Furlong's Brainscan will stream for free on Tubi starting January 1. One of David Fincher's classics, Se7en, is getting the full upgrade treatment for its upcoming 30th anniversary, which includes an exciting opportunity to see the classic film in IMAX.

Per Variety, Fincher's Se7en will play on more than 150 IMAX screens on Jan. 3, 2025. In addition to its first-ever IMAX screening, Se7en will also be released for the first time ever in 4K Uhd on digital platforms, as well as a 4K Blu-ray. The 4K digital upgrade will be available on streaming platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Google Play, and Fandango at Home. Tim Burton has always been an outlier in Hollywood. He's a filmmaker with a distinct, peculiar aesthetic and set of interests, yet his movies have broad appeal and are remarkably consistent in the way they perform financially. Even Burton's weakest franchise films bear the sort of directorial hallmarks that are often missing from tentpoles in the 21st century. Indeed, say what you will against his "Dark Shadows," but only Burton could have enough pull to get a $150 million movie reboot of a cult '60s soap opera oddity green-lit in 2012 while also making it precisely the way he wanted. It's the same reason the critically-derided horror-comedy has found its share of defenders.

The popular 2005 police procedural series "Bones" is full of murder, gore, desiccated corpses, and ... bones. Most episodes begin with the two main characters, "Bones" Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz), coming across a corpse, often discovered in an unusual or disturbing death pose. The two agents, backed up by a team of passionate pathologists, will then reverse-engineer the circumstances of the corpse's death and determine the depth of foul play involved. There was typically a great deal of foul play involved. 

Like other violent shows about death, murder, and corpses, "Bones" was ideal comfort viewing. Despite all the blood, violence, and misery, "Bones" often skewed tonally light, usually involving eccentric side characters and flippant gallows quips. Also, Bones and Brennan typically solved the mysteries of the rotten cadavers, displaying a police investigative system that worked as perfectly as it was designed to.

Prime Video, Guesswork Television, and Ok Great Productions, with the support of Screen Queensland and Screen Territory, today announced that production has started on Deadloch Season 2. Filming on the six-part season is currently taking place in the Northern Territory, including Darwin and surrounds, before production moves to Brisbane, Queensland.

While a premiere date has not been announced yet, Deadloch Season 2 will launch globally on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories.

Created and written by powerhouse comedy minds Kate McCartney and Kate McLennan, the second season features the return of lead stars Kate Box and Madeleine Sami in their roles as detectives Dulcie Collins and Eddie Redcliffe, along with Nina Oyama as Abby Matsuda and Alicia Gardiner as Cath York.

Deadloch Unlocked

Production has begun in Darwin, Northern Territory, on season 2 of Prime Video’s Australian comedy series “Deadloch.” Filming will later relocate to Brisbane, Queensland.

The first season saw two very different female detectives thrown together to solve the murder of a man and was set in Tasmania. While the second season sees the return of Kate Box and Madeleine Sami as detectives Dulcie Collins and Eddie Redcliffe, they are joined by Steve Bisley (“The Great Gatsby”), Shari Sebbens (“The Sapphires”), writer Jean Tong (“Heartbreak High”) and in their acting debut role, Genevieve Morris, Byron Coll, Nikki Britton, Anthony J Sharpe, Blake Pavey, Damien Garvey, Ngali Shaw, Bev Killick, Ling Cooper-Tang, Ursula Yovich, Syd Brisbane, Ines English and Lennox Monaghan.

“Deadloch” S2 is created and written by Kate McCartney and Kate McLennan who also serve as executive producers alongside Kevin Whyte and Tanya Phegan from Guesswork Television. Andy Walker is the producer.

Early next year, Universal and Blumhouse will continue their reanimation of the Universal Monsters with the release of director Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man. Whannell, who also directed Insidious 3 and Upgrade for Blumhouse, was the man responsible for bringing The Invisible Man back to life in 2020. He did so with a modern twist on the character that turned out to be more than just a moderate success. The Invisible Man raked in $144 million on a $7 million budget, receiving mostly positive reviews.

With horror doing better than ever at the box office and Whannell arguably without a miss on his directing resume, hopes are high for Wolf Man, howling into theaters on January 17, 2025.

Fight Club marked a turning point in the career of director David Fincher. Battered and bruised from the debacle of Alien 3, he had all but stepped away from Hollywood when he met with Fox executives Laura Ziskin and Bill Mechanic about the film. Chuck Palahniuk's novel was a reinvention of the serial killer subgenre, and the movie adaptation would revitalize Fincher's career. Fight Club would reveal David Fincher as a formidable filmmaker who had no intention of going quietly.

Equal parts gender identity debate and economic inequality fable, Fight Club attracted controversy. Edward Norton was fresh off American History X and Brad Pitt was forging his own path into Hollywood history when the two came together for the film. In the years since its lackluster cinema release in 1999, the movie has divided audiences and attained cult status through DVD and Blu-ray.

“What’s in the box?” The very fact that you just heard Brad Pitt‘s unique delivery in your head demonstrates how iconic that line has become. The question and reveal brought David Fincher‘s unrelentingly bleak crime thriller, Seven, to a head (sorry) and confirmed a hopelessly despairing worldview.

The box, of course, contained the severed head of Tracy (Gwyneth Paltrow), the sweet wife to Pitt’s detective David. The disembodying is the final move by the serial killer John Doe (Kevin Spacey), who based his crimes on Catholicism’s Seven Deadly Sins. Doe killed Tracy out of Envy, driving David to kill him out of anger. Together Wrath and Envy are punished.

Although that upsetting climax was indeed in the script by Andrew Kevin Walker, Pitt recently revealed that some at the studio New Line Cinema wanted something else entirely in that box.

The Silence of the Lambs is a psychological horror thriller film directed by Jonathan Demme from a screenplay by Ted Tally.

After more than two years in development, Charlie McDowell was nearly ready to direct his third feature. This one was going to be set all over New York, a step up in budget and in scope. But then came Covid, and the film, like everything else, was put on indefinite hold. “The question for myself and friends who are artists was, ‘How do we continue to make stuff?’ ” McDowell tells Tudum. The answer came a couple months into the pandemic. Kristen Stewart and Oscar Isaac have been set to star in the 80’s vampire thriller from Panos Cosmato’s ‘Flesh of the Gods’.

The movie is said to be set in “glittering ’80s L.A.,” where married couple Raoul (Isaac) and Alex (Stewart) each evening descend from their luxury skyscraper condo and head into the city’s electric nighttime realm. When they cross paths with a mysterious and enigmatic figure known as Nameless and her hard-partying cabal, the pair are seduced into a glamorous, surrealistic world of hedonism, thrills and violence.

The project is written by Andrew Kevin Walker from a story he created with Cosmatos, and produced by Adam McKay and Betsy Koch of Hyperobject Industries. Isaac and Gena Konstantinakos also produce for Mad Gene Media.
