Mark Wahlberg is a veteran actor (and an all-time legend) who has a plethora of movies and projects to his name. From movies that failed to movies that succeeded expectations, Wahlberg has done it all.
Mark Wahlberg and Jeff Goldblum in Jimmy Kimmel Live | Credits: ABC
Although the actor had a rickety start in Hollywood, Wahlberg never backed down from a challenge. The actor is also a gym freak and was covered in tattoos at a certain point in life.
Mark Wahlberg Had To Do One of the Toughest Things For Hollywood
As mentioned earlier, Wahlberg’s back, front, and, arms were covered in various tattoos that the actor had gotten over the years. This meant that whenever there was a shirtless scene, Wahlberg’s tattoos had to be covered with makeup.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery? Easy to say until you’re the one Saturday Night Live is mocking.
What happens when SNL impressionists are forced to reckon with the consequences of their comedy? Lucky for the comics, most spoofed celebrities enjoy being in on the joke. But as you’ll see in these five examples, that isn’t always the case…
1 Jim Breuer and Joe Pesci
If you don’t count Goat Boy — and who does, really? — Joe Pesci was Breuer’s most popular character. Breuer played him nine times as host of the fictional Joe Pesci Show, portraying the actor as the Mafia goon he played in movies like Goodfellas.
“I grew up with some characters so I know that world exists,” Breuer explained on the Opie & Anthony Show. And when Pesci showed up for a cameo on SNL, he lived up to that reputation during a backstage visit with Breuer.

'Despicable Me' director Chris Renaud has ruled out a live-action Minions movie. The 57-year-old filmmaker and voice actor - who also voiced the Minions in the blockbuster Illumination franchise - insists the films should stay in the animated world.Asked if it's something he'd want to do, he told Film Hounds magazine: “God, I hope not. That’s my answer.“I mean if there were conversations like that, I haven’t been privy to them. But for me, what defines the world is that it is animated, and it allows us to get away with what we get away with. Like locking a minion in the vending machine, or you know, blowing up Gru (Steve Carell) when he attacks Vector (Jason Segel). These are really cartoon ideas, like what would have been in a Bugs Bunny cartoon.”Insisting it's his personal view, he added: “I think it just...

Comedian Jeff Ross thinks roasting can help heal our world, and Netflix’s “The Roast of Tom Brady” was a huge step in the right direction.
“I live in Roast world,” Ross, an executive producer on the special, says. “But I think the rest of the world is getting back in touch with their sense of humor and leaving politics out of it — which was a mission of mine, to make it as inclusive and fun so people could let loose. I think that helped. It was a break for the fans.”
The Brady special was the biggest project Ross, who has been doing roasts since 1995 at the Friars Club and eventually brought them to television as specials on Comedy Central, has ever helped to assemble.
He had been discussing the idea with the champion quarterback, who is also an executive producer on the project, for three years, and the...

Nicolas Cage has been set to take on the role of the NFL’s John Madden in David O. Russell’s biopic on the sports icon.
Written, directed and produced by Russell, there had been reports that Will Ferrell and Hugh Jackman were eyed for the film before Cage was cast.
John Madden, who passed away in 2021 at the age of 85, was the robust and talkative head coach of the Oakland Raiders in the 1970s. He led the team to multiple championship games and secured its first Super Bowl victory. After retiring from coaching in 1979, he became a prominent figure in television football coverage, serving as a commentator for three decades. Nicolas Cage has officially been cast as late NFL coach, sports commentator, and video game pioneer John Madden in an upcoming biopic directed by David O. Russell.
The script for Madden was written by Russell, who worked off an earlier version from Cambron Clark. It will focus on Madden’s post-coaching career, during which he transcended football as the co-creator of EA Sports’ groundbreaking Madden NFL video game series, which launched in 1988.
The movie comes from Prime Sports Original feature film, with Todd Black (Southpaw) producing alongside Russell and Matthew Budman. Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch, and Jonathan Shukat will also produce for Escape Artists.
“Nicolas Cage, one of our greatest and most original actors, will portray the best of the American spirit of originality, fun, and determination in which anything is possible as beloved national legend John Madden,” Russell said in a statement. “Together with the ferocious style, focus, and inspired individualism of Al Davis,...

Exclusive: Actor-comedians Ramy Youssef (Ramy) and Hasan Minhaj (Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj) have boarded Mustache, the 2023 SXSW Audience Award winner from first-time feature filmmaker Imran J. Khan, as executive producers.

Minhaj is now involved in a dual capacity, as he also has a comedic supporting role in the film.
An homage to John Hughes coming-of-age films, ’90s nostalgia, and awkward teenage transitions, Mustache is a Northern California story revolving around 13-year-old Ilyas, a Pakistani American portrayed by new discovery Atharv Verma, whose world is turned upside down when his parents abruptly transfer him from his familiar Islamic private school to the challenges of public education.

Who’s to blame for the death of the R-rated movie comedy?
Vince Vaughn pointed a habañero-stained finger at scaredy-cat entertainment executives when he appeared on Hot Ones earlier this month. “They just overthink it,” he said between bites of earthy, peppery wings. “The people in charge don’t want to get fired more so than they’re looking to do something great. They want to follow a set of rules that somehow get set in stone that don’t really translate. But as long as they follow them, they’re not going to lose their job because they can say, ‘Well look, I crunched the numbers.’”

Exclusive: Vincent Kartheiser (Mad Men) and Laura Slade Wiggins (Shameless) have signed on to star alongside Landon Ashworth (Space Force) in Go On, a fantasy drama marking Ashworth’s feature directorial debut, which will enter production in New Mexico in September.
Marking Ashworth’s first produced feature screenplay, the film follows two strangers on a remote mountain, scorched by forest fires, as they help each other process baggage from their previous lives so they can transition to the afterlife. Ashworth crafted the screenplay after losing his very young cousin, Landon Bellm, to suicide.
“Having my feature film directorial debut be my own screenplay which addresses real, meaningful, and relatable issues is an honor,” Ashworth told Deadline. “Also, having the opportunity to work with Vincent is beyond a dream come true. I’ve followed his career for over a decade and knew he needed to play the co-lead of this movie.

Lots of comics have beef with other comics but how many can claim multiple physical fights with funny co-stars?
That’s why we have to take off our hats to Chevy Chase, the guy who made Chris Columbus flee National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, scared off super-fan Kevin Smith from a Fletch revival and had his shoulder dislocated in a tussle with Community co-star Joel McHale. Chase is also the undisputed king of Saturday Night Live beef, angering generations of comedians with his a-hole behavior.
Here are five times Chase royally pissed off SNL cast members during show week…
1 John Belushi
According to Saturday Night: A Backstage History of Saturday Night Live, one of the show’s writers noticed that “within two-thirds of the first year, it began to seem that Chevy was more worried about his next cold opening than about being part of the team.”
John Belushi also noticed.

Matt Damon and Casey Affleck have both won Oscars for Massachusetts-set movies; Damon for writing “Good Will Hunting” with Casey’s brother Ben, and Casey for acting in the tragic drama “Manchester by the Sea.” Damon and the Afflecks’ latest Boston-set team-up, heist comedy “The Instigators,” is unlikely to win them any additional gold, but it’s a fun ride nevertheless.
Damon — reuniting with his “Bourne Identity” director Doug Liman — stars as Rory, a financially strapped middle-aged man who decides to give heisting a shot. The cast also includes heavy hitters like Michael Stuhlbarg, Paul Walter Hauser, Ving Rhames, Alfred Molina, and Rob Gronkowski. "Deadpool & Wolverine" not only features a bunch of Deadpool variants making up the infamous Deadpool Corps. from Marvel Comics, it also reveals a bunch of Wolverine variants from across the multiverse. One of them is comically short, both in accuracy when compared to the comics and visually hilarious, while another has been given quite the grandiose crucifixion on a massive X in the middle of a pile of blood-red skulls. But one of them is a totally ripped, gruff, and perfectly grumpy Wolverine played by none other than "Man of Steel" star Henry Cavill.
The introduction of this version of Wolverine not only takes a stab at DC Comics letting their Big Blue Boy Scout go without much of a celebrated send-off, but it shows that Cavill was basically in the wrong comic book universe this whole time. While it's not likely that we'll see Cavill pick up the...

"Saturday Night Live" is, oddly enough, usually a pretty key part of any American election cycle. Name a president and it's easy to picture the person who played them on the long-running NBC sketch show. Say George W. Bush and it's probably just as easy to envision Will Ferrell's take on the former president as it is the man himself. As such, all eyes are now on who will be cast to play Minnesota Governor Tim Walz on "SNL" for its forthcoming 50th season, as he was recently selected to be the running mate for Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee to become our next Potus. For now, though, at least one favorite for the role has taken his hat out of the ring.

“It’s gonna be different now. They’ll never lie to us again.”
It seems odd to start at the ending of “Dick,” the 1999 Watergate satire starring Kirsten Dunst and Michelle Williams and now celebrating its 25th anniversary. But those final lines, spoken by Dunst’s Betsy to Williams’ Arlene, the teen girl duo whom the movie posits as the real political masterminds behind the Deep Throat informant that helped bring down Richard “Dick” Nixon, hit different when rewatching “Dick” in the current political climate.
“It always got a knowing laugh,” said director Andrew Fleming, speaking to IndieWire during the same week of the assassination attempt on Donald Trump’s life and President Joe Biden announcing he was not seeking reelection, instead endorsing his Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee.
“We knew at the time that that was meant to be a joke,” said screenwriter Sheryl Longin, who co-wrote the script with Fleming.

Punkie Johnson’s departure from Saturday Night Live this week is the latest evidence that, more often than not, stand-up comics have a hard time making the transition to sketch comedy. Bill Murray called it. “Nowadays there’s probably more stand-ups that end up on the show, sort of more individual guys, than there used to be,” he says in SNL oral history Live From New York. “They’re individually good, but they maybe don’t have that particular skill or training or as much experience in that area.”
“That area” is sketch comedy. That’s why so many of the show’s all-time great cast members — John Belushi, Gilda Radner, Phil Hartman, Chris Farley, Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Kristin Wiig, Kenan Thompson and Bill Hader, to name a few — came to the show from a sketch comedy background, often trained at Second City or the Groundlings. In Murray’s view,...

Vince Vaughn is convinced studios want to “overthink” comedies nowadays, especially ones without an IP to fall back on.
The actor — who has appeared in iconic original films such as “Wedding Crashers,” “Old School,” and “Swingers” — explained why there is a lack of modern R-rated comedies in theaters.
“[Studios] just overthink it,” Vaughn said during First We Feast’s “Hot Ones” series. “And it’s like, it’s crazy, you get these rules, like, if you did geometry, and you said 87 degrees was a right angle, then all your answers are messed up, instead of 90 degrees. So there became some idea or concept, like, they would say something like, ‘You have to have an IP.'”
He continued, “The people in charge don’t want to get fired more so than they’re looking to do something great, so they want to kind of follow a set of rules that somehow get set in stone,...

Vince Vaughn feels Hollywood executives “overthink it” when it comes to developing the types of R-rated comedies the actor is famously known for.
The Curb Your Enthusiasm actor, who rose to fame in the late ’90s and early 2000s with his hard R-rated movies such as Wedding Crashers, Old School and Swingers, recently shared on Hot Ones his thoughts on those films not being made in this day and age.

For the first few decades of Saturday Night Live, breaking out on the show was a ticket to movie stardom for comics like John Belushi, Eddie Murphy, Mike Myers and Will Ferrell. In the 2000s, the path led to Emmy Award-winning comedies for Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Andy Samberg. In recent years, however, the big reward for a long run on SNL seems to be a job as a game show host.
That payoff isn't quite the same as becoming one of the world's biggest movie stars, but here are seven SNL cast members who got to host quiz shows as a consolation prize…

It's happening: Maya Rudolph, erstwhile queen of late night comedy, is returning to "Saturday Night Live" to play none other than Vice President (and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee) Kamala Harris. The news comes via The Hollywood Reporter, which notes that Rudolph has been temporarily freed up as production on her Apple TV+ comedy series "Loot," scheduled for August, has been delayed.
This isn't actually the first time the comedic actor, who was on the show's main cast from 2000 to 2007, has embodied the highly meme-able politician. Rudolph most recently hosted the show in March 2021, but also played Harris in seven other appearances starting in season 45. Of course, if Harris gets elected as President in November, "Saturday Night Live" will have to either hire Rudolph for more regular appearances or opt to have a current cast member take over the role. If the latter happens, it won't be the first time. Everyone...

Maya Rudolph and “Saturday Night Live” are reuniting once more. The former cast member will reprise her role as current vice president and 2024 presidential hopeful Kamala Harris, TheWrap has learned.
Rudolph will play the politician through the 2024 presidential election, and this is far from the first time she has portrayed Harris. She first played the VP in 2019 during the Season 45 premiere of the NBC comedy staple and has played Harris nine times so far. That first appearance saw her join Larry David as Bernie Sanders in the “Impeachment Town Hall” segment. During that same season, Rudolph won a Primetime Emmy Award for the role in an episode hosted by Eddie Murphy with musical guest Lizzo.
Previously, Rudolph appeared as a cast member on “SNL” from 2000 to ’07. During her time on the show, she became known for her impressions of Oprah Winfrey and Donatella Versace, as well as her recurring “Bronx Beat” sketches,...

“Harold and the Purple Crayon” is a picture book — now a movie — about the importance of imagination. So let’s try to imagine something together, shall we? Let’s all imagine a film starring Zooey Deschanel as an employee of a great big store who meets a childlike fantasy character who left home and now enters the real world in search of his father, who messes up the store she works at but ultimately teaches her a valuable lesson about believing in magic.
Have you got that film in your head? Does it look exactly like the movie “Elf,” that Christmas classic that came out over 20 years ago? Well, now imagine that it’s very purple, not very funny, and it stars Zachary Levi instead of Will Ferrell. “Harold and the Purple Crayon” claims to be about the power of the creative spirit but it’s cobbled together from so many similar films —“Enchanted,...
