Fans of the mind-bending thriller Severance know Britt Lower as Helly R, a character whose struggle against the dystopian Lumon Industries has made her one of television's most riveting leads. Yet before she got severed, Lower approached another style of surrealism in one of the best romantic comedy shows of the 2010s, if not ever: Man Seeking Woman.
Playing overachieving attorney Liz, sister to main character Josh Greenberg (Jay Baruchel), Lower demonstrated her on-the-nose comedic timing and range that would later make her a standout in Severance. She described the show to TV Insider this way: "This show is kind of like waking up inside of a dream, and you’re not sure if it’s going to be a fantasy dream or if it’s going to be a total nightmare, and oftentimes, it’s both." She also detailed her character in the show:

0Charlie Hunnam is an English actor best known for Sons of Anarchy, playing the complex and broken Jax Teller. Before Hunnam donned his leather Samcro vest, he first gained recognition as the title character in Douglas McGrath's Nicholas Nickelby, based on the Charles Dickens novel of the same name. Hunnam starred in several other notable projects, like Pacific Rim and King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.
Back in 2001—before his dramatic work—Charlie Hunnam had a regular role in the Judd Apatow comedy series Undeclared. Undeclared followed a group of college first-year students living in the same dorm at a fictional college in Northern California. A fresh-faced, twenty-one-year-old Charlie Hunnam played Lloyd, a theater student and ladies' man.

When thinking about 2013's This is the End, there are a few things that come to mind. It is remembered as one of the last big collaborations between Seth Rogen and James Franco before all the controversy surrounding the latter, and as one of the last examples of comedies being more consistent winners at the box office. The film is also remembered for a slew of high-profile celebrity cameos from Rihanna to Harry Potter'sEmma Watson. The cameos are all memorable in their own right, but Watson's is a particular standout, not only because of what's in the final film, but also because of the stories surrounding the actress being so upset by a particular line that she actually walked off the set. Now, with a lot of time having passed, Rogen has finally clarified why Watson was upset enough to need to take a minute and get herself together.

Besides the Twilight saga, Robert Pattinson's other Hollywood big break was in the 2012 drama movieCosmopolis, directed by the horror legend David Cronenberg.
With the recent release of the Bong Joon Ho-directed film Mickey 17, Pattinson would reflect on his work with other directors in an interview with the French cultural magazine Technikart. In the interview, when asked about his work on the Cronenberg-directed film, Pattinson states, "I love Cosmopolis. Don DeLillo's writing is sublime, it's as powerful as the lyrics of a song. When I got the script, I just wanted to read it out loud because the language is so beautiful."
Based on DeLillo's 2003 novel of the same name, the now 13-year-old film underperformed at the box office, earning only $7.1 million on a $20.5 million budget, and left critics polarized.

Here’s Why Emma Watson Once Stormed Out Of This Is The End Set (Photo Credit – Koimoi)
Emma Watson had her limits, and This Is the End pushed them. The 2013 apocalyptic comedy was packed with outrageous moments, but one scene took things too far for the Harry Potter star. When Channing Tatum hit the set in nothing but a leather thong, Watson reportedly took one look and walked out.
According to an unconfirmed account from an extra on set, Watson had been scheduled to shoot a scene with Tatum, Seth Rogen, Danny McBride, James Franco, and Jay Baruchel. The setup? McBride, playing a deranged king, emerged from an Rv with Tatum on a leash, dressed in only a thong. The extra claimed that Watson “had a freak-out moment” and bolted before cameras rolled. The incomparable Brad Pitt made a heartfelt revelation during an interview with W Magazinein 2012, one people weren't expecting. In the brief clip, he was asked about the films that pull at his heartstrings and make him cry. The Oscar-winning actor tried to keep a cool facade and said he's not much of a crier when it comes to films and that the occasional film might make him tear up, but a full-blown crying session is out of the question. However, one film touched him, and it's not what some people might've expected to hear from Pitt. He revealed that the animated movie How to Train Your Dragon made him cry at the end when Vikings and dragons lived in harmony with each other.
The animated film premiered in 2010 and was directed by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois. How to Train Your Dragon is a coming-of-age story that follows a young...

A new official trailer for Universal and DreamWorks Animation’s live-action How to Train Your Dragonrecently dropped. The highly-anticipated reboot of the 2010 animated movie of the same name hits theaters on June 13. Now, ahead of the summer premiere, Dean DeBlois, who wrote and directed the new live-action movie and co-wrote and co-directed the 2010 film, is dishing about how the movies differ.
Speaking with TheWrap, DeBlois said that when Universal said they wanted to revisit How to Train Your Dragon, his team had to “pick a lane at the start.” The movie is a reimagining of the 2010 animated film, which was based on the book series by Cressida Cowell. Disney kicked off the trend of remaking animated movies in live-action in 2015 with Cinderella, and it is still going strong. The latest animated feature to get a live-action do-over is How To Train Your Dragon, based on the 2010 movie about a sensitive young Viking who wants to be a mighty dragon-killer but find he doesn't have the stomach for it, so he befriends one instead. Watch the trailer above.
That young Viking, Hiccup, was voiced by Jay Baruchel in the original movie, and will be played by Mason Thames in the remake. Gerald Butler, who voiced Hiccup's father in the original movie, will play him in the new movie, which is neat.

Once upon a time, Disney was best known for their animated films. But somewhere along the line, they learned that they could make bank by using their existing intellectual property in a new way — by taking their old, beloved animated films and plopping them in the world of live-action. After all, what worked in two dimensions with pen and paper has to be even better with real people, right?
By this point, it seems as though Disney should have learned that isn't always the case. It's not enough to have a cherished IP in live action — you also have to bring something new to the table. And there are some Disney live-action adaptations that work better than others. Some are legitimately good films in their own right, while others are, well ... less than magical.

The latest trailer for Universal's live-action update of "How to Train Your Dragon" is here, once again making us wonder: Why do we need this movie when the animated version is already great? The new footage offers no answers, but by dropping during Super Bowl Lix, it'll no doubt inspire a few million more people to ask the question.
Admittedly, this new installment in the franchise (which began with the cartoon feature of the same name in 2010) does have a few things going for it, including the return of original trilogy writer-director Dean DeBlois and an animation style that somehow manages to capture the overwhelming cuteness of its heroic black dragon, Toothless.
The first trailer for the live-action "How to Train Your Dragon," which dropped in November 2024 before screening in theaters with Universal's "Wicked," didn't stray from the original film much at all in terms of its visuals or plot beats.

The debut feature film of Caitlin Cronenberg, daughter of legendary body horror auteur David Cronenberg, is quickly rising on Hulu's charts. Sitting at number three as of this writing, Humane was released in April 2024 but didn't receive much attention at the time. The psychological thriller hit Shudder in July of that year, but still didn't make much of a blip. It seems the underrated film is finally getting its due on Hulu.
Humane takes place in an alternate reality Canada, where the climate crisis has prompted the world's governments to institute a euthanasia campaign in order to rid Earth of 20% of its human population. The narrative centers on the Yorks, an estranged family brought together one evening by patriarch Charles. He has a surprise for his children, one that will lead the night into a terrifying nightmare full of twists and turns.

Fubar is coming back in 2025, and there are a few things we’d love to see in the second season of this action comedy! Sean Gunn may voice Weasel and G.I. Robot in the animated series Creature Commandos, but regarding live-action, DC fans are going to recognize him as the DC Universe's Maxwell Lord. The character was previously played by Pedro Pascal in 2020's Wonder Woman 1984, although Gunn isn't worried about stepping into the role so soon after Pascal.
During an interview with The Kristian Harloff Show (via X), Gunn opened up about how his take on Maxwell Lord would differ drastically from Pascal's version in WW84. "I can tell you that the one obvious thing is it's me playing the role. It doesn't just mean I'm going to give a different interpretation," the actor started. "Your own body is the vessel for what you're doing, so obviously...no one is gonna confuse me and Pedro Pascal's performance. So we're obviously going to do something different."

Arnold Schwarzenegger MCU Role ( Photo Credit – Flickr )
Well, well, well, hold on to your multiversal hats because Arnold Schwarzenegger just threw his hat in the MCU ring. The action icon dropped the bombshell in a Men’s Health interview, casually saying, “If the role is right!” We don’t know what “right” means for Arnie, but we do know this: the possibilities are endless.
Let’s be honest: can you imagine the Terminator stepping into the MCU? A hero? A villain? Heck, maybe a multiversal variant of someone we already know. With his action-packed resume, Schwarzenegger would be a slam dunk in either role. Not to mention, he’s got comedic timing that’ll leave you laughing while dodging bullets.
Schwarzenegger isn’t just thinking of any old role. He’s got serious ties to the MCU world already. His son-in-law? None other than the legendary Star-Lord himself, Chris Pratt.

Monica Barbaro's star has risen in the last few years with a major jump from TV to film with a breakthrough supporting role in Top Gun: Maverick. She also recently portrayed Joan Baez in the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown with Timothée Chalamet. The fantasy film is a reimagining of 2010’s animated How to Train Your Dragon. The remake will feature a cast that includes Gerard Butler, who is reprising his role as Stoick the Vast. Throughout the history of cinema, there have been many fantastic movies that just could not be made today. Movies always reflect the era in which they were produced, and this is why it’s not always fair to dismiss older films just because they cannot live up to the progressive values of modern times. It’s important to watch old films with a critical eye and know that just because something does not live up to the politically correct era of today, that doesn’t mean it's totally without worth or should be cast into obscurity.
Many of the best films ever made have issues when it comes to their depiction of gender, politics, or racial topics, and viewers should watch them with the knowledge that as times change, social conventions of acceptability are modernized. This is a sign of society moving toward more progressive and forward-thinking viewpoints, which highlight...

With '80s classics Gremlins and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and more modern flicks like The Iron Giant and Underdog, the ever-heartwarming "a boy and his [insert unlikely companion]" premise has become a story told and retold across generations and genres. Whether the sidekick is a dog, robot, alien, or any magical creature, audiences and critics alike adore each iteration (and their lead's unique companions), regardless of the familiar plot structure.
However, as studios produce more and more of these formulaically touching films and, as a result, run out of new ways to tell the story, it isn't surprising when viewers start to notice (and complain about) it. Fan suspicions about the similarities between the characters and their journeys in Dreamworks' How to Train Your Dragon franchise and Disney's Big Hero 6 reveal the studios' lack of fresh ideas and the beginning of viewer disinterest. So, is that long-time adoration turning into boredom?...

Tobey Maguire's acting is so much more than just a certain wall-crawling superhero. Maguire has been acting professionally since 1989, with his career really taking off in the late '90s. After a string of acclaimed supporting roles, Maguire broke out with 1998's Pleasantville, and won viewers' hearts with his distinctly dorky, often quiet presence on screen. However, what really launched Maguire to the top of the A-list was playing Peter Parker in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies, a role he reprised in the McU's Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).
With his decades-spanning career, Maguire has acted in everything from comedies like Tropic Thunder to period pieces like Seabiscuit and has received critical acclaim for his acting. There is something indescribable about how Maguire uses his eyes onscreen, always providing viewers with a window into how his character is feeling. However, his career is not without its ebbs and flows, which is typical for many actors.

The How to Train Your Dragon franchise was an incredibly popular series of animated films produced by Universal Studios. Beginning with How to Train Your Dragon in 2010, the series followed Hiccup, a teenage boy living on an island plagued by dragon attacks. Throughout the film, Hiccup trains with his peers to slay the dragons, but when he comes across an injured Night Fury dragon, the two end up becoming unlikely lifelong friends.
The first film saw massive critical and box office success, grossing a worldwide total of $494 million, and a 99% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The film was followed by two sequels: How to Train Your Dragon 2 in 2014, and How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World in 2019. With the rise of live-action adaptations, the franchise is finally getting the live-action treatment, produced by Universal.

Seth Rogen is one of the more unique comedic actors out there right now. Unlike some professional goofballs, Rogen's career has also included some significant dramatic works. This has included, for example, serious roles in The Fabelmans and Steve Jobs. While he still brings his characteristic humor to all his roles, parts in dramatic films show his range. Rogen is also experienced both in front of the camera and behind-the-scenes, serving as a producer on a number of key projects including The Boys and Invincible.
A lot of his dual behind-the-scenes and in-front-of-the-camera work extends to his comedy rolls. In both late 2000s movies Superbad and Pineapple Express, for example, Rogen both stars in and produces the film in some capacity. The same is true for other Rogen-featuring comedies including The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Funny People, The Green Hornet, and 50/50. Whether it be by utter obliteration, acts of deities and demons, or merely the ruination of the environment for human habitation, the world's end has fascinated filmmakers for as long as special effects have allowed it to be visualized. In general, audiences are drawn to see such mass destruction at a fictional remove as well, though some tales of the end times can hit a bit too close to home to feel good as escapism.

DreamWorks' upcoming live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon has understandably replaced the actor playing the movie's main character, but Hiccup's original actor must still feature in the 2025 effort. Hiccup has been voiced so far by the same person since the first movie was released in 2010. Since then, he has gone on to reprise the role in every How to Train Your Dragon movie and TV show. While he hasn't been confirmed to be part of the live-action How to Train Your Dragon cast yet, it would be surprising if he didn't appear in some capacity.
The live-action How to Train Your Dragon's release date is set for June 13, 2025. So, there isn't long left to wait until the remake hits cinemas. The first trailer suggests the movie will be a shot-for-shot remake of the original, with even Toothless' iconic character design remaining intact. I think that a lot of people are accusing this generation – whatever they mean by “this generation” – of being too woke and too touchy to actually enjoy different works of art that carry content that may be triggering.
One of those people who believe so is Ben Stiller. Who, if you happen to have seen its re-runs on TV, is the star of ‘Zoolander,’ a comedy that caricatures male models.
But that’s not his most controversial work, if you can believe it: he, along with other stars like Robert Downey Jr., Jack Black, Jay Baruchel and Brandon T. Jackson, starred in a 2008 satirical comedy, titled ‘Tropic Thunder.’
According to him, in today’s climate, ‘Tropic Thunder’ would not pass production let alone have any kind of audience engagement.

Ben Stiller has admitted that making his 2008 satirical comedy Tropic Thunder today would be “incredibly dicey.”
The actor-director-producer recently explained to Collider why he’s doubtful that type of movie could work in the current environment where “edgier comedy is just harder to do.”
“Definitely not at the scale we made it at, too, in terms of the economics of the business,” he continued. “I think even at the time we were fortunate to get it made, and I credit that, actually, to Steven Spielberg and DreamWorks. He read it and was like, ‘Alright, let’s make this thing.’ It’s a very inside movie when you think about it.”
Tropic Thunder, starring and directed by Stiller, also starred Robert Downey Jr., Jack Black, Jay Baruchel and Brandon T. Jackson. The film follows a group of egotistical actors making a big-budget war movie who are forced to become the soldiers they are portraying.

Tropic Thunder caused a lot of controversy due to its use of blackface and depictions of intellectual disabilities. While those aspects of the film were passed off as satire in 2008, Ben Stiller, who starred in and co-wrote the screenplay, says the movie probably wouldn't get the green light in 2024.
"I doubt it," Stiller told Collider when asked if the film stood a chance in 2024. "Obviously, in this environment, edgier comedy is just harder to do. Controversy and comedy often go hand in hand, but the relationship between the two has struggled somewhat in the modern era amid so-called cancel culture. One of the most acclaimed comedies that is often brought up as an example of how things have allegedly changed is 2008s Tropic Thunder, and director and star Ben Stiller agrees with the assessment that things have now changed so much that action-comedy couldnt be made today.
Speaking with Collider recently, Stiller was asked if he thought Tropic Thunder could still get made in the modern era, with the actor and filmmaker believing that, in 2024, edgier comedy is just harder to do. However, he quickly adds that they were fortunate for Tropic Thunder to get the greenlight even back in 2008.

How to Train Your Dragon is one of Hollywood's most celebrated and enduring animated franchises, with the original 2010 fantasy blockbuster hit going on to gross over $494 million and earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature. Its overwhelmingly positive critical and commercial response led to two massively successful sequels in 2014 and 2019 and also spawned numerous television spin-offs and short films, all of which helped the DreamWorks Animation knockout rake in over $1.6 billion worldwide.

Romantic comedy is one of cinema's most underrated genres. Some lucky rom-coms have managed to make it big at the box office, becoming remembered as culturally significant films.
These are the highest-grossing rom-coms since 1995, after adjusting for inflated ticket prices. How to Train Your Dragon fans are still waiting to see Gerard Butler's live-action version of Stoick the Vast in the upcoming reboot, but the actor has teased a portrayal that's faithful to his animated counterpart. Written and directed by Dean DeBlois who directed the original animated version the live-action reboot will re-tread the original story, bringing the titular dragons to life with CGI.

The 2014 RoboCop reboot had one of the most impressively star-studded casts of any recent big-budget action movie, and it shouldve been successful enough to launch a franchise. Just over two decades after RoboCop 3 was panned as the worst entry in the RoboCop series (and one of the worst movies ever made), the franchise was rebooted for a modern blockbuster age. Elite Squads Jos Padilha took the helm in the directors chair, and original writers Edward Neumeier and Michael Miner worked on the script.
Altered Carbon star Joel Kinnaman inherited the lead role of Alex Murphy from Peter Weller and he was backed up by some of the biggest movie stars in the world in supporting roles. Back in my day, we had daredevils like Evil Knievel and Super Dave Osborne. They’d defy death while entertaining crowds of cheering fans, risking life and limb for applause. I never wanted to be a daredevil, but I did appreciate their bravery and risk-taking approach to life. Jay Baruchel is a daredevil enthusiast, too, and he’s reuniting with Goon’s Michael Dowse for The Stunt Driver, an upcoming comedy about the daredevil stuntman Ken Carter.

Reuniting Baruchel with Michael Dowse, the filmmaker behind his R-rated 2011 hockey comedy Goon, The Stunt Driver watches as “The Mad Canadian” Carter attempts to execute the boldest maneuver of his career during the 1970s, launching a rocket car off a 90-foot-high ramp across the St. Lawrence River. Covering a span of more than a mile, the stunt would have him jump from Canada into the United States. The film, which Dowse calls his “white whale project,” follows Carter’s quest to make his seemingly impossible dream a reality, chronicling his preparation for the jump and the absurd challenges he faces along the way.

When an animated property makes the shift to live-action, it's always interesting to see which actors will take on certain characters. The How to Train Your Dragon franchise, for instance, is coming to life in a big live-action way next year, and while some of the voice actors from the franchise will be continuing into live-action, other new actors are being cast as replacements. Instead of the older Jay Baruchel, who voices the young lead character Hiccup, the new film will star Mason Thames. And instead of Craig Ferguson, Stoick's best friend, Gobber the Belch, will be played by Nick Frost, the lovable writer and actor from Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Hyperspace, and the newly released film Black Cab.
"The best thing about being Gerard Butler's friend is that he's just so big and handsome," Frost gushed to us in a recent MovieWeb interview. "And, you know, you...
