Blake Lively, Lainey Wilson and Eric Church to perform on the 2025 Academy of Country Music Awards

The Academy of Country Music released the first batch of performers for the upcoming 60th Academy of Country Music Awards. The ACM confirmed today that Blake Shelton, Eric Church, and Lainey Wilson will perform, but they won’t announce the ACM Awards nominees until Thursday, March 27, 2025

16-time ACM Award winner Reba McEntire is hosting the celebration of country music, which will be held on May 8, 2025 at The Star in Frisco, Texas. The awards show will stream live on Prime Video beginning at 5pm Pt/8pm Et.

Blake Shelton is a six-time ACM Award winner and previous ACM Awards host. Shelton’s expected to perform his new top 10 single “Texas,” which pairs nicely with the award show’s venue. Eric Church, who bests Shelton’s winning record by one, is dropping his new album Evangeline Vs.

For the first time, the Globes plans to throw a separate event to honor the recipients of its two largest honorary kudos: Cecil B. DeMille winner Viola Davis and Carol Burnett Award winner Ted Danson will be feted at a gala dinner on Friday, Jan. 3, two days before the main telecast on Sunday, Jan. 5. Also, the Globes is planning a luncheon to recognize first-time nominees.

Carrie Underwood will take the stage in New York City’s Times Square to ring in 2025 on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest” on ABC.

ABC and Dick Clark Productions unveiled the Big Apple lineup for “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve,” with Seacrest marking his 20th year as host alongside co-host Rita Ora.

JoJo Siwa is back on So You Think You Can Dance.

Siwa, who was a judge on Season 17 of the Fox show, will replace Nigel Lythgoe as a judge on Season 18.

This comes after he exited the show following a number of sexual assault complaints.

Siwa will sit alongside Allison Holker and Maksim Chmerkovskiy on the judging panel. Cat Deeley will host the series, which premieres on March 4.

It’s not clear whether the show had to do any reshoots following Lythgoe’s departure.

Lythgoe, the co-creator, lead judge and exec producer of So You Think You Can Dance, is the subject of two sexual misconduct lawsuits, including one filed by Paula Abdul who accused him of assaulting her twice over the past 20 years.

Preeminent comedian Jo Koy has been set to host the 81st Golden Globe Awards, in what will be his first outing in that capacity at a major awards show.

He comes to the role of Globes host after breaking sales records on his “Funny Is Funny World Tour,” which came in as one of the highest grossing of the year according to Pollstar, at a gross of $29.4 million for 88 performances in arenas and theaters around the world.

While the Golden Globes are almost always hosted by comedians these days, the introduction of Koy to the stage is particularly appropriate in a year that’s seen the ceremony introduce a category recognizing Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television, alongside one for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. Inaugural nominees in the former include Chris Rock, Wanda Sykes, Trevor Noah, Sarah Silverman, Ricky Gervais and Amy Schumer.

Reality dance competition series “So You Think You Can Dance” has been renewed for Season 18 at Fox.

The show will return on March 4, 2024 with an all-new documentary style format along with new judges Alison Holker and Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Holker was formerly a contestant on the series, and was married to the late Stephen “tWitch” Boss, who was himself a contestant and judge on the series.

The new pair will join judge Nigel Lythgoe, also the show’s creator and executive producer. Television presenter and actor Cat Deeley returns as host.

Also joining as judge for the auditions round is “So You Think You Can Dance” All-Star Comfort Fedoke, currently an associate choreographer on the “Wicked” film. Showrunner Daniel Martin serves as executive producer along with Lythgoe, Barry Adelman, Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman, with Deeley as producer.

So You Think You Can Dance will return for an 18th season, but with a new judging panel and new format. Season 17 wasn’t a ratings winner, but Fox is apparently willing to take a chance with an invigorated edition of the popular dance competition series.

Season 18’s judging panel will consist of series co-creator Nigel Lythgoe, So You Think You Can Dance All-Star and Emmy-nominated Dancing with the Stars choreographer Allison Holker, and dancer and Dancing with the Stars alum choreographer Maksim Chmerkovskiy. So You Think You Can Dance All-Star Comfort Fedoke, an associate choreographer on Wicked (the film) and associate choreographer for Cabaret on London’s West End, will join the panel during the auditions.

So You Think You Can Dance has been officially renewed for Season 18 on Fox and it’s returning with a new set of judges.

Dancing with the Stars duo Allison Holker and Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Comfort Fedoke, who previously competed on the series, will join Nigel Lythgoe on the judging panel for the show, which returns on March 4.

Cat Deeley will once again host.

Season 17, which premiered in May 2022, featured JoJo Siwa and Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss, who died in December. Matthew Morrison was initially a judge but was fired from the show for failing to follow production protocols and replaced by Leah Remini.

Filming has started in Atlanta.

So You Think You Can Dance is produced by Sony Pictures Television’s 19 Entertainment and Dick Clark Productions. The series is executive produced by Daniel Martin who also serves as showrunner and by series co-creator Nigel Lythgoe, Barry Adelman, Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman.

The Academy of Country Music Awards have named their co-hosts for the show’s annual webcast May 11, bringing in Garth Brooks for his first-ever role hosting any awards show — joining repeat ACMs host Dolly Parton, who did it as part of a trio last year and as a solo host back in 2000.

The 58th annual edition of the show will be seen on Amazon Prime Video exclusively for the second consecutive year. The ACM Awards left broadcast television behind last year after having aired on CBS from 1998 through 2021, and on ABC and NBC through the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association took another step forward toward a revitalized Golden Globes on Monday by announcing the nominees for the 2023 awards show, set to take place next month.

HFPA president Helen Hoehne kicked off the festivities just after 5 a.m. inside the Beverly Hilton by revealing that George Lopez had to bow out of presenter duties after testing positive for Covid-19, proving that while there are lingering questions about how the industry will respond to a resuscitated show, there’s still a pandemic to contend with. (As such, all press, publicists and attendees of the nominations event had to provide proof of a negative Covid-19 test in order to attend and wear a mask while inside the ballroom.)

George Lopez’s daughter, Mayan Lopez, still turned up as expected and was joined by their fellow Lopez vs. Lopez co-star Selenis Leyva.

This year’s American Music Awards show is looking at some big changes behind the scenes, as ABC and Dick Clark Productions are announcing that Jesse Collins — recently of the Grammys and Oscars — is taking over as showrunner and executive producer, starting with the telecast set for Nov. 21 of this year.

Collins has been on quite the roll recently. In the first half of 2021, he produced the Weeknd’s Super Bowl halftime show, was a co-executive producer of the Grammys, and co-produced the Oscars — as close to a triple crown as you can get in winter and spring TV entertainment events. These followed his production of the 2020 BET Awards, which was regarded by many as the best of the reinvented pandemic-era television awards show broadcasts.

Jesse Collins Entertainment is also being named as a producer of the AMAs, alongside Dick Clark Productions.

Emmy-nominated producer Jesse Collins has been named executive producer and showrunner of the 2021 American Music Awards. The 49th edition of the fan-voted awards show, created by Dick Clark, will air live from L.A.’s Microsoft Theater on Sunday, Nov. 21, on ABC. Collins’ Jesse Collins Entertainment will produce the event along with dick clark productions, marking the first time Dcp has taken in a co-producing partner on one of the company’s signature awards shows.

Collins will executive produce alongside Dcp’s EVP of Television Barry Adelman and longtime AMAs producer Larry Klein.

The AMAs gig is the latest addition to a big 2021 for Collins. He co-executive produced this year’sGrammy Awards, executive produced the 2021 Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show and produced The 2021 Academy Awards, along with executive producing the 2021 BET Awards through Jce.

The Weeknd will perform at the Billboard Music Awards on May 23 — which is only fitting since he’s the top finalist this year with nominations in 16 categories, riding the success of his blockbuster “After Hours” album and its smash single “Blinding Lights,” which has crushed multiple streaming and chart records.

Over the course of his decade-long career, the Weeknd has racked up a dazzling number of Billboard chart records: He’s had 34 top 40-charting hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including six No. 1s, three of which came from “After Hours”: “Heartless,” “Blinding Lights” and his recent duet with Ariana Grande, “Save Your Tears,” which hit No. 1 more than a year after the album was released. “Blinding Lights” spent a record-breaking 57 weeks in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100.

He’s also had four No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 chart, including “After Hours,” which is the first album with three Billboard Hot 100 No.

The 2021 Billboard Music Awards will have its live show overseen by multi-platinum recording artist, actor, and current The Voice coach Nick Jonas.

The awards will air live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, May 23 at 8 Pm Et/ 5 Pm Pt on NBC.

Jonas is a member of the three-time Billboard Music Award-winning trio Jonas Brothers. The band had a comeback in 2019 with album Happiness Begins and a tour that saw more than 1.2 million tickets sold.

As an actor, Jonas appeared in the 2016 Sundance Film Festival selection Goat, and appeared alongside Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Sony’s highest-grossing domestic film. It was the most unusual Golden Globes Awards since 2008, when the writers’ strike forced producers to scrap it in favor of a press conference. But this year, the show strived to be, in the words of executive producer Barry Adelman, as “Golden Globes-y” as possible.

That meant embracing unpredictable moments, such as when Catherine O’Hara’s husband added sound effects from his phone to the “Schitt’s Creek” star’s acceptance speech, or when “Judas and the Black Messiah” star Daniel Kaluuya accidentally had his laptop on mute (something that was quickly rectified).

“There were a number of surprises all night long where suddenly people popped up in situations that you had no idea that it was happening,” Adelman said. “I thought it made the show extremely interesting. You suddenly saw children walk into the frame, you saw dogs. Jodie Foster and her wife and their dog was a total surprise and a wonderful picture.

Sunday night's broadcast of the Golden Globes is a very different affair from the usual mingling of A-listers, but unlike some other Covid-era award shows, the Globes do have an audience this year. At both locations where the ceremony is taking place, the audience is filled with frontline workers, and hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler paid tribute to them in the opening monologue as only they can.

Nominations for the 78th Annual Golden Globe Awards were announced on Wednesday morning by Sarah Jessica Parker and Taraji P. Henson, along with Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Lorenzo Soria, Dick Clark Productions’ Barry Adelman and 2021 Golden Globe ambassadors Satchel and Jackson “Children of Spike” Lee.

It has been announced that Norman Lear will be honored this year with The Carol Burnett Award, while Jane Fonda is the latest recipient of filmdom’s Cecil B. DeMille Award.

The Crown led the TV pack, garnering six total nominations, including for Best Drama and lead actress Olivia Colman.

The final season of Schitt’s Creek followed with five nods, while HBO’s The Undoing and Netflix’s Ozark snagged four each.

NBC has announced it will broadcast this year’s Golden Globes on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021, with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler returning to host for a fourth time, but this time they'll be doing so from opposite coasts.

The 78th Annual Golden Globe Awards is going bicoastal. Hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, returning to helm the the ceremony for the first time since 2015, won’t be in the same room together: Instead, Fey will broadcast live from The Rainbow Room (at the top of Rockefeller Center) in New York City, while Poehler will host from the Globes’ usual spot inside the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.

This marks the first time that the Golden Globes has been beamed from multiple locations in its 78-year history, but not the first time an awards show has been simultaneously held in both New York and Los Angeles, as the Oscars did it for several years in the mid-1950s. The decision to station Fey on the East Coast and Poehler on the West Coast comes as the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, NBC and Globes producers Dick Clark Prods.

Icon, meet icon. Norman Lear has been tapped to receive the third-ever Carol Burnett Award at the 78th Annual Golden Globe Awards next month.

The TV legend follows last year’s honoree, Ellen DeGeneres, and Burnett herself, who accepted the inaugural kudo named after her in 2019. Lear will accept the award during the Golden Globes telecast on Feb. 28, although the logistics of the show (and how he’ll receive the honor in these Covid-distanced times) have yet to be revealed.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association created the Carol Burnett award to honor TV notables, as a companion to its film-centric Cecil B. DeMille Award — which this year, as previously announced, will go to Jane Fonda.

The second night of the Creative Arts Emmys Awards kicked off Tuesday.

Among the big winners for the night were “Last Week Tonight With John Oliver,” which won three Emmys. That includes a win for best writing for a variety series. In addition, “Saturday Night Live” walked away with yet another win in the best variety sketch series category, marking one of three wins it scored throughout the night.

The second installment of “Live in Front of a Studio Audience” picked up the award for best live variety special, which it also won last year. The win also made executive producer Norman Lear the oldest Emmy winner ever at 98, beating his own record when he won at 97.

“So You Think You Can Dance” Season 17 is not going to air this summer on Fox as planned.

A rep for the broadcast network tells Variety that production on the dance competition series cannot move forward as planned due to health and safety restrictions caused by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. As a result, the show will miss its premiere date for the first time since it launched back in 2005.

According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, the network is not ruling out the show returning once production can resume safely. However, it would likely not be until summer 2021 as Fox’s fall and midseason schedules are currently set.

“Sytycd” is by no means the first show to be impacted by the pandemic and will likely not be the last. Virtually all television production shutdown back in March, with several shows missing their planned premiere dates as a result.
