Featuring, perhaps, the most serious discussion of first amendment rights from two grown men in clown makeup, “The United States of Insanity” dares you to laugh at the absurdity of Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope’s oddly-loved Insane Clown Posse before diving headfirst into a lengthy, and occasionally heady, conversation regarding the power structures behind who is allowed to dictate musical taste and the ways in which the government attempts to act as cultural curators.

Exclusive: Strike Back Studios has acquired U.S. distribution rights to The United States of Insanity, directed by Tom Putnam & Brenna Sanchez. The deal for the documentary, about the rap group Insane Clown Posse and its die-hard fans — known as Juggalos — fighting back against the fans being classified as a gang organization by the FBI a decade ago, comes as the feature is readying for its world premiere at Fantastic Fest.
Directed by Directed by Tom Putnam & Brenna Sanchez (Burn), the film centers on Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope, the rappers who make up “the World’s Most Hated Band,” who find themselves as unwitting warriors for the First Amendment. Two of Tom Hanks’ sons, Chet and Colin Hanks, have released statements in response to the news that Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, have tested positive for coronavirus.
Hanks and Wilson are currently quarantined in Australia, where Hanks was filming an Elvis Presley biopic with Baz Luhrmann. On Wednesday night, Chet released a video statement about the situation to social media; Chet has gained public attention in recent months for frequently speaking in Jamaican patois, but here he appeared to be talking in his normal voice (although he was shirtless).

Insane Clown Posse's Shaggy 2 Dope attempted to do something truly crazy this weekend to fellow rocker Fred Durst ... a running dropkick -- which totally crashed and burned. Fred was performing with his own band, Limp Bizkit, Saturday night at the 2018 Rock Allegiance Festival in Camden, New Jersey when Shaggy tried rushing him on stage with a WWE wrestling move that completely backfired. The dropkick ended up dropping Shaggy more effectively than it did Fred ... and...

It's September: The young 'uns are back in school, going outside doesn't mean you'll automatically sweat through half your clothes and the movies bounce back from the annual August lull. Nearly a year and a half after announcing plans to sue, the Insane Clown Posse has officially filed a lawsuit against the FBI for allegedly violating their rights of free expression and association and due process. In the filing submitted today by Icp members Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope, along with four other Juggalos, the group claims the FBI falsely categorized the band and its followers as a "loosely affiliated hybrid gang" in its 2011 National Gang Threat Assessment. The band is represented by the Aclu, and we would like to float the idea now that Matthew McConaughey portray their lawyer in the big-screen adaptation of the trial.

They’re no strangers to controversy and it seems Insane Clown Posse's antics over the years have garnered the attention of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Justice Department.
Violent J (Joseph Bruce) and Shaggy 2 Dope (Joseph William Utsler) have joined forces with four of their biggest fans to file a lawsuit against the FBI and Department of Justice for violating their constitutional rights by classifying their Juggalo following as a gang.
Mr. J explained, “It’s time for the FBI to come to its senses and recognize that Juggalos are not a gang but a worldwide family united by the love of music.
“There has never been — and will never be — a music fan base quite like Juggalos, and while it is easy to fear what one does not understand, discrimination and bigotry against any group of people is just plain wrong and un-American.”

The gents of Insane Clown Posse, the Detroit-based masters of demented face paint and horrorcore hip-hop, were the latest artists to take in a flick with NextMovie. Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope caught a showing of "Water For Elephants," starring Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon, and -- wait for it -- they weren't fans.

There are some days that seem to be especially fruitful for celebrity birthdays, and apparently October 14 is one of them. Today you can celebrate the birth of actress and former WWE star Stacy Keibler, Insane Clown Posse member Shaggy 2 Dope (born Joseph Utsler), Dixie Chicks singer Natalie Maines, British actor Steve Coogan and "Tank Girl" star Lori Petty. But we'll mostly spend the day shaking our tailfeathers in honor of Usher, who turns 32 years old today.
The man born Usher Raymond has been singing and dancing professional for most of his life. He famously competed on "Star Search" when he was only 13 years old, and that performance lead to an audition in front of Laface Records co-founder Antonio "L.A." Reid. Usher's self-titled debut hit store shelves just shy of his 16th birthday (that's half his life ago), featuring production from Diddy and backing vocals from Faith Evans.

Back at the beginning of August, one of the biggest music festivals of the year took place over a long weekend in Illinois. No, not Lollapalooza — the 11th annual Gathering of the Juggalos, the four-day extravaganza curated by and starring the Insane Clown Posse.
The festival has grown in both size and stature over the past few years, in part because of the online success of trailers that tout the festival and in part because of its increasingly eclectic lineups.
But this year, the Gathering picked up some attention for more negative reasons. A good portion of the mainstream media coverage of the festival reported on the injuries suffered by reality star and sometimes rapper Tila Tequila, who...

When the Insane Clown Posse paid a visit to the MTV Newsroom on Wednesday (September 1), they were running a little bit late. That's typical of most of the stars who come to chat with us, as their schedules are usually overloaded and navigating midtown traffic to get to our Times Square offices can be a little tricky. But Icp were slightly tardy because of an issue unique to them, as they were touching up their makeup before coming over.
Despite the fact that they are extremely close to their fans, Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope tend not to go anywhere without first putting their faces on. They wear their makeup everywhere — including in their new movie "Big Money Rustlas," which was just released on DVD. The face paint is an important part of their respective characters, and wearing the makeup allows Juggalos to identify each other more easily. It...

Eminem and Jay-z will take the stage at Comerica Park in Slim Shady's hometown of Detroit on Thursday (September 2) for the kickoff of the unprecedented Home and Home concerts. The shows feature arguably the world's two biggest MCs onstage together in baseball stadiums in each of their respective birthplaces. There was a time back in the day when the idea of Eminem representing Detroit would have called forth the ire of fellow Motor City madmen Insane Clown Posse, but that is now water under the bridge.
"The beef we had with him was 11 years ago," Shaggy 2 Dope explained. "That's like beefing with somebody in high school and going to your 20th high school reunion, and you still have heat with that kid?...

We just got back from a chat with Shaggy 2 Dope and Violent J, the leaders of Insane Clown Posse and, to hear some tell it, the greatest thing to come out of Detroit since rack and pinion steering.
We'll have a lot of info for all you Juggalos out there, but we wanted to get this hot piece of breaking news about the Icp's next movie to you stat. Here's the transcript:
Ugo: So Big Money Rustlas is a prequel to Big Money Hustlas, it’s in the old west, what’s next? Do we got a prequel prequel or is it the future?
Violent J: The next idea, brother, which you’re the first one we ever told about this. . .
Exclusive: Insane Clown Posse Announces Their Big Money Follow-Up
Ugo: Give me that exclusive man.
Violent J: The next idea is to do the fresh science fiction space movie.

Last year, the Insane Clown Posse took the Internet by storm when they released an informercial advertising the Gathering, the annual festival curated and hosted by Shaggy 2 Dope and Violent J. In the year that followed, Icp stayed on the minds of Web surfers everywhere with their much-talked-about music video for "Miracles." Now the clowns are back with another infomercial advertising this year's Gathering (the 11th annual!), which will go down August 12-15 once again in Cave In Rock, Illinois.
The new commercial kicks it up a notch, presenting the lineup and features of this year's event with a new video that is 17 minutes long. So just in case you're not like us and totally willing to watch it over and over again, here's the breakdown of the highlights.
00:08 The narrator describes the Gathering as "the nation's only truly underground music festival, with no corporate sponsorship." The guys...

Saturday night's (April 17) edition of "Saturday Night Live" featured a handful of highlights, including a costume-happy performance by Ke$ha, a funny opening monologue by Ryan Phillipe and a gut-busting sketch called "Mort Mort Feingold, Accountant to the Stars" (which the titular character offer tax advice to celebrities like Robert Pattinson, Susan Boyle and John Edwards — whose marital status had gone from "married" to "disgusting").
But tucked into the end of the show was an incredibly sharp sketch sending up the Insane Clown Posse's "Miracles" video, a clip that becomes more viral and talked-about by the day. The sketch surrounds the premiere of the new video from Thrilla Killa Klownz called "Magical Mysteries" (which follows up previous efforts like "Curb Stomp Your Enthusiasm"). The clip borrows the low-fi graphics of the Icp original and introduces a whole new plethora of things to be confused about.
"What is Alaska?/ Who is Brazil?...

On Wednesday (April 7), a huge underground rap sensation debuted a brand new music video. No, it wasn't Kid Cudi, Gucci Mane or Wacka Flocka Flame — it was Detroit's own Insane Clown Posse, who dropped the clip for "Miracles," a track that comes from their most recent album Bang! Pow! Boom!
The video is amazing for a handful of reasons. First of all, for a group as obsessed with violence, mayhem and nihilism as Icp, it's a remarkably low-key, almost spiritual affair. The clip itself is sort of a psychedelic special effects extravaganza that is sometimes really literal (like when the boys are transported to San Francisco Bay to feed a pelican) and sometimes just confusing (anything involving that weird tower). But the thing that jumped out at us the most was the fact that most of the things Shaggy 2 Dope and Violent J talk about aren't really miracles (much...

Maybe sometime back in 90's, you considered yourself a little "juggalo" or "juggalette". Well, if you're still a fan of clown misogyny then you are going to enjoy this! Special appearance by Bridget the porn midget! I'm not sharing this to make you miserable. I'm showing you this because...

Chop-happy hip-hoppers Insane Clown Posse have just rolled out a new video to promote the latest single from their hugely-successful album Bang! Pow! Boom! The video for In Yo Face features the duo in classic "Dark Carnival" mode, at the center of a colorfully crazed circus of horrors. So get it on, ninjas – hit the jump, check out the vid and let us know what you think. Hoppin', poppin' and choppin' in true Icp fashion, the team of Shaggy 2 Dope and Violent J work their maniacal magic at the legendary "Theater Bizarre," smacking assorted victims in the grill in brutally comic ways (hell, it's not an Icp gig if someone doesn't get hosed down with Faygo at some point) as they dish out...

After a two year hiatus, the face paint laden duo known as the Insane Clown Posse have returned with the highly anticipated Bang! Pow! Boom! The album, which is a legitimate return to the Dark Carnival concept that helped make the Detroit representatives so popular, is actually some of the best work Icp has ever released. For a couple of guys who have dropped more records than the majority of active musicians today, I’ve got to consider this album a special feat.
Bang! Pow! Boom!, which debuted on the Billboard Top 200 charts at number four (and number one on the indie charts) is packed full of hard hitting beats, sadistic lyrics and the catchiest hooks the clowns have dropped to date. Though both Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope keep the content within their verses as savage as ever, nearly every song on the album boasts an infectious chant,...

2009 has been a banner year for the team of Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope – the talented duo behind the multimedia empire that is Insane Clown Posse. They recently celebrated the tenth anniversary of their massive fan exodus "Gathering of the Juggalos," during which they screened a preview of their new movie Big Money Rustlas. They've also re-teamed with producer Mike E. Clarke, who had worked with Icp on their celebrated albums The Great Milenko and The Amazing Jeckel Brothers (both considered landmarks in dark-themed hip-hop and the core of their "Joker's Card" series), to complete their new record Bang! Pow! Boom! which hits the streets tomorrow from their own label Psychopathic Records. I...
