When American reality television expanded beyond singing talent shows, one of the series at the forefront was America's Next Top Model. Taking the format of a competition series with the niche of professional modeling, Antm was groundbreaking. Easily one of the most important reality television shows of the 2000s, viewers were given an inside look at the cutthroat world of print and runway modeling through the lens of a high-stakes competition. With Tyra Banks at the helm, the series doubled down on image, at first. But over the years, Antm became that show that broke the rules. It expanded beyond the common tropes of beauty standards, it showcased the reality of the diverse world of modeling, and eventually demanded the contestants feature inclusion based on gender and body type.

As the wise Tyra Banks once said, "I was rooting for you! We were all rooting for you!" Stacey Rusch almost departed The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 9 as the breakout star of Season 9 of the reality series. Nearly unscathed, save for some dog poo, Stacey Rusch had one of the best freshman season's. And then the reunion came along and everything turned. Breakups are never easy, but apparently her split with her "close friend" Thomas Anthony "Tj" Joneswas anything but amicable. Whether he was hungry for more camera time or simply bitter, Tj Jones knew his time as a Bravolebrity was coming to an end, so he was ready to tear down Stacey with him.

Tyra Banks isn’t here for people coming for her America’s Next Top Model legacy.
The reality TV show burst onto the scene in 2003, with Tyra using her modeling skills to find fresh faces for the runway.
America’s Next Top Model ran for 22 seasons on The CW before moving to VH1 for the final two seasons.
Tyra not only created Antm, but she hosted the show for 21 seasons, with Rita Ora stepping in to help refresh the series on VH1.
In recent years, clips of Tyra being overly harsh and insensitive have surfaced as former contestants call out her treatment of them.
One example was Tyra telling a contestant, in a mean and mocking way, how she would never get a “covergirl” contract because of the gap in her teeth.

Tyra Banks owned up to some controversies surrounding her hit reality series America’s Next Top Model.
The 51-year-old supermodel launched the show in 2003. It ran for 24 seasons with Tyra serving as the main judge for all but one.
In 2020, the show went through a reckoning online with some viewers calling out troubling moments, including a photoshoot where contestants had their skin darkened to appear “biracial.”
Although Tyra acknowledged that the show sometimes got it wrong, she also praised it for breaking ground.

Tyra Banks didn’t always “get it right” on “America’s Next Top Model,” she told attendees at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards, adding: “I said some dumb s–t.”
Banks was the event’s first Luminary Spotlight honoree on Feb. 27.
“Over 20 years ago I created a show called ‘America’s Next Top Model’,” she began her speech. “And you guys have no idea how hard we fought to bring the diversity to that television show at a time when it didn’t exist; to show different beauties at a time when the world was like, ‘What? You casting that?’ A time when people in the fashion industry were telling me, ‘You putting the girls from the hood on your show?”
“I was like, ‘Why can the girl from the trailer park become a supermodel but the girl that’s chilin’ in the park in the hood can’t?’” she added.

A whole lot of celebrities will continue bluffing their way through trivia questions on CBS. The network has renewed Hollywood Squares for a second season. The series' first season is still airing.
A game show revival, the Hollywood Squares series is based on the series hosted by Peter Marshall and debuted in 1966. Nate Burleson hosts this incarnation. In the game, two contestants play tic-tac-toe to win money and prizes. The “board” for the game is a vertical stack of nine open-faced cubes, each occupied by a celebrity. The celebrities are asked questions, and the contestants judge the legitimacy of their answers to win the game. Drew Barrymore occupies the famed “center square” throughout the season. Celebrities occupying other squares include Tyra Banks, Julie Bowen, Yvette Nicole Brown, Whitney Cummings, Akbar Gbajabiamila, Tiffany Haddish, Oliver Hudson, Pete Holmes,...

It seems inconceivable that Steve Harvey would ever retire from his gig as host of Family Feud.
Yet, if reports are to be believed, if he doesn’t rein in his behavior with contestants, he might see himself pushed out the door, whether he likes it or not.
While Steve’s hosting style has always been outlandish, producers are supposedly “concerned” that his behavior is crossing lines that even his charm can’t come back from.

So get this. It’s nearly 5 p.m. Thursday afternoon and I, Academy Award winner Travon Free, am sitting in front of my TV with the Academy Screening Room app open, browsing this year’s nominees. I’ve seen pretty much everything nominated at least once, but there’s a documentary or two I still need to check off my list.
Then, a text appears from my buddy Jason.
“So, are you guys going to have to make a statement about this?”
Oh no. Statements are only required when someone does something bad, and I’ve yet to make a film with Blake Lively or Justin Baldoni, so I can’t imagine why I’d need to make one. After nervously asking “What for?”, he sends me one of the many screenshots of Karla Sofía Gascón’s old, resurfaced tweets, currently in circulation. In this particular Twitter-bullet to the Emilia Pérez Oscars campaign,...

Vin Diesel recently announced that the final scenes of Fast X: Part 2 will be filmed in Los Angeles, marking a return to the city where the franchise first began 25 years ago. On social media, Diesel said the move is a way to support the city’s economy, which has been struggling after massive wildfires caused widespread damage.
Jordana Brewster, Diesel’s co-star in the franchise, urged him to push Universal to relocate the production to LA. According to Diesel, she emphasized that the city ‘needs it now more than ever.’ Universal has not yet commented on the decision.
The first Fast and Furious movie focused on LA’s street racing culture, but over the years, the series has expanded to shoot in locations like Tokyo, Rio, London, and Havana. Now, with wildfires continuing to cause destruction in Los Angeles, the decision to return feels particularly meaningful.

Vin Diesel announced that “Fast X: Part 2” will finish shooting in Los Angeles, the city that provided the setting for the first film in the long-running franchise, as a way to bolster a local economy that’s been hit hard by devastating wildfires.
“Los Angeles is where Fast and Furious started filming 25 years ago… and now Fast will finally return home,” Diesel declared on social media.
On Instagram, Diesel said that Jordana Brewster, his co-star in the series, reached out to him and urged him to press Universal to move the rest of the filming to Los Angeles, saying that the city “needs it now more than ever.” It’s unclear how much more of “Fast X: Part 2” is left to shoot. The film does not currently have a release date.

Hollywood Squares fans are slamming the game show reboot as an “epic fail.” The show premiered on Thursday, January 16th, a week later than anticipated. Unfortunately, those who had high expectations for the revival were less than thrilled with the outcome. Keep reading for more details on what they had to say.
Hollywood Squares Reboot Slammed As ‘Epic Fail’
Rebooted game shows can be hit or miss. Some do not even get a reboot but rather the torch gets passed. Such was the case with Drew Carey on The Price is Right who took over when Bob Barker retired. Let’s Make a Deal has been in the same boat and faced revival status but viewers have appreciated what Wayne Brady has brought to the table. Then, there are true rebooted game shows such as Press Your Luck. It was a hit in the eighties but Elizabeth Banks brought it...

Some Hollywood Squares viewers expressed disapproval of the rebooted game show.
It officially premiered on Thursday. It features the classic format: a nine-by-nine grid of large squares that creates a giant tic-tac-toe board.
Inside each of those squares is a celebrity, with many of them comedians or actors.
Actress and daytime talk show host Drew Barrymore is the current resident of the famed center square.
The show also has a new host, with former NFL star and CBS Mornings host Nate Burleson following in the footsteps of Tom Bergeron, John Davidson, and Peter Marshall.
While some fans seemed to love the game show and Nate as the host, not all viewers seemed enthused by the rest of the Hollywood Squares cast.

CBS is dusting off the tic-tac-toe board and stuffing those open-faced cubes with a new batch of celebrities, hoping to recapture the magic of the original. Will it work? Who can say? 2024 felt like a rebuilding year for television, as contraction across Hollywood and delays from the historic Hollywood strikes wreaked havoc on programming schedules across the board. But we still got some standout series, including the return of “House of the Dragon,” Netflix’s surprise breakout “Baby Reindeer” and more.
But 2025 brings with it a more stable slate for all the biggest power players across streaming, broadcast and cable, one that aims to appeal to wider audiences and grapple with the new economic realities of the entertainment industry. TV lovers can expect big productions though, including long-anticipated returns for shows like Apple TV+’s “Severance,” HBO’s “The White Lotus” and Netflix’s “Stranger Things” and “Wednesday.” Established IP will also get its fair share of spinoffs, including the “Game of Thrones” side quest “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” NBC’s “Suits LA” and Marvel’s anticipated “Daredevil: Born Again” quasi-revival on Disney+.

Molly O'Connell is one of the newest cast members to join Season 10 of Southern Charm. In the first episode, viewers learn that she's close friends with Madison LeCroy, who introduced her as, "She's funny, and she's weird in a good way." She had a sexting relationship with Craig Conover, and has a crush on the much-older Whitney Sudler-Smith.
The Charleston native is also a model, and she was the runner-up in Cycle 16 of America's Next Top Model. Her season saw her having an incredibly drastic hair makeover that she, thankfully, pokes fun of to this day. However, Molly truly believes that she could have won the entire competition if not for Tyra Banks giving her yet another over-the-top hair change.

One of the most iconic reality TV competitions of the early 2000s was none other than America's Next Top Model. The modeling competition was created by Tyra Banks as a way to train promising young women who were interested in becoming supermodels.
The show originally began in 2003 and aired for a whopping 24 seasons until finally coming to a close in late 2015. However, Tyra recently shared that fans of the since-defunct show might have a renewal to look forward to in the future.

Vice recently released The Shocking Truth About America's Next Top Model as part of their Dark Side of Reality TV series. In the documentary, previous contestants of Tyra Banks' controversial modeling contest opened up about their horrible experiences on the show. Having watched Antm as a child through my teens, I'd say Tyra may have been projecting her traumatic modeling experiences onto the contestants.
The supermodel—who was sued for alleged abusive conduct on America's Got Talent—has been open about facing many rejections in the industry, which she even pinned on a clueless Naomi Campbell in 2005. There have also been related statements from a former judge reportedly fired by Tyra, regarding her behavior on the show.
Here are the parallels between Tyra's career and the challenges she imposed on Antm contestants.
