FX announced that the fourth season of “Cake” will premiere March 11 at 10 p.

The next three months promise to be busy for FX, which has set the dates for its new and returning programs coming in March and April.

On tap are new seasons of Mayans M.C., Breeders, the documentary feature Hysterical, and Cake, featuring Peter Huang’s Nine Films About Technology, a series of darkly comedic live-action stories about human relationships in this modern age of smart phones, social media and connectivity.

The dates add to FX’s 2021 slate, which begins February 5 with the latest episode of The New York Times Presents, Framing Britney Spears. Breeders is spawning a second season! FX just announced they've renewed the TV show for the 2020-21 season.

The comedy series explores the paradox that every parent knows but will never admit — you would willingly die for your children, but quite often you also want to kill them. The cast includes Martin Freeman, Daisy Haggard, George Wakeman, Jayda Eyles, Stella Gonet, Joanna Bacon, Alun Armstrong, Patrick Baladi, Tim Steed, and Michael McKean.

FX is pregnant with more “Breeders” on the way. The cable channel has renewed Martin Freeman and Daisy Haggard’s bad-parenting comedy for Season 2.

“We are proud of everything the creative team and talent on ‘Breeders’ achieved in the first season and look forward to seeing where they take it in season two,” Nick Grad, president of original programming at FX Entertainment, said in announcing the renewal. “‘Breeders’ has really resonated with viewers, who’ve come to appreciate its honest and humorous take on the challenges of modern parenting.”

“So pleased we get another go at ‘Breeders,'” Freeman said in a statement on Monday. “I reckon the next one will be even better. It’s such a pleasure working with this team… we’ll see you all soon. Well, not soon. But at some point, honest.”

Last TCA, we were treated to the pilot episode of upcoming FX comedy “Breeders,” which stars Martin Freeman and Daisy Haggard as the very imperfect parents of two young, impressionable children. This TCA, we got the trailer and a panel — and an explanation on how Freeman and his fellow co-creators handle the on-screen screaming and cursing at kid actors.

“There are actually rules…about what they can and can’t see and hear,” Freeman said on Thursday. “So obviously if there’s a lot of swearing, a lot of cursing in the scene, we do a cleaned-up dialogue version, and then once the kids have left then we get to do the swearing.”

These kind of intense period pieces aren't usually my thing, and I'm not that curious about this. However, the music they used for this trailer definitely got my attention. The story of the reclusive American poet Emily Dickinson comes to life in Terence Davies’ “A Quiet Passion,” which will be screened at the Toronto International Film Festival this fall.

A new festival trailer for the period drama was just released and showcases Cynthia Nixon as the renowned artist as she struggles with the world around her.

“A Quiet Passion” is a unique insight into Dickinson’s life and obsessions, and follows the writer from her schoolgirl days in Amherst, Massachusetts to her years writing in near-total isolation, where she produced over a thousand poems that are now regarded as the finest and most inventive in American literature.

“You are alone you your revolution, Ms. Dickinson,” spouts a stoic headmistress in the opening sequence of A Quiet Passion, a biopic of 19th-century American poet Emily Dickinson and the latest work from proud Liverpudlian auteur Terence Davies. In the scene, young Emily has apparently rejected both a life in the seminary and the option to be a practicing catholic, a decision the famously atheistic director clearly vibes with. That sense of empathy and understanding with his subject is rife throughout this quietly cleansing and exquisitely considered film, which shows the writer from her late teens (portrayed by Emma Bell) through to adulthood (Cynthia Nixon) and old age.

This frank introductory scene is one of a few exceptions — it occurs outside the grounds of Dickinson’s family home, where the majority of this film takes place. Here, Davies imagines and reenacts delicately detailed social exchanges between the family members and their various bourgeois guests.
