Top social media companies are working together to limit the spread of suicide and self-harm content. Meta, TikTok, and Snap are founding members of Thrive, a program launched by the nonprofit organization Mental Health Coalition (Mhc).

Thrive encourages cooperation among its member companies, which are pooling their resources to make the internet safer for underage users. Meta, TikTok, and Snap will share “hashes” that can be used to identify individual pieces of problematic content as they move from platform to platform. TechCrunch notes that the hashes will only apply to graphic videos related to suicide and self-harm, and they won’t include any identifiable information about the uploaders.

The 2024 Hamptons Film Festival will open with the East Coast premiere of R.J. Cutler’s Martha Stewart documentary, Martha, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Martha, from the Oscar-nominated and Emmy- and Peabody-winning Cutler, is being characterized as the definitive documentary on Stewart and includes a number of candid interviews with the businesswoman and lifestyle personality. The film is expected to be released by Netflix later this year.

The Sundance Institute on Monday appointed seven new members to its Board of Trustees, bringing it to a 32-person board that is evenly split between men and women and features 10 who identify as people of color, including six who identify as Black.

The newest members are Kimberlé Crenshaw, Ann Lewnes and Wonya Lucas, who join the board alongside Uzodinma Iweala, Amanda Kelso, William Plapinger and Junaid Sarieddeen, all of whom joined over the last year. While the Sundance Institute board typically includes 24-28 members, it expanded this year to add new members and to replace three members whose terms had expired.

The new trustees will work closely with Board chair Pat Mitchell and executive director Keri Putnam in shaping the business, cultural and philanthropic goals of the organization in an advisory capacity.

Fashion designer Kenneth Cole announced he would be stepping down as the chairman of AIDS research charity amfAR after serving on the board for over 30 years and acting as the chairman for the past 14 years.

In a statement obtained by People, Cole said, “I have proudly served on the board of amfAR for more than 30 years, and as its Chairman for the last 14. During that time, we’ve raised hundreds of millions of dollars for groundbreaking research and public advocacy campaigns that continue to save lives across the globe.”

The amfAR Gala New York serves as the unofficial kick-off to New York Fashion Week and honors individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the fight against HIV/AIDS. HBO's documentary "The Battle of amfAR," airing Monday, Dec. 2 - the day after World AIDS Day - reminds us how this pandemic seemed to come out of nowhere 30 years ago and kill an estimated 30 million.

The film traces how two very different women, Elizabeth Taylor and Dr. Mathilde Krim, created the American Foundation for AIDS Research, an international nonprofit dedicated to AIDS research, HIV prevention and advocacy of humane public policy regarding the disease.
