Guiraudie is most celebrated for “Stranger by the Lake,” which Cahiers du Cinema named the best film of 2013 (as they did with “Misericordia” last year). That film is a cult classic in the West that most millennial gay men, even those not proclaiming to be cinephiles themselves, have seen. It was basically gay porn wrapped up in a pseudo-murder-mystery about a gay cruiser’s unhealthy obsession with a mustached killer of men.

The debut of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s live-action Dcu is creeping ever closer, and that means that rumors of what fans can expect are ramping up with it. One big rumor – and it is just a rumor, so let’s not all wet our pants on the outside yet – is that there is one cameo appearance by a big A-lister in Superman that has not yet been unveiled.

In a wide-ranging career tribute and conversation Thursday night in front of a packed crowd at the 2000-seat Arlington Theatre ahead of their receiving the Santa Barbara Film Festival’s Cinema Vanguard Award, Best Supporting Actor Oscar nominee Guy Pearce, on stage with his The Brutalist co-star and Best Actor Oscar nominee Adrien Brody, made some news.

Recently, James McAvoy opened up about one of his most iconic roles and why he never followed up on it with a sequel. A sequel to the cult classic, The Adventures Of Priscilla Queen Of The Desert is in the works. Thirty years after the original film’s release, it’s also been announced that its cast and writer-director Stephan Elliot are all returning.

Speaking to Deadline, Elliot revealed that a sequel is in the works, saying “I’m not repeating myself, we’ll start the new film in Australia, but by God, we’re going on one helluva journey. The original cast is on board, I’ve got a script that everybody likes, we’re still working out deals. … It’s happening”.

Although nothing is official, Elliot’s statement seems pretty definitive, and confirms that Stamp, Weaving and Pearce are all on board.
