Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, Vice President J.D. Vance, and other high-ranking figures in Donald Trump’s administration recently used an unsecured Signal group chat to discuss plans to bomb Houthi militants in Yemen. The group chat somehow included journalist Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor in chief of The Atlantic, who wrote about the experience on Monday.

President Donald Trump has revoked the security clearances of former President Joe Biden, former Vice President Kamala Harris, and many more of his political foes.

During his 2024 run for the presidency, Donald Trump declared his desire to use the military on United States citizens who disagree with him, demonizing these Americans as the “enemy within.” He would go on to repeat his baseless claims throughout his campaign, from describing “evil” Democrats as more dangerous than China or Russia to targeting his Democratic rivals and the press.
Since taking office, it appears that the president has been following through on his plan to retaliate against his opponents. Earlier this month, a Trump admin revoked security clearances...

Anyone miserable in their jobs will take some solace from Careless People, a blistering new memoir by Sarah Wynn-Williams, former global public policy director at Facebook (since rebranded as Meta). This tale of her years at the company, from her idealistic pitch for an international role in 2011 to her firing in 2017, charts a descent into the swamp of Silicon Valley’s narcissistic greed and frigid amorality, offering personal indictments of several executives to whom she answered, including Joel Kaplan, Sheryl Sandberg, and CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Welcome back, Insiders. Jesse Whittock here taking you back over the week Netflix one-shotted its way to a TV hit and Asian film buyers decamped in Hong Kong. Sign up for the newsletter here.
‘Adolescence’ Is Not Just For Teens
Grown-up TV: If such an award existed, Netflix would have taken home last year’s crown for word-of-mouth TV hit of the year for Richard Gadd’s Baby Reindeer. It may only be March, but the streamer looks to have repeated the trick in 2025. Adolescence, the four-part drama starring Stephen Graham and breakout teenager Owen Cooper, has topped the streamer’s charts in 71 countries after launching on March 13, while amassing a flawless set of reviews. The show has currently got a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 98%/9.2 out of 10, ranking it among the best television shows of this century. As Katie Campione wrote Tuesday, it was watched 24.3 million times around the world over its first few days.

Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has warned against striking a deal with Russia to end the Ukraine War that does not hold the instigators of the 2022 invasion and perpetrators of war crimes to account.
“Everybody would hope that the war in Ukraine could come to an end, and the unjustified suffering of the Ukrainian people could be ended,” Clinton told an event at the pro-democracy Cinema for Peace World Forum in Berlin on Monday.
“But there is no peace without justice; there’s no peace without accountability, and there is no peace without every effort undertaken to end the impunity of those who ordered this invasion and those who perpetuated the killings and the war crime.”

The Cranes Call, a documentary on war crimes in Ukraine directed by Laura Warner and produced by Hillary and Chelsea Clinton’s HiddenLight Productions, will go out worldwide via direct-to-consumer film and event platform Gathr, the producers unveiled Monday.
Warner and Hillary Clinton will present the documentary at the Cinema for Peace World Forum on Monday timed to the Gathr release.
The doc, described as a “real-time crime thriller set in a war zone,” follows war crimes investigator Anya Neistat and her team as they track down survivors of the Russian invasion of Ukraine who are courageous enough to stand against Russian commanders and soldiers accused of war crimes — including rape, torture and murder — against themselves and their families. Neistat is joined by Solomiia Stasiv, a young Ukrainian woman who had begun working in the field following the full-scale Russian invasion on Feb. 24, 2022.

Adrienne Elrod and Rufus Gifford, who have been top strategists on Democratic campaigns and officials in recent presidential administrations, are partnering to launch a new communications, fundraising and strategy firm.
The Elrod Gifford Group will represent individual, non-profit and corporate clients, at a moment when Democrats and progressives grapple with when and how to respond to the Republican dominance at the federal level. Elrod said that the firm will work with clients to “navigate this increasingly challenging and complex world.”
Elrod most recently was senior adviser and senior spokesperson for Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign and, before that, had the same position for President Joe Biden’s reelection bid. She was director of external affairs for the Chips program office for Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo. Elegance Bratton, whose documentary “Move Ya Body: The Birth of House” had its international premiere this week at Thessaloniki Documentary Festival, speaks to Variety about the relevance of house music’s history in Trump’s America, and his feelings as he prepares to shoot crime thriller “By Any Means,” starring Mark Wahlberg and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
Bratton, who first broke through with documentary “Pier Kids” and drama “The Inspection,” and was selected as one of Variety’s 10 Directors to Watch in 2023, has a personal connection to house music because of how it empowered him as a gay teenager. When he was growing up, he was bullied because of his name. “There was all this pressure on me to be less effeminate,” he says. Within his family and community, if he were “naturally flamboyant,” “they attempted to bully or beat it out of me,” he says. Then, on television, he saw...

Carl Kurlander is a screenwriter (St. Elmo’s Fire) who served as a writer-producer for four of Peter Engel’s NBC series. He also teaches at the University of Pittsburgh, where he has made a series of documentaries including the birth of educational television and how AI is poised to transform the way young people learn. He was mentored by Peter Engel, the man behind the TV fixture Saved by the Bell, who died last week. Here, Kurlander contrasts the wildly different paths taken by Engel and Fred Rogers that led each to generate programming that helped kids cope.

House music typically thumps at 120-130 beats per minute, in 4/4 time.
That’s an awfully clinical description of the sound that shakes the floor and the walls at dance clubs around the world. What’s truly important — it makes you move ya body.
That, in fact, is the title of Elegance Bratton’s new documentary – Move Ya Body: The Birth of House, which screens at the Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival on Monday after holding its international premiere at TiDF on Saturday.
Bratton, director of Pier Kids and The Inspection, hails from New Jersey, but his documentary takes him to Chicago, where House Music emerged in the late 1970s. “Out of the underground dance clubs on the South Side,” notes TiDF, “a group of friends turn a new sound into a global movement.”

Quick Links'South Park's History and Hiatus'South Park's 2025 Return
I'm going down to South Park, gonna have myself a time. Well, maybe? The reality is that South Park has been off the air for quite some time. The once-reliable animated stalwart has seen several changes to its schedule in recent years, with most of these shifts decreasing the number of episodes. It's likely not in any real danger of cancellation, as the show's current deal has it renewed through 2027. But that deal also called for a set number of episodes each year, and 2024 fell well short of that target. The series even skipped the 2024 presidential race, the first time in its two-and-a-half-decade history that it has missed an election cycle. So what's going on?

When The Real Housewives of New York premiered in 2008, it mainly focused on the trials and tribulations of six working mothers. As the show progressed, it recruited a wealth of interesting and passionate socialites to help make the show seem more alluring to fans of reality TV. Thus, The Real Housewives of New York often felt different from other installments in this franchise because the characters weren't exactly the typical housewives, they were actually high-powered businesswomen.
Carole Radziwill is a prime example of this. When she joined the show in 2012, she proved that women can be stylish and contemporary whilst still holding their own opinions. A lot of audiences enjoyed Radizwill's presence and appreciated how she brought a lot of witty humor to even the most tense of situations. So why did she decide to leave the show so suddenly and is there any chance that she will return?

Also accused in these allegations were Prince Andrew and Bill Clinton. This was all in the court documents that were released in January of 2023.

[This story contains major spoilers from the Zero Day finale.]
Zero Day ended with a shock when Robert De Niro’s politician did the right thing.
As a former U.S. president pulled back into politics to investigate the perpetrators of a deadly cyberattack, De Niro’s George Mullen put aside pressure from both the show’s current president (played by Angela Bassett) and his own wife Sheila Mullen, played by Joan Allen, to not tell the country the full truth of what he uncovered. That truth would be informing Americans about a homegrown attack involving Big Tech, but also elected officials like Speaker of the House Richard Dreyer, played Matthew Modine, and Mullen’s own idealistic daughter, Rep. Alexandra Mullen, played by Lizzy Caplan.
But in the end, that’s exactly what he did. He told the country the truth and faced the consequences. Mullen’s daughter turns herself in, and his wife leaves him; the...

“The Real Housewives of the White House.”
Those seven words about the sordid reality TV franchise were really all Bill Maher had to say tonight on HBO’s Real Time of the Oval Office shouting match Friday after showing footage of the very undiplomatic exchange.
Everybody gets it.
A fiasco that saw a flattery seeking Donald Trump blow his stack at Volodymyr Zelensky when the Ukrainian President tried to deliver some truths to the former Celebrity Apprentice host about Vladimir Putin’s trustworthiness. At the end of the 15-minute blow-up, with VP Jd Vance as vice enabler, Trump revealed himself by saying “This is going to be great television.”
“In World War III news, we’re on the other side now,” Maher also said Friday just hours after the White House debacle that put Trump once again on the same side Putin.

It’ll be debated for some time whether Donald Trump’s confrontation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was spontaneous or a pre-planned ambush, but by the end of the 15-minute exchange Friday, Trump relished how it would all play: “This is going to be great television.”
The idea that Trump has created a reality TV presidency is well-worn, but the reaction to the shout-fest, that it signals a breakdown in U.S.-Ukrainian relations and perhaps Western alliances, is hardly trivial.
“Wow, just wow,” said CNN’s Dana Bash, after the network finished running video of the exchange, before going to the network’s chief White House correspondents and then foreign correspondents to talk about the implications.
Such reactions continued throughout the day as the story dominated cable news and social media.

Despite what any conservative comedian, cultural commentator or podcaster may think, there’s really nothing particularly “woke” about chaining your wife to a radiator.
Over the last year or so, the greater comedy community has seen a bizarre shift in sentiment toward one of the stand-up industry’s brightest stars and most respected voices. According to the likes of Andrew Schulz and Ben Shapiro, Bill Burr, who made a career mocking such sensitive topics as women, political correctness, male feminists, Hillary Clinton and women, is now the ideological equal to the most bespectacled, blue-haired, bleeding-hearted, gender-non-conforming sophomore at Sarah Lawrence College.
Following Burr’s recent explosive rant about how America needs to “put down” all the “rabid dog” billionaires who are sowing division while robbing the middle and working classes blind, the conservative side of the comedy culture war judged the Monday Morning Podcast host to be the “wokest of the woke” comedians.

If there’s one thing you can rely on “Saturday Night Live” for, it’s delivering good celebrity impressions. Some are so good, in fact, that they draw the actual celebrity into a sketch with them.
Most recently, it happened when then-Vice President Kamala Harris stopped by just before the 2024 election to give Maya Rudolph’s version of Kamala Harris a pep talk. But this is a tradition that goes back literal decades. So, we rounded up each one we could find.
You can relive them below.
Eddie Murphy and Tracy Morgan
During the “SNL50” celebration, the show brought back “Black Jeopardy,” featuring Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan and Eddie Murphy as contestants. Of course, Eddie Murphy was actually playing Tracy Morgan.

(Updated with video) Saturday Night Live has had a lot of Potus mocking over the decades, but you wouldn’t have known it from Sunday’s SNL50: The Anniversary Special.
Tonight’s live show had Alec Baldwin, Will Ferrell, Jay Pharoah, Tina Fey, Jason Sudeikis, Maya Rudolph and Amy Poehler in attendance but there was nothing of the presidents and presidential candidates they’ve played and poked fun at over nearly 10 presidencies.
In an era where Donald Trump and the FCC are targeting the media and media owners, Baldwin’s acclaimed impression of the former Celebrity Apprentice and SNL host was noticeably absent. Whether or not it was the chill of further legal and regulatory action against NBC owners Comcast, with almost everything else and the kitchen sink from SNL‘s history on screen tonight, seeing no politics out of the Potus-mocking show’s long legacy was almost as rank...

President Donald Trump said it’s too early to decide whether he will anoint Vice President Jd Vance as his “successor” ahead of the 2028 election.
In an interview with Fox News anchor Bret Baier, Trump was asked, “Do you view Vice President Jd Vance as your successor, the Republican nominee 2028?”
“No, but he’s competent,” Trump replied, “I think you have a lot of competent people; so far, I think he’s doing a fantastic job. It’s too early. We’re just starting.”
“By the time we get to the midterms,” Baier interjected, “[Vance] is going to be looking for an endorsement.”
“A lot of people have said that this has been the greatest opening almost three weeks in the history of the presidency,” Trump went on without answering the question.

We’re celebrating 50 years of “Saturday Night Live”! All this week, we’re digging into the late-night comedy institution with new stories, including lists, essays, interviews, and more.
The most recent “Saturday Night Live” sketch to go viral — or at least, the most recent one that multiple of this writer’s own friends sent to him — was the type of joke that you could easily find by scouring gay stan Twitter. On a December 2024 episode of the venerated sketch comedy series, Jane Wickline popped onto Weekend Update to sing a song about Sabrina Carpenter. Or, as she amusingly put it beforehand, a song in which she is Sabrina Carpenter bemoaning how nobody is creating lesbian rumors about her like her peers Olivia Rodrigo or Taylor Swift.
The sketch proved a bit polarizing: many (perhaps older people) didn’t get it, while others recognized the sense of humor right away: a younger,...

Saturday Night Live is celebrating its five decades with SNL50: The Anniversary Special, a three-hour event airing Sunday that brings together former cast members, beloved guest hosts, and current stars. As NBC’s sketch-comedy series takes a stroll down memory lane all the way back to its debut year of 1975, Gold Derby is fine-tuning our approach and reliving all of its most talked-about, influential, and downright hilarious moments that aired between 2001 and today.
Here are the 25 best SNL sketches of the past 25 years.
1. Debbie Downer: Disney World

You can’t please all the people all of the time — even if you’re as popular as Taylor Swift. Having attained a somehow higher level of mega-celebrity with her record-breaking Eras Tour and a closely followed romance with Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs (who are headed back to the Super Bowl as the defending NFL champs), the singer now faces the perplexing wrath of Maga conspiracy theorists who have decided the league and the relationship are rigged to help Joe Biden’s chances in the 2024 presidential election.

The Sopranos had its fair share of shocking deaths, but not all of them were scripted from the start. One cast member took matters into her own hands, demanding a brutal exit after battling a real-life addiction that mirrored her on-screen struggles.

CNN is talking about Elon Musk’s “balls” again.

Amid the Trump administration’s blitz on executive branch operations, a Hollywood outpost of the U.S. State Department has gone offline. The website of American Film Showcase, a global cultural diplomacy partnership between the agency and the University of Southern California’s vaunted School of Cinematic Arts, is now unavailable — and its Instagram and Facebook accounts have been deactivated.
What’s going on?
On Monday afternoon, an agency spokesperson assured The Hollywood Reporter that Afs “continues to be a Department of State program and activities are ongoing.” Kristin Borella, an associate dean and head of communications at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, added that all programs funded by the State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs “are being reviewed to ensure compliance with [President Donald Trump’s] Executive Orders, including our public online presence.”

Actor Pete Davidson revealed that he is removing hundreds of tattoos from his body, all in the name of a clean slate.
“They got to burn off a layer of your skin, and then it has to heal for like six to eight weeks,” Davidson told The Tonight Show of the prolonged process, calling it “horrible” to go through. “You can’t go out in the sunlight, and then you gotta do it like 12 more times. So think about that Game of Thrones tattoo you’re considering getting, alright?” he
Davidson added that he intended to keep two or three of his tattoos while trying to start with a clean slate, noting that he was sad as a child and gained inspiration from rapper Post Malone for his collection. The 2025 Super Bowl will have some very famous stars in attendance. However, two of the most notable confirmed attendees – Taylor Swift and President Donald Trump – have some very bad blood.
The 35-year-old pop titan will be at the game on Sunday (February 9) to cheer on boyfriend Travis Kelce. Her suite will be heavily televised during the game and will likely host multiple famous friends.
Meanwhile, the 78-year-old president confirmed that he would be traveling to New Orleans for the game earlier this week. It marks the first time that a sitting president has attended the event.
Travis said that it was “a great honor” to have Donald attend the game. However, Taylor might feel differently since the politician has some beef with her and hasn’t hesitated to insult her over the years.
We put together everything you need to know about Donald‘s beef with Taylor.

A week before President Donald Trump was set to be sworn-in in front of a scaled-down crowd at the Capitol Rotunda, Washington D.C. felt completely still. Eight years earlier, the city had been electric with dissent, planes and busloads full of protesters already arriving, eager to demonstrate their displeasure with the incoming administration. This time around, there was no Disrupt J20, and only a fraction of the crowd that coursed through the capital in 2017 materialized for this year’s Women’s March. Trump’s opposition was still so dejected...

During his time as host of SNL’s Weekend Update, Norm Macdonald’s favorite person to ridicule, of course, was O.J. Simpson, which he’d pay the ultimate price for. Okay, maybe not the “ultimate price” according to O.J.’s definition, but Macdonald did lose his job at SNL because of those jokes.
O.J. wasn’t Macdonald’s only punching bag though, as he had a few other recurring characters he loved to take it to. Here are five of them…
5 David Hasselhoff
Every chance Macdonald got to bring up the name “David Hasselhoff,” he took it. It wasn’t even that he’d ridicule Hasselhoff, Macdonald just loved the running gag where he’d say, “Which once again proves my theory: Germans love David Hasselhoff.”
Which, of course, they do, as has been statistically proven.
4 Hillary Clinton
Clinton was a frequent target of Macdonald’s, including references to her being the “First Bitch.

When Donald Trump was invited to host “Saturday Night Live” just months after launching his presidential campaign in 2015, the decision stunned staffers and left months of lingering tensions behind the scenes, per The Daily Beast. Previewing the upcoming book “Lorne: The Man Who Invented Saturday Night Live” by Susan Morrison, the publication notes that then-writer Tim Robinson was quoted as saying series creator and showrunner Lorne Michaels had “lost his fucking mind” bringing Trump to the show. Robinson, who would go on to co-create and star in Netflix’s sketch series “I Think You Should Leave” in 2019, was working on the writing staff after having previously been a cast member.
“Lorne has lost his fucking mind and someone needs to shoot him in the back of the head,” Robinson is written to have said around the time of Trump’s hosting spot, per Morrison’s book.

Even some high-ranking ESPN employees were shocked by the Maga video. Presidents have appeared on the network’s broadcasts before, but usually for some idle chumminess, like Barack Obama and his March Madness picks, or during an emergency, as Joe Biden did at the Sugar Bowl in...

Just over a month after his death on Dec. 29, 2024, at age 100, Jimmy Carter won a posthumous Grammy for Best Audio Book, Narration, and Storytelling Recording for Last Sundays in Plains: A Centennial Celebration. He defeated Barbra Streisand (My Name Is Barbra), Dolly Parton (Behind the Seams: My Life in Rhinestones), producer Guy Oldfield (All You Need Is Love: The Beatles in Their Own Words), and George Clinton (…And Your Ass Will Follow). It was Carter’s fourth victory after a storied post-presidential career, the longest of any former president in U.S. history.
Carter’s one term in office was beset by challenges including economic stress, an energy crisis, and the Iran hostage crisis, the last of which largely contributed to his failure to secure a second term in the White House. He was defeated by Ronald Reagan in 1980 and left office in 1981, after which Carter focused on humanitarian work,...

Willie Geist may have hosted Sunday Today since 2016, but a first for the show has him feeling “shocked” and “overwhelmed.”
He often fills in on Today when one of the show’s big names, like Craig Melvin or Dylan Dreyer, is out.
Willie is also a regular commentator on the MSNBC show Morning Joe and often shows up on Saturday Today next to Laura Jarrett.
But he seems most at home on the Sunday Today set, where he interviewed everyone from Hillary Clinton to Chip and Joanna Gaines.
It is at Sunday Today that, in a first for the veteran interviewer, he commented on the speed at which tickets for a Live show sold out.
Willie has hosted Sunday Today for years but has never performed in front of a live audience until now. It is astounding to learn how many people love him and the show.

Madonna made her return to standup comedy in New York City over the weekend, reports The Sun.
The Queen of Pop stopped by the Comedy Cellar on Saturday night thanks to an invitation from her buddy Amy Schumer, performing a full 30-minute set at the iconic club. According to the tabloid, it was a bit of a rough night for Madonna.
“She did well enough, but the audience was so stunned it was Madonna that it took them the entire set to warm up to her,” a source told The Sun. “She didn’t do as well as you’d think she would, she got laughs every time she dropped F-bomb, because just hearing Madonna curse is funny.”
Apparently, the highlight of Madonna’s set was a joke about not having “any staff left” if Trump continued his mass deportations. Yikes.

Yikes.

Exclusive: Sophie Grégoire Trudeau’s memoir-cum-manifesto ‘Closer Together: Knowing Ourselves, Loving Each Other’ is getting the doc series treatment.
The retired TV presenter, celebrity interviewer and former partner of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s bestseller has been picked up by Canadian producer Sphere Media.
Each of six self-contained episodes will feature well-known personalities from the worlds of culture, sports, politics and business, with Grégoire Trudeau using her interview skills to draw out guests and give them the space to candidly talk about personal struggles, challenges and truths.
The doc series will also feature professionals working at the cutting edge of mental health research, therapy and brain therapy. The tone will look to normalize and destigmatize mental health despite the scientific focus.
Sphere Media’s SVP of Development and Content, Kim Bondi, is leading on development with Sphere co-producing alongside Grégoire Trudeau. It’s early stages right now, so no network or streamer is attached.

Elegance Bratton’s documentary “Move Ya Body,” which tracks both the artistic evolution of house music and its historical and sociopolitical impact, emerged from the unlikeliest of sources: Hillary Clinton.
Bratton and “Move Ya Body” producers Roger Ross Williams and Chester Algernal Gordon visited the IndieWire Studio at Sundance, presented by Dropbox, to discuss the origins of the film. Williams was approached by the former Secretary of State, a Chicago native with a deep passion for the city’s distinct brand of joyfully repetitive dance music. He then brought Bratton, who was eager for a fun “palette cleanser” after directing “The Inspection,” on board.
“The project was brought to me by Roger, and he was like ‘I’ve got this project with Hillary Clinton, because she loves house music,” Bratton said. “I didn’t know she was a house head!”

Chrisley Knows Best alum, Savannah Chrisley produced proof that she petitioned President Donald Trump to consider a pardon for Todd and Julie Chrisley. Many people believe it won’t happen and that she’s delusional. However, the family has a long history of being his supporters.

Chrisley Knows Best critics mocked Todd’s daughter for addressing the RNC last year ahead of the election. And, they also slammed her when she visited Mar-a-Lago more than once. Next, they mocked her hope for a pardon, claiming they didn’t have enough money to pay Trump for one. Overall, it seems critics don’t know how long the Chrisley Knows Best stars have been involved in pro-Trump politics.
