The film is coming off of its premiere as the opening film of the Toronto Film Festival, where it sold to Hulu for eight figures, in the first splashy deal of the fest. Also starring Linda Cardellini, Edi Patterson, Tim Heidecker and Toby Hussles, pic is produced by Rivulet’s Rob Paris and Mike Witherill, and Rough House’s Nate Meyer.

Deadline’s Crew Call continues its spotlight on the revolutionaries of social media who are impacting the film and TV industry with Gen-z mom vlogger-turned-absurdist online talk show host Bobbi Althoff.
Similar to our previous social media guests — actor/comedic performer Adam Rose and teen K-drama series Alan’s Universe architect and star Alan Chikin Chow — Althoff is burning a trail for herself in the entertainment industry and leading her own burgeoning empire of brand endorsements and more at a time when the film and TV spheres are undergoing contraction and confusion about what consumers crave.
For Althoff, host and creator of The Really Good Podcast, pop culture is still the rage for many; it’s just how you harness it. Her deadpan talk show style, unprepared host styling and fearless demeanor to call guests out on their sh*t has lassoed her 13 million followers across social media, regularly topping the podcast charts,...

After starring as Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four and before stealing our hearts as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Chris Evans played a role in yet another film adapted from comic books – Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. However, instead of his usual hero roles, the actor played one of the seven villains in the film – Lucas Lee.
Chris Evans as Lucas Lee in Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World | Universal Pictures
Lucas Lee plays a stereotypical Hollywood actor who basically seems like a total douchebag. Anyone who has seen Chris Evans outside of his reel life, perhaps in the countless interviews he has done, would vouch for the fact that the guy is an absolute ball of joy. So, how did he play Lucas Lee to such perfection? Even he was confused when he got compliments on nailing the role!

Amy Schumer’s Life & Beth is no longer.
Hulu has canceled the dramedy after two seasons. The move is not a huge surprise as the second season finished in February, and while Hulu obviously didn’t release any viewing data, it failed to crack Nielsen’s streaming list.
Written, directed, executive produced and starring Schumer, Life & Beth follows Beth (Schumer), whose life looks pretty great on paper. Impressive to everyone she grew up with, she makes a good living as a wine distributor. She’s in a long-term relationship with an attractive, successful guy and lives in Manhattan. But when a sudden incident forces her to engage with her past, her life changes forever.

It’s the end of the line for Life & Beth.
Hulu has canceled the dramedy, created by and starring Amy Schumer, after two seasons. The second (and now final) installment of the show debuted on the Disney-owned streamer in February.
The series follows Beth (Schumer), a woman with “a cool job, a great apartment” and a boyfriend (Kevin Kane) “who’s a New York eight,” as she says in the show’s first episode, who comes to realize how dissatisfied she is with her life. Is there anything Maya Rudolph can’t do? It’s a serious question, as the comedy superstar reigns as this year’s Emmy nominations Mvp. Rudolph earned four nominations — a stunning achievement in itself, but made even more impressive because those nods come from three different programs. She’s nominated in comedy lead actress for Apple TV+’s “Loot” (just renewed for a third season), in character voice-over for her role as Connie the Hormone Monstress in Netflix’s animated “Big Mouth,” and in comedy guest actress for her hosting stint on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” (which also got her an original music and lyrics nod for her monologue tune).
It’s quite a year for Emmy overachievers. Several acting stars also landed writing noms, like Quinta Brunson (“Abbott Elementary”), Richard Gadd (“Baby Reindeer”) and Donald Glover (“Mr. & Mrs. Smith”). Others nominated thesps are also producers on their nominated best series.

Gen X kids grew up with a steady after-school diet of Gilligan’s Island, a show that, despite its pop-culture ubiquity, only lasted three seasons. Maybe that was because there were only so many ways for seven castaways to try (and fail) to escape a desert island. But the show’s producer, Sherwood Schwartz, foresaw that shortcoming and had plans to mix it up if the show continued to get renewed.
Only one more season of being stranded was the plan, Schwartz told the Muncie Evening News via MeTV. “I hoped from the outset that the show would go for four years with them on the island,” he explained. “But I’ve had a projected escape in the back of my mind.”
Schwartz’s bonkers plan sounds like a cross between Fantasy Island and White Lotus. “Should they get rescued, or should the ratings go down, or should we feel...

I’ll never forget the first time I saw Sausage Party. I loved every crude minute of that animated comedy. Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Michael Cera, and crew took food to a whole new level. And now, you may have caught some of the eight episode event, Sausage Party: Foodtopia. Frankly, I dig the series more than the film! I love the additional cast that includes Edward Norton and the amazing Sam Richardson. Much like the movie, the series is crude, rude, and yet it’s suprisingly sweet.
Seth Rogen is the best. I love talking to this fine gentleman. And I feel the same about the incredible Kristen Wiig and Sam Richardson. All three are incredibly kind, and so damn funny. I was really happy to sit down with the three in-person. But where to begin? Well, I thought it would be fun to get right to it to the conversation.

Sausage Party: Foodtopia features a massive cast of A-listers featuring the voices of Kristen Wiig, Michael Cera, Edward Norton, and many more.
The new animated Amazon Prime Video series acts as the sequel to 2016's Sausage Party. It continues the misadventures of its food-based protagonists led by Seth Rogen's Frank as they navigate in a world where they successfully revolt against humanity.
Things take a turn for the worse, however, when they realize the difficulties of living in a world where humans are not the dominant species.

When the film Sausage Party was first announced way back in 2010, some journalists expressed scepticism that it was even real. Surely no studio would fund an R-rated feature film about animated talking food with graphic scenes of murder, violence and sex? But no. Sausage Party was very real, and if you don’t remember it from nearly a decade ago, it’s easy to feel like it was some sort of fever dream.
Like that original film, this eight-episode TV sequel — which sees much of the voice cast return, including Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Michael Cera, David Krumholtz, and Edward Norton — is the sort of creation that does beggar belief. How did this even get made? That’s not even a quality assessment. It is just slightly mind-boggling that it exists. You will ponder this from Episode 1, when — in the aftermath of the food-human war,...

Eight years after the release of Sausage Party, Seth Rogen is revisiting the world of talking food with new series Sausage Party: Foodtopia.
The show follows up the war against humans that took place in the film, as hot dog Frank (voiced by Rogen, who is also an executive producer) and his grocery store friends establish a safe haven that quickly goes awry. Kristen Wiig, Michael Cera, David Krumholtz and Edward Norton reprise their voice roles, with Will Forte, Natasha Rothwell, Sam Richardson and Yassir Lester among the new additions.
“We always hoped to do more, honestly,” Rogen told The Hollywood Reporter at the Los Angeles premiere on Wednesday. “We kept thinking about it, we kept making jokes about it; it was a thing we kind of never stopped talking about and never stopped enjoying the idea of.”

The 2024 animated comedy Sausage Party took viewers by surprise with its audacious premise: a secret world where the food in our grocery stores lives, breathes, and has relationships, all while anxiously awaiting the day they’ll be “chosen” and leave the store. Of course, the sausages, bread, and other foods quickly discover that getting chosen means facing a grisly fate rather than paradise. The film was a bona fide hit, using humor both raunchy and clever to skewer society’s values and mores.
Fast forward a few years, and this unlikeliest of franchises has gotten another seat at the table in the form of Amazon Prime’s new series Sausage Party: Foodtopia. Picking up where the movie left off, it brings back the same starry voice cast as our food friends try to form a functioning society in the aftermath of their grocery store revolution. Say what you will about Sausage Party, but if you’ve ever wanted to watch a piece of anthropomorphic food call another piece of anthropomorphic food the c-word, or see the denizens of a supermarket aisle engaged in a protracted, graphic orgy, the animated hit is an irreplaceable part of the cinematic canon, putting the “whore” in “hors d’oeuvres,” as it were.
I’m not sure if even the most devoted of Sausage Party fans would say that the comedy had enough material to fill its 88-minute running time (the aforementioned orgy takes up roughly the last third of the film, or maybe it just feels like it does). But are there between 5 and 10 good and clever minutes? Yes, I would argue with some trepidation lest somebody come at me with a stopwatch, there are.
With similar trepidation, I’m prepared to say that there are between 5 and 10 good...

Warning: Contains spoilers for the 2016 feature film Sausage Party.
There’s a pop-culture trope all of us have seen at least once: A high school English teacher wants to get a rough or rowdy class on their side, so when it’s time to teach poetry, they recite it to a hip-hop beat. (Doing so while seated backwards on their chair: optional but highly recommended.) I wonder if the creators of Sausage Party: Foodtopia had this trope in mind while developing this show; it can feel like it’s for all the teachers of civics and American history who wished they could sneak their students Howard Zinn inside some cartoon pornography.
What we must now term the Sausage Party franchise began with the 2016 feature film. At a supermarket called Shopwell’s, the greatest dream of all the anthropomorphic foods is to be “chosen” (purchased) by a “god” (human customer) and...

Back in 2016, "Sausage Party" gave the "Toy Story" treatment to everyday food, but instead of being a family friendly adventure full of wonder, it was a raunchy romp full of grotesque groceries, violent victuals, and cuisine coitus. Directing duo Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan, along with writers Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg and Kyle Hunter & Ariel Shaffir, told the story of an ensemble of foods -- such as Frank the hot dog (Seth Rogen), Brenda the bun (Kristen Wiig), Barry the deformed wiener (Michael Cera), Sammy Bagel Jr. (Edward Norton), Kareem Abdul Lavash (David Krumholtz), and more who come to realize that when they're bought from the Shopwell's grocery store, they're not being taken to some kind of glorious afterlife. Instead, they're brutally prepared, served, and consumed by the gods they've hoped to be grabbed by: hungry human beings.

Plot: After 2016’s Sausage Party, most humans are dead, and food has become the dominant species. With no clue as to how to govern a new world and sustain a manufactured utopia, the system begins to break down. With failure looming and perishables in danger of surpassing their expiration dates, Frank (Seth Rogen), Brenda (Kristen Wiig), and Barry (Michael Cera) enlist one of the last remaining humans to help guide them toward democracy. All is going according to plan until an orange named Julius reshapes society in his twisted image. With little choice but to fight back, the biggest food fight in the history of foodkind ignites.

Jeopardy! fans are sounding off over one of the clues from the July 3rd game, as host Ken Jennings ruled against one player’s initial answer. The match which saw one-day champion Kelly Proulx take on Sarasota-based attorney Dana Keane and Burbank-based customer support team lead Isaac Hirsch, raised eyebrows with the $800 clue in the category “Don’t Go, Jason.” The clue read, “Playing the evil Gideon in this Edgar Wright flick, Jason Schwartzman gets his head kicked in; K-o, Cera Cera.” The correct response was Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, but Isaac’s initial answer of Scott Pilgrim was seemingly not accepted, leading him to extend the response, saying, “What is Scott Pilgrim…. vs. The Universe?” Ken Jennings for Jeopardy! and Michael Cera in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World “Sorry, no,” Jennings responded before Kelly buzzed in with the right answer. As some may know, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World...

Fremantle’s global drama division, under CEO Christian Vesper and COO Seb Shorr, will work closely with Nevermind, while its international distribution arm, Fmi, will handle TV titles.
Oscar-nominee Stewart was last seen in Ross Glass’ pulpy lesbian noir Love Lies Bleeding, which has done solid business for A24, grossing more than $8 million domestically; and alongside Michael Cera in the Michael Angarano-directed road comedy Sacramento, which premiered at the 2024 Tribeca Festival. BenDavid Grabinski is a fan of offbeat sequels.
“I’ve spent a long time being in rooms pitching very left-turn sequels for preexisting IP and movies and TV shows,” the writer-producer told TheWrap. “And usually, people are like, ‘No, that’s too bold. Can you just do something much simpler?’ And then they don’t hire me.”
But in the case of Netflix series “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off,” Grabinski found a kindred spirit in Bryan Lee O’Malley, creator of the original “Scott Pilgrim” comic book series, which was adapted into a live-action movie directed by Edgar Wright in 2010.
For inspiration, Grabinski and O’Malley watched every episode of David Lynch’s brilliant if polarizing 2018 return to his cult television series “Twin Peaks,” as well as movies like “Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon a Time,” “Gremlins 2: The New Batch” and “Ocean’s Twelve.” “We both respond to big swings. ‘Scott Pilgrim’ was a big swing.

We all know Wes Anderson has his repertoire of actors: Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, Owen Wilson, and on and on and on. And over the course of his career, they have all grown accustomed to – and perfectly fit – his signature style. But that’s really hard to do early on, when none of this has been established and you’re just trying to get that first film completed. Now imagine doing it while a sometimes short-tempered Oscar nominee watches it all unfold.
Wes Anderson recalled that when making his first movie, James Caan didn’t understand just what this rinky-dink, $5 million production was even going for. “I remember James Caan came to the set of Bottle Rocket, and he was really saying, ‘What are you guys doing?’ We were doing things that he thought, ‘This is not how movies are made,’ but he sort of adapted to us.”

Cinematic auteur, icon of pastel aesthetic, and pen salesman Wes Anderson enjoys a varied repertoire. He’s made commercials, worked in live-action film and animation, long-form and short, and has been known to don multiple hats on each set. While most of his work is original, he has also adapted the work of author Roald Dahl with “Fantastic Mr. Fox” and, most recently, his Oscar-winning “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar.” Taking part in a conversation at the Annecy International Animation Festival in France, reported on by The Hollywood Reporter, Anderson said he’s now ready to take on another huge British novelist.
“I feel like the writer who I would like to adapt — who I don’t know if I can see the opportunity — is Dickens,” he said. “I would like to do a big Dickens story. They’ve all been adapted. They’ve all been done many times.

There are two types of people in this world: Those who think animated food items f*cking is the height of hilarity, and those who feel 2016's Sausage Party is about as funny as a burning orphanage.
If you happen to fall into the former category, we have good news! Prime Video has released the first red-band trailer for its upcoming sequel series, Sausage Party: Foodtopia.
The show, which will continue the adventure of the various sentient groceries we met in the hit R-rated movie, is set to hit the streaming service on July 11.
The teaser reveals that Frank, Brenda, Barry, Sammy and co. embark on a mission to create their own society after escaping from the supermarket at the end of the movie, but soon start to face some major obstacles, including humans, seagulls, and... rain.

Sausage Party sequel series Foodtopia is heading to Prime Video next month, spinning out from the original film. Trailer here.
Much of the hype surrounding Sausage Party upon its release in 2015 seemed to focus on the fact that a lewd, crude animated film was making its way to cinemas, as there had been a dearth of such films in the mainstream for quite a long time. Directed by Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan and written by Seth Rogan, Evan Goldberg, Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffer, the plot followed the anthropomorphic grocery items in a supermarket, as they dream of being sold and moving to ‘The Great Beyond’ only to be horrified when they discover they will be eaten.
The film proved popular at the box office, making over $140 million on a budget of $19 million. Inevitably, this meant that it was only a matter of time before a sequel was produced,...
