The annual event supports the foundation’s critical efforts in reaching marginalized communities who are affected by HIV/AIDS.

In December, Jake Johnson and Gareth Reynolds announced that their advice podcast, We’re Here to Help, would be coming to a temporary end. The duo had released more than 140 episodes, sometimes devoting five hours a day to recording, and it became unsustainable. Reynolds, a touring comedian, was often Zooming in from the road and Johnson was in the midst of producing a new movie. It made sense to hit pause.

“It kept growing and it got way bigger than I expected,” Johnson says, speaking from his home studio in Los Angeles.

The former co-stars, both 45, hit the stage together at the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday (February 23) at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

“Man. Zooey, I gotta say, this, this, this is wild. I can’t believe this. You look amazing,” Max said as Zooey, replied, “Thank you. So do you How long has it been?”

The 31st annual Screen Actors Guild Awards are set to take place Sunday, February 23 at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles, in a ceremony streaming live on Netflix.

The ceremony, to be hosted by Kristen Bell, is the last major Hollywood guild to reveal its winners ahead of the Oscars on March 2. Five movies nominated for the Best Picture Oscar are also nominated in SAG’s marquee Ensemble Cast category Sunday: A Complete Unknown, Anora, Conclave, Emilia Pérez and Wicked.

Last year, Oppenheimer won SAG’s Ensemble prize on its way to winning seven Oscars including Best Picture.

Where can the SAG Awards be watched?

Netflix, which acquired rights to the event in 2023 and streamed it exclusively for the first time last year, is streaming the SAG Awards live globally Sunday beginning at 8 p.m. Et/5 p.m. Pt. It also is streaming a red carpet pre-show beginning at 5 p.

Show business is in actor Zooey Deschanel's blood—both of her parents are in the business, as is her sister, Emily Deschanel, best known for her role in the drama series, Bones. Zooey made her film debut at just 19 years old, and she's worked consistently since then and has built a reputation around playing quirky characters. She's perhaps best-known for starring in the sitcom, New Girl, and she has a number of projects currently in the works. She's also had a successful career as a musician in the indie duo She & Him.

Colman Domingo, Pamela Anderson, Quinta Brunson, Ralph Fiennes and Zoe Saldaña are among the stars set to serve as presenters at this Sunday’s 31st annual SAG Awards, Variety has learned.

After going viral for reincarnating the title character from 2003’s Elf — as a beer-drinking and cigarette-smoking brooder, no less — Will Ferrell explained the thought and preparation process behind the stunt.

“Buddy the Elf got laid off, I think, from the North Pole,” the multi-hyphenate joked to Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce on a recent episode of their New Heights podcast.

The moment took place at a Dec. 29 hockey game between the Los Angeles Kings and Philadelphia Flyers, after a week of prep — simply for the vibes. Commentators joked that Ferrell’s demeanor and commitment to the bit made it unclear if he was actually enjoying the match-up or not. Meanwhile, those on social media had jokes aplenty, with film references deeming this version of Buddy the Elf a “South Pole elf” and saying he had finally been sacked for not meeting his gift-making quota.

It takes a special skill that not even two gifted actors have and once the reviews came out for the telecast, they certainly weren't glowing. As it turns out, Franco took the reviews very hard, at least according to comedian Paul Rust, who says he saw the actor get physical with a chair following the telecast.

During an appearance on the With Gourley and Rust podcast, Rust said that he saw Franco become quite irritated a few days after co-hosting the Oscars with Hathaway. During this time, his film Your Highness had also come out, and he was set to promote it with CollegeHumor alongside Danny McBride, who was also in the film.

Will Ferrell has officially made it canon that Buddy the Elf is a fan of the Los Angeles Kings. On Sunday, the actor attended the hockey team’s game with the Philadelphia Flyers while dressed as his character from 2003’s Elf, looking quite worn out from the Christmas season.

Sitting in the stands with his wife and son, Ferrell came decked in a green suit and pointy hat. However, it was quite clear this was a different Buddy than the one he portrayed in the Jon Favreau comedy. Besides sporting a five o’clock shadow, Ferrell dangled a faux cigarette from his mouth and was also spotted drinking a beer.

While speaking to FanDuel Sports Network broadcaster Carrlyn Bathe, Ferrell further committed to the bit by telling her that “it was a tough holiday season” and saying he was “looking for a Kings win.” With a 5-4 victory, the Kings fulfilled Buddy’s wish.

It seems like even Buddy the Elf is over the holiday season this year. Per Variety, Ferrell (who is a fan of the Kings), as Buddy, spoke to FanDuel Sports Network’s Carrlyn Bathe, who was reporting live from the hockey game. “It was a tough holiday season,” Buddy told Bathe, adding that he's "looking for a Kings win.”

Even the biggest fans of "Bones" — Hart Hanson's procedural series led by Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz which ran for 12 years and the same number of seasons — likely don't associate the series with Christmas, and that's extremely fair. Across those 12 seasons, the show, which can get pretty dark at times, largely eschews holiday episodes for "case-of-the-week" style installments as well as overarching storylines. So what about the few Christmas-themed episodes of "Bones?" Are they any good?

Actually, they are! While the Christmas episodes probably won't make a list of the best out of 246 episodes, only three center around Christmas, and each of them is pretty solid. Even sweeter, the best of them all even features a guest star you'll likely recognize from another hit Fox show (who also happens to be related to one of the show's leads). Here are the three "Bones" Christmas episodes, ranked from "pretty good" to "actually awesome.

According to the details originally released by Fandango, the first Wicked movie is two hours and 40 minutes long. The Broadway musical, by comparison, runs for two hours and 45 minutes. The follow-up will likely lead to the on-screen adaptation doubling the original musical's runtime.

It’s hard to define what makes a movie good or bad since it’s all subjective, but for me, a bad movie becomes good when it’s still enjoyable despite being a terrible film.

While Wicked has been around on Broadway far longer than Hamilton, the latter's popularity and high quality demands a big-budget film adaptation on par with director Jon M. Chu's vision of Wicked. It has already displayed its blockbuster potential on Disney+ with 2020's Hamilton film, so combined with Wicked's stellar performance in theaters, a film adaptation of Miranda's musical is all but guaranteed at this point.
