For fans of the beloved and Emmy award-winning adult animated comedy Big Mouth, the announcement that the series' eighth season would be its last was a sad moment. Netflix has announced that the eighth and final season of Big Mouth will premiere globally on the streaming service on May 23, 2025.
In the 10-episode season, our beloved Bridgeton teens tackle new challenges as high schoolers, such as driving, drugs, sexual inexperience, enthusiastic consent, porn, and the teenage mind, cancel culture, their changing bodies, and (in the end) fear of the looming future.
Through it all, friendship is the cornerstone for surviving this time of life – whether one’s puberty is just beginning, like for Nick, who gets his first growth spurt, or near its conclusion, like for a maturing (and prematurely balding) Andrew.
At the height of the season, when many of our characters are in crisis, Compassion (personified as a new creature voiced by Holly Hunter) emerges as a crucial way forward. Ultimately, though, this season is about the importance of sticking by and supporting your friends, especially when life gets overwhelming and messy.

Netflix announced 12 new titles for the first of the month and then added a dozen more to the mix. The stealth release slate was at least as good as the previously announced group. Happily, it included one of my favorite films ever. If you haven't seen it yet, this is your chance to add it to your list.
I saw this movie at the theater when it came out in 1989. It was astonishing, amazing, and absolutely brilliant. Sounds like an especially arrogant LLC, doesn't it? Well, it truly was and still is all of those things. From the opening frame to the last, I was riveted, as was the entire audience. As soon as it was available on DVD, I had my own copy. That was followed by the Blu-ray, then the digital version. And lucky you, you get to watch it now on Netflix.

As the days are getting longer and the temperature is starting to rise, Netflix has decided to stream the perfect movie for heading into the warmer months.NYU legend Spike Lee's famous 1989 film — set on the hottest day in Brooklyn — Do The Right Thing, has found a streaming home on Netflix as of March 1, 2025. Written by the She's Gotta Have It director in less than two weeks, the film is a beautiful love letter to Brooklyn that simultaneously exposes the deep racial tensions of New York City. Lee also stars in the film as the story's middle man, Mookie, a person torn between his Italian-American employer and the Black residents of his community.
While the stylized '80s film might seem like a snapshot of a time gone by, the film's themes of racial relations in the American melting pot are more pertinent now than ever. The film has...

The Dead Don't Die is independent director Jim Jarmusch's absurdist take on a horror comedy that centers on the reactions of people in a small town when they find themselves in the middle of a zombie apocalypse caused by polar fracking. The movie is led by Adam Driver and Bill Murray, but the supporting cast includes Tilda Swinton, Chloë Sevigny, Steve Buscemi, Danny Glover, Selena Gomez, and more, giving the movie a very impressive wealth of talent. While many main characters in The Dead Don't Die ultimately end up dying, their adventures along the way are pretty unusual and funny.
While the film received mixed reviews upon its initial release, when the movie was added to Netflix in December 2024, The Dead Don't Die quickly found streaming success. Its renewed popularity is no surprise given the deadpan humor, fourth wall breaks, and unexpected ending twist in The Dead Don't Die...

The world is full of underrated zombie movies that you really need to see, and when one of them was made by Jim Jarmusch and features a laundry list of Hollywood's finest actors, there's no shame in being doubly intrigued. The movie in question is none other than the 2019 horror comedy "The Dead Don't Die," which is currently seeing plenty of success on Netflix. In fact, the decidedly un-seasonal film is sitting at a very respectable third position on the streaming platform's Top 10 daily most viewed movies as of December 22, 2024 (per FlixPatrol).
In many ways, "The Dead Don't Die" is a perfect movie for the streaming age. A decidedly off-kilter film with a slow pacing and thematic choices that made it difficult for audiences and critics to swallow (as evidenced by its 54 percent critics score on Rotten Tomatoes), it failed to set the box office ablaze during its original theatrical run.

The Billy Crystal-starring Apple TV+ series Before is not only a dramatic turn for the actor-comedian, but it also marks a rare TV-starring gig for the veteran performer known for his roles in movies like When Harry Met Sally and Analyze This.
Crystal, who also executive produces the show, had been working on the project with screenwriter Eric Roth (Forrest Gump, Killers of the Flower Moon), exploring the idea of a “pediatric psychiatrist dealing with a troubled kid whose trauma is something unexplained,” Crystal said.
But it wasn’t until Roth brought on writer Sarah Thorp, who would go on to serve as showrunner and an executive producer, alongside Roth and others, on the series, that Crystal thought of playing the psychiatrist character Eli.
“When she pitched her vision for Eli and his world and what the world might be, I instantly said, ‘Sarah, stop, I’m going to do this.

The Apple TV+ series Before ended its run today, Dec. 20, 2024, with the back half of the supernatural thriller becoming increasingly intense. Billy Crystal gives a great dramatic performance as a widowed child psychiatrist who becomes dangerously obsessed with the strange case of a young foster child (Jacobi Jupe) and the many creepy coincidences and connections between them. In many ways, Before became a different show (and arguably a much better one) than many people expected after the first two episodes of the series. But as Crystal told MovieWeb, the whole series was almost completely different. "It really started as a whole different show," said Crystal in our interview, explaining:
"It started out as a show called Death Bed, which was about a 100-year-old guy who was working with a gerontologist aid, and he gives him a list of people that he wants to see, and the people then come in and out of his life.

Diego Luna doesn’t consider himself a Method actor. But in order to play the role of Andy, the plastic surgery and Botox-obsessed boxing manager in Hulu’s La Máquina,” the Andor star felt like he had no other choice. “I’m not intense in that way,” he tells Gold Derby. “This was just the way I had to do it, because it was a very difficult character to turn on and off. So yeah, I had to be him. I enjoyed it a lot , but I was really tired by the end to be fair.” With Luna earning a Golden Globe nomination for Best TV Supporting Actor, the effort seems to have paid off.
La Máquina, Hulu’s first foray into Spanish-language programming, reunites Luna with his Y tu mamá también co-star Gael García Bernal, who plays an aging boxer managed by Luna’s Andy. The pair first conceived...

Bill Murray may be best known for his larger-than-life comedy performances in movies such as Groundhog Day and Caddyshack, as well as the droll and sarcastic Peter Venkman in the Ghostbusters franchise. However, in 2019, he starred in his second zombie comedy (after his brilliant cameo in Woody Harrelson’s Zombieland franchise) with Jim Jarmusch’s The Dead Don’t Die. Now the financial and critical disappointment is shuffling its way onto Netflix on December 16.
While a quirky and completely deadpan approach to the zombie genre, which seemed to have a lot of promise from its premise and leading cast, which also includes Adam Driver, the blend of horror, comedy and a lot of social commentary ended up being even more lifeless than the undead creatures it features. Jarmusch’s deep dive into environmental issues in the guise of a slow-moving dark comedy really failed to connect with either audiences or critics,...

In episode 8 of Before, Eli sort of proved that he and Noah were “connected” because the child psychologist had a random nosebleed right when Noah smashed his face into a window to protest his shift from St. Benedict’s to a facility in Ithaca. Maybe that little stunt stalled the authorities, but it certainly didn’t stop Eli from taking a trip to the farmhouse that Noah kept referencing in all his artwork. Apparently, that was the last place that Benjamin and Lynn had gone to prior to his sudden death. Eli also met his end at that farmhouse, after witnessing a series of disjointed visuals, but since Cleo was with him, she decided to dial 911 and get the elderly child psychologist to a hospital. It wasn’t clear if the infected wound that he had sustained while throwing a temper tantrum in his house in the first episode was...

“Everybody was trying to get to Aaliyah”: Jay-Z Tried Really Hard to Date Beyonce’s Rival but Failed

August 25, 2001, was a dark day for the music industry when the promising Princess of R&b passed away. As Aaliyah boarded a plane with eight other people in the Bahamas, little did she know that that was going to be her last day in this world. While the late singer did her own thing in the music industry, fans have been putting her up against Beyoncé, questioning how the former’s music would have impacted the latter’s career.

While the Internet is divided on the topic, there is one thing the two singers had in common apart from the R&b genre – Jay-Z. When Aaliyah was riding the waves of her well-deserved fame, every man in the industry wanted her by his side, including Jay-Z apparently. At least, that’s what her former lover Damon Dash has stated.

Stephen King shares his praise for a new Apple TV+ thriller, matching the audience's sentiment. Apple TV+ has been on a run of consistently releasing new original shows over the past few years, with the genre frequently falling into the thriller category. Oftentimes, those thrillers will have a sci-bent, with Silo, Dark Matter, and Severance. But the preference for tense stories also extends beyond the science fiction realm.
Lady in the Lake, led by Natalie Portman, was a murder mystery presented as a thriller. The same is true for The Crowded Room, starring Tom Holland and Amanda Seyfried, which was a crime drama that often veered into the direction of a paranoid and shaky narrative with an unreliable protagonist at the center. One of the newest thrillers from the streamer continues the trend, including another big actor, though responses have been split.

There are quite a few projects currently in various stages of development at DC Studios, but James Gunn recently made it clear that not everything revealed during the initial Dcu "Gods and Monsters" slate announcement is guaranteed to move forward.
With this in mind, it's best not to put too much stock in the following just yet, although the source has proven to be very reliable of late.
According to Nexus Point News' Apocalyptic Horseman, a live-action series based on The Question is in the works. He clarifies that nothing has been green-lit, and the project is only in the very early stages.

Actor Frank Grillo is among a select few who have acted in both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and James Gunn's upcoming DC Universe. He played Brock Rumlow/Crossbones in the MCU and will play Rick Flag, Sr. in the Dcu. As such, he has unique insight into what both franchises are like.
In an interview with Cinema Blend, the actor said that Marvel has "been in trouble a little bit because they got, I think, way over their skis, so to speak." He then elaborated that the manner in which James Gunn and Peter Safran are crafting the Dcu "creates a cohesiveness and an understanding of the character" through using the same actors across animated and live-action projects.
Grillo continued: "more importantly, [Gunn] understands how to utilize them in each story. And so there's not an egregious number of people who youre like, Why is he (here)? What's this?...

Friday night’s Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul boxing match was both a triumph and a tragedy for Netflix. The fight saw 60 million households tuning in for the live stream — and millions more tried to, probably.
Netflix’s reach for its live-streaming ambitions still exceed its grasp. Some attempts (the Tom Brady roast!) saw success while others (the “Love Is Blind” reunion special) did not; that Netflix pro-am golf tournament was just lame. And on Friday night, Netflix Live’s biggest moment to date, the streamer’s tech, talent, and general approach let users down.
The biggest issue of Tyson vs. Paul was, of course, a bandwidth supply that simply could not keep up with demand. Kind of a humblebrag, right? Frasier is more than just a spin-off of the hit sitcom Cheers; it's a celebration of intellect and comedy. Though the show is best known for its pretentious titular character, fans immediately fell in love with the surrounding cast. As such, it was Frasier's friends and family that helped to keep this show grounded and ensured that it still maintained some of Cheers' middle-class gags.
Daphne Moon is a premium example of a secondary character.

Netflix’s first live sports event ended with a bang, as the boxing match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson went all eight rounds, with Paul coming out victorious via unanimous decision.
Immediately after the fight, Paul was humble about his victory, saying, “First and foremost, Mike Tyson … it’s such an honor. Let’s give it up for Mike, he’s a legend. He’s the greatest to ever do it. He’s the Goat. I look up to him, I’m inspired by him, and we wouldn’t be here today without him.”
Tyson spoke about his performance, saying, “I didn’t prove nothing to anybody, only to myself.” He also gave props to Paul as an athlete, saying, “He’s a very good fighter.”
The Nov. 15 fight took place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Presenters and commentators included Roy Jones Jr., Cedric the Entertainer, Kate Abdo and Rosie Perez.

Ahead of Friday night’s boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul — live right now around the world on Netflix – former world champ Tyson gave a pre-fight interview in which he showed off more than his muscles.
As Tyson walked away, the camera kept on him, revealing he’d been speaking while wearing his jock strap. Which, of course, meant his butt cheeks were exposed to literally millions of people watching on Netflix.
But there’s no hard feelings. In fact, even Netflix thought it was fun, joking that the interview got a little “cheeky” afterward. See the clip below:

Rosie Perez, who is just one of the celebs providing color commentary for the fight, had this witty response to the incident: “We could’ve done without that butt shot.”

(Updated with more details) Netflix’s much hyped and much delayed live fight tonight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul is taking some hits even before the former heavyweight champion and the YouTuber turned boxer have climbed in the ring.
From nearly the start of the undercard bouts from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the streamer has been freezing, losing sound and proving slow to reload. While not totally crashing as Netflix did when Luke Cage launched on the streamer in October 2016, the audio on the feed cut out over and over and the quality of the image was reduced to smeared pixels repeatedly.
Across the country, fight fans have taken to social media to air their grievances — to put it politely.
“This live stream from #Netflix is horrendous, wrote @Cali_Baba on X/Twitter early on in the multi-fight. “Buffering on and off, pixelated image, muffled sound,” he...

Ladies and gentlemen: Are you ready to rumble?!
Well, too bad — we’re rumbling anyway. Nearly one year to the day after being announced — and following one false start in July due to stomach ulcers — Jake Paul and Mike Tyson faced off in the ring Friday night for one of the most mega-hyped events in sports history.
This unlikely showdown between Paul, a 27-year-old former YouTube star, and Tyson, a 58-year-old former undisputed heavyweight with his own, Gen X-beloved video game, is virtually impossible to ignore — and marks a giant leap forward in terms of Netflix’s live-streaming ambitions.
If promoters Most Valuable Promotions are to be believed, the fight will be the most-watched in history. Netflix has not announced any viewership expectations. Paul himself predicted that 25 million would tune in.
Before a single punch had been thrown, it had already been one of the most debated, reviled and mocked fights ever mounted.
