According to them, they are bringing their best game to the final send-off of the Oscar-winning franchise. Redundant to say that the fans are beyond excited at the prospect of being able to witness the potential masterpiece soon.

Sony Pictures has just announced that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse has found its directors in Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson. And yes, this news comes our way nine months after the threequel was meant to swing into theaters.

Persichetti was part of the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse directing team and executive produced Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Thompson, meanwhile, was a production designer on the first movie and graduated to the directing team on the sequel alongside Joaquim Dos Santos and Kemp Powers.

Given their respective roles in shaping this animated franchise, this is quite the dream team for the movie. While it's possible they've been working on Beyond the Spider-Verse for longer than we've been made aware, even a 2026 release date feels optimistic at this stage.

That was evident when the Symbiote, on the run from the Xenophage, fully transformed for a dance number despite repeatedly saying that doing so would bring the near-unstoppable monster bearing down on him.

In the opening few minutes of the threequel, Eddie Brock is sent back to his reality following a brief trip to Earth-616; however, in an unexpected and still-unexplained retcon, he travels through a portal like the ones Knull uses rather than the glowing effect seen in Spider-Man: No Way Home's post-credits stinger.

In a newly revealed deleted scene from Venom: The Last Dance, we find Eddie travelling through the apparent void between realities. A shadowy creature, presumably a Xenophage, spots the Lethal Protector and his Codex, likely revealing how the King in Black learned of its existence.

Like the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Blade, Daredevil, and more, Spider-Man was always off-limits to Marvel Studios. There had long been chatter about the web-slinger appearing in the MCU - who could forget that fake "leaked" post-credits scene for Avengers: Age of Ultron - but it never seemed likely.

In the mid-2010s, Sony Pictures had its own plans for Spidey, including at least two more movies in The Amazing Spider-Man franchise and a Sinister Six project from Drew Goddard.

However, when The Amazing Spider-Man 2 underperformed and leaked "Sony Hack" emails revealed that Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal had at least discussed the possibility of a crossover, the decision was made to bring Peter Parker into the MCU.

After Sony’s recent Marvel misfires on 2022’s Morbius and this year’s Madame Web, I wasn’t holding out too much hope for yet another Marvel villain origin story when I headed to the press screening of Kraven the Hunter. Its shuffling around the release schedule didn’t give me much hope, and word spread from someone at a rival studio that the exhibitor screening didn’t go well, also dampening my hopes.

But I always try to go into a movie with an open mind, and in this case, although Kraven is a well-known villain in the comic book world and has popped up here and there, a starring movie wasn’t top of my list.

With Sony's Spider-Man Universe reportedly at an end, Venom: The Last Dance may be the last movie featuring the Lethal Protector we get for quite some time...unless those Spider-Man 4 rumours prove to be correct, of course.

The threequel hit Digital platforms today and Fandango has just shared the first 10 minutes of the movie. In that, we get the opening prologue with Andy Serkis' Knull, the weird Spider-Man: No Way Home retcon that sees Eddie Brock return to his reality via a completely different type of portal, and a fun clash between the anti-hero and some local thugs.

By now, we're sure you're aware that Venom: The Last Dance set out to establish the King in Black as a major antagonist in a future movie. We don't know whether that's Spider-Man 4 or the presumably now-scrapped Agent Venom project (there's even been chatter about Knull being Sinister Six's...

This Friday, Kraven the Hunter will be released in theaters and, if early box office projections and online buzz are anything to go by, interest in the movie is minimal at best. 

To put it bluntly, it feels like no one cares about this movie or what's become known as "Sony's Spider-Man Universe." It's hard to blame them after the past six years - the franchise launched with 2018's Venom - and it's time to take the studio to task for how it's failed these characters.

There have been rumblings that Venom: The Last Dance might arrive on Digital platforms as soon as this week and Sony Pictures has now confirmed it will be available to watch at home starting tomorrow.

This comes after the threequel ended its theatrical run with $472 million, the franchise's lowest haul. It's unclear whether special features will be included in this release, though we recently got a leaked look at those.

Sony is one of the only studios to hang on for as long as possible when it comes to the gap between a theatrical and Digital release.

For the most part, it's an approach that's paid off, though Kraven the Hunter might premiere at home much quicker than Venom: The Last Dance if recent box office projections are any indication of what's in store for that movie.

2024 is nearing its end but there's still one last comic book movie to see before the year is over. We are, of course, talking about Kraven the Hunter, a Sony Pictures title that, well, not many people actually appear all that interested in watching.

Next weekend, the R-Rated action-adventure will go head-to-head with The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim and it now appears the battle between them is going to be much closer than originally expected.

According to Box Office Theory, Kraven the Hunter looks set to debut in the $16 million - $24 million range. The animated Lord of the Rings movie, however, is eyeing a $15 million - $24 million debut.

With Kraven the Hunter less than two weeks away from arriving in theaters after tickets went on sale this past Friday, we'd expected Sony Pictures to release one final trailer for the Marvel Comics adaptation.

Instead, the studio has just dropped the first 8 minutes of the movie!

This is an unprecedented move, and an approach typically reserved for when a major blockbuster arrives on Digital platforms. It appears Sony wants to give fans a better idea of what to expect from Kraven's long-awaited live-action debut and there's plenty of action and blood to be found in this action-packed sneak peek.

In the preview, we follow Kraven as he's transported to prison where he violently takes out some gangsters. Aaron Taylor-Johnson clearly brushed up on his Russian for these scenes, and the Hunter effortlessly makes his escape after showing off the superpowers which make him more than human.

Like Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage before it, Venom: The Last Dance doesn't exactly have the strongest of scripts.

Plot holes aren't hard to find; for example, why after doing his best to avoid transforming would Venom then do so just for a dance with Mrs. Chen? (resulting in the Xenophage nearly killing them and his and Eddie Brock's eventual capture).

Still, fans were quick to pick up on the fact the threequel made a point of establishing that Detective Pat Mulligan's Symbiote had abandoned him after his run-in with Venom and Carnage in the previous movie. Seeing as the cop was bonded with another of the aliens before being killed, this surely means Toxin is still out there, right?

Perhaps not.

A list of deleted scenes for the upcoming Digital and Blu-ray releases of Venom: The Last Dance has been revealed and among them is "Toxin's Warning.

Tickets for Kraven the Hunter went on sale this morning for Sony Pictures' next Marvel movie and, well, the studio doesn't appear to be pulling out too many stops for this one. So far, four posters have been released, with IMAX's effort recycling an all-too-familiar piece of imagery.

Tickets for Kraven the Hunter went on sale this morning for Sony Pictures' next Marvel movie and, well, the studio doesn't appear to be pulling out too many stops for this one. So far, four posters have been released, with IMAX's effort recycling an all-too-familiar piece of imagery.

Sony's Kraven the Hunter will be hitting the big screen in December, and weeks ahead of the release, the official ScreenX poster has been revealed. It teases the film's release on Dec. 13, 2024, which will include screenings on the visually immersive, 270-degree panoramic ScreenX.

The ScreenX poster features an illustration of Taylor-Johnson in the movie's titular role. Added blood spots — and the character holding a skull in one hand, while clenching a fist with the other — also tease the brutal violence of the R-rated film. Notably, Kraven the Hunter is the first of all of Sony's Spider-Man Universe films to be given an R-rating following Morbius, Madame Web, and the Venom movies. Check out the new poster below.

Venom became giant-sized and, just to punctuate his demise, Rex Strickland blew himself and the two aliens up to ensure the rampaging Xenophage could no longer threaten Earth. Eddie and Venom's "Codex" was also destroyed, leaving Knull trapped on Klyntar...for now, at least.

A new international poster for Kraven the Hunter has been released and it features all the major players, including a first look at Ariana DeBose suited up as Calypso.

In the comics, she studied and wielded powerful arcane magic. After clashing with heroes like Spider-Man and Daredevil, Calypso became known to those who crossed paths with her as "The Witch" and "Hunter of Souls."

It doesn't appear as if Sony Pictures is taking the character down that route, though we're not expecting a particularly comic-accurate take on Kraven (he's given up hunting Spider-Man and is instead focused on tearing apart his father's criminal empire).

A 30-second teaser also teases Kraven's origin story and the fact his mysterious superpowers have turned him into "nature's perfect predator."

“Kraven the Hunter” has been granted a theatrical release in mainland China that is closely coordinated with its North American and international rollouts.

It will open in Chinese theaters on Dec. 14, a Saturday. Its international campaign begins at Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea International Film Festival on Dec 11, along with the first commercial outings in Europe. Its U.S. and Canada releases begin on (Friday) Dec. 12.

The film is the sixth in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe and is a standalone story of how one of Marvel’s most iconic villains came to be.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays Kraven, a man whose complex relationship with his ruthless gangster father, Nikolai Kravinoff (Russell Crowe), starts him down a path of vengeance with brutal consequences, motivating him to become not only the greatest hunter in the world, but also one of its most feared.

Other key cast include Ariana DeBose, Fred Hechinger, Alessandro Nivola and Christopher Abbott.

Venom: The Last Dance featured the live-action debut of the King in Black and God of the Symbiotes, Knull. Played by Andy Serkis, the big bad sent his Xenophage to Earth in a bid to retrieve Eddie Brock and Venom's Codex so he could be freed from his prison on Klyntar.

It didn't work out for the villain but the movie ended with a mid-credits scene driving home what a threat Knull could still be to the universe should he escape.

Now, Karl Lindberg has shared his designs for Knull, explaining, "Worked directly with Writer/Director Kelly Marcel to design this creepy villain. Love how he came out in the movie."

Amazon MGM has confirmed that a Mass Effect TV series is in fact in the works. This is the first update regarding the game since 2021, when we first heard about a collaboration between EA and Amazon MGM.

The Mass Effect TV series is currently being written by Daniel Casey, who will also act as the executive producer for the series. Casey is known for meddling with over-the-top sci-fi concepts, which fans do not seem to like as much.

We're expecting one final trailer for Kraven the Hunter to be released before the end of the month, and a new TV spot reveals even more footage from Sony Pictures' next Marvel movie.

However, the sneak peek - which contains lots of bloody new footage from the movie - also drives home the fact that Kraven the Hunter is a "standalone" story, the same branding given to Madame Web earlier this year. Morbius and Madame Web were both subjects of ridicule and lost a lot of good faith for a studio that's not exactly known for making quality comic book movies when Marvel Studios isn't involved.

Venom: The Last Dance is a fun movie, but there's one moment which has left pretty much everyone scratching their heads.

The threequel establishes that Eddie Brock and Venom must not fully transform because doing so will activate their Codex and bring Knull's Xenophage immediately to their location. It's a major plot point.

Despite that, when the Lethal Protector is reunited with Mrs. Chen in Last Vegas, Venom fully transforms for an extended dance sequence which brings the Xenophage to their location, risks her life, and leads to them being captured by Imperium.
