gritty Jet Li vehicle helmed by long-time Besson collaborator, Louis Leterrier.
Having met Besson while working on commercials during the 90s, Leterrier would eventually join the notorious “Besson Stable” of Besson-endorsed filmmakers after impressing the director with his work on The Transporter films. This led to him being hand-picked to helm a unique action project written specifically for the martial artist and international movie star Jet Li.
Originally titled Danny the Dog, the script was inspired by the 1998 Kurt Russel flick Soldier,...

From the Elvis soundtrack featuring an exclusive track called The King and I" to "Lose Yourself" in the trailer for Minions: The Rise of Gru, Eminem music in movies shows up in diverse places. The Detroit rapper had his own cinematic trysts with his semi-autobiographical movie 8 Mile along with other movies for which he has contributed to the soundtracks including the likes of Southpaw, Venom, and many more. Given Slim Shady's impact on pop culture, it is not surprising to find several other movies and shows that incorporate his iconic rap tracks.
Eminem is one of the few rappers who is an Oscar voter, winning the Oscar for Best Original Song in 2003 for "Lose Yourself" from 8 Mile. He has also added several awards to his history at the Ama, Billboard, and Grammys, with Eminem winning 14 awards at the biggest ceremony in music. Add in his work as...
