- Brunette American actress, initially with the Ziegfeld Follies. Went to England in 1926 after marrying the wealthy, Oxford-educated Australian industrialist James Bartram. Acted in Cochran revues and a few films before returning to the U.S. in 1929. Bartram later divorced her on the grounds that her avowed Buddhist belief in a 'purely spiritual union' was not conducive to a happy marriage.
- Compton and Bartram separated in 1936, but divorce actions were not filed until 1942. The case was well-publicized in the newspapers because of her accusations regarding his personal life.
- Daughter with James Bartram, Juliette Mary.
