Alright, let’s get this out of the way: Dawson’s Creek was the guilty pleasure of the late ‘90s and early 2000s. It was the TV equivalent of a high school breakup that you never really got over. The angsty love triangles, the tragic back-and-forth between Dawson and Joey, and of course, Pacey – who was just too cool for the entire show.
We were hooked, we were obsessed, and we just knew we’d be watching those familiar faces for years. But like all good things, Dawson’s Creek didn’t last forever. After six seasons, the show wrapped up in 2003, leaving fans asking, “Why, oh why, did you have to pull the plug so soon?”

Don’t worry; we’re not here to leave you hanging, not like some of the show’s love triangles. So, let’s not waste any more...

Sometimes it can take years for a movie to truly catch on, and that has proven to be the case with the 2004 comedy White Chicks, directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans, and starring Marlon and Shawn Wayans, better known as the Wayans Brothers. The film was a moderate hit upon release and wasn't embraced by critics as it carries a less than stellar 15% Rotten Tomatoes score. Despite the critical response, the film has since been regarded as a cult classic, with many fans demanding a sequel. As they wait for news of a follow-up, White Chicks has found success once again by becoming a hit on streaming.
White Chicks is currently streaming on Max and is currently ranked ninth in their top ten movies. The movie is ahead of the James Franco comedy Why Him and behind a wide range of efforts from films that are great, such as End of Watch...

Women of a certain age are like a good bottle of wine—they just get better with time. This is almost the perfect way to describe Girls5eva—a show that proves women in their 40s still have plenty of rhythm, sass, and heart to make the music industry take notice, even after their big hits have faded into the annals of pop culture history. Created by Meredith Scardino and executive produced by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, Girls5eva is an amazing ride through nostalgia, irreverence, and hilarity, all wrapped up in infectious pop anthems.

We’ve watched the hilarious and endearing quartet of former girl group members—Dawn, Wickie, Summer, and Gloria—reignite their dreams of stardom while battling personal struggles, fractured friendships, and the weight of a past that refuses to let them go. But, as with any musical comeback, not all seasons are created equal.

Speaking with Good Morning America, Wayans revealed that, following the release of another of the Wayans’ highly anticipated comedy sequels, Scary Movie 6, they will start work on White Chicks 2, with the actor, comedian, writer, and producer saying, “it’s time.”

Released in 2004, White Chicks may be the most controversial of any movie made by the Wayans family. There has been some debate over whether a film with its concept could be made today, but Marlon Wayans is hinting that a sequel will soon be made.
In previous years, Wayans has expressed his desire to see White Chicks 2 happen, but the potential sequel has never managed to get off the ground. Now, the odds of the sequel happening may increase exponentially if the upcoming Scary Movie sequel turns out to be a hit with filmgoers. The Wayans Brothers are reuniting to develop Scary Movie 6, and Marlon shared with Good Morning America that he's looking to finally get work on White Chicks 2 started as their next potential project.

Situational comedies, or sitcoms, have been around since the earliest days of television. These programs center on a small cast of characters who are faced with a new set of problematic circumstances every week and must come up with some way to solve them. The genre has spawned countless shows over the decades, many failing to make it past their first season and others producing hundreds of episodes.
Given the nature of sitcoms, it can be extremely difficult for a show to maintain its quality season after season. After all, there are only so many situations its characters can stumble into before the problems start to feel repetitive, and the characters become frustratingly static. Another common problem with sitcoms is a slow start. Writers and actors often need time to work out the best dynamics for their characters. There are a few exceptions: shows that break onto the scene at...

Julie Bowen entertained fans on Modern Family for 11 long years. While her onscreen persona often came off as a strict parent, her real personality couldn’t be farther from it. Fans are aware of the actress’ terrific humor and warm-heartedness that has shone through her in various interviews.

Hulu continues to cancel fan-favorite shows before they can become mainstream successes, and their latest cancellation is no different. How to Die Alone, created by and starring Sonic the Hedgehog scene-stealer Natasha Rothwell, has been canceled by the streaming service after just one season on the platform. Although critics adored the comedy, with reviews earning it a 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes, it seems Hulu did not find enough reason to greenlight another set of episodes for How to Die Alone.
On Tuesday, Hulu officially declined to renew How to Die Alone (via Deadline) for another season. It's unclear why the streamer decided to not move forward with more episodes, but it would not be the first time Hulu prematurely ended a show's lifespan. Rothwell, series creator and star, released a statement about the surprising news, expressing her shock and disappointment. Her words:

Be they a comic book antihero, supernatural vigilante, troubled teen, or male ingenue in a daytime soap, nobody plays these characters quite like actor Jensen Ackles. The television star has enjoyed a career at the forefront of some of the most popular genre projects in TV history, thanks in large part to his hard-earned professional relationships with The CW and producer Eric Kripke.

The best Chad Michael Murray movies and TV shows include a mix of young adult releases, and in recent years, more adult drama fare. Murray got his start as an actor after he graduated from high school and won a modeling scholarship, which helped him pick up an agent. He moved to California and quickly earned a role in the MTV drama series Undressed. This helped lead to his breakout role on The Gilmore Girls as Tristin DuGray.
After another recurring role in Dawson’s Creek, Murray’s popularity exploded when he grabbed one of the leading roles in One Tree Hill. This also led to several film roles, mostly in young adult movies like Freaky Friday and A Cinderella Story. He hasn’t slowed down since aging out of many of those young adult releases, earning some great roles in movies like Fruitvale Station and TV shows like Marvel’s Agent Carter and Sullivan’s Crossing.

Girls5Eva stands out among other current comedies because of the clever dialogue and absurd humor. The sitcom follows the members of a ‘90s girl group trying to reignite their careers. Pop singer Sara Bareilles stars as Dawn, a working mom who steps up to be the leader of the group. The other girl group members are ditzy influencer Summer (Busy Philipps), divorced dentist Gloria (Paula Pell), and the deeply ambitious Wickie (Renée Elise Goldsberry). Over the show’s three seasons, each of the women in the main cast gets a strong story about finding themselves through songwriting and touring. The latest season featured the usual excellent joke writing and strong character moments, but the finale felt rushed and left things unresolved. Now that Netflix has cancelled it, it’s a shame to think that one of the best sitcoms of the 2020s won’t get a proper ending.

Jason Segel recently recalled the audition process for the Paul Feig-created NBC teen dramedy, which ran from 1999 to 2000 with EP Judd Apatow, featuring himself as aimless drummer Nick Andopolis, the eventual boyfriend of Linda Cardellini‘s overachiever Lindsay Weir.
“I was brought in for a callback with James Franco, and we were, as far as we knew, competing for the same part, because at the time, there was only one of those characters,” he told GQ. “Daniel and Nick were just one character at the time. So we went in and we auditioned against each other. They liked us both, and they split the part, and he became the cool one, and I became the goofy one.”
Segel added, “I always felt like Nick was a lot like me.

We're at the end of 2024, and you know what that means. It's time to look back at what all happened this year. We'll start off by saying that it's been a rollercoaster of a year for many of the streaming services, especially Netflix. While there were many renewals from the streamer, there were also some cancellations.
This year, the streaming powerhouse pulled the plug on 17 of its original series, and there's even a chance there will be more cancellations since 2024 isn't quite over yet. Obviously, a show getting canceled is never a good thing, and it sucks for the people who were hoping for additional installments. However, there's one Netflix show that got the boot this year that we're not exactly sad about.
In this article, we shared all the Netflix show cancellations from this year as well as discussed why we weren't necessarily hurt by one of the shows being axed.

Given the sheer volume of new shows released each month, it's unfortunately natural for some shows to slip through the cracks completely or fade away after having a minor moment. After one show pops, there's another one ready to take its place the next month — or even week!
Sometimes the circle of television life isn't kind to shows that should be much more popular and/or successful, and they remain underrated until they either build a cult following, fizzle out, or get canceled far too soon. The past year wasn't without its long list of shows that deserved more love.
It's no secret that 2024 was a huge year for television, on both the small screen and streaming. There were huge hits like Baby Reindeer, Presumed Innocent, Industry, Shōgun, House of the Dragon, High Potential, The Penguin, and so many shows that had everyone watching and talking.

The reunion tour has come to an end. After Netflix saved Girls5Eva following its first cancelation at Peacock, the series has been axed for a second time at its new streaming home – despite garnering a perfect score for its third season.
Per Variety, it's been revealed that Girls5Eva has been canceled at Netflix. Originally, the series was a Peacock exclusive, debuting on the NBCUniversal streaming platform in 2021. When Peacock pulled the plug after two seasons, Netflix swooped in to save Girls5Eva, giving the musical comedy show a third season that debuted in March. While there were high hopes that the series would become even more popular with the move, given its critical acclaim, that was not the case. Series star Busy Phillips has speculated that underwhelming viewership is behind the second cancelation.

A saved Netflix comedy series has been cancelled again after season 3, after the show was originally saved by the streamer in early 2024. For fans, it was another great savior moment by the streamer, and it looked like the future of the series was secure for at least a couple of seasons. There will be no season four for Girls5Eva: Netflix has canceled the comedy after its first season on the platform and third overall.
The cancellation marks the end for Girls5Eva after it got a second life on Netflix. The show, about a girl group that reunites 20-plus years after its only hit, ran for two seasons on Peacock before switching platforms for season three. The first two seasons stream on both platforms, while the now-final season is exclusive to Netflix.
Created by Meredith Scardino and executive produced by Tina Fey, the series stars Sara Bareilles, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Busy Philipps and Paula Pell as the members of the titular group. Philipps said on a recent episode of her podcast Busy Philipps Is Doing Her Best that the show is “dead. I’m just saying it because, fuck it. If Netflix won’t, I will. I guess not enough people...

Girls5eva has been canceled again, and this time by Netflix, Deadline has confirmed.
The musical comedy will not have a fourth season on the streamer, marking the second time the show has been canceled.
Girls5eva originally premiered on Peacock in 2021. The show got a second season in 2022 but was dropped by the NBCUniversal streamer after two seasons before Netflix rescued it for a third season.
Season 3 of the comedy premiered in March 2024.
Netflix’s confirmation that Girls5eva was not moving forward with another season came after star Busy Philipps addressed the series’ future on her podcast.

“Girls5Eva” sang their last song (again).
The musical comedy series, starring Sara Bareilles, Paula Pell, Busy Philipps and Renée Elise Goldsberry, has been canceled after debuting its third season on Netflix. The streamer previously saved it from cancellation after Peacock axed the show after two seasons.
“Girs5Eva,” created by Meredith Scardino and executive produced by Tina Fey, Robert Carlock and Jeff Richmond, follows the members of a former girl group who decide to give their musical dreams one last shot. Only this time around, they have to contend with divorce, New York lonely boys and knee surgeries, as well as a whole new generation of young stars who are equally desperate for fame.
At the time of the Netflix renewal, the streamer also secured the rights to the first two seasons to give its audience the chance to catch up from the beginning. “There were a lot of friendly fans and faces over there.

B.P.E. no more. After three seasons, “Girls5Eva” has been canceled for the second time — this time, by Netflix.
The first two seasons of the musical comedy streamed on Peacock from 2021 to 2022; when Peacock decided not to move forward, Netflix came in to renew the series for a third season, which aired in March 2024.
Created by Meredith Scardino and produced by Tina Fey, the comedy followed a ’90s girls group that reunite and attempt to revive their careers after they get an unexpected second chance. Sara Bareilles, Busy Philipps, Paula Pell and Renée Elise Goldsberry starred in the series, which earned critical acclaim for its fast-paced humor and catchy, satiric original songs.
While many expected the show to take off on Netflix, it failed to do so. Variety TV Editor Michael Schneider recently dissected one potential reason, pointing to the title and noting that many who scroll through Netflix,...

There's some exciting news for comedy fans out of Netflix, but there's also some not-so-exciting news for comedy fans as well. It wouldn't be the end of the year if some difficult decisions weren't being made about the fates of our favorite shows.
First, the good news: Michael Schur's spy comedy starring Ted Danson has been renewed! A Man on the Inside season 2 was announced on Dec. 16, just under one month after its release on Nov. 21. The show received overwhelming critical acclaim and has enjoyed strong viewership ratings, debuting at the peak of Netflix's most popular English TV shows ranking.
In addition to its success, Danson earned a Golden Globe nomination for his performance as Charles Nieuwendyk, a retiree and widower who answers an advertisement to become a "man on the inside" for a private investigator. He infiltrates a retirement home to help catch a thief, but along the way,...

How should we face the future that's to come? If the TV shows that moved us in 2024 are any indication, the answer involves collective action, the preservation of hope and anger, and -- as shows like "Evil" and "English Teacher" effortlessly remind us -- the ability to laugh in the face of the absurd. It seems likely that the creators making our favorite shows didn't foresee some of this year's most dystopic global and national events, but their art speaks to a world in unprecedented chaos nonetheless. Whether you're more into the stalwart mottos of Starfleet, the unspoken camaraderie between the vulnerable women of Ennis, Alaska, or the "okey-dokey" attitude of Vault 33's best and brightest, the best television of 2024 offered a number of stirring solutions to the question we're all anxious to ask: how the hell do we get through this?...

Every great TV show delicately walks along the fine border of captivating its audience and losing them in the process, and some storylines go too far one way or the other. Sometimes writers double down on a plot that they hope can be compelling but ends up being bothersome. Even the best TV shows of all time can sometimes overrely on specific stories, to the detrement of their overarching appeal.
From stereotypical personalities in Young Sheldon to repetitive tropes in The Bear season 4, it's not uncommon to see attempts at long-form storytelling take a wrong turn. However, too much of anything can be toxic, which can describe a number of TV shows over the years that lost momentum due to weak overarching plots that overstayed their welcome. Here are ten TV shows that took a storyline and ran it straight into the ground.

It's been a long year that went by in the blink of an eye, but in the midst of all 2024 had offer, there were so many great Netflix shows for us to binge. Some people like to focus on what we didn't get — new seasons of Stranger Things, Wednesday, You, etc. — but think of what we did get.
In 2024, Netflix ended many fan-favorite series, like The Umbrella Academy, Elite, and Vikings: Valhalla, and kicked off the final season of Cobra Kai. There were new seasons of beloved hit such as Bridgerton, Emily in Paris, and Outer Banks. And to top it all off, Netflix managed to release handfuls upon handfuls of new shows the world couldn't stop binge-watching.
While your picks for the best Netflix shows of 2024 might vary, here are four of our biggest highlights of the year, as well as a short list of more excellent picks!

There's definitely a sweet spot when it comes to how long a TV series should run. Some go on seemingly forever until they're shallow visages of what they used to be. Then, there are the shows that displayed a ton of promise in just a few episodes but got canceled for one reason or another. When it comes to the latter, you know exactly what we're talking about. Perhaps you were even part of a fan campaign to try to bring one of the following shows back on the air. Sadly, the whims of studio executives know no mercy, even when a show ends on a massive cliffhanger that'll no longer get any resolution.
These are the shows that broke all of our hearts. These series canceled after one season managed to get us invested so quickly, and now, we're left to wonder what might've been had more people tuned in initially.

Paul Feig’s Freaks and Geeks might have been short-lived, but to date, fans cannot get over it. The teen dramedy, set in a suburban Detroit high school, followed siblings Lindsay and Sam Weir played by Linda Cardellini and John Francis Daley as they navigated their way through two very different cliques, the “freaks” and the “geeks.”

With stars like Seth Rogen, James Franco, Jason Segel, Busy Philipps, Samm Levine, and Martin Starr, the show brought humor, heart, and authenticity to teenage life. Despite critical acclaim and a devoted fanbase, NBC canceled the series after airing only 12 of its 18 episodes, citing low ratings. Over time, Freaks and Geeks earned cult status as one of the best TV shows ever.

It's hard to believe it's been 25 years since Freaks and Geeks aired on NBC. The show featured a fantastic cast, touching, realistic writing, terrific music, and an almost unforgivable short run.
Many of the young cast members went on to have excellent careers despite NBC's pitiful treatment of the show. Stars like James Franco, Linda Cardellini, Seth Rogen, Jason Segel, Busy Phillips, John Francis Daly, and Martin Star have all enjoyed robust careers in Hollywood. Shia Labeouf, Rashida Jones, Lizzy Caplan, JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Ben Foster, Amy Aquino, Samaire Armstrong, Stephanie Erb, Leslie Mann, Kevin Corrigan, David Krumholtz, Jason Schwartzman, Matt Czuchy, and Mike White are just some of the talent that appeared in the shows all too brief run.

A trickle is becoming a flood for Bluesky, the social media company that has seen spectacular growth since the presidential election. On Tuesday, the microblogging platform hit 20 million users, after averaging 1 million new users per day over the past five days.
According to a Nov. 13 post by Bluesky CEO Jay Graber, the site had 6 million users in late August, nearly 11 million in late October and hit 15 million users on Nov. 15. It added another 5 million users in just five days, with the explosive growth seen since Nov. 5, the day of the election, accelerating.

20 years after the original film, a musical movie adaptation of Mean Girls was released, providing a new twist to the 2004 classic and making some ending changes. Mean Girls was first adapted into a popular musical for the Broadway stage in 2017. This has translated into positive reviews for the Mean Girls musical film due to the fun musical numbers, popular source material, and strong performances. Hilarie Burton didnt start out in the entertainment industry as an actor. Instead, she got her start on MTV as a VJ, or video jockey, a play on radion DJs for the network. Burton was known for being an MTV correspondent at special events, talking to the Real World cast members, and appearing on music countdown shows. That changed when she got her big break thanks to One Tree Hill in 2003.
Though Burton has continued acting in the 20+ years since, shes also worked behind the camera as a producer, appeared on podcasts, and even written a book. Shes embraced her creativity in several different fields. The funniest White Chicks quotes highlight why it's remembered as one of the most outrageous comedies of the 2000s. Co-written by and starring the Wayans brothers, 2004's White Chicks is about two Black male cops named Kevin (Shawn Wayans) and Marcus (Marlon Wayans) who must adopt the personas of two upper-middle-class white women to go undercover and solve a kidnapping. While this film faced negative reviews, it achieved cult classic status for its over-the-top humor and hilarious performances from the Wayans. Nearly two decades after the film first hit theaters, White Chicks quotes remain part of pop culture, with some attaining immortality through memes and viral short clips.
For some, White Chicks exemplifies the idea of a movie being so bad that it's good. Combined with the absurdity of Kevin and Marcus convincing everyone that they're the Wilson sisters, their dedication to their disguises resulted in two of the most...

On Monday, Variety unveiled its inaugural Content Meets Commerce Summit, presented by Kinesso, bringing together thought leaders to explore the dynamic fusion of entertainment and commerce. The half-day event sparked lively discussions about how cutting-edge product placement in digital content is not just catching viewers’ attention but actively driving their purchasing decisions.
The event began with a keynote conversation on the quickly evolving consumer audience patterns with Busy Philipps, who is the host and co-executive producer of the QVC+ late-night talk show “Busy This Week” alongside Stacie Tedesco, VP of streaming at Qurate Retail Group. This was followed by an expert panel: “Is it Retail or is it Commerce?” discussing the differences in digital vs. physical spending economies and the specific strategies used to succeed in both.
