It's considered something of a footnote now, but Robin Williams' last TV credit before his death was for "The Crazy Ones," a David E. Kelley-created single-camera sitcom that aired from September 2013 to April 2014. "The Crazy Ones" was notable in that it was Williams' first time headlining a TV series since the broadcast of "Mork and Mindy" (with Pam Dawber) over three decades earlier. Williams had spent the bulk of his career working in standup or starring in movies, often gaining a great deal of acclaim for his performances. He was nominated for Oscars for "Good Morning, Vietnam," "Dead Poets Society," and "The Fisher King" before finally winning for his very generous turn in "Good Will Hunting." His comedy albums also won him multiple Grammys, while his standup specials netted him two Emmys.
Williams would happily have made a joke about how he is not an Egot, but a mere Ego.

Sylvester Stallone's "Judge Dredd" is not remembered as one of the best sci-fi movies ever, to say the least. Lambasted by critics and disliked by audiences, the 1995 film earned a disappointing $113.5 million at the global box office against a $90 million budget and remains conspicuously absent from lists of Stallone's finest films.
To his credit, Stallone hasn't attempted to bury his futuristic flop. Instead, he's been known to discuss the film when the opportunity calls for it. In 2006, the star addressed some of the issues "Judge Dredd" had while answering fan questions for Ain't It Cool News:
"I think, from what I recall, the whole project was troubled from the beginning. The philosophy of the film was not set in stone – by that I mean 'Is this going to be a serious drama or with comic overtones' like other science fiction films that were successful? So a lotta pieces just didn't fit smoothly.

Batman movies have The Joker, the Scream franchise has Ghostface, and documentaries have… Woody Allen?
The disgraced comedian and filmmaker was the subject of the 2021 HBO docuseries Allen v Farrow, which re-examined the 1992 criminal investigation that was launched in response to allegations that Allen molested his daughter, Dylan Farrow. Now Allen has popped up in another doc, and, yet again, his role is that of an antagonist.
Hitting theaters in the U.K. this week is Twiggy, a new documentary from director Sadie Frost all about English model and “‘60s fashion icon” Twiggy, aka Dame Lesley Lawson.
Of course, the film covers Twiggy’s 1967 trip to New York City when she was just 17. She was accompanied by her manager/boyfriend who was 10 years older, and who, according to The Guardian, “became an oppressive and unfaithful controlling figure.” But clearly whoever put together this cheery newsreel footage at the time seemed...

Can Adrien Brody ever truly own his Oscar?(Photo Credit – theacademy/Instagram)
Adrien Brody may have claimed the Best Actor title at this year’s Oscars, but the golden trophy in his hands? That doesn’t technically belong to him.
Of course, that won’t stop The Brutalist star from proudly displaying it on his mantle, at least for now. After a fierce competition against Timothée Chalamet (A Complete Unknown), Colman Domingo (Sing Sing), Sebastian Stan (The Apprentice), and Ralph Fiennes (Conclave), Brody emerged victorious for his portrayal of László Tóth, an architect striving to rebuild his life in America.
Adrien Brody takes extra time to call out Jew-hate and racism while accepting his second Oscar for Best Actor.
He also deserves the award for Best Humanity at the Oscars.
Thank you, Adrien.

A few fun facts about Oscar statuettes:
The award is 13-and-a-half inches tall, and the award, overall, weighs about eight-and-a-half pounds. The statues are made of solid bronze and are plated in real gold. During metal shortages during World War II, the Oscars were made out of painted plaster, although winners were permitted to swap them for bronze ones once the materials were plentiful again.
It's been said that handing an Oscar too much can make the gold tarnish, so Oscar winners have to be careful with them. The statuettes are made by an art foundry in Chicago called Polich Tallix, the same firm that handled the work of Roy Lichtenstein, and the Korean War Memorial in Washington, D.C.
The statuettes also, technically, don't belong to the voters or to the people who win them. Indeed, starting in 1951, the Motion Picture Academy introduced a new rule forbidding recipients from...

Former CIA officer John Kiriakou has given a high accuracy score to Dev Patel's true story movie about the 2008 Mumbai attacks, which came out in 2019. Patel's best movies see him in thrilling roles, portraying captivating characters that are highly unique depending on the story he's contributing to. This includes everything from his theatrical debut in 2008's Slumdog Millionaire, to his first directorial movie as the lead character in 2024's Monkey Man. His performances are often memorable thanks to the way he commands the screen whenever he's front-and-center.
Beyond original stories for the big screen, Patel has also starred in multiple adaptations of existing works. This includes 2019's The Personal History of David Copperfield, where he played the title character, and 2021's The Green Knight, where he was the Arthurian knight Gawain. Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" was first published in 1843. It was an instant success, quickly and deeply branding itself into the British consciousness. The story became widely spread, and soon other enterprising authors were eager to jump on Dickens' coattails; as early as 1844, "A Christmas Carol" was adapted to the stage no less than three times. After Dickens himself finished writing "David Copperfield" in 1853, he began giving live readings of a truncated version of his tale. He then proceeded to read the story for live, paying audiences every year for the next 17 years.
The story of "A Christmas Carol" follows a wealthy miser named Ebenezer Scrooge who ... Wait, what am I doing? You know the story of "A Christmas Carol." It's one of the most famous, enduring, and otherwise repeated stories in the history of Western literature.

The Best Picture Oscar nominees of 1936 contained a few stone-cold classics and a large handful of duds. The Academy nominated 10 films for Best Picture that year, with the top honor going to Robert Z. Leonard's three-hour glitzy musical biopic "The Great Ziegfeld". "The Great Ziegfeld" is visually spectacular but kind of mushy as a melodrama, serving more as a fond farewell to its subject (who died in 1932) than a legitimately great film.
The legit bangers nominated that year included Frank Capra's "Mr. Deeds Goes to Town," one of the master director's more notable comedies. Also pretty good were William Dieterle's "The Story of Lois Pasteur" starring Paul Muni, and Jack Conway's delightful screwball film "Libeled Lady" with Powell and Myrna Loy. Conway also directed a serviceable adaptation of "A Tale of Two Cities," which many readers may have watched in their junior high school classrooms.

Only Fools and Horses, the legendary British sitcom created by John Sullivan, remains a timeless comedy gem. First hitting screens in 1981, it revolves around the Trotter brothers, Del Boy and Rodney, as they chase dreams of striking it rich through hilariously ill-fated schemes. Living in Peckham, South London, the duo operates their market trading business out of a beaten-up yellow Reliant Regal three-wheeler van.
Del Boy, the older sibling, is a cheeky, quick-witted wheeler-dealer with grand ideas of becoming a millionaire. Rodney, on the other hand, is more level-headed and forever frustrated by his brother’s far-fetched plans.

The show isn’t just about laughs, it’s about family, friendship, and everyday struggles. Alongside Del and Rodney are unforgettable characters like their Grandad, and quirky friends including Trigger, Boycie, and Denzil. From slapstick comedy moments to touching emotional scenes, the series beautifully balanced humor and heart.

If there's something Harry Potter fans unanimously agree on, it's that the original cast was perfect. They also agree there was no one but Daniel Radcliffe who could've played the titular role, despite his appearance differences from the famous wizard. However, Radcliffe almost didn't get the role, to the detriment of more successful American actors.
Daniel Radcliffe was 11 years old when Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone started filming in September 2000, the same age as his character. The English actor had only one acting credit to his name at that time, having played a young version of David Copperfield in the same-titled BBC limited series. While he did score the titular role in Harry Potter, the original casting director for the first film, Susan Figgis, told Deadline Radcliffe wasn't the first choice and Chris Columbus wanted an actor with more achievements.

Morfydd Clark is best known for playing Galadriel in Prime Video's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, but she has a wide range of other movie and television roles under her belt as well. While Rings of Power has received a mixed reception since its 2022 debut, Clark's performance is one of the series' consistent highlights throughout seasons 1 and 2. Instead of trying to mimic Cate Blanchett's movie performance, Clark provides her own distinct take on the character.

The legions of Harry Potter fans worldwide are still in mourning after the passing of acting legend Dame Maggie Smith, who played Professor Minerva McGonagall in seven Harry Potter films. Tributes from her past co-stars have been pouring in, but perhaps the most touching was seen outside Hogwarts Castle at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.
Dame Maggie Smith passed away on Sept. 27 at 89, and many of her past colleagues have put forth some loving tributes. However, one of the more beautiful moments honoring the late actress was captured by the social media user, Adventuring with Annie, which showed a large group of people standing outside Hogwarts Castle at Universal Studios in Orlando, holding up their wands in a symbolic salute to Smith. The raising of the wands seen in the video evokes the imagery of the emotional send-off seen in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince after the death of Professor Albus Dumbledore.

Updated with the latest: Several Harry Potter cast members have paid tribute today to their costar Maggie Smith, who died this morning at 89.
“The first time I met Maggie Smith I was 9 years old and we were reading through scenes for David Copperfield, which was my first job,” Daniel Radcliffe said in a statement to the press today. “I knew virtually nothing about her other than that my parents were awestruck at the fact that I would be working with her.
The two actors actually met on a job prior to the Potter franchise, when both were cast in a 1999 BBC adaptation of David Copperfield. Radcliffe played the young Copperfield, and Smith his great-aunt Betsey Trotwood.

Harry Potter veteran Daniel Radcliffe reflects on his relationship with Dame Maggie Smith, who passed away today at the age of 89. The two are commonly known as working together on the movie franchise based on J.K. Rowlings books. The franchise performed well, with every film earning the Certified Fresh accolade on Rotten Tomatoes and, if the Fantastic Beasts films are counted, grossed $9.5 billion at the global box office. The two have seen success inside the franchise, of course, but also outside, as Smith had an acclaimed career even before the franchise, earning two Oscars.

Ah, the Harry Potter franchise. It’s incredible how it’s still a mainstay in pop culture after all these years. The franchise continues to evolve beyond the annual movie marathons and the HBO 20th Anniversary special.
In 2023, a major reboot was announced. A new TV series will adapt each of the seven books in detail and aim for a 2026 release. This new project reflects the ongoing influence and reinvention of the Wizarding World for new generations.

It’ll be intriguing to see how much further the Harry Potter series can go, especially with the upcoming reboot, and where the careers of its now-grown stars will lead.
The original actors, who delivered such compelling performances at a young age, left an indelible mark on the franchise.

I miss the good ol’ days of magic.
I suppose what I really miss is life’s simplicity; how the lack of options brought folks together. No time was wasted endlessly scrolling through various streaming apps to find the perfect viewing experience, just to abandon it all and stare at our respective devices. Back in my day, if there was an event on television, that’s what you were watching with your family. And magic specials were a huge part of my television-viewing youth. I remember scouring the TV Guide, and finding out that evening there would be a special magic event—whether it was David Copperfield, Lance Burton, Penn and Teller, or the various magicians featured on The World’s Greatest Magic. There was something so exciting about our family getting together to marvel at these gods among regular folk, the fascinating mix of entertainment and bewilderment—could these mentalists truly read minds?...

Can you imagine the wizarding universe without its most iconic character, Harry Potter? Well, according to filmmaker Chris Columbus, young Daniel Radcliffe almost didn’t make it into the film, since his parents were initially skeptical about the franchise. Eyed to become the world’s most famous wizard at the tender age of 10, Radcliffe was held back by his parents.

The good old-fashioned family adventure is a genre unto itself, and one worth celebrating when kid-friendly films as good as “Bookworm” open events like Fantasia Fest 2024.
Director Ant Timpson and writer Toby Harvard reunite for their second scrappy feature following the 2019 cult horror hit “Come to Daddy.” This time, they’ve cast repeat collaborator Elijah Wood as a low-rent American magician and an absentee dad who is suddenly conscripted back into parental service by an emergency overseas. For this crowd-pleasing comedy, the camera finds the former “Lord of the Rings” hero once again crawling the stunning landscapes of New Zealand — only here, Wood is part of a father-daughter odd couple and, acting opposite plucky kid hero Nell Fisher, he plays against Frodo-type as neither the short nor the brave one.

We bring together the Dark Lord and the Lady of the Light – aka. Charlie Vickers and Morfydd Clark – to talk stunts, orcs and Lego towers.
Neither Morfydd Clark nor Charlie Vickers knew precisely what they were getting into when they signed up for The Rings Of Power.
Of course, they understood it would be a huge production, telling a sprawling story set in the Second Age of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth. Likely culturally prominent, career-changing stuff, whether compared with Clark’s impressive work in indies like Saint Maud and The Personal History Of David Copperfield, or Vickers’ supporting roles in TV show Medici and Aussie comedy Palm Beach. The Property Brothers, Jonathan and Drew Scott, faced major financial failures before their TV success. Jonathan Scott's failed magician career led to bankruptcy after being scammed and losing everything. Despite early setbacks, Jonathan and Drew Scott became extremely rich and successful with their TV shows.
Since the Property Brothers have been wildly successful on TV for years, it sometimes seems like everything goes right for them. After all, Jonathan Scott is engaged to Zooey Deschanel, who enjoyed many years of success before fans began to question if she was a nepo baby.

Magician David Copperfield was recently accused of sexual misconduct by several women.
Copperfield’s net worth is an estimated $1 billion, and he is one of the most successful illusionists in the world. Three women alleged that Copperfield drugged them, rendering them unable to provide consent when Copperfield engaged in sexual activities with them. Three other women claimed that he groped them during his onstage performances. Others said his behavior was inappropriate, given their age difference and power imbalance.
In an interview with The Guardian, one woman claimed that she was picked from thousands on stage during a show she attended to be a part of Copperfield’s trick. After the show, one of Copperfield...
