Arrow aired on The CW for 8 seasons, 170 episodes, and launched a TV universe that spanned across eight different shows. The first episode of Arrow’s Season 4 features Oliver Queen standing over an unknown grave, and whose it was, wouldn’t be revealed for months –not even to the cast.

The Arrowverse was one of the best live-action DC Universe ever made, featuring an impressive array of characters from comics, which meant several did not get the appreciation they deserved. Long before the Dcu was formed, some of the best representation of DC heroes came from The CW. In 2012, Arrow premiered and highlighted one of the lesser known and appreciated heroes from DC to the forefront. Then in 2014, the Arrowverse expanded with the introduction of The Flash, and things began to accelerate from there.

With multiple DC shows, the potential for crossovers and expansion began. Grant Gustin's Flash became a friend to Stephen Amell's Green Arrow, and more heroes joined the fray to hold back the biggest threats to their worlds. However, over the course of over 10 years, with six TV shows in the official lineup and a handful of others that crossed over, not every character got a chance to truly shine.

Heroes like the Titans East, while not part of the Teen Titans officially until the end of the series, repeatedly prove to be on par with them in strength.

The Teen Titans are some of DC's toughest heroes, and their villains are equally powerful. The series' big bads, which include the likes of Slade, Trigon, and the Brotherhood of Evil, pose completely different types of threats while acting as perfect foils to their specific rival within the Titans. Starring Stephen Arnell as Green Arrow/Oliver Queen, Arrow ran for eight seasons on the CW and was responsible for its own TV universe, the Arrowverse. Although the show started off strong, Arrow eventually lost its way, partly because it was under the weight of being the uniting force of three other shows and countless heroes and villains.

DC has brought a fascinating Teen Titans mystery back into the limelight after it first cropped up 20 years ago in quite possibly the last way I was expecting. The Teen Titans cartoon rightfully remains a beloved corner of DC's animated history, with the series effectively managing to balance a relatively child-friendly tone with some intense storylines and action sequences. While Teen Titans made adjustments to the comic lore accordingly - for example, ensuring Deathstroke is only referred to by Slade, his first name - it still managed to keep much of the core of what makes the superhero team one of DC's most interesting.

A member of the Justice League and one of the brand's most long-standing characters, Oliver Queen has been protecting Star City - and the world - since 1941. In recent years, he's more well-known to TV audiences due to the success of his small screen adaptations in both Smallville and Arrow.

The second of those spawned an entire franchise, with The CW's Arrowverse becoming one of the most successful superhero shared universes the live-action medium has seen. And it all started with a darker, broodier Emerald Archer who was praised for his more grounded adaptation. Teen Titans is primarily centered around the adventures of Robin, Starfire, Cyborg, Raven, and Beast Boy, but they're far from the only major characters in the series. Numerous other heroes and even more villains drive stories and receive development. Over the course of five seasons, an abundance of minor characters are also featured, some drawn from obscure DC lore, while others are entirely original.

With only thirteen episodes in each season, Teen Titans didn't have time to explore all the amazing characters it introduced. Fans would have loved to see more characters like Bumblebee, Speedy, and Red X and are largely in agreement that Blackfire should have been the main villain for an entire season centered around Starfire. Many of the Honorary Titans introduced in Season 5 were also criminally underserved and should have been explored for at least a single episode.

Teen Titans sees the series' five heroes fighting to stop a new main villain's evil plan. Some of their schemes are focused around the Teen Titans themselves, while others have much grander visions. The biggest difference between their plots is the amount of thought that evidently went into them, as some pale in comparison to others.

While all fearsome villains in their own right, Slade, Trigon, and Brother Blood weren't equally effective at combating the Teen Titans. Some of the series' antagonists let their personal failings get in the way of their masterplans, while others did nearly everything right and were simply bested by the heroes. The best evil plans in the series were successfully executed, while the worst ones never even got off the ground.

Brother Blood Didn't Have an Endgame

Brother Blood is the main villain of Teen Titans Season 3. Brother Blood's obsession with Cyborg distracted him from whatever his original goal was.

In Green Arrow #13, original Kid Arrow Roy Harper refuses to take on Green Arrow mantle, intent instead on forging his own path as Arsenal, even in the wake of Oliver Queen's shocking betrayal. Arsenal rejects Oliver's offer of "his kingdom", distancing himself from the Green Arrow title, which is instead taking by another noteworthy member of the Green Arow Family. Despite refusing to take on his former mentor's hero identity, Arsenal remains a key figure in the Arrow Family, committed to doing whatever he can to protect his superhero family and friends.

Having a live-action Teen Titans movie before a Justice League feature in the Dcu is secretly a genius move (in more ways than one). Confirmed to be in development, DC Studios' rebooted DC Cinematic Universe will soon include a movie starring one of the most classic superhero teams beyond the Justice League. A group of younger heroes who were once the sidekicks to some of the DC Universe's heaviest hitters, there are several key advantages to debuting the Titans on-screen before the League.

A live-action adaptation of DC Comics’ Teen Titans is officially in the works for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, screenwriter Ana Nogueira is already on board to write the script. Nogueira, recognizable for acting roles in CW’s The Vampire Diaries and Starz’s Hightown, is also working on DC’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, set to star Milly Alcock.

The announcement makes Teen Titans the first film added to the initial run of DC Universe productions Gunn revealed back in January 2023. It remains to be seen how or when it will slot into what’s being called Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, but Gunn, Nogueria, and the DC team have plenty of options.

Made up of superhero “sidekicks,” the Teen Titans were originally introduced in 1964 in The Brave and the Bold #54. Founding members included Robin, Wonder Girl, Kid Flash, and Aqualad.

THR reports that Warner Bros. is developing a live-action Teen Titans movie and has tapped Ana Nogueira to write the script.
