Few characters in the history of the Star Wars franchise have gotten quite as much negative attention as Ahmed Best's Jar-Jar Binks, a major supporting character introduced in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, who was intended by writer/director George Lucas to be the comic relief character in the film. Things got so bad that Best later revealed that he considered dying by suicide at the time, posting on social media in 2018 at the bridge he considered jumping from with his young son, noting, "20 years next year I faced a media backlash that still affects my career today. This was the place I almost ended my life. It's still hard to talk about. I survived and now this little guy is my gift for survival.

Now, Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes has introduced an entirely new Jedi sub-faction: the Jedi Vanguard. This group consists of Jedi who were — or would have been — dedicated defenders of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, and frankly, they deserve to be explored on-screen.

Per ScreenRant, the Star Wars video games have always danced between canon and Legends, often introducing concepts that later make their way into official storytelling. The Jedi Vanguard is the latest example, described in Galaxy of Heroes as a specialized Jedi unit tasked with protecting key locations. According to EA’s announcement, the game needed a way to boost specific Jedi characters without overpowering others — especially a certain Jedi Grand Master.

The Star Wars community and other fanbases have been mourning Carl Weathers since his passing almost a year ago. One part of what will be missed during the stages of the Mandoverse is his directing work. The late actor directed two episodes of The Mandalorian series which he starred on.

Weathers played the bounty hunter leader Greef Karga, who turned ally to the main character, Din Djarin, throughout the first three seasons. He also directed episodes of the series in the second and third seasons.

The second season episode that the late actor went behind the camera was the fourth episode of the season, "The Siege." He also co-starred in the episode as Karga. Weathers' direction was praised by fans and critics alike.

Jake Lloyd was remarkably cute for a child actor. He was that darling child next to Ah-nald in Jingle All the Way. Star Wars released several new TV shows in 2024, and some of them absolutely rank among Star Wars' best TV shows. 2024 proved to be an interesting year for Star Wars. Although there were a number of new and returning TV shows, Star Wars released no new movies, and news about Star Wars' upcoming movies was minimal.

Even more surprising, Star Wars' upcoming TV shows have become quite thin. At present, only Andor season 2 and Ahsoka season 2 are confirmed. This is quite a difference from 2024, which saw the release of Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 3, Star Wars: Tales of the Empire, The Acolyte, Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, and Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. Each of these shows brought something unique to Star Wars, and several of them were truly excellent.

This was therefore a massive role to take on, particularly in light of the prequel trilogy following the hugely successful and beloved original trilogy movies.

Yet, there is a sector of the fandom that lives on hatred and vitriol towards almost every new project. It's exhausting to see this part of the fandom rear its head every time something comes out, and nothing brought them out more than The Acolyte.

Ahmed Best played Jar Jar Binks in 1999's The Phantom Menace, the first mainline Star Wars movie since 1983's Return of the Jedi. Star Wars secretly dropped a massive Darth Jar Jar clue five years ago. "Darth Jar Jar" is one of the most delightful fan theories of the prequel era; the idea that Jar Jar Binks is just too clumsy and too lucky to be believed. Today is the 12th anniversary of Disney buying Star Wars, and it's been a wild ride. I was trying to think of the scope of the two years of lead-up and ten years of actual content, and it's a lot of content. So much that unless you're a YouTube channel like Star Wars Explained or something where it's your day job to watch every Star Wars, it's pretty much impossible to consume everything. Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni launched a new era of the Star Wars universe with The Mandalorian, the first live-action series in the franchise. Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy tells the story of a young, Force-sensitive boy named Sig whose discovery of a mysterious Jedi artifact leads to his entire galaxy being scrambled. The heroes he once looked up to are now the villains of the Star Wars universe, including his brother, Dev. Sig, along with some new companions, attempts a daring mission to put his galaxy back together again.

In this miniseries, the new characters encounter fan-favorite Jedi and Sith, whose allegiances have now flip-flopped. Amid the excitement of fights and wacky character swaps, it is a sweet story of the relationship between the two brothers, as Sig fights to save the person he cares for most. There are many popular fan theories in the Star Wars universe, some far more outlandish than others. To celebrate, actor Ahmed Best took to social media to share some thoughts on the character, whom he has proudly portrayed over the years, starting with Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace back in 1999.

Taking to his Instagram account. Best shared a photo of himself holding up a Lego figure of Jar Jar Binks, adding a caption that teases theres perhaps more of Binks to come in future Star Wars projects. Speaking to Polygon, co-showrunners Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit talked about getting the chance to shake up the Star Wars galaxy and create a whole new reality where established characters are the opposite of their classic selves. This, according to Samit, really appealed to the longtime Star Wars cast members, stating, "You got some of these actors, like Mark [Hamill] or Anthony [Daniels], [who] have been doing it for 40-plus years, and it's always been more or less the same version of the characters. Which they love, obviously, but I think it was really fun and refreshing for everyone to do a new spin on their characters."
