Sure, Hollywood had its doubts about his acting chops back in the day, but Reeves has shut down those haters with an impressive career that spans decades. Whether he’s kicking bad guys in John Wick or giving us all the feels in Toy Story 4, Reeves delivers something only he can: pure magic.
While we might not see him dodging bullets as Neo in Matrix 5 anytime soon, there’s plenty on the horizon.

"Rules and consequences."
Lionsgate has finally launched the brand new trailer for their upcoming action-thriller Ballerina, offering a killer new look at Academy Award-nominee Ana de Armas (Knives Out; No Time to Die; Ghosted) heading into action as Eve Macarro, and it looks like her mission just got considerably more difficult than we imagined as she'll soon find herself up against Baba Yaga himself!
Yes, as the trailer reveals, The Director (Anjelica Huston) will send John Wick (Keanu Reeves) after Eve, in a last-ditch effort to stop her vendetta. John will offer her a choice, leave or die, and the battle commences. It certainly adds an interesting wrinkle to the film, as we were all previously under the assumption that Wick and Macarro would be allies and fight together, which could obviously still happen, but it looks like things will head into a different direction before the credits roll.

In the Ballerina trailer, a flame-torching, axe-throwing Ana de Armas embraces the death-defying stunts and stealthy choreography that made the John Wick movies a standalone, action-packed franchise.

Armas, who plays Eve Macarro, is seeking revenge from the men who killed her family and along the way faces John Wick‘s Keanu Reeves, featured toward the trailer’s end. “Ballerina” is nearly ready to take the stage.
The film from director Len Wiseman is the first feature-length spinoff “from the world of John Wick.” It stars Ana de Armas as a lethal assassin who is in over her head. Watch the new trailer, complete with a promised Keanu Reeves cameo and a trailer-worthy remix of Charli Xcx’s “Von Dutch,” below.
If you’ll recall, the idea of the ballerina program was introduced in “John Wick: Chapter 3,” with Anjelica Huston running an organization of female killers (Huston returns for “Ballerina”). In fact, “Ballerina” takes place during the events of “John Wick: Chapter 3,” which is why Wick can return after dying at the end of 2023’s “John Wick: Chapter 4.” Also returning from the mainline series are Ian McShane and Lance Reddick, who passed away in 2023 at the age of 60. This will be his final posthumous on-screen appearance.

The ‘John Wick’ universe is growing, and it’s bringing some serious action with it. A fresh trailer just dropped for ‘Ballerina’, a spinoff I can’t wait to see. This time, Ana de Armas steps into the spotlight, facing off against the legendary John Wick himself, played by Keanu Reeves. It’s a brutal, gory showdown that promises to keep us on the edge of our seats.
Ana de Armas stars as Eve Macarro, a ballerina with a deadly twist. She’s not just dancing her way across the stage—she’s training to become an assassin with the Ruska Roma, a group we first glimpsed in ‘John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum’. The story picks up between the events of that film and ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’, giving us a new angle on this world of killers. Eve’s out for revenge after her family’s murder, and she’s not holding back.

"She sent you here to kill me?" "Or you can leave..." Lionsgate has launched the third official trailer for the Ballerina action movie, the next John Wick movie (sort of) arriving in theaters worldwide in the summer. Ana de Armas stars as Eve, an assassin trained in the traditions of the Ruska Roma getting revenge hunting the murderers of her family. The same character was played by Unity Phelan in 2019's John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and this takes place before Chapter 4. After years of delays, fans will finally get to see Ana de Armas attempt to put her stamp on the “John Wick” universe this June when “Ballerina” hits theaters.
First announced in 2019, the new “John Wick” spin-off stars de Armas as a ballerina and assassin who seeks revenge on the people who killed her family. Set between the events of the third and fourth “John Wick” films, the new movie features franchise regulars including Ian McShane, Angelica Huston, and Keanu Reeves himself. Back in 2017, Lionsgate bought an action thriller spec script called Ballerina, which was written by Shay Hatten and ranked on The Black List as one of the best unproduced screenplays of that year. The idea was to have Hatten rewrite the script to take place within the world of Lionsgate’s John Wick franchise – and Hatten was also hired to co-write John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, which included a set-up for the Ballerina concept of ballerina assassins. Hatten did his rewrite, Len Wiseman was hired to direct the film, Ana de Armas was cast as the title character, and now, Ballerina is ready to make its way out into the world, with a theatrical release scheduled for June 6th. With that date not far off, a new trailer for the film has arrived online and can be seen in the embed above.

Keanu Reeves' John Wick might not be among the living after "John Wick: Chapter 4," but there's no keeping a good assassin universe down. The Ana de Armas-starring "John Wick" spin-off "Ballerina" (full, awkward title: "From the World of John Wick: Ballerina") will be here on June 6, 2025, and fans of the main movie series' inventive fight scenes and visual language can expect one serious action feast. They can also expect to see many of the familiar power players in the franchise. Folks like the Director (Anjelica Huston), Winston (Ian McShane), and Charon will all feature in the movie -- and since "Ballerina" takes place before the events of "John Wick: Chapter 4," Reeves' master assassin is set to drop by, as well.
The first "Ballerina" trailer introduced us to all of this, along with de Armas' protagonist Eve Macarro and a cavalcade of new supporting characters like Norman Reedus' Daniel Pine...

The upcoming John Wick prequel film, Ballerina, sees Norman Reedus transition from The Walking Dead to running with assassins. New images from the neo-noir thriller teases Reedus' mysterious character in the hard-hitting spinoff.
Via Lionsgate, visuals previewing Ballerina showcase Reedus' character, Daniel Pine, holding a gun and looking ready for battle in a scene from the action thriller. Other images tease Ana de Armas' eponymous protagonist, Eve Macarro/Rooney, including one scene with Eve and New York Continental Hotel owner Winston Scott (Ian McShane) in tense conversation.

"Wicked," released with enough green and pink merchandising to choke a horse, has been one of the rare musical extravaganzas to cross over from an audience of theater enthusiasts into the mainstream. Based on the popular Broadway musical starring Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth (which in turn was based on a Gregory Maguire novel of the same name), "Wicked" tells the origin story of the Wicked Witch of the West from "The Wizard of Oz." Elphaba ends up becoming roommates with Glinda (Ariana Grande as the future good witch) while they're both studying magic at university. An unlikely friendship blossoms between the two total opposites -- until it's suddenly tested by the lure of the Wizard and his Emerald City.
"Wicked" was a smash hit, earning over $700 million at the box office and 10 Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actress (Erivo), and Best Supporting Actress (Grande). It ultimately won...

Though doubts linger regarding Keanu Reeves' return as the eponymous assassin, John Wick 5 has received a promising progress update. A Lionsgate executive not only insisted that the neo-noir sequel is happening, but also hinted that Reeves' character may return.
Speaking with ComicBook, Jenefer Brown, EVP and Head of Global Products and Experiences at Lionsgate, talked about John Wick 5 and upcoming franchise spinoffs. According to Brown, things are heading in the right direction with the next sequel, teasing that she and everyone else are waiting to see if the hitman portrayed by Reeves is truly dead. "We've shared that we're developing a fifth John Wick film. [John Wick] may be [dead]... We are all on bated breath waiting to find out," she said.
Brown also expressed excitement about the other projects in the John Wick franchise, including the upcoming spinoff film, Ballerina. The movie's events occur between Chapter 3 and Chapter 4, featuring Reeves alongside lead star Ana de Armas.

The John Wick saga isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Word’s out from ComicBook that ‘John Wick 5’ is officially in development, and I’m already itching to see what’s next for this bullet-riddled world. The franchise has kept us hooked with its slick action and brooding hero, but here’s the catch—nobody knows if Keanu Reeves will step back into John Wick’s blood-stained shoes.
The fifth movie’s green light comes after ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ smashed it at the box office, pulling in over $440 million. That ending, though—Keanu’s character took a nasty fall, and we last saw Winston and the Bowery King at his grave. It felt final, but Hollywood’s never shy about digging up a good story. Still, Keanu, now 60, might be ready to call it quits after four rounds of relentless fights. Nothing’s confirmed, and that’s what’s got me on edge.

Gene Hackman, nothing less than a titan of the screen, has left us. He was announced dead at the age of 95, along with his wife Betsy Arakawa and one of their dogs, under strange circumstances that are still being investigated. Hackman left the world with a career full of iconic performances, including two Oscar-winning turns in The French Connection and Unforgiven, as well as nominations for Bonnie and Clyde, I Never Sang For My Father, and Mississippi Burning.
This is only scratching the surface of his legacy; mainstream audiences most likely recognize him as Lex Luthor in the 1978 Superman, as the mix of comedy and menace he brought to the role defined one of the most iconic versions of that character. Hackman actually retired from acting in 2004, citing how the intensity of being on set was having effects on his heart condition. Yet one of his final roles in The Royal Tenenbaums,...

Only three years before his retirement, citing health concerns, late actorGene Hackman, who passed away recently, reminded fans of his unmatchable acting potential by stealing the thunder from an ensemble cast featuring Anjelica Houston, Ben Stiller, Luke Wilson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Bill Murray, and Owen Wilson. In the role of the absentee patriarch Royal O'Reilly Tenenbaum, Hackman brought to the screen both his character's eccentricity and the sincerity that lies at the heart of all emotions evoked by the 2001 Wes Anderson film, The Royal Tenenbaums. While it may be unimaginable now to think of the film without Hackman's portrayal of the callous patriarch, he initially rejected one of his last iconic roles in a career spanning six decades that ended with 2004's Welcome to Mooseport.

"Why didn't you leave?" "I'm working on it." Lionsgate has debuted a 30-sec promo TV spot for Ballerina, the next John Wick movie (sort of) arriving in theaters this summer. This is a brand new "Oscars Special Look spot, shown during the Academy Awards ceremony tonight - also now online to enjoy. The film's main supporting cast includes Ian McShane, Anjelica Huston, Keanu Reeves, Gabriel Byrne, Catalina Sandino Moreno, & Norman Reedus. With an appearance by Lance Reddick shot before he passed away. This footage here really does kick ass - this can still potentially turn out to be a fully entertaining big action movie. I'm hopeful!

It is a testament to the depth and breadth of the career of Gene Hackman that, upon the announcement of his passing at the age of 95, people have come together on social media to praise him, but without a uniform winner among his large filmography. Comic-book fans can continue to marvel at how he set the standard for villainous characters with his take on Lex Luthor in "Superman: The Movie." Fans of modern action movies are no doubt fondly remembering his work in the tense and sweaty thriller "Crimson Tide," among other examples. And the number of dramas he made, introspective or otherwise, are nearly innumerable. You can find so many examples of brilliance in Gene Hackman's list of credits, across so many genres. Gene Hackman’s film career is shorthand for greatness, from roles like Francis Ford Coppola’s The Conversation to Clint Eastwood’s Unforgiven. As Rolling Stone’s Rob Sheffield put it, “no film was ever worse off for having Hackman in it.” The actor, born in 1930, had his breakout role in Bonnie and Clyde before appearing in The French Connection, which won him the Best Actor award at the Oscars.

Royal O’Reilly Tenenbaum 1932-2001: Died Tragically Rescuing His Family From The Wreckage Of A Destroyed Sinking Battleship
– Royal Tenenbaum’s epitaph
Wes Anderson’s The Royal Tenenbaums (2001) is not Gene Hackman’s final film. But it feels now, in the wake of the sad news of his death at the age of 95, that Tenenbaums — a witty, warm comic family drama about a flawed patriarch who re-enters his family’s life after years of absence and estrangement — is a beautifully appropriate swansong for the beloved actor. In its own sardonic, eccentric sort of way, it is a story of a man in his twilight years, reaching the end of his life and surveying what he has, what he misses, what he values. It is sweet, it is surprising, and in a career disproportionately stacked with brilliant performances, it possesses one of the best Gene Hackman performances ever recorded on celluloid.
