"Hippos kill more people in Africa than any other animal" is one of those endlessly repeated cocktail party trivia bits, but we've never seen such a riveting real-world example in this (Sfw) video. Filmed on the Chobe River in Botswana by David Jackson, this clip shows one of the benign-looking semiaquatic beasts pursuing a speedboat with the intensity of a great white shark. Hippos are notoriously territorial, and this one apparently resented the intrusion of a Pangolin Photo Safari speedboat into its home. I thought American Media already owned the 37-year-old magazine devoted to soap operas. But it turns out that the company has just been operating it for the last year or so under license from Source Interlink Media. Source Interlink bought Soap Opera Digest in 2007 from Primedia, which bought it in 1991 from News Corp, which bought it in 1989 from Network Publishing Corp, which bought it in 1980 from co-founders Angela and Jerome Shapiro. American Media is just getting around to announcing the deal that it says closed on July 20, and took effect on June 1. Stephanie Sloane remains Editor-In-Chief and David Jackson the Group Publisher. “Soap Opera Digest is a very important strategic acquisition for [American Media] as it fits perfectly in the Celebrity & Entertainment Group,” CEO David Pecker says. The TromaDance film festival makes it into puberty with their 13th annual edition and you won’t want to miss where they’ve grown some hair on May 4-5 at Asbury Lanes in Asbury Park, New Jersey. Team Wilkins

A group of football fans from around the country got the chance of lifetime on Monday afternoon when they played at Wembley Stadium in front of their family and friends.

The two sides of 15 players were captained by ex-professionals Steve Claridge and Ray Parlour, and were managed by former Chelsea coach Ray Wilkins and England caretaker manager Stuart Pearce. The referee was Premier League official Mark Halsey.

As well as big names from the footballing world, radio presenters Chris Evans from the BBC and Ronnie Irani from TalkSport took to the field.

Before the game the players were led to the dressing rooms to change and receive a team talk from the managers. Then they walked out from the tunnel to line up for the national anthem and shake hands.

They have no morals in their dreams so they can do what they want, and they do. This includes murder, rape, theft and anything else they feel like doing. Why not, it’s only a dream right?

On Saturday night, he was joking, laughing, and chitchatting at the head table of the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner. Dapper in his tux, he looked like he didn't have a care in the world. On Sunday morning he slipped away to Andrews Air Force Base for his regular golf foursome. The round was abbreviated to nine holes by chilly, rainy weather, but that didn't stop him from practicing drives and spending four hours and 22 minutes outside the White House grounds.

The Weekend Update sketch star has written five years for Saturday Night Live, and but is not new to hosting gigs. Meyers headlined the ESPYs earlier this year. "Seth is very smart, very sharp and a very funny observer of the political scene, and we're looking forward to seeing him on April 30." Whca president David Jackson said of the writer. Hopefully he will be a bigger hit than host Jay Leno, who was said to have recycled much of his old material at the dinner event last year.

Comedian Seth Meyers will provide entertainment for the 2011 White House Correspondents' Association Dinner, having been scheduled to emcee the annual event. According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Saturday Night Live"'s head writer will join the ranks of such comics as Jay Leno, Stephen Colbert and Craig Ferguson in poking fun at the President in-person when he takes the stage on April 30 at the Washington D.C. Hilton. "Seth is very smart, very sharp and a very funny observer of the political scene, and we're looking forward to seeing him on April 30," said Whca president David Jackson. Reader David Jackson has taken us to task for reporting that Conan O'Brien willingly wasted NBC's money in the final wee of his show by spending it on frivolous skits. For the record, it was quite apparent that most of his claims were indeed obviously jokes (no one believed he spent millions just to set up a sight gag). However, a couple of "expenses" were reported in the mainstream media as being legitimate, such as paying extravagant licensing costs to play Beatles music. Turns out even that was bogus, we're happy to say. Mr. Jackson points out that NBC has disputed O'Brien's claims that any segment of his show went beyond the normal budget. We're quite glad to hear that. We've always liked O'Brien and feel he was treated badly in the NBC debacle. Our biggest beef was having him ask viewers to donate to Haiti relief while he may...

Australian filmmaker Brett Anstey got in touch to let us know about his new chiller Damned By Dawn, and sent along a handful of exclusive photos; you can see them below the cut. Currently in the final stages of postproduction, the movie was produced by Anstey and Luke Gibson.

“The film centers on a banshee whose wailing wakes the dead,” Anstey tells us; specifically, it raises walking corpses during a thunderstorm, and the creatures terrorize a family. “The original idea was to make a period horror, one heavily influenced by the classic Hammer films,” he continues. “But it soon became apparent we couldn’t afford Christopher Lee, Ingrid Pitt, horse-drawn carriages and boobs. Fog, atmosphere and heavy doses of Irish mythology were all within our budget, though, so those elements remain.”

Ernest Borgnine has signed to star in Hallmark Channel's telefilm "The Wishing Well," which marks the 200th movie of his career.

Jordan Ladd and Sally Kellerman also will star in the movie about a reporter (Ladd) sent to Slow Creek, Ill., to write a fluff piece on the local wishing well, which ends up having an impact on her life. Borgnine plays a local innkeeper and Kellerman a waitress/unofficial town therapist.

David Jackson is directing the movie, premiering in September, from a script by Steven H. Berman. Larry Levinson is executive producing; Brian Gordon and Susan McGuire are producing.

Borgnine earned a Golden Globe nom this year for his role in the Hallmark movie "A Grandpa for Christmas."...
