Cygames' fantasy RPG smart phone game Princess Connect! Re:Dive will hold an online event "Priconne Fes 2025" on its official YouTube channel on February 8 and 9, 2025. The game released in Japan on February 15, 2018 for Android and iOS, and this event will be held to celebrate the seventh anniversary of the release. As part of the program, a new special anime will stream on the channel on February 9, the second day of the event. This special anime will be newly produced for “Priconne Fes 2025”. Audiences don't love classic shojo just because of the nostalgia factor. While that definitely plays into why some more notorious or madcap titles become cult classics, like Vampire Knight, there are many other shojo classics that still hold up to today. Newer anime audiences and viewers who only watched shonen anime could start these titles and enjoy everything they have to offer.

Classic shojo titles tell diverse stories, from enchanted, intergalactic magical girl journeys to contemporary coming-of-age stories about love and artistry. Some titles, like The Rose of Versailles, set the genre standards for historical anime. Others pushed at the boundaries of gender convention, and still have progressive storytelling merit today.

Yakuza Fiance is a romantic crime drama anime following the events of Yoshino Somei getting forcibly engaged to the heir to the Miyama yakuza family. However, Yoshino is determined to get her revenge on her fiance for all the struggles he put her through, no matter how much it ends up costing her.

Yakuza Fiance couldn't thrive without Yoshino's character carrying the action and plot on her shoulders. She's a strong, independent woman who is willing to work for the things she wants, even if it puts her in danger. She's an admirable character in the world of shojo who brings to mind fellow heroines, who stand bravely in the face of danger and shame.

Shojo manga and anime are marketed towards a young girl audience. Shojo stories tend to revolve around personal growth, friendship dynamics, and falling in love. Though shojo anime tends to have a certain set of tropes and themes, the stories are still quite varied.

Likewise, slice-of-life anime spans across many subgenres and demographics; it explores the daily lives of interesting characters who are often entering a new world or phase of life. Shojo combined with slice-of-life makes for a great story. Series like Ouran High School Host Club explore the school life and romances of elite students, and stories like My Happy Marriage tell the incremental story of a woman who enters an arranged marriage, slowly recovers from trauma, and falls in love for the first time.

Following the airing of episode 19, Spice & Wolf‘s reboot anime, titled Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets The Wise Wolf, revealed that it the will enter a brand new arc with the next episode.

Episode 20 will air in Japan on Aug 19, 2024.

The new arc is titled ‘The Legend of the Pagan Gods’ and follows the events in the 4th volume of the light novel that was skipped in the 2008 anime adaptation of Spice and Wolf.

The plot will focus on Lawrence & Holo who arrive at the village of Tereo, where Holo searches for the legend of her homeland, Yoitsu.

A new key visual and additional cast members were released along with the announcement.

Lynn, who is known for voicing Miorine from Gundam: The Witch From Mercury, will voice Elsa Schtingheim. Elsa is a young girl who serves as a deputy priestess at the church in Tereo.

Four-part visual novel series 9-nine- will be bringing its stories together in a new anime adaptation, it was announced today. The supernatural mystery game series, developed by game studio Palette, tells four stories that take place in the same setting, with each chapter focused on a different heroine. As the four chapters progress, protagonist Kakeru Niimi (voiced by Atsushi Abe) learns more about the supernatural influences of the people and places around him. The first of the heroines Kakeru meets is Miyako Kujo, voiced by Misato Fukuen. The uneven Japanese animated fantasy “The Deer King” often resembles the sort of Studio Ghibli action-adventure that made animation figurehead Hayao Miyazaki internationally famous, especially “Princess Mononoke” and “Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.” “The Deer King” not only looks like those Studio Ghibli staples, but also follows a plot that recalls Ghibli-style high fantasies: two warring feudal kingdoms try either to capture or enlist Van, a resourceful ex-soldier who may or may not be immune to a devastating plague.
