Director Pete Segal is returning to helm the sequel, which reunites franchise stars Dave Bautista and Chloe Coleman alongside scene-stealers Kristen Schaal and Ken Jeong.

The follow-up concerns a now teenage Sophie (Coleman) convincing JJ (Bautista) to chaperone her school choir trip to Italy where they both unwittingly end up pawns in an international terrorist plot targeting CIA chief David Kim (Jeong) and his son, Collin – who’s also Sophie’s best friend.

Toronto-based V71 heads to Berlin with worldwide sales rights to the darkly comic She Never Died and has struck a deal for Xyz Films to represent Us sales.

The film wrapped production in Ontario last summer and is a companion piece to the 2015 fantasy comedy He Never Died starring Henry Rollins, which Xyz Films licensed to Vertical Entertainment for worldwide distribution.

The Butler finally dethroned at box office Universal Pictures' Riddick starring Vin Diesel lived debuted in a morbid after summer box office frame, and lived up to it's "Rule the Dark" tagline, topping the box office this weekend with a mediocre $18.6 million. Pic from David Twohy opened in 3,107 theaters, averaging $6,010, finally dropping Weinstein Co's The Butler drama in second with $8.9 million. The film skewering male viewers, turned in $7.3 million on Friday, $7.2 million on Saturday, and $4.73 million from today's estimates. Vin Diesel does undoubtedly have his Fast & Furious fans, but Riddick is the real deal behind the actor's success. Now, check out new images from the Universal Pictures film which opens September 6th, and looks like a strong return to the formula that made the original film so good. This time, several bounty hunters are thrown into the mix, on a planet which appears to be lifeless, but leaves them fighting for survival against an alien species. The cast also includes Jordi Mollà, Matt Nable, Katee Sackhoff, Dave Bautista, Bokeem Woodbine, Raoul Trujillo, Conrad Pla, Danny Blanco Hall, Noah Danby, Neil Napier and Nolan Gerard Funk.

This new trailer for Riddick is very much the green band trailer for the red band trailer we posted back in mid July. So if you missed it or couldn’t watch it because you had a less then desirable audience for blood and violence then here’s the much tamer version for you.

Be prepared for quite a shakeup in "Defiance's" second season.

When the show returns in June 2014, many of the characters will be in new places and leading lives markedly different from their old ones. Change was the big topic at the show's panel at San Diego Comic-Con Friday.

I had the pleasure of moderating the panel, which included executive producer Kevin Murphy and stars Grant Bowler (Joshua Nolan), Julie Benz (Amanda Rosewater), Stephanie Leonidas (Irisa), Tony Curran (Datak Tarr), Jaime Murray (Stahma Tarr), Jesse Rath (Alak Tarr) and Trion Worlds senior game producer Rob Hill.

"The goal at the end the end of Season 1 was to take the chess board and flip it up and knock all the pieces all over the place. Every single character has a reset," Murphy told the audience (which included at least two Stahma cosplayers and a guy with a Hellbug on his head...

This new trailer for Riddick is very similar to what we’ve posted in the past, but it’s new and improved with some more graphic shots of blood and violence. The addition just enriches the reactions we had seen without it, and confirms that this is going to be a really fun movie.

Vin Diesel is ready for attack in this new poster for Riddick. Crouched and with a horribly painful looking knife in hand, the tag line reads, “Survival is His Revenge” which is a great motto for anyone to live by who feels a bit of oppression. Feast your eyes!

Big changes are in the air in the Season 2 premiere of BBC America's "Copper."

It's 1865 and Lincoln's assassination is just around the corner, but the biggest development in Five Points is the return of General Brendan Donovan (Donal Logue), who heads home from the battlefield to restore order in New York's Sixth Ward.

Series co-creator Tom Fontana has described Donovan as a "Boss Tweed like character," but he remains primarily an intriguing mystery in the season premiere. Still, the arrival of Logue -- who has been building up a steady resume of serialized cable dramas including "Terriers," "Vikings" and "Sons of Anarchy" -- is easily one of the Season 2 bright spots so far.

Following the new Comic-Con poster debut over this weekend, another brand new international trailer for David Twohy's Riddick starring Vin Diesel has hit the web. We just got the full trailer for this sci-fi sequel a month ago, but this one still packs a punch. It shows quite a few full scenes, but also has some fantastic VFX alien shots that kind of kick ass. My day was a little low on octane. I’m so glad that the first trailer for Riddick could remedy that. The Universal Pictures epic was written and directed by David Twohy and stars Vin Diesel in his reprisal of the title role from 2000’s hit sci-fi film Pitch Black and 2004’s The Chronicles of Riddick.

1.3 The Devil in the Dark

The third instalment of Defiance had some elements I liked, and others I could have easily done without. The positive side of this mixed bag was occupied by some sterling character development, mostly for Irisa Nyira (Stephanie Leonidas) who is revealed to have a power that allows her to see into the past through Irathient ritual drug taking. It happens, more often that you might suspect.

This is all woven into a basic detective story where people are being killed by giant alien bugs seemingly at random, directed by assassins unknown. This is a good way to introduce some bumpy interstellar race relations, and Noah Danby who plays Sukar was especially good in establishing the uneasy...

Can’t we all just get along?

That question is raised by Syfy’s Defiance, premiering Monday at 9/8c and presenting a 2046 Earth that has received an extreme makeover via terraforming and the colonization by seven alien races (collectively dubbed Votans).

The title refers to the St. Louis-adjacent town where humans coexist alongside milky-skinned and aristocratic Castithans (fronted by Tony Curran and Warehouse 13′s Jaime Murray as Datak and Stahma Tarr), Steampunky Irathients, bulging Biomen, the vicious Volge and other species.

In its opening scene, Canadian dramedy Good Dog directly references Curb Your Enthusiasm. Its lead character, neurotic TV producer George (Ken Finkleman), is planning an unnecessary trip to Los Angeles to get Larry David’s blessing to use the title “Embrace Your Enthusiasm” for a planned fly-on-the-wall series about his life. It feels like a move intended to undercut criticism that Good Dog‘s a “Canadian Curb“, but one that doesn’t work. If anything, it just draws additionally attention to the fact this is a poor man’s version of the Emmy-winning Curb, and possible the worst comedy pilot I’ve seen in years.

Jane can heal herself but apparently not her ailing series. The Sci Fi Channel has decided to cancel their original program Painkiller Jane after 22 episodes.

Painkiller Jane told the story of DEA Agent Jane Vasco (Kristanna Loken) who discovers that she has the ability to heal quickly from any injury. As a result of this special power, she is recruited by a secret government agency that tracks down "Neuros" -- mutant humans with supernormal mental powers. The cast also included Noah Danby, Rob Stewart, Alaina Huffman and Sean Owen Roberts.

Painkiller Jane began as a comic book and was loosely adapted for a 2005 TV movie for Sci-Fi. The movie was a success and spawned the television series which debuted on April 13, 2007. Unfortunately, the series premiere attracted a disappointing 1.55 million and viewership has declined from there. As a result, Sci-Fi has opted not to renew the series for a second year.
