Exclusive: Legally Blonde has become the first big MGM title to spawn a TV series for Prime Video. The Amazon streamer has ordered Elle, a Legally Blonde prequel series. It hails from the film franchise’s star Reese Witherspoon and her Hello Sunshine banner, part of Candle Media. The project is being unveiled at Prime Video’s inaugural upfront presentation today where the streamer also is announcing another TV series based on a MGM property, Tomb Raider.

The series is set years before the events in the first movie, which kicked off as Elle Woods (Witherspoon) graduated from college and headed to Harvard Law to pursue a legal career.

Dylan Mulvaney is dreaming big, and one of the characters she would like to play is Elle Woods from Legally Blonde.
In a recent interview, the singer and actress said that her dream theater role was to play Glinda in Wicked, but her “dream dream” was to portray the Harvard Law School student that Reese Witherspoon famously played in the 2001 film.
“My dream though is to do a trans Legally Blonde,” Mulvaney said in an interview with IMDb during SXSW. “I wanna play Elle Woods and have maybe a trans Emmett and a trans Paulette. And I think what’s so cool about plugging trans people into existing stories is it inherently changes what the topic is, but in a way that you don’t actually have to do much to the script because it becomes something different — but actually, I think it makes it even more powerful.”

"Legally Blonde" is a secret sequel to "Clueless," with Cher and Elle Woods being the same person. Both Cher and Elle are stylish, popular, and have a similar rhetoric style. The theory of Cher and Elle being the same person creates a connected universe between the two films.
Despite its success, Clueless never got a proper sequel, but a theory claims that a secret sequel arrived six years later, and was also a big success. The 1990s saw a new wave of teen comedies, with many now considered classics and some of the best of the genre, and among those falling into both categories is Clueless. Directed by Amy Heckerling, Clueless is loosely based on Jane Austen’s 1815 novel Emma and takes the audience to modern-day Beverly Hills to meet Cher Horowitz (Alicia Silverstone), one of the wealthiest, most stylish, and most popular girls in Bronson Alcott High School, along...

We hear A-list creative auspices have reached out to inquire about adapting MGM IP which they are fans of. Additionally, Amazon Studios also has been leaning on its own roster of talent for some projects.

Reese Witherspoon reflected on her role in Legally Blonde 20 years to the day the movie premiered in theaters. Released on July 13, 2001, the legal comedy starred Witherspoon as Elle Woods, a blonde sorority girl who earns a degree at Harvard and becomes a very successful lawyer. A tremendous hit at the box office, the movie spawned an ongoing franchise that has another installment currently in the works.
On the 40th anniversary, Reese Witherspoon posted an image of herself as Elle Woods holding the character's pet dog. There are many fans who may find it hard to believe it's already been two decades since we first saw Elle, and time has flown just as quickly for Witherspoon herself. In the tweet, the actress stated, "Omigod you guys .... Legally Blonde premiered 20 years ago Today! Time flies when you're busy using legal jargon in your every day life."

Once upon a time, a California blonde decided she'd like to go to Stanford Law School—because of its proximity to Neiman Marcus. Nope, not Elle Woods. We'll get to her. "I wanted to go to Stanford when I saw the mall," Arizona State grad Amanda Brown admitted to the San Francisco Chronicle of enrolling at the prestigious institution in the early '90s. "When I went for my interview I checked out the Polo Store, checked out Neiman's. So I became myopically focused." With what she called "very good" test scores, she got in easily. What? Like it's hard? Apparently not, though it does turn out that law school isn't for...

Photo: 'Legally Blonde'/MGM On July 13, 2001, a small-budget comedy whose studio had very low expectations for was released in theaters. This film was none other than ‘Legally Blonde’. 20 years later, ‘Legally Blonde’ is still inspiring women and has become an iconic and beloved feminist film. The Premise ‘Legally Blonde’ is based on the novel of the same name by Amanda Brown, who wrote it based on her experiences at Harvard Law School as a blonde who was very into fashion and beauty. The film adaptation follows Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon), a fashion merchandising student and sorority president at the fictional Cula who decides to go to Harvard Law School in an effort to win back her ex-boyfriend, Warren (Matthew Davis), who...

When 2021 began, many movie lovers were hopeful April would be the month of the rebound. James Bond was scheduled to (finally) return at the beginning of the month, and Marvel’s Black Widow was waiting at just the end of it. This of course did not happen.
Nevertheless, for those looking for more bite-sized distractions over the usual binging blur on streaming services, there is still relief coming on Netflix. While all of the below movies are relatively recent, chances are you haven’t seen any of them in a long time, if at all. So sit back, relax, and find out the best options to Netflix and chill this April.

There’s a version of Babyteeth that could have been made which would have overplayed the quirk and cuteness factor. Luckily, no one involved in this movie is looking to do that. There are times where that method is needed, but here, it’s all about the heart of the matter. Babyteeth has a ton of ambition, keeps you on your toes, and showcases again that not only is Ben Mendelsohn a deeply underrated actor, but that Eliza Scanlan is one of our more exciting up and coming actresses. Despite a few hiccups along the way, everyone involved makes this work something that truly stands out. Come Friday, when it release, you’ll understand why. The film is a dramedy, centered on Milla (Scanlan) a seriously ill teenager. When she meets and falls in love with drug dealer and all-around troubled Moses (Toby Wallace), it’s as equally what she...
