Holiday themed horror films occupy a special place in the genre. While too many horror movies are released and forgotten, ones tied to annual holidays find themselves back in the conversation each and every year. John Carpenter's "Halloween" is obviously the king of this particular hill, both in how strongly its tied to the day and in the breadth of its franchise, but there are numerous others occupying the calendar year. Christmas has dozens of memorable horror films, New Year's Eve/Day has "Terror Train" and "New Year's Evil," Valentine's Day has "My Bloody Valentine" and "Heart Eyes," Thanksgiving has "Blood Rage" and "Thanksgiving" -- you get the idea.
It might surprise you, though, that when it comes to the size and scope of the franchise, it's a horror franchise connected to St. Patrick's Day that lands the spot right behind Halloween. It might not take place on the holiday,...

The O’Keefe Music Foundation has unveiled a family-friendly cover of the Body Count anthem “Body Count’s in the House” covered by a band of kids, including a 10-year-old singer.
While it might seem like a shock for a band of youths to cover the otherwise extreme rap metal of Body Count, the band’s eponymous theme song is pretty harmless — a fun, mostly instrumental jam with only the repeated lyrics: “Body count, body count, body count.”
Ten-year-old Carrick McCarty of Ohio, clad in a Wu-Tang Clan shirt, assumes the role of Ice-t as he shouts the band name over slamming riffs. Lead guitarist Xander Markewich, 13, really gets to show off his skills, as the original song mainly consists of Ernie C ripping off shreddy leads. Markewich does Ernie proud with his performance, which is bolstered by rhythm axework by 13-year-old guitarist K8.

The Other Guys, starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, was a clever satire of buddy cop movies – while also scratching the itch for action and camaraderie that define the genre – but it never became a box office hit. However, it found new life on streaming, becoming a cult classic, and now, it’s available on Hulu.
Per Hulu, The Other Guysis one of several new films now available on the streaming platform. The film follows Ferrell and Wahlberg’s characters, two desk jockeys at the police department, as they get the opportunity to prove their heroic worth. The film also stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Samuel L. Jackson as two ass-kickin’, name-takin’ detectives, who are idolized by most of the force. Johnson and Jackson’s characters also happen to have one of the funniest scenes in the film when they jump off a building, thinking they’ll survive – as...

Quick Links'Law & Order' vs. 'Arrest and Trial'How 'Law & Order' Managed to Stand Out
Dun-dun! The Law & Orderfranchise has been a part of our television landscape since 1990. The original series and its spin-offs comprise a whopping 67 seasons and over 1,300 episodes. As iconic as Law & Order is, it's hard to imagine that its concept was borrowed heavily from another series. That series was the 1960s similarly titled Arrest and Trial.
If you've never heard of this show, you're likely not alone. Arrest and Trial aired for a single season on ABC and blended elements of police procedurals and courtroom dramas. To be fair, Law & Order didn't copy Arrest and Trial's premise on purpose. The similarities were only discovered after Dick Wolf pitched the series. But rather than abandon the concept, Wolf and the team chose to retool while making some distinct changes. Still, without this little-known '60s series,...

This article contains spoilers for the Feb. 20 episode of “Law & Order: Svu.”
In Thursday night’s episode of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” Detective Joe Velasco, played by Octavio Pisano, learns the only way to catch a local rapist is to connect with his neighbors in Washington Heights, who don’t exactly trust the police.
His extra effort earns high praise from Captain Benson (Mariska Hargitay): At the end of the episode, she tells him he has “command presence.”
First, he had to befriend his noisy downstairs neighbor, an ambitious young security guard Danny (Ethan Jones Romero), who wound up in jail after beating up a man he thought was the suspect. Danny targeted the wrong man, but, as Benson suggests, he does know the neighborhood a lot better than Joe, and his information and connections help break the case.

In the age of social media, it's so much easier for those in charge of making decisions for a television show to know in real time what their fans think, theorize, or otherwise feel about their favorite shows. That real-time feedback can sometimes influence the editorial decisions made by a show (if there's enough time between the feedback and the decision in the writer's room). So much has been the case for one couple on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. The Dick Wolf-created show has been on air for 27 years, as long as some die-hard fans have been alive. The squad within the Special Victims Unit has changed quite a bit in the two and a half decades it's been on the air, with Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Fin Tutuola (Ice-t) remaining from the early days.

John Candy was hands-down one of the greatest comedic performers of all-time. But after starring in classics like Uncle Buck, Spaceballs and Planes, Trains and Automobiles, Candy’s final film job was playing the drunken wagoneer in the disappointing Western parody Wagon’s East.
Or was it?
While Candy died during the making of Wagon’s East, Michael Moore’s Candy-starring Canadian Bacon actually was released even later, due to a delay caused by distribution problems. But on IMDb, Candy’s last credited film role is in 1996’s The Magic 7. Which begs the question: What the fuck is The Magic 7?
Reportedly, The Magic 7 was an environmentally-conscious children’s movie that combined live-action scenes and animated segments. The production boasted a wildly eclectic cast of megastars, including Michael J. Fox, Demi Moore, Meryl Streep, the late Madeline Kahn, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Bette Midler.

Top of the mornin’ to you! It may not be St. Patrick’s Day, but it’s never a bad time to watch Leprechaun movies, and we here at Arrow in the Head decided to go back over the whole Leprechaun franchise to rank them from worst to first. The Leprechaun Movies Ranked list can be seen below – check it out and let us know how you would rank the movies!
Leprechaun: Origins (2014)
This is appalling. Director Zach Lipovsky, writer Harris Wilkinson, and WWE Studios were given the chance to make a new Leprechaun movie, they cast a professional wrestler (Dylan “Hornswoggle” Postl) as the title character, and then they just churned out a dull monster movie. I don’t know how anyone involved thought this was a good idea (“You know what we should do? Take everything people liked about Leprechaun and remove it!”) or how Leprechaun: Origins made it through production.

Acclaimed New Jack City screenwriter Barry Michael Cooper has passed away. He was 66 years old.
Per Variety, Cooper passed away on January 22, 2025, in Baltimore, Maryland. Cooper's passing was announced by a representative for award-winning filmmaker Spike Lee, with whom Lee collaborated for Netflix's streaming series adaptation of She's Gotta Have It.
Born in Harlem, New York sometime in 1957 or 1958, Cooper grew up in Little Washington Heights, spending much of his youth in the Esplanade Gardens co-op. Cooper served as an investigative reporter for The Village Voice throughout the 1980s. His time with the alt-weekly paper led to the publication of his article "Tedd Riley's New Jack Swing: Harlem Gangsters Raise a Genius," which is largely attributed for naming the genre itself back in 1987. Later that year, The Village Voice published Cooper's article "Kids Killing Kids: New Jack City Eats Its Young," which drew the attention of Quincy Jones, who...

Barry Michael Cooper, a writer and producer who co-wrote the blaxploitation ’90s classic “New Jack City” and finished his “Harlem trilogy” writing “Sugar Hill” and “Above the Rim,” died in Baltimore, Md. on Tuesday. He was 66.
Cooper’s death was confirmed by a representative for Spike Lee. The pair collaborated on the Netflix series adaptation of Lee’s debut feature “She’s Gotta Have It.” Cooper served as a producer for both seasons, and a write for three episodes.
Cooper made his feature screenwriting debut with Mario Van Peebles’ “New Jack City,” which he co-wrote with Thomas Lee Wright. The film starred Wesley Snipes and Ice-t as a gang leader and a hardened cop, dodging one another amid a crack epidemic in Harlem. Fin Tutuola (Ice-t) has delivered many of Law & Order: Svu's best lines over the past 24 years. Fin first joins the Special Victims Unit in season 2, replacing Monique Jeffries (Michelle Hurd), who quits after being put on desk duty for breaking the rules. Fin claimed many of Law & Order: Svu's best stories in the years since he first joined the series, most notably a seasons-long arc of learning that his son is gay and growing to accept him and his husband. Fin is now a proud grandfather as well as Olivia Benson's (Mariska Hargitay) right-hand man.
When he first transferred from Narcotics to Svu, Fin was partnered with the now-late John Munch (Richard Belzer). Munch and Fin shared a cynical view of the world and a razor-sharp wit, which Fin still possesses 10 years after Munch left the series. Fin's compassion for victims balances his sarcastic streak,...

Saturday Night Live will air a brand-new episode tonight, January 18. The latest entry in season 50 should be one for the books.

Now, a refreshed and recharged Saturday Night Live is ready for its first show of 2025. Comedian Dave Chappelle returns to Studio 8H to host for the fourth time. Rapper GloRilla joins him as tonight's musical guest.
It all starts at 11:30 p.m. Et on NBC. Here's what to watch for during tonight's episode
Dave Chappelle's monologue
Many Saturday Night Live fans assumed that Dave Chappelle would host an episode during season 50. However, it wasn't the post-election episode that many believed would star Chappelle.

If you’re between the ages of approximately 35 and 65, you probably remember the California Raisins, a claymation group of sun-dried grapes that ruled the airwaves and the commercial break with soulful covers of classic R&b hits. If you’re not, that sentence sounded like a stroke-induced fever dream. That’s by design — the whole thing started when an ad exec trying to come up with an idea for a commercial for Sun-Maid said, “We have tried everything but dancing raisins singing ‘I Heard It Through the Grapevine.’”
He had no idea how successful his stupid joke was going to be. Between 1986 and 1994, those damn raisins were inescapable, branching out from TV commercials to primetime specials (which garnered Emmy nominations), a short-lived Saturday morning TV show, a boatload of merchandise, collabs with other brands, not one but two video games and four studio albums, which brings us to a white...

Erin Moriarty got her start in the industry when she was just 11 years old, and her best movies and TV shows run her entire timeline from her work as a teenager up to now. Because Moriarity was born and raised in New York, she is trained in theater as well as on-screen, but her professional work has all been for TV and film. Though one of her earliest roles was in the soap opera One Life To Live, the soap does not make it into her best work.
Soap operas, however, are notorious for being like bootcamp for actors just starting out in the industry since work on a soap is incredibly fast-paced and takes place nearly every day. Moriarty likely got a television crash course that has served her well. Most of her roles have been of a supporting nature in her career so far, but she has demonstrated...

Although Law & Order: Svu is going strong a quarter-century after its premiere episode, several harsh realities about season 1 become apparent on rewatch. Law & Order: Svu is considered one of the best Law & Order series because of its commitment to supporting and empowering survivors. From its first episode, it made it clear that this series was about giving a voice to victims of heinous crimes that are not often talked about, and the show is often groundbreaking in how seriously it takes sexual assault and similar crimes.

It’s the kind of moment you never forget. You’re in a beloved role, part of an iconic show, and suddenly, the rug gets pulled out from under you. Mariska Hargitay, who’s spent more than two decades playing Olivia Benson on Law & Order: Svu, almost found herself saying goodbye to the character and the show that had become her life.

Let’s rewind to a pivotal moment in Hargitay’s career. Imagine being on top of the world, portraying a character that resonates deeply with fans, only to find out that your time in the role might be up due to a disagreement with the very creator who made you famous. That was almost Hargitay’s reality, as Dick Wolf, the man behind the Law & Order franchise, came close to firing her.

The will-they-won't-they dynamic is a tale as old as time. Most notably, in sitcoms, this type of relationship between two characters allows a series to go on long-term without the main couple getting stale. This idea works not just in comedies but in many long-running procedurals. It also happens to be one of the biggest draws to the crime series Bones. Inspired by real-life anthropologist Kathy Reichs, the series features Temperance "Bones" Brennan, a genius in the field. Her extreme intelligence contradicts her inexperience with personal relationships.
Throwing in forthright Seeley Booth is designed to test Brennan as well as create tension for the series. At first, the two are just partners, but they go on to pursue romantic feelings for each other and eventually form a family. Bones is not the first series to attempt this, even if it does it very well. For fans who are yearning to recapture this classic dynamic,...

A potential fan-favorite return to Law & Order: Svu is more difficult after a new casting update. Unsurprisingly, there have been many cast changes during the 26 years the police procedural dedicated to trauma survivors has been on the air. Mariska Hargitay's Olivia Benson is the only character from the first season who is part of the Law & Order: Svu season 26 cast, and except for Fin (Ice-t), who arrived during season 2, the team is made up of people who have been with the series for less than three years.

Law & Order: Svu is nothing if not long-lasting. The procedural drama is currently on its 26th season, making it the longest-running live-action TV series in American history. You don't get to nearly three decades of dominance without a reliable stable of actors, but one of Svu's most recognizable faces was almost axed after four episodes.
Ice-t was introduced Sergeant Odafin "Fin" Tutuola in Law & Order: Svu season 2. He was originally hired on to appear in four episodes, in what would have amounted to a glorified cameo, but the show writers and producers quickly took notice of Ice-t's chemistry with the rest of the cast.

Body Count made an appearance Wednesday (December 5th) on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, performing their cover of Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb.”

Kendrick Lamar has dropped a new music video for “squabble up” from his surprise album, Gnx, released this past Friday. Watch it below.
Directed by Calmatic, the visual treatment was filmed entirely in a room painted a muted green — a nod to The Roots’ “The Next Movement” video. A whole lot is going on in the background, but Kendrick notably sits down with a book called How to Be More Like Kendrick for Dummies and it looks like all the references in the clip serve this exact purpose.
In addition to Menace II Society and Soul Train tributes, the video pays homage to forebears like Ice T and E-40 by echoing their Power and In a Major Way album covers, respectively. There are other references to the likes of Isaac Hayes, Nate Dogg, and Mac Dre as well.
Besides that, there are more overtures to the unity demonstrated at Kendrick’s “Pop Out” concert,...

Law and Order: Svu aired its fall finale on Thursday. There was plenty that went down in the episode, and most of it revolved around Dominick Carisi (Peter Scanavino). The Assistant District Attorney and spouse of Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddick) was pulled into a harrowing situation involving hostages.
Spoilers Ahead: A chance visit to a deli leads Carisi to be taken at gunpoint by robbers. He's forced to stand by as one civilian gets assaulted and another killed. He eventually concocted a scheme that forced the two robbers to question their loyalty and take each other out.

Body Count have unveiled the title track from their new album Merciless. The new song and accompanying music video arrive a day before the LP’s release on Friday (November 22nd).
The vicious track pits Ice-t’s bars against a riff that sounds like the intro from Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man.” It creates a doom vibe that drops into a chorus of Slayer-like thrash with ominous gang vocals chanting the song and album title (“Merciless!”). Ice-t proceeds to make his point clear: “I’ve only got one life to live / I got no more fucks to give.”
The Jay Scorsese-directed Nsfw video is quite a sight, recreating the shocking Merciless album cover — Ice-t as a torturous surgeon going to work on a KKK member — as if it were a scene from a horror film. Scorsese also directed the video for previous single “Psychopath,” another homage to horror and splatter films.

The newest season of Law and Order: Svu is starting to settle in, of course, just as it is, the fall finale is upon us. There have been a couple of changes this season, positive ones, namely Kevin Kane, who plays Detective Bruno, being bumped to a series regular. We're also still holding onto longstanding favorites such as Ice-t's Sgt. Tutola and, of course, Captain Olivia Benson, played by Mariska Hargitay from Day 1. Given that the show's been on the air for more than a quarter of a century, there's also faces that we've seen for the last decade or so that are still around. That includes Peter Scanavino's Dominic "Sonny" Carisi. But could the upcoming episode be his last?...

Paul McCartney remembered the “supremely talented” Quincy Jones in a tribute to the late musician and producer shared on Instagram.
“Dear Quincy Jones has passed and left those of us who knew him feeling sad,” McCartney wrote. “He was supremely talented, and I felt privileged to have known him for many years.”
As McCartney noted, his connection to Jones began with Beatles producer, George Martin, who’d met and befriended Jones in the early Sixties. Decades later, McCartney would work with Jones and Michael Jackson on Thriller, appearing on the duet,...
