Cameo of Mama June adds nothing to Dumb and Dumber To, incomprehensible choice by directors, missed the mark. Animal cruelty in Dumb and Dumber To escalates, crossing boundary from humor to distasteful and offensive, not funny.
Dumb and Dumber will forever remain a classic to many millennials due to the hilarious antics and crazy one-liners from Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels' harmless characters, Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne. It was one of those films that you could not help but tell your friends about, mostly because you could not stop quoting it. When the second film came out, fans were not too excited because Carrey and Daniels had no part in it.

Dumb and Dumber To is back on Netflix's Top 3, driven by nostalgia and Jim Carrey's popularity. The sequel, originally criticized on its theatrical release, stars a comedic duo on a road trip adventure, receiving mixed reviews. Carrey and Daniels' 20-year reunion was praised, making the film a moderate box office success.
Dumb and Dumber To has made a surprising leap into the Netflix Top 3. The 10-year-old movie starring Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels was a belated sequel to the 1994 Farrelly brothers comedy Dumb and Dumber, but the two-decade hiatus did not make fans crave the over-the-top antics of Lloyd Christmas (Carrey) and Harry Dunne (Daniels) a second time around. However, like so many older movies, the film is finding a new lease of life on the streaming platform.
Dumb and Dumber To begins with Lloyd having spent 20 years in a psychiatric hospital following his romantic rejection by his would-be girlfriend Mary.

Chicago – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com appears on “The Morning Mess” with Dan Baker on Wbgr-fm on March 7th, 2024, reviewing “Ricky Stanicky,” featuring John Cena in a comedic dual role, directed by Pater Farrelly. Streaming on Prime Video.
Rating: 3.5/5.0
Cena portrays the title character, but not until a third into the film. Three buddies, Dean, Jt and Wes have used the name Ricky Stanicky their whole lives to either get out of trouble or as adults get out of responsibility. While playing hooky in Atlantic City, they meet the actor Rod (Cena), and to expand the lie they hire him to portray Ricky Stanicky for their families. Let the wackiness ensue.
”Ricky Stanicky” is currently streaming on Prime Video. Featuring Zac Efron, John Cena, Andrew Santino, Jermaine Fowler and William H. Macy. Screenplay by Peter Farrelly, Jeffrey Bushnell, Brian Jarvis, Jamie Lee Freeman, Pete Jones and Mike Cerrone. Directed by Peter Farrelly.

Plot: After decades of lying about a fake friend named Ricky Stanicky, who they use as a get-out-of-jail-free card, three buddies are caught in a lie and have to produce a real version of their imaginary friend to their families. They hired an Atlantic City low-life (John Cena) to pretend to be Stanicky, but he enjoys playing the part so much that he refuses to leave town.

Well, it took Peter Farrelly exactly two movies to go from winning Best Picture back to making broad comedies about dog boners; I guess some people never change. Of course, “Green Book” was only about two dog boners away from being as dumb — or dumber — than a Farrelly classic like “There’s Something About Mary” to begin with, but even so, the funniest thing about “Ricky Stanicky” might be how recently its director was holding an Oscar on the stage of the Dolby Theater.
Actually, no: The funniest thing about “Ricky Stanicky” is the sight of John Cena dressed as Alice Cooper and singing “Sploooooooge out. My. Penis” to the tune of “School’s Out” (for summer), which is one of the signature “jizz jams” his character performs at the semen-themed musical revue he launched after his dog-fucking show was canceled because “Atlantic City went all woke.”
Anyway, those are the two funny things about “Ricky Stanicky.

Peter Farrelly’s Ricky Stanicky concerns a trio of best friends who create an imaginary person to blame for their misdeeds. As the years go by, Dean (Zac Efron), Jt (Andrew Santino), and Wes (Jermaine Fowler) continue using “Ricky” as an excuse any time they want to skip, say, a family gathering or sneak out on a boys’ weekend. In such moments, they simply tell their significant others that Ricky really needs them right now.
That’s a solid enough setup for a film, a kind of coming-of-middle-age comedy in the vein of Jeff Tomsic’s Tag, where the characters’ commitment to a childhood tradition ends up jeopardizing their adult lives in the process. But where the antics of Tag’s characters effectively captured the stupid joy of acting like your younger self while hanging out with your oldest friends, Ricky Stanicky is stupid in a much less joyful way.

Dumb And Dumber’s Peter Farrelly’s latest film is Ricky Stanicky for Amazon Prime Video. Here’s the trailer and some details…
The Farrelly Brothers will forever be synonymous with slapstick, gross-out comedies like Dumb and Dumber and There’s Something About Mary, both of which are, gag for gag, among the funniest films of the 1990s.

John Cena is the best friend whom Zac Efron never had in the first trailer for Prime Video’s comedy Ricky Stanicky.
Peter Farrelly directed the Amazon MGM Studios feature that begins streaming March 7. The movie follows Dean (Efron) and two lifelong friends who invent an imaginary pal named Ricky Stanicky as someone to blame for a childhood prank gone wrong. The three buddies continue to attribute their mishaps over the years to the nonexistent friend until finally deciding to hire a struggling actor known as “Rock Hard” Rod (Cena) to portray Ricky when their partners want to meet him.
“Ricky Stanicky isn’t real,” Efron tells Cena, who appears to be taking the gig too far. This leads Cena to explain why he wants to continue playing the part: “My job sucked, I had no friends. But now I have all those things.”

John Cena (Peacemaker) stars as a failed actor who agrees to take on the most challenging (and freeing) role of his life in Prime Video’s Ricky Stanicky. The nearly three-minute trailer introduces a trio of best friends who’ve blamed everything wrong on their imaginary best friend. Enter Cena as that imaginary friend.
Zac Efron (The Iron Claw), Andrew Santino (Dave), and Jermaine Fowler (Sorry to Bother You) star as the BFFs. The cast also includes Lex Scott Davis, Anja Savcic, Jeff Ross, and William H. Macy.

Peter Farrelly made his name in Hollywood by directing raunchy comedies such as "Dumb and Dumber" and "There's Something About Mary" alongside his brother, Bobby Farrelly. Since going solo, however, Peter Farrelly has been making more serious fare such as the Oscar-winning "Green Book." But now, he's back with an R-rated comedy in the form of "Ricky Stanicky." With an A-list cast and a ridiculous premise, it looks like a throwback in every conceivable way. Check out the trailer above for yourself.
Here, Farrelly is re-teaming with Zac Efron, who worked with him on "The Greatest Beer Run Ever." While Efron is coming off of the most serious performance of his career in "The Iron Claw," this sees him going back to his comedic roots, having previously starred in films like "Neighbors" and "Dirty Grandpa." Meanwhile, John Cena is getting to flex his comedic chops as well as the titular character.

What happens when a decades-old white lie starts snowballing out of control? Well, Zac Efron, Jermaine Fowler, Andrew Santino, and John Cena are all about to find out in Peter Farrelly’s new comedy film, Ricky Stanicky, which shared its first trailer today.
Set to premiere on Prime Video on March 7th, Ricky Stanicky tells the story of three longtime friends who have invented an imaginary character, named “Ricky Stanicky,” to strategically blame their misbehavior on. When their latest Stanicky antic doesn’t go as planned, though, their families begin to question what’s really going on. Hoping to quell any suspicions, the three come up with a solution: hire an actor to pretend to be Stanicky.
Landing on washed-up, X-rated, rock ‘n’ roll impersonator, Rock Hard Rod (Cena), as their Stanicky, the three’s plan seems to work at first. But as the uber-charismatic — albeit, brazen — Rock Hard Rod gets a new job,...

Everyone agrees that white lies can be harmless. Sometimes, we tell them to keep a person’s feelings from getting hurt or to prevent ourselves from getting into too much trouble. However, white lies are slippery, especially if you’ve been telling the same one for years. White lies can evolve to become one of the biggest mistakes you’ll ever make. In the end, it’s best not to tell them. In Peter Farrelly‘s Ricky Stanicky trailer, three friends invent a friend who conveniently pulls them away from their lives whenever they need a break from reality. Unfortunately, their lie is getting called out, and they need someone to become the person they’ve been lying about for years.

The Efron-assaince is still in full swing. Zac Efron continues his career comeback on the heels of his buzzy turn in critically acclaimed “The Iron Claw” by teaming up again with his “The Greatest Beer Run Ever” director Peter Farrelly. Yet this time, Efron and Farrelly are both returning to their comedy roots with the Prime Video feature “Ricky Stanicky.”
Farrelly directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jeff Bushell, Brian Jarvis, James Lee Freeman, Pete Jones, and Mike Cerrone. The film follows a trio of childhood best friends who long ago devised the perfect (and imaginary) scapegoat pal to blame all their wild adventures on. However, now that they are adults, they actually need to answer for their immaturity … by hiring a make-believe friend (John Cena) to fill that fake role.

The Three Stooges didn.t make too much of a splash when it was released back in 2012. Not only did it only gross $50.4 million from its $30 million budget, but it was met with lukewarm reviews, as well. However, C3 Entertainment, Grand Peaks Entertainment, and The Exchange clearly still see some kind of potential in the comedy because the studios have banded together to order a sequel, which will bring its three leading actors, Sean Hayes, Chris Diamantopoulos and Will Sasso, back too. According to Deadline, Cameron Fay has been hired to write the follow-up, while it.s still not known if the Farrelly Brothers will return for joint director duties. However, as Bobby and Peter Farrelly wrote the original alongside Mike Cerrone before they then went on to direct, it.s highly unlikely that they will decide to step into the breach again, having not been given the responsibility of...

Two decades after Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels’ endearingly dense pairing spun slapstick comedy into box office gold in Dumb and Dumber, the long-awaited sequel, Dumb and Dumber To, arrives on DVD and Blu-ray Combo Pack and On Demand on February 17, 2015 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. Directed by Peter and Bobby Farrelly (Dumb and Dumber; There’s Something about Mary; Me, Myself and Irene) the Dumb and Dumber To Blu-ray Combo Pack offers hilarious extra belly laughs including an alternate opening, deleted and extended scenes, and a multi-part feature that takes viewers behind the scenes of the no-holds-barred comedy.
The side-splitting sequel also stars Rob Riggle (The Hangover, 21 Jump Street), Kathleen Turner (Marley & Me, Romancing the Stone), Laurie Holden (“The Walking Dead,” Silent Hill), Rachel Melvin (My Funny Valentine, “Days of Our Lives”), and Steve Tom(“Major Crimes,” Seven Pounds).

Chicago – “Dumb And Dumber To” is an exercise in diminishing returns. Jim Carrey and the Farrelly Brothers expend twice the effort for less than a third of the laughs. It benefits greatly from the enormous well of goodwill created by the original’s inspired idiocy.
But one can only suspend disbelief for so long and this sequel has problems that the warm glow of nostalgia can’t solve.
Rating: 2.5/5.0
Picking up 20 years after the original, Carrey and Daniels head back out on the road to find the daughter Daniels never knew he had. The script – which is credited to six writers – uses the plot as the flimsiest of clotheslines on which to hang its physical gags.
It’s less a movie than a string of punchlines in search of a decent setup. Some work, but many many do not. The first time Carrey pulls an elaborate fake out routine on Daniels it’s mildly amusing.

Dumb and Dumber To
Written by Sean Anders, Mike Cerrone, Bobby Farrelly, Peter Farrelly, John Morris & Bennett Yellin
Directed by Bobby Farrelly & Peter Farrelly
USA, 2014
Once upon a time, the Farrelly Brothers constructed sight gags capable of reaching new heights (or depths, as the case may be). Right about the time Brett Favre was murdering comedy in There’s Something About Mary, however, they abandoned their bread and butter in favor of a “comic spaghetti” approach. Meaning, they throw as many gags at the wall as possible and see what sticks. Thanks to the comic chemistry of Carrey and Daniels, Dumb and Dumber To is just sticky enough to justify its existence.
It’s almost impossible to remember what a sensation Dumb and Dumber was back in 1994. Not only was it the driving force that introduced Jim Carrey to the world (along with The Mask and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective,...

It's hard to believe that it's been 20 years since Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels (who, it should be noted, got billing above the one-time box office titan) donned ridiculously bad tuxedoes and charmed the world with the non-stop stupidity of "Dumb and Dumber." But, this being the Hollywood of 2014, which is desperate to revive any property, no matter how old or irrelevant, just because of passing name recognition (there was, we should remember, a "Red Dawn" remake), Harry (Daniels) and Lloyd (Carrey) are back and dumber than ever in "Dumb and Dumber To."
In this long-overdue sequel, Harry and Lloyd are attempting to track down Harry's long-lost daughter, since he is in desperate need of a kidney transplant. So, of course, a wacky road trip comedy ensues, and plenty of gross-out humor is to be had.

A new TV spot has been released for Dumb And Dumber To, and it is not only packed with new gags, it also gives us a look at Jim Carrey.s Lloyd Christmas wearing a rather sparkly new suit that just so happens to be able to fire lasers. You can check out the clip above. What did you think? It certainly possesses some laughs, but judgement on the hugely anticipated sequel is still definitely being reserved until it finally hits cinemas on November 14. Of course, there is no denying the fact that Carrey and his co-star, Jeff Daniels (who will reprise the character of Harry Dunne) have clearly stepped back into the shoes of their preposterously stupid characters with ease. Harry Dunne (Jeff Daniels) and Lloyd Christmas (Jim Carrey) are back back back. We know this for sure because Carrey posted a couple of photos of the pair in costume as they began shooting Dumb And Dumber To. With Peter and Bobby Farrelly back directing, the sequel has now added Jennifer Lawrence and Rob Riggle.Well, we say Lawrence is aboard: she popped in to the Atlanta set to shoot a one-day commitment as a younger version of Katherine Turner’s character, Fraida Feltcher. Riggle, meanwhile, will be twins, appearing as both a handyman named Travis and his unstable brother, Captain Lippencott. The pair joins a cast that already includes Daniels, Carrey, Turner, Rachel Melvin, Laurie Holden, Steve Tom, Cam Neely and Lindsay Ayliffe for the story of Lloyd and Harry heading out to find Harry’s long-lost daughter to provide him with a kidney transplant. Along the way, they...

Rob Riggle has signed on for one of the last major roles in Universal's comedy sequel Dumb and Dumber To, which is currently shooting in Atlanta.
The actor is actually taking on a dual role, portraying Travis, a handyman, and his unstable twin brother Captain Lippencott. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels reprise their roles as Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne from 1994's Dumb and Dumber, who hit the road once again to find Harry's long-lost daughter, who is in need of a kidney transplant. We first reported on the sequel's story last August, although it wasn't known which of the duo's child it was until now.
The supporting cast includes Kathleen Turner, Brady Bluhm, Laurie Holden, Rachel Melvin and Steve Tom.
Bobby Farrelly and Peter Farrelly are directing from a screenplay the co-wrote with Bennett Yellin and Mike Cerrone. Sean Anders and John Morris wrote an earlier draft of the script.

It’s been almost two decades since they first took to the screen, and now Harry and Lloyd are officially making their return with Jim Carrey sharing the first photo from the set of Dumb and Dumber To.
Talk of a sequel has been circling for years, and now it’s finally happening. The original was a lot of fun, the 2003 prequel (which featured a different cast) largely went unseen, and it’s going to be interesting to see how audiences receive the long-awaited sequel, twenty years on.
Jeff Daniels and Carrey are of course back once more as Harry and Lloyd, with Laurie Holden (The Walking Dead) recently taking the female antagonist lead, alongside Kathleen Turner, Rachel Melvin, Cam Neely, Brady Bluhm, and Steve Tom.

It's been ten years since the disappointing prequel, Dumb And Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd. More importantly, it's been 19 years since Dumb And Dumber, the laxative-fuelled farce that made millions laugh uproariously (and want to buy a dog-shaped car) back in 1994. Next year comes Dumb And Dumber To, the long-awaited sequel from The Farrelly Brothers that reunites Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey with their alter egos, Harry Dunne and Lloyd Christmas. And if you were looking for proof that it's actually happening, check out Carrey's toothy grin above.Tweeted via his WhoSay account, it's the closest the world's come to a still from the project, which has gone through a long period of production trouble. At one point, Carrey didn't want to be involved, then Carrey was back in, then Warner Bros. pulled out, then Red Granite stepped in.. and now everything seems to be smooth sailing, with Sean Anders,...

Stars: Sean Hayes, Will Sasso, Chris Diamantopoulos, Jane Lynch, Sofia Vergara, Jennifer Hudson, Craig Bierko, Stephen Collins, Larry David | Written by Bobby Farrelly, Peter Farrelly, Mike Cerrone | Directed by Bobby Farrelly, Peter Farrelly
As if bringing us Stooge-like comedy with Stuck on You and Dumb and Dumber wasn’t enough, The Farrelly Brothers take on the sacred-cow of comedy with a modern-day reinterpretation of the classic slapstick of Larry, Curly and Moe in The Three Stooges…
Abandoned on a nun’s doorstep, Larry, Curly and Moe grow up finger-poking, nyuk-nyuking and woo-woo-wooing their way to uncharted levels of knuckleheaded calamity. But when the orphanage that took them in is at risk of shutting down the brothers make it their miracle mission to save their childhood home. The hapless trio are always landing themselves in trouble and now they are at risk of becoming entangled in an oddball murder plot.

The Three Stooges has been pushed with some quite terrible trailers. But the final film is really quite good...
One day at the Sisters of Mercy orphanage, a speeding car blaring Roadrunner by the Modern Lovers tosses out a duffel bag. When Sister Mary-Mengele (Larry David) opens the bag up, she gets a pair of fingers into the eye. Inside that bag would be three babies. One has a bowl cut. One has a frizzy balding Afro. The other is bald. Enter the Three Stooges: Larry (Sean Hayes), Moe (Chris Diamantopoulos), and Curly (Will Sasso).
The film tracks the Stooges through three stages of their life, starting with their young days at the orphanage, then later as they try to raise the money needed to save it. Along the way the boys live in a dumpster, get involved in a murder plot, and somehow become reality television stars. Three...

Chicago – Moe, Larry and Curly are three of the most popular names in the show business universe, and bringing them back to life in the new film “The Three Stooges” was a questionable risk. The re-imaging, with Chris Diamantopoulous, Sean Hayes and Will Sasso filling the trio’s roles, is a loving tribute that unfortunately veers in too many “Un-Stooge” like directions.
Rating: 3.0/5.0
What works immediately is the care and detail given the famous comedy team by the three leads stepping into the personalities. It was obvious that they wanted to make sure that the Stooge essence was honored, and that mission was accomplished. None of the three pushed the characters, they simply played them as faithfully as their talent could deliver. The standout was Chris Diamantopoulous’s Moe, who honored the character (and subsequently, the real man) so much that it felt like a time machine has transported the...

First, the good news: this is a heartfelt homage to The Three Stooges of yore, and its leading actors do a remarkable job of channeling Moe, Larry and Curly. Kids who have never seen the Stooges, and adults who haven’t revisited them lately, may have a good time, as the audience did when I saw the film the other night, but ultimately, the movie is the comedy equivalent of a cubic zirconia: an imitation. That may well satisfy moviegoers starved for slapstick and sight gags, which we don’t see very much anymore. Bobby and Peter Farrelly, who directed this feature (and wrote it with Mike Cerrone), serve up a heavy dose of straight-up silliness. But in the Age of Irony, the...

There doesn't seem to be a single pressing reason for the Farrelly Brothers to have made a Three Stooges-less movie titled "The Three Stooges." Bobby and Peter Farrelly's love of the Stooges is well-known, but they should have left well enough alone after "Dumb and Dumber," a superior and certainly easier to swallow Stooges homage. For starters, the three comedians in the Farrellys' new and more direct tribute's title roles just don't have any comedic chemistry. Geographically, the Farrellys' trio may be close-knit but beyond that, there's nothing to suggest that Sean Hayes, Will Sasso and Chris Diamantopoulos are an organically united group. It should be noted that there's also nothing categorically wrong with the Farrellys reusing their idols' routines. But if the actors playing the Stooges can't form a good, cohesive troupe of comedians, resurrecting Moe, Larry and Curly is pointless.
At this point, it should also...
