When Gary J. Tunnicliffe waxes lyrical on the Hellraiser series, it’s worth standing up and taking notice.
Now on the verge of its tenth instalment, Hellraiser: Judgment, Tunnicliffe recently appeared on the latest episode of The Movie Crypt podcast (h/t Bloody Disgusting), in which the series veteran and frequent make-up artist teased some of the brutal horrors in store.
Directing from his own script, Hellraiser: Judgment is very much a passion project for Tunnicliffe, who told hosts Adam Green and Joe Lynch that he’s never had as much fun – nor has he worked so hard – during the production of Judgment. And yes, the end product will be fluent in scares and gruesome deaths.
I had the most fun on that I’ve ever had, and I’ve never worked so hard on a Hellraiser film, but we had a great time. We did two sequences where… one the actress almost passed out…...

George Washington apparently has nothin’ on President Donald Trump.
During his Youngstown, Ohio, rally on Tuesday evening, Trump told his gathered supporters that, “With the exception of the late, great Abraham Lincoln, I can be more presidential than any president that’s ever held this office.”
The president also attempted to make a convoluted joke about being on Mount Rushmore, stating that if he said it even as a joke the media would take it seriously: “Now here’s what I do. I’d ask whether or not you someday think I will be on Mount Rushmore. But here’s the problem,...

President Donald Trump and members of his administration are feeling the wrath of the Irish after a series of culturally insensitive moments during Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny’s annual St. Patrick’s Day-timed visit to Washington.
Kenny, who had previously criticized Trump for his “racist and dangerous” language, followed through with the traditional trip on Thursday, despite a petition from nearly 40,000 people who demanded he cancel.
With his staff and more than 20 Irish reporters by his side, the prime minister (called a “Taoiseach” in the Irish language) participated in a day of events — including a luncheon at the U.

On May 25, 1979, a misty summer morning in New York City, 6-year-old Etan Patz begged his mother, Julie, to let him walk the few blocks to school alone. She relented, and the last time she saw him alive he was walking away from her.
Etan’s mysterious disappearance struck fear both in his New York City neighborhood and the country as a whole, as the little boy became a leading face for the search for missing children everywhere.
In February, decades after he became the first-ever “milk carton kid,” a jury finally convicted Etan’s killer though his body was never found.

There aren’t many shows where you’d find a gruesomely decomposing body dumped on Boner Street, but leave it to Bones to go there.
The kid trying to steal the sign and stumbling over the corpse was expected, but Brennan, of all people, getting such a laugh over the street name was not.
The human penis has no skeleton material of any kind.

Let’s face it, humor is subjective.
And Bones Season 12 Episode 5 was a bit of a letdown.

However, I did enjoy hearing the team debate who was the best dry cleaner to remove blood, mucus membrane, and fecal matter.

Here's a meager suggestion: Cherish this time now, because we've arrived at the most enjoyable stage of the "Big Brother" season. While there are still plenty of obvious losers with cellophane eyes and candy brains who need to leave Chenbot Manor and head back to their Not So Elite modeling gigs, we've finally arrived at the moment where we can recognize everyone in the house, identify their weaknesses and strengths, and make real predictions. During last night's Power of Veto episode, I came up with five big points to consider as the season progresses. To validate my points, I'm dragging along Andy Herren -- the winner of BB15 -- to share his thoughts on the players too. Here are our five biggest takeaway's from Wednesday's Pov spectacular. 1. Donny is the best. And the worst. Andy Herren: I hate Donny. Don’t get me wrong, I Love Donny, but that’s why I hate him.

Josh Charles received his second Best Supporting Actor nomination this morning for playing (the late) Will Gardner on CBS’s The Good Wife. Sick with a cold and cough, he went back to bed after getting up early to let out his dog, Zeus—and learned of his nod when he rolled over and saw a congratulatory email on his iPhone. “Nothing super fancy or exciting, sorry,” he jokes to EW. “I’m really excited about it even if my voice doesn’t sound normal.”

Either Barack Obama is a big fan of Funny Or Die, or people on his staff think it's the best way to reach young people, but the administration has been going hard on the channel in order to get folks to sign up for government health care aka Obamacare. The President himself even sat down with Zach Galifianakis for an episode of "Between Two Ferns." Now, another approach is being tried to ensure everyone gets themselves coverage. Adam Scott has returned to reprise his slimy character Derek from "Step Brothers," and he takes a break from hanging with his bros Mark Cuban, Jeff Probst, and Chris Daughtry, to talk health care and how he doesn't need it....only to realize that it might come in handy. Check it out below, but we do have one comment. You know what this video needs more of? Rob Riggle.

Chicago – It’s “Cabaret” for god’s sake. It’s not “Bambi”. You’re supposed to need to leave the kids at home watching their own Disney flick. You don’t go to McDonald’s to eat healthy just like you don’t go to “Cabaret” for good clean fun.

The show at Chicagoland’s Marriott Theatre starts off with so much potential because of a promise from our Emcee (Stephen Schellhardt). Theatre Review: ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ Returns With Ingénue Julia Udine, Enigmatic Cooper Grodin
Chicago – The Phantom in one word? An enigma. But he’s so much more. He’s lonely, desperately in love, a musical genius, misunderstood, vengeful, afraid and angry at a world that was so cruel to him. His shining beacon out of the darkness is his music – and falling for Christine. But The Phantom has to try to force her to feel the same way. He doesn’t want your pity. He just wants to be musical, loved and understood.

One day after 26 people were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Dec. 14, 'Saturday Night Live' opened with a tribute to those lost on Dec. 15. The New York City Children's Chorus opened the Dec. 15 episode of Saturday Night Live by singing "Silent Night," a clear departure from SNL's usual comedy routine-type opening. The song was performed in tribute to the 20 children and six adults who were shot and killed by Adam Lanza, 20, on Dec. 14 at Sandy Hook Elementary School. At the closing of the Christmas song, the chorus turned back to tradition and shouted, "Live from New York, it's Saturday Night!" If ABC were to go into Sunday’s Emmy ceremony confident that Modern Family was about to add its third comedy series statuette to the network’s trophy case, no one would be the slightest bit surprised. The odds are so in favor of a threepeat for the feel-good, laugh-hard smash that it’s almost no contest. So just imagine how shocked everybody would be if HBO’s Girls — arguably the most talked-about show of the season — managed to parlay all of its buzz into gold. Could the breakout hit, with its sheen of indie cool, really defeat the returning champ,...

For his new movie, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Ben Stiller plays a timid magazine photo manager who lives life vicariously through daydreams and at one point in the film, we fast-forward to Walter as an old man -- a moment that also gives Ben's wife Christine Taylor a glimpse into her future.
Video - Ben & Christine's Burning Love
I've gotta give the producers credit because this is some phenomenal makeup work. Instead of over-applying lots of prosthetics (think Leonardo DiCaprio in J. Edgar), they've simply aged up Ben, creating a creepily accurate depiction
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, which hits theaters on December 25, 2013, is adapted from the iconic 1939 short story and co-stars Kristen Wiig, Sean Penn, Adam Scott, Kathryn Hahn, Shirley MacLaine and Josh Charles.

(Update: Adam B. Vary’s recap is live!) It’s been an understandable complaint issued by even some of Mad Men’s most ardent fans (including EW’s Ken Tucker) that the last few episodes of season 5 have traded subtle character shifts for sledgehammer shocks. Not to mention that every new installment threatened to spin its plot threads a little bit more obviously around a central unifying theme. So you would have guessed that the finale, titled “The Phantom,” would have saved the most jarring reveals for the end. But not so! By my reckoning at least, ‘The Phantom” was...

In conjunction with La Furia Umana, Notebook is very happy to present Ted Fendt's original English translation of Luc Moullet's "Rockefeller's Melancholy," on Michelangelo Antonioni. Moullet's original French version can be found at La Furia Umana. Our special thanks to Mr. Moullet, La Furia Umana and Ted Fendt for making this possible.

Drifting is the fundamental subject of Antonioni’s films. They are about beings who don’t know where they are going, who constantly contradict themselves, and are guided by their momentary impulses. We don’t understand what they feel or why they act as they do.
Psychological cinema could be defined in this way: it is psychological when you don’t understand the motivation of emotions and behaviors. If you understand, it means it’s easy, immediately, at a very superficial level... The filmmaker must therefore let it be...

Adam Sandler has pretty much mastered the role of an adult who can't grow up, but now he's taking that archetype to a whole new level — because he's officially attached to star in a live action feature film based on the Hasbro's board game, Candy Land. Yes, the one with the quasi-hot Princess Frostine and semi-evil Lord Licorice.
In the game (in case you've forgotten) players go on a magical journey through fantastical lands made of candy, sweets, and ice cream: the Peppermint Forest, the Gum Drop Mountains, and the Lollypop Woods.encounter such iconic characters as Mr. Mint, King Kandy and the halfway melted fudge bar, Gloppy.
We can already hear the activist groups against promoting such horrible eating habits to children now... but we digress.

I'm a huge fan of animation, animated films are getting better and better. Not only is the look and animation getting ridiculously awesome, but I find that many of these animated films actually have incredibly good stories. Not all of them are good though, for example, Cars 2 and Rio sucked. It will be interesting to see who ends up taking home the awards this year. Out of the movies on the list that I've seen and liked we have Puss in Boots, Rango and Kung Fu Panda 2. I guess it's no surprises that Kung Fu Panda 2 is leading the nominations with 9. Check out the list and let us know what your favorite animated movies of the year are!

Considering many of his recent performances, a monster hunter isn’t the world’s biggest transition for Dwayne Johnson. According to Deadline, the action star will lead The Monster Hunter’s Survival Guide, an adaptation of John Paul Russ‘ comic miniseries that serves as “a comprehensive guide to hunt monsters, the undead and unnatural beasts, and survive the confrontations.” Simon Kinberg, a writer who’s made contributions to Jumper and Mr & Mrs. Smith, will be producing through his group, Genre Films.
The name and basic description — both of which are kind of synonymous with one another — don’t give me the impression that this is going to be Vivre Sa Vie, but my entertainment-based instincts tell me that the sight of Johnson eliminating some kind of evil creature would be pleasing, to put it bluntly. It appears things have come full circle for Ethan Hunt, the hero of the Mission: Impossible movies, a.k.a. Tom Cruise’s one and only movie franchise. In the first film — released 15 years ago, just to blow your mind for a moment — Hunt was “disavowed” as an Imf agent after a mission gone horribly wrong. [With I Was A Teenage Werebear playing film festivals and Chillerama set to debut later this year, Tim Sullivan writes up the first of two parts, regarding his experiences bringing this unique film to life! --Dqm]
As I write this, I am sitting in my hotel room in Honolulu, one day before the world premiere of my Chillerama segment, I Was a Teenage Werebear at the Rainbow Film Fest.. It’s been a long journey to get to this point. I am grateful to so many who supported my journey, and even more grateful to those who did not, for they only strengthened my fortitude to be true to myself, and to my artistic vision. Hawaii will be followed by a 3 month tour on the Lgbt film circuit, before Werebears joins its companion films as part of Chillerama late summer/early fall. (I cannot Wait to tell you what me, Adam Rifkin, Joe Lynch and Adam Green got planned for That!!!!)
With the ocean breeze wafting through the balcony windows, I find myself in a reflective mode. For those who don’t already know it, let me just spell it out.

When Third Window Films' Adam Torel left Tartan in 2005, as he mentioned in our interview, it was mainly because he felt that the quality of films being released by the "Asia Extreme" label was plummeting fast. After leaving Tartan, Adam started buying up titles that deserved to be seen, but fit nowhere under any label's horror/extreme cinema's line. It was a bold decision to make when all of the big money was on those titles, and in the end it didn't really pay financially, however, the films he's picked up remain quality films, while people barely remember things like Sorum and Acacia.
Torel picked up a ton of great Korean films at first, running the gamut between the critically acclaimed work of Lee Chang Dong (Peppermint Candy, Oasis, and Green Fish) and the box office powerhouses of Friend and Guns & Talks. Starting in May of 2007 he started releasing the...

The first two labels I have profiled for Twitch have been mainly focused on bringing older or forgotten films to home video, so I thought it was time to check up on a label whose focus is on contemporary cinema, and I can hardly think of a better example than Third Window Films. With our exclusive first look at Third Window's acquisition of Sion Sono's Cold Fish, a film that has just started making the festival rounds a couple of months ago, you can tell that they have their finger on the pulse of Asian cinema and they strive to stay ahead of the curve and we get the benefit of that foresight.

Thomas and Sophia reprised the Inostranka Conference, as they had in Episode 1.03 and in Episode 1.02 before that. The Avias passengers suffered nosebleeds, as they had in Episode 1.04. Michael Buchanan demanded to know what was going on, as he had the episode before. Thomas, as usual, was on his mobile phone. He was disobeying Sophia, as usual.
There’s nothing new under the sun, and there was very little new on Inostranka. Sean and Leila reunited after an unlikely decision by Vicky, Blake Sterling presented his final solution to the Inostranka problem, President Martinez showed a dark side to his character, and Sophia revealed a humane outlook.
Last night’s episode was weak. Perhaps some episodes must serve to “put the pieces in place”. This is a nearly axiomatic truth in serial fiction, but even so, we cannot be faulted for some expectation of novel technique,...
