Werewolf shows are a part of the ever-popular fantasy genre of TV shows, and over the years, there have been plenty of series focused on the violence, humor, action, and romance that comes with a lupine transformation once a month on the full moon. Fantasy TV shows have always been wildly popular and while vampire TV shows have generally been the clubhouse leader in terms of fandom and success, werewolves deserve a shoutout too. They may not be as sexy as vampires, smart as witches, or titillating as ghosts, but werewolves have plenty to offer.
Werewolf shows are not simple endeavors. Typically, in lore, people turn into werewolves once a month, and typically they lose all control of their faculties, not exactly caveats that make for easy, character-driven storytelling. The werewolf in the Universal Monsters movies is not a hero after all. So a good TV show based around werewolves...

Anime is one of the widest-reaching popular media of today. For this reason, many fans record their reaction videos and share them on YouTube and other social media platforms. Many anime YouTubers have fascinating and entertaining reactions to pivotal anime moments, like The Double Dragon Broz's response to Ace's Death in One Piece.
Each of these videos is a masterclass in reaction content. Many of them are far superior to typical reaction content. Instead of just streaming the source material, each YouTuber works hard to provide a unique spin and expert commentary. Instances like Jd Anime's reaction to Naruto: Shippuden episode 246, combine the analytical and emotional in an extremely fascinating way.

Peter Renaday, a longtime and prolific voice actor best known as the voice of rat sensei Master Splinter in the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TV series, died Sunday, September 8, at his home in Burbank, California. He was 89.
News of his death was shared on social media by friend and Turtles costar Townsend Coleman, who voiced the character of Michaelangelo on the immensely popular generational touchstone animated series of the 1980s-’90s.
A cause of death has not been determined, but TMZ cites law enforcement sources as having discovered an unresponsive Renaday during a welfare check at his home on Sunday. Natural causes are suspected.
“Pete was one of the most genuine, salt of the earth people I have ever known and I will miss him dearly,” Coleman wrote on social media (see the post below). “I had the privilege of visiting with him a month ago and he was as vibrant as ever,...

Imagine. The year is 1994 and you are a huge superhero fan. You sit down to watch your favorite cartoon show, a thrilling battle of good versus evil. In this week’s episode, Charles uses his mental might to clash with a blue enemy who promises to be his friend.
The cheesy voice-acting and choppy animation doesn’t disrupt the experience. In fact, it makes it better, intensifying the clash between Charles and the blue guy until you can’t take it anymore and you unleash your hero’s battle cry:
“Spoon!”
Because, of course, you’re not watching X-Men: The Animated Series, nor even Batman: The Animated Series, both respected superhero cartoons that get ample praise today. No, the Charles in question is Brainchild, a precocious evil pre-teen (voiced by Rob Paulsen) who enhanced his intelligence by giving himself a glass covered throbbing brain.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem released in 2023 and featured a teenage version of the turtle heroes and an underground world of mutants. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have a rich history, from their comic book origins to their numerous TV series and movies spanning over 35 years. The franchise includes classic adaptations like the 1990 live-action film and the popular 2003 animated series, as well as newer takes such as the 2014 and 2016 live-action movies and the 2018 animated series, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
While the franchise is somewhat lacking when it comes to having a cohesive continuity, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies in order show how the world's favorite heroes in a half-shell have continually adapted themselves to stay relevant throughout the decades. From the pages of comic books to the big screen, Earth's favorite crime-fighting anthropomorphic turtles love only one thing more than ridding the world of scum: pizza.

With X-Men '97 on the way, it's time to look at another animated superhero classic from the 1990s in need of renewed attention. This animated superhero made its debut in a Fox Kids series in 1994, thanks in part to the success of X-Men: The Animated Series. This animated series introduced mainstream audiences to another superhero for the first time and featured major involvement from the character's creator, Ben Edlund.
The arrival of X-Men '97 sometime in early 2024 is cause for celebration among Marvel fans after a long and wearying 2023. The excitement is well-earned. The original X-Men: The Animated Series -- which ran from 1992 to 1997 on Fox Kids -- became the first formal adaptation of Marvel's Merry Mutants to find mainstream success. Besides introducing an entire generation to Charles Xavier and his students years before the live-action movies, the series earned copious praise for its accurate incarnation of numerous beloved story-lines from the comics.

Twice a month Joe Lipsett will dissect a new Amityville Horror film to explore how the “franchise” has evolved in increasingly ludicrous directions. This is “The Amityville IP.”
My hunch about the higher production values for The Amityville Terror (2016) wound up being true, and whether it’s the slightly more polished look or a cast of professional actors, the sixteenth film in the “franchise” is easily the best in quite some time.
That’s grading on a scale since there are still some pretty glaring issues in the film, but, overall, director Michael Angelo has delivered a solidly entertaining Dtv film with soft callbacks to other franchise entries.
After a cold open that’s revealed to be a bracketing storyline, Amanda Barton’s screenplay quickly establishes a familiar foundation: a troubled family moves into a suspiciously cheap house on Amity Lane and the bad energy eventually manifests in murderous behavior.

The Tick creator Ben Edlund shows his support for the ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike with the character's bold, blue visage.

Before "The Tick," and before "The Tick," but after "The Tick," there was "The Tick," the short-lived animated series that ran on Fox from 1994 to 1996.
The Tick was a parody superhero character originally created by cartoonist Ben Edlund in 1986. The character was a massive pile of muscles wrapped in a skin-tight blue bodysuit, and sporting a tiny pair of tick antennae on his head. He was incredibly strong, incredibly noble, and not at all bright. The Tick was just as in love with the iconography of superherodom as he was with committing acts of justice. He would frequently narrate his own adventures. Ironically, his powers and outfit had absolutely nothing to do with pesky, blood-sucking arachnids. When a thug points out to the Tick that most ticks have eight legs, he confidently retorts "How do you know I don't?"

[Editor’s note: The following contains spoilers for the ending of “The Tick” Season 1.]
Woe to the next showrunner who triumphantly stands before a group of TV writers and proclaims their series to be more like a “[insert number here]-hour movie.” That formulation has plagued many shows over the past decade, even if there’s not always a one-to-one correlation between that approach and the quality of a show overall.
Ben Edlund, creator of The Tick and the man behind a third TV version of the superhero he brought to life on his comic’s pages, may not have conceived of the most recent Amazon season as a movie in multiple parts. But the first half of the season, released last August, mostly played out like one. Rejecting a lot of the episode-by-episode beats of a more traditional TV show, the result was a half-season of a comedy in search of an anchor.

As Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and It show, the problematic trope of token girls in all-male gangs endures
It has been a good year for women in cinema in many ways, with a high count of quality female-made and female-led movies, and the removal of an echelon of sexual predators from the industry. But by some metrics, there’s still a way to go. In particular, the Smurfette Principle. The phrase was coined back in 1991 by Us writer Katha Pollitt, who bemoaned the number of films and TV programmes that featured a group with one lone female. Not just The Smurfs but also The Muppets, Winnie The Pooh, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and so forth. “The message is clear,” she wrote, “... boys are central, girls peripheral.”

The 'End of Level' Boss is a time-honored tradition in video gaming history and it's hard to think of a genre that doesn't have a superior foe for you to prove your skill and triumph over. Dead Love is new unorthodox love story from writer and director Chris Gallagher, which has been selected to play at the Horror-on-Sea Film Festival on Friday 19th January. I got chance to ask Chris a few questions about making the film, working with Lloyd Kaufman and the seminal casting of Emily Booth whilst writing the script.
What can we expect from the film Dead Love?
Talking tables, cannibals, exploding hearts, an awesome soundtrack and many scenes of murder-sex (a term the actors coined on set). It’s essentially a love story concerning a man named Allan, a woman called Anne and a sentient piece of furniture! We’ve got all bases covered – if you want gore, we have scenes where some cast & crew had to watch through their hands. There’s a bit of comedy (hopefully) and underpinning that is the tale of two mismatched people finding love in an unlikely situation.

A lot of us grew up on classic animated shows like Batman: The Animated Series, Animaniacs, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and X-Men. Now several of the popular voice artists involved with these series are assembling for a new animated show called The Gang's All Here.
The series is being produced by Rob Paulsen, who previously worked as a voice actor on Tmnt, Pinky and the Brain, Animaniacs. He teamed up with screenwriter Byron Burton to work on the series. Apparently, Burton pitched the series idea to Paulsen earlier this year at a fan convention, and Paulsen liked what he came up with!
As far as the voiceover cast goes, Kevin Conroy (Batman) and Cal Doff (Wolverine) have jumped on board! Oh yeah! Voice over director Andrea Romano is also involved. She has worked on several of the DC animated productions over the years.

The summer of 1990 was supposed to be a showdown between Dick Tracy and Days Of Thunder. It was a bit of an odd rivalry...
It would be fair to say that the top five movies at the Us box office in 1990 didn’t follow the rule book. In fact, 1990 saw Hollywood’s blockbuster formula falter, to the point that conversations were rife about whether a sea change was coming. Dramtic changes in blockbuster mentality were certainly on the way, as it happened, but not for a decade or so. Yet the seed was planted in 1990 that sure-fire blockbuster hits weren’t always, well, sure-fire blockbuster hits.

Not that many people saw it coming, Off the back of 1989’s blockbuster business, Hollywood was bullish.

If you loved the classic arcade game for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, then you're going to love this. RetroSFX went and mixed the audio from the video game and spiked it into the film to a glorious effect, or at least I think so. Check it out below, and tell us how many quarters you spent playing this game back in the day!

Funny or Die has released an awesomely funny Justice League spoof trailer that features Batman recruiting the B-Team of superheroes. Those heroes include Howard the Duck, Steel with Shaquille O'Neal, Barb Wire with Pamala Anderson, and Blankman with Damon Waynes. I'm sure many of you are familiar with these terrible films from the 80s and 90s. This video is actually cut together in a very fun and clever way. The interaction between Batman and Barb Wire are the best, though. The video also ends with a ton of cameos from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Mask, Spy Kids, Mario and Luigi, The Power Rangers, Zorro, Underdog and Jaden Smith's Karate Kid. Enjoy the video!

“Mankind has always feared what it doesn’t understand.”
Spoken by Ian McKellen’s Magneto in the first X-Men feature film adaptation in 2000, that pivotal theme has always illuminated a character’s stance in every medium of this particular Marvel universe. In 1992, an approximate version of the line was uttered by Storm (voiced by Iona Morris) in the pilot of the X-Men animated series, which premiered 25 years ago in October.
The Fox series’ influence also included pushing comic book stories into mainstream pop culture, as well as preparing future audiences with a story structure that challenged growing minds. As if pulling this off wasn’t a large enough challenge, X-Men concurrently offered hope and emotional refuge from the adolescent anxieties of its young viewers, which we all know (now) simply turn out to be simply less advanced versions of later adult anxieties.

A new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon is on its way to Nickelodeon, called Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and they recently announced the cast that will make up the team of ninja turtles.
Ben Schwartz has been cast as Leonardo. I greatly disliked Schwartz’s character Jean-Ralphio on Parks and Recreation, but that’s because he did such a great job, and while I normally wouldn’t like the idea of him being Leo, but it sounds like some changes are being made to the show to make it fresh. Leo is no longer the leader, but rather the cooler, rebellious brother while Raphael (voiced by Omar Miller) takes charge as leader. Donatello (voiced by Silicon Valley's Josh Brener) and still seems to be a techno-geek and Brandon Mychal Smith’s Michelangelo sounds like he’ll be the lovable Mikey we know.

In the first season of “Stranger Things,” the quartet of young men (“the party,” to use the parlance of Dungeons and Dragons) is clearly a direct homage to the show’s love of Stephen King (many of King’s narratives revolve around similar friend groups). But it’s the addition of Eleven to the group — the “mage,” as Mike likes to refer to her — that aligns the show with an even more common trope.
Nearly any child of the ’80s and ’90s will fondly remember, as a part of their youth, watching cartoons. And for boys, there was a lot of fun to be had in identifying with certain characters. You could be a “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” fan, but more intellectual types might consider themselves to be Donatello, while a more rebellious boy might prefer to don the red eye mask of Raphael.

Megan Fox recently opened up about her diva-like behavior that got her fired from the Transformers franchise. The now 31-year old actress is currently filming her new movie, Shadow Girl, but back in 2009, she was the star of the hugely successful Transformers movie series. Fox now calls her experience working on those sci-fi-fi adventures, as well as the fallout, a giant learning experience, though she didn't see that at the time. Megan Fox now looks back at getting fired from Transformers as the low point in her career.
Megan Fox recently sat down for an interview with Cosmopolitan U.K. where she detailed why getting fired from Transformers and her diva-like behavior was the low point of her career. Fox had this to say.
"That was absolutely the low point of my career. But without, 'that thing,' I wouldn't have learned as quickly as I did. All I had to do was apologize,...

Megan Fox has seemingly been out of the spotlight in recent years, but is stepping back in, gracing the cover of this month’s issue of UK Cosmopolitan.
Once as hot as you can get in Hollywood, a "low point" in her career came in 2009 when she was unceremoniously fired from the cast of Transformers 3 after saying director Michael Bay wanted “to be like Hitler on his sets”.
When talking about the incident in a 2011 interview with GQ, Bay reveled that producer Steven Spielberg had told him to fire Fox after hearing about the Hitler comparison. Spielberg later denied that claim.

Spoilers for Thor: The Dark World lie ahead
Dressed as snappily as ever, Taika Waititi was leaning playfully up against a wall as I entered a swanky London hotel room to chat with him. The writer-director of Boy, Eagle Vs Shark, What We Do In The Shadows and Hunt For The Wilderpeople then led me over to a little table, where he was halfway through drinking some sort of caffeine-based beverage from a martini glass. Pure class.
What followed was a snappy chinwag about Waititi’s new directorial project, Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok, which teams Chris Hemsworth’s godly goldilocks with Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk and Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie, to take on such villains as Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, Jeff Goldblum’s Grandmaster and Cate Blanchett’s Hela.

We've lost a lot of inspirational figures in the horror genre this past year, including the great Bernie Wrightson, a brilliant artist, co-creator of the Swamp Thing and passionate fan of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. It’s no Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles bandana, but Patches’ mini mask is still perfectly suited for her.
However, the black-breasted leaf turtle isn’t preparing for Halloween; she is recovering from a facial injury.

It is unclear how the reptile was hurt, but keepers believe the zoo’s male black-breasted leaf turtle might have gotten too frisky during a mating attempt.

Obviously, if Bill can get his hands on it, Liam would have nothing to continue blackmailing Bill with. That would set the stage for Bill to return and take back his company. The big question...

Amazon just released the full teaser trailer for their upcoming series Jack Ryan, which is based on the character from Tom Clancy's classic novels. We've seen a couple of brief promos for the series, but this trailer gives us our best look yet and it looks like it will end up being a really good series! I'm actually looking forward to checking it out! Here's the synopsis:
When CIA analyst Jack Ryan stumbles upon a suspicious series of bank transfers his search for answers pulls him from the safety of his desk job and catapults him into a deadly game of cat and mouse throughout Europe and the Middle East, with a rising terrorist figurehead preparing for a massive attack against the Us and her allies.
Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel) is developing the series with Graham Roland (Almost Human), who wrote the pilot based on a story he and Cuse developed.

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)
This week’s question: Who is your favorite voice actor for animated characters on TV? Why?
Dave Trumbore (@DrClawMD), Collider
My knee-jerk reaction was either Kevin Conroy or Mark Hamill for their roles as Batman/Bruce Wayne and The Joker, respectively, because “Batman: The Animated Series” is always on my mind. But thinking a moment more, my favorite voice actor (and arguably the best in the biz) is Frank Welker.

His name might not be a household one, but with over 800 credits and nearly 50 years in the industry, Welker’s voice definitely is.

One of the many great things about comic books is that the medium allows for crossovers to occur, a lot of which we’ll probably never see in live action cinema or even animation due to an unbelievable amount of red tape. Case in point: back in 2015, we finally saw Batman meet the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in a team-up that had previously only went down whenever we were kids playing with the various action figures we owned.
Thankfully, we’re getting an official sequel now thanks to a real life team-up involving DC Entertainment, Idw Publishing and Nickelodeon. Granted, there was also the recent miniseries dubbed Batman/Tmnt Adventures, but that involved the animated versions of the characters, not the comic book iterations, and was a different beast entirely. But, rest assured, Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II is a sequel in every sense of the word.

The Tick is back on Amazon Prime Video and it's tremendous fun. Here's how the show achieves what its creator envisioned 21 years ago...
In 1994, I was about to be a freshman in high school. Despite being “too old” for cartoons, there wasn’t really anything else on television on Saturday mornings while I was waiting for wrestling to show up on my television screen. I remember most of the cartoons I saw only in the vaguest terms: the creepy face of Louie Anderson’s gargoyle animated child or a screaming purple cat. I know the name of both shows because I looked them up prior to writing this article, but I couldn’t tell you anything about them. However, one show I watched regularly in the mid to late '90s stuck with me well into adulthood, and that’s the 1994-96 animated version of The Tick.
