Production is scheduled to begin in Australia in May 2025. The project was developed with the financial assistance of the South Australian Film Corporation and Architect is handling worldwide sales.
Killing Breed will pit a family, desperately fighting for survival at an isolated Outback lodge, against a raging bushfire, out of control and consuming everything in its path, and three savage dogs, trained to kill and now unleashed into the wild. Day said, “Killing Breed is a character-driven survival thriller grounded in raw, authentic emotion,...

"Why did you run, Mr. Kelly?" Samuel Goldwyn has unveiled an official Us trailer for an Australian racism drama titled Sweet Country, from acclaimed director Warwick Thornton (of Samson & Delilah). This first premiered at the Venice Film Festival last year, and played at the Toronto and London Film Festivals. It also plays at the Sundance Film Festival this month hitting pretty much every big fest. Sweet Country takes place in the Northern Territory of Australia nearly 100 years ago, telling the story of an Aboriginal stockman who shoots a white man and is taken to trial. Hamilton Morris stars, with Sam Neill, Ewen Leslie, Bryan Brown, Thomas M. Wright, and Matt Day. I saw this already in Venice and I liked it, but it's not my cup of tea - way too dry and slow for me. But other critics seem to be loving it, so it may still be worth your time.

I've got a trailer here for you to watch for an Australian western called Sweet County. The movie is a period piece set in the outback in 1929 and it's based on a true story about a man who is on the run through the harsh landscape of outback with his wife after he murders another man is self-defense.I'm a big fan of westerns and this movie looks pretty damn good. Here's the story description:
Sam, a middle-aged Aboriginal man, works for a preacher in the outback of Australia's Northern Territory. When Harry, a bitter war veteran, moves into a neighbouring outpost, the preacher sends Sam and his family to help Harry renovate his cattle yards. But Sam's relationship with the cruel and ill-tempered Harry quickly deteriorates, culminating in a violent shootout in which Sam kills Harry in self-defence. As a result, Sam becomes a wanted criminal for the murder of a white man,...

After screening at the Sydney Film Festival.s Dendy Awards for Australian Short Films and the St Kilda Film Festival, The Spa made its international premiere last week at the Palm Springs International Shortfest..
Writer-director Will Goodfellow, a graduate of the 2014 Aftrs Master of Screen Arts program, travelled to Palm Springs with his film. He calls it a "a festival that truly values the filmmaker experience".

Australian thriller Touch is set to launch in five Australian cinemas on May 21, just one week after George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road. blankets the nation.
The timing may not seem ideal but the distributor, ScreenLaunch CEO Ross Howden, tells If that.s the only date he could get after months of negotiations with exhibitors.
Still, Howden is confident that writer-director Christopher Houghton.s film, which stars Leanne Walsman, Matt Day and newcomer Onor Nottle, will find appreciative audiences after premiering at the Sydney Film Festival last year.
Produced by Triptych Pictures. Julie Byrne, the film follows Dawn (Walsman) and her daughter Steph (Nottle), who are on the run across the Adelaide Hills, pursued by mysterious man John (Day).
Howden has bookings for Event Cinemas Bondi Junction, Regal Theatre and Trak Cinemas in Adelaide and the Classic and Cameo Cinemas in Melbourne, and he hopes a roll-out in regional areas will follow.

Producer Steve Jaggi is convinced audiences are hankering for films with positive, joyful themes, an antidote to the dark subjects often favoured by filmmakers.
Putting his money where his mouth is, Jaggi launched The Incubator last year through his Indefatigable Pictures banner to develop and produce life-affirming films.
The first three projects to benefit from that initiative are either completed or in post. All are from first-time filmmakers, part of Jaggi.s plan to help foster the international careers of Australian creatives.
Based on a true story, Skin Deep is the saga of a young woman who is diagnosed with terminal melanoma and meets a stranger who gives her the courage to embrace life. The screenplay is by Monica Zanetti, who had melanoma. Rosie Lourde is the producer and the director is Jonnie Leahy. Zara Zoe plays the protagonist and Zanetti portrays the stranger.

How many book lovers would line up to see "The Great Gretzky?" How might "Men in Plaid" do at the box office? And what would the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences think of the suburban drama "Canadian Beauty"?
These questions arose after Twitter users altered the titles of famous films under the #MakeamovieCanadian hashtag over the past couple of days.
The trend gave rise to some very creative ideas and we've tried to summarize the best ones below.

I'm a Celebrity stars Alfonso Ribeiro and Matthew Wright have cleared the air after they clashed over Ribeiro's grammar.
The Fresh Prince of Bel Air actor lost his cool with Wright after the presenter corrected him on the use of "minimum" and "maximum".
He angrily told Wright that he had had enough of his "f**king s**t", while The Wright Stuff star described the explosion as a "completely unnecessary outburst".
Following last night's row, Ribeiro told Wright: "I'm sorry that I blew up the way I did."
Wright replied: "You're a top man but I have to say, I don't think you're going home soon."
"I know, but I can hope," said Ribeiro.
Later, Ribeiro told the Bush Telegraph: "It wasn't necessarily an apology, it was a discussion of clearing the air."
Snooker star Steve Davis irritated Wright when he asked him: "Did you have a dream that you...

The Us version of Rake, which stars Greg Kinnear as brilliant, womanising and self-destructive criminal lawyer Keegan Deane, will screen on the rebranded Universal Channel on Foxtel.
Due to a holdback agreement with the ABC, the Us show cannot screen in Oz until after the third series of the Australian Rake airs on the public broadcaster. The remake premieres on Fox at 10 pm on Sunday January 19 with a strong lead-in, the Nfc Championship Game, and will then screen on Thursday nights at 9.
Peter Duncan, who co-created the original series with Richard Roxburgh and Charles Waterstreet, tells If the holdback agreement is not an issue, noting, .The ABC has been pretty generous. The Us series won.t finish screening until April. I am not sure when the new series will go to air in Australia but I believe it.s late February, so it.s not going to be a massive imposition.

Typifying a growing buoyancy and sense of optimism about filmmaking in South Australia, producers Julie Byrne, Kristian Moliere and Jennifer Jones have formed Triptych Pictures.
The troika has just delivered its first factual entertainment series for the ABC, Jillaroo School, and shooting wraps today on its first feature, Touch.
Jillaroo School (6 x 30.) follows the journeys of the women who undergo a course to train as jillaroos under the tutelage of experienced horse master Bill Willoughby.
Writer-director Christopher Houghton.s Touch is a thriller about a mother and daughter who are on the run, hiding in a remote hills town, starring Leeanna Walsman, Matt Day, Greg Hatton and 12-year-old tyro Onor Nottle.
.It.s very hard to be a solo producer or even a duo,. Byrne tells If. .With three you have a critical mass and each brings different ideas. We are all drama-oriented and we want to get into TV series drama.
