2025 is about to be that year for fans of the dystopian series The Handmaid’s Tale, which hasn’t aired on small screens in over two years. Thankfully, the Hulu series is set to return sometime this year with its sixth and final season after such a long wait. The 2025 PaleyFest lineup for Los Angeles has been revealed, and the nine-day event will feature a special tribute to Emmy-winning showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino that reunites the casts of Gilmore Girls and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, along with her upcoming Étoile.

In addition, PaleyFest L.A. will celebrate the final seasons of The Handmaid’s Tale (Hulu) and Cobra Kai (Netflix/Sony), plus Severance (Apple TV+), Agatha All Along (Disney+/Marvel), Matlock (CBS), Hacks (Max), and Poker Face (Peacock). The event will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood from March 21 to March 29.

Hulu’s is turning up the excitement for The Handmaid’s Tale season six with the release of the first six official photos. The new season won’t debut until spring 2025, and the first images are spoiler-free.

Series star and executive producer Elisabeth Moss posted the photos and a message to fans on Instagram: “Here’s a sneak peek at what we’ve been up to… We are hard at work on the final season and I’m so excited to share with you guys these first look images!!! These are from episodes 1 and 2, directed by yours truly, and episode 3, directed by @thisIsdavidl, all shot by @nicdaleydp. ”

The Handmaid's Tale, based on Margaret Atwood's eponymous novel, premiered in 2017, and it was a major hit during every awards season. The series has been confirmed for a sixth and final season, and Hulu has treated fans with the first look and release window.

The 15-time Primetime Emmy-winning series takes a dystopian approach to the U.S., where birth rates have collapsed, and fertile women are forced into enslavement to birth children. The series, which stars Elisabeth Moss in the leading role, took a big break since the release of the last season, which premiered in late 2022, and will return with Season 6 on Hulu in the spring of 2025. As Disney+ officially confirmed the titles for next year with a clip filled with previews of what's to come on the streaming platform, as well as Hulu, The Handmaid's Tale also received a first teaser.

The six-episode series debuted on AMC in March. It was based on the BBC One series “The Driver,” with Giancarlo Esposito starring in the American series.

The final season of The Handmaid’s Tale is finally underway.

Hulu on Friday shared an image of series lead Elisabeth Moss holding a slate from the opening day of filming on the show’s sixth and last season. The slate shows that cameras began rolling on Sept. 3 — and that Moss is directing the first episode (she previously helmed six episodes across seasons four and five).

The Disney-owned streamer also said that season six will premiere in spring 2025, which will mean about a 2 1/2-year gap between the season five finale, which debuted Nov. 9, 2022, and the final season opener. Production on The Handmaid’s Tale had been scheduled to resume in fall 2023 but was pushed back as striking writers and actors negotiated for, and eventually won, better contracts with media companies. Lining up schedules for the show’s cast further moved the start date to this week.
