Spoiler Alert: This story discusses major plot developments in the Season 1 finale of “Ahsoka,” currently streaming on Disney+.
There’s a brief moment in the penultimate episode of Season 1 of “Ahsoka” when characters from at least four different eras of “Star Wars” occupy the same scene. The most recent character is Capt. Carson Teva (Paul Sun-Hyung Lee), the New Republic ranger first introduced in 2020 on the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian.” Then there’s the focus of the scene, Gen. Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), first introduced in 2014 on the animated series “Star Wars: Rebels” as voiced by Vanessa Marshall. Presiding over it all is Chancellor Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly), who has occupied three different eras of “Star Wars” on her own. She was first introduced (briefly) in 1983’s “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi” as played by Caroline Blakiston, then showed up (even more briefly) in 2005’s “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith...

This Star Wars: Ahsoka article contains spoilers.
So much of Ahsoka‘s third episode feels like classic Star Wars, from Sabine’s blind training nodding back to A New Hope to the space battle that combines elements from both the Original and Prequel Trilogies for one of the best dogfights ever made for Disney+. But that doesn’t mean Ahsoka has skipped out on bringing back a bunch of stuff from Rebels this time around. In fact, one major cameo allows this Disney+ series to pick up exactly where its animated predecessor left off.
Here are all the Star Wars easter eggs and callbacks we spotted in “Time to Fly”:
Evan Whitten as Jacen Syndulla
There was never any doubt that Jacen Syndulla would pop up in Ahsoka, but we definitely didn’t expect to see this little dude so soon. Introduced in the final minutes of the Rebels...

This article contains spoilers for "Star Wars: Ahsoka" episode 3 — "Time to Fly"Things are kicking into high gear in part 3 of "Ahsoka." Directed again by Steph Green and written by Dave Filoni, the episode shows the inertia faced by the New Republic when it comes to taking any military action beyond the end of the war. Few seem to believe that Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) could be a threat to the New Republic, and others still think that the specter of Thrawn is just Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth-Winstead) trying to nab all the resources she can get to go on a selfish mission to look for her lost friend, Ezra Bridger (Emen Esfandi). While Hera spends her time arguing with Mon Mothma (Genevieve O'Reilly), the Chancellor of the Republic, another journey is underway. Ahsoka (Rosario Dawson), Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo), and Huyang (David Tennant) travel to Seatos in...

One way out ... of this article, that is, for those who haven't watched the latest episode of "Andor." Spoilers abound!
Compared to the movie that "Andor" first originated from, the prequel/spin-off series sometimes runs the risk of appearing downright uneventful next to the epic heroism of "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story." While the standalone film depicted some of the biggest and most spectacular battles in "Star Wars" history, the action in "Andor" feels far more restrained and low-key. In fact, two of the show's most extravagant set pieces only appeared recently: last week's prison break and the unexpected dogfight that comes near the close of episode 11. Other than that, the Diego Luna-starring series has been content to carve out its own distinct niche amid this larger-than-life franchise, savoring the smallest details that most other stories would ignore completely and instead treating them with a deadly sense of seriousness.

A new chapter in Cassian’s journey to the Rebel Alliance begins in “Aldhani.” After escaping the Pre-Mor agents on Ferrix, Cassian agrees to join one of Luthen’s Rebel operations on the titular planet. The mission is simple: steal the payroll of an Imperial facility. But to do it, Cassian and his new associates will have to sneak past an entire garrison of Imperial soldiers. Unsurprisingly, Cassian doesn’t like those odds at all.
We also spend time on Coruscant, where we reunite with Chandrilan senator Mon Mothma, future leader of the Rebel Alliance. Andor shows us what her life was like in the early stages of forming the Rebellion. Along the way, we get all kinds of easter eggs and references that are sure to delight Star Wars fans!

When the first "Star Wars" trilogy came out, there weren't many women in lead roles. Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) was a role model for so many young women at the time, but the rest of the heroes were men. In "Return of the Jedi," however, we saw another woman in a leadership role. Mon Mothma (Caroline Blakiston) was a former senator and a Rebellion leader. She wasn't on screen much, but she did say the pivotal line, "Many Bothans died to bring us this information." In one short sentence, this woman, this leader, reminded the Rebel fighters that their lives were on the line, not just those on missions, but the lives of the entire galaxy.

This Star Wars: Andor review contains spoilers.
Star Wars: Andor Episode 4
Before 2016, the character of Mon Mothma was mostly the answer to a trivia question. Although she is ostensibly the leader of the entire Rebel Alliance, Mon Mothma doesn’t even appear until Return of the Jedi, and then, only for one scene, to explain the plan to kill the Emperor and destroy the second Death Star. We don’t see her during the Battle of Endor, and she doesn’t stop by for an Ewok hug in the end, either.
Still, as played by Caroline Blakiston, the character left a big impression, and for hardcore Star Wars fans in the 1990s, Mon Mothma was omnipresent in the various Expanded Universe novels and comic books. Yet, despite her brief appearance in the Prequel Trilogy, as played by Genevieve O’Reilly, it wasn’t until Rogue One that it really felt like...

With the premiere of upcoming Disney+ series Andor, Star Wars is exploring new territory.
In 12 episodes, Andor will dive into a darker, grittier and more complicated story than that of the more traditional tales of good versus evil that the sci-fi franchise is known for. And that’s largely due to the show’s titular character, Cassian Andor (played by Diego Luna).
“If you’re gonna do something these days in Star Wars, it better be different, right?” Luna told The Hollywood Reporter at the series’ Los Angeles launch event on Thursday. “We just want to be risky, we want to bring something new and different into the Star Wars universe.”
“[Cassian] is not obviously good or obviously bad,” added director Toby Haynes, who helmed the first three episodes. “He’s a good guy who has to do bad things in order to get the job done.

Andor star Genevieve O’Reilly has been playing Rebel leader Mon Mothma in the Star Wars galaxy for nearly 20 years, but she never really got the chance to become acquainted with the character until now. Whether it was a Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith deleted scene that she shot in 2003 or her two scenes in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), O’Reilly likely spent more time with the character in a vocal booth for the animated series Star Wars Rebels. But all that has changed thanks to Rogue One co-screenwriter and Andor creator Tony Gilroy, who’s enabled O’Reilly to flesh out her Imperial senator character once and for all, as she begins to form the Rebel Alliance.
For O’Reilly, Andor has created an opportunity that she thought would never come.

If there's one thing hardcore "Star Wars" fans love, it's taking to characters with relatively little screen time. There is perhaps no better franchise out there consistently ending up with these kind of results. Just look at Boba Fett, who had but a few minutes of screen time between "Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi," and yet, he went on to become one of the most beloved characters in the history of the franchise. But the nice thing about the Disney+ shows is that they have allowed room for some of these characters to grow (for better or for worse). Next up to bat? Mon Mothma.
That name is surely familiar to longtime devotees of a galaxy far, far away, as she was one of the leaders of the Rebel Alliance in "Return of the Jedi," famously delivering "many Bothans died" line. Genevieve O'Reilly played the character in...

In the "Star Wars" universe — the cinematic one, not the literal one — standalone projects have become popular storytelling tools, and with good reason. If done right, they can be really effective, both at adding context to an unexplored event and informing a period of a beloved character's life. But what happens when a standalone leaves behind more questions than it answered? When one-off characters introduced to propel a story actually become fan favorites?
When it comes to "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" — the film that famously killed off most of the characters it introduced — it can feel almost foolish to hope for more. Even Diego Luna, who played Rebel spy Cassian Andor in the film, treated "Rogue One" like a one-and-done project. The self-proclaimed "Star Wars" fan didn't expect much in terms of a spin-off.

Mon Mothma has been an integral figure in the "Star Wars" saga since her first film appearance in "Star Wars: Episode VI – The Return of the Jedi." Having opposed Chancellor Palpatine's power grab during the Clone Wars, she became the leader of the Rebel Alliance, and lived to see the defeat of Empire. And yet, as a live-action character, she's been completely underserved. "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" gave her a bit more to do, but it was still jarring to emerge from the film knowing so little about the woman who founded and led the resistance.
If you've been craving mo' Mothma, here's some splendid news: "Andor," the "Star Wars" spin-off series in which Diego Luna reprises his "Rogue One" role as the charming thief who eventually sticks his neck out to join the Alliance, will prominently feature the Rebel leader. "Many Bothans died to bring us this information." It's the line everyone remembers from 1983's "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi," if only for the sheer gravity with which Caroline Blakiston delivers this statement as Mon Mothma. Of course, unless you know your "Star Wars" lingo inside and out, you've probably no idea what the heck a Bothan even is and likely refer to Blakiston's Rebel leader as "that lady with the white caftan." (The film doesn't exactly go out of its way to tell you her name.)

After such an eventful premiere — which, to be fair, was actually Episodes 1 and 2 together — Sunday’s latest “Poldark” was an exercise in frustration. The majority of the action was literally about people waiting: Ross Poldark (Aidan Turner) in France waiting on word from an informant about his friend Dwight Enys (Luke Norris), who’s gone missing while out at sea, and their wives waiting to hear back about their respective fates abroad. “How frustrating is a woman’s lot,” Dwight’s wife Caroline (Gabriella Wilde) laments to Ross’ better half Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson). Ah, if only being left i were the worst of it in an episode that highlighted the gender inequities of the time.
The other source of frustration was with how poorly the female characters are being used, with only a few exceptions. As with “Downton Abbey,” one of the worst positions to be in for a woman is servitude,...

In Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, Mon Mothma appeared and briefed the Rebel Alliance on the plan for the Battle of Endor. Aside from that moment, she didn’t really have a pivotal role in the film. Mothma in Return of the Jedi was portrayed by Caroline Blakiston, however, in Rogue One, she will be played by Genevieve O'Reill. This isn’t O'Reill’s first time portraying the Rebel Leader. She portrayed Mothma in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. Don’t remember? Well, you wouldn’t, unless you own the DVD version. Sadly, all of her O'Reill’s scenes never made it into the final copy of the film. Never to fear though, she’s back in Rogue One and ready to lead! Mon Mothma. The ethereal enigma that is the leader of the Rebellion in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. The senator from Chandrila who fought to curb the Chancellor’s power before he revealed himself to be Palpatine. The first chancellor of the New Republic and political tutor to Princess Leia Organa. For over three decades, Mon Mothma has been one of the most iconic women in the Star Wars universe. And now she returns in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Several women have had the honor of playing Mon Mothma. She was originally portrayed by Caroline Blakiston in Return of the Jedi. When the senator appeared in the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars, she was voiced by Kath Soucie. And in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith the future leader of the Rebellion was played by Genevieve O’Reilly. But wait a minute! Mon Mothma wasn’t in Revenge of the Sith.

The first trailer for Star Wars: Rogue One is officially here. We take a closer look at what it all means...
If The Force Awakens had one herculean trial to undertake - relaunch the Star Wars franchise for a new generation of moviegoers - then Rogue One has a mighty task of its own. This is, after all, both a spin-off from the numbered Star Wars entries and also a prequel to 1977's A New Hope.
As history has already taught us, Star Wars sequels aren't necessarily easy to get right.
What Rogue One does offer, however, is the possibility of opening up the Star Wars universe in ways that were previously confined to books, videogames and other media. Director Gareth Edwards (Monsters, Godzilla) has pitched his movie as a mash-up of Dirty Dozen and space opera; its basic plot involves the Rebels' attempt to steal...

The first trailer for "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" just arrived with a rebel yell and some welcome throwbacks to the Og era.
"Good Morning America" debuted the teaser trailer for the first standalone story in the "Star Wars" universe, which stars Felicity Jones, Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Wen Jiang, Mads Mikkelsen, and Alan Tudyk, and hits theaters in December.
Felicity Jones's Jyn takes center stage, like Daisy Ridley's Rey in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." We hear a younger Mon Mothma describe Jyn as on her own from age 15, reckless, aggressive, undisciplined. "This is a rebellion, isn't it?" Jyn quips. "I rebel."
Damn right, she does, and she accepts her mission: A major weapons test is imminent, and they need to know what it is and destroy it. This story is set just before the events of Episode IV, "A New Hope,...

Nothing kicks the rumour mill into gear quite like Star Wars. As anticipation builds ahead of the The Force Awakens's December release, every piece of Force Awakens gossip pinballs around the web faster than the Millennium Falcon doing the Kessel Run.
But which possess the Force and which are pure Bantha poop? Here are nine huge (and potentially spoilerific) Star Wars rumours to chew over.
1. Rey and Kylo Ren are linked more closely than you think
The Star Wars movies have always explored blood ties and family, so is the notion that Kylo Ren and Rey are separated siblings?
Offspring of Luke? Son and daughter of Han and Leia? Obviously we can't say for sure, but the latest poster has fans speculating about the positioning of Rey's staff parallel to Kylo Ren's lightsaber. The previous Comic-Con poster for The Force Awakens places Rey between the light (Finn) and dark side...

But which possess the Force and which are pure Bantha poop? Here are seven huge (and potentially spoilerific) Star Wars rumours to chew over.
1. Darth Vader (and Hayden Christensen) is back from the dead
George Lucas's digital tinkering with the Star Wars trilogy resulted in Hayden Christensen taking original Return of the Jedi actor Sebastian Shaw's place as the ghostly Anakin, and according to Making Star Wars he'll be the permanent (albeit heavily scarred) face of Luke's dad throughout the new films.
The charred remains of Vader's helmet were shown in the trailer for The Force Awakens, suggesting that the character's presence will be strongly felt -...

There's been some crazy rumors regarding potential casting for J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: Episode VII," but today comes the most out there yet.
Full of Sith claim that Dame Judi Dench is being considered to play the elderly version of Mon Mothma, the senator who co-ordinated and gave the Rebel Alliance briefing in "Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi".
Caroline Blakiston played the role in the original, a 30-second scene, while Genevieve O'Reilly played a young version of the character in a small role in "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith". The character has since been expanded greatly in non-canon books, cartoons and comics.
In terms of far more confirmed news, Abrams himself said at the TCAs that filming on the movie officially begins in May in the United Kingdom.

The Full Of Sith Podcast cite several reliable sources as relaying to them that Dame Judi Dench is being looked at to appear as classic trilogy character Mon Mothma in Star Wars Episode VII. The character only actually had one scene in Return Of The Jedi as she coordinated the rebel attack on the new Death Star and was played by Caroline Blakiston. The guys specify that it is just a rumor at this stage, but seem pretty confident that their sources are on the level, so we'll see if this pans out. If it does, what do you think of this casting..and is Mon Mothma a character you think should even be brought back at all? If you want to hear exactly how the rumor is relayed for yourselves, click the link below and skip to around the 57:00 point in the video.
