Comic book films, especially those that came out of Marvel, owe a lot to Blade. Blade, the first proper success that Marvel had at the box office, was set to be much bigger than what audiences ended up getting.

However, there was a time when the director of the film, Steven Norrington, was the hottest director on the market, being offered everything from The Avengers to The Hulk. Peter Frankfurt, Wesley Snipes, and David Goyer, the producer, Star, and screenwriter of the film respectively sat down to reveal why exactly did the director of the first film turned all that down. Other members of the crew, such as Stephen Dorff were also present to record the oral history of the film, with EW.

Deadpool & Wolverine is now available on Digital platforms and, thanks to io9, we have one final featurette clip focusing on those familiar superheroes Wade Wilson and Logan encountered in The Void.
As well as plenty of new shots of the Variants in action, we hear from Wesley Snipes on his return as Blade along with Jennifer Garner who addresses suiting up as Elektra again.
Snipes' return as Blade has left a lasting impression on fans, though they never expected him to reprise the role. However, everything changed when Reynolds - who Snipes famously didn't get on with while making the Blade threequel - sent a text message to his old co-star saying, "I want to talk to you."
Earlier this year, Snipes recalled, "I did not think it was possible. I didn't think we would be able to pull it off. I didn't think that Marvel was into it,...

Through music and film, Kris Kristofferson has left an indelible mark on fans over the past 60 years.
Following news of the Golden Globe and 3x Grammy winner’s death at age 88 on Sunday, friends and fans alike expressed their appreciation for his decades of talent with heartfelt tributes to Kristofferson.
Kristofferson’s family announced his passing with a statement on Instagram. “We’re all so blessed for our time with him. Thank you for loving him all these many years, and when you see a rainbow, know he’s smiling down at us all,” they wrote.

A romantic movie disguised as an action film has always been a fan-favorite genre for people. Dave Bautista is all set to enter in this world with his movie alongside Jason Statham and Michael Keaton.

Wesley Snipes’ Blade wasn’t just about vampires and martial arts—it also had Kris Kristofferson stepping into the role of Abraham Whistler—the gritty vampire hunter who mentored Blade himself. Kristofferson was known for his country music and rugged, cowboy-style roles. But producer Peter Frankfurt saw something deeper, something that could bring Whistler’s world-weary, battle-hardened character to life.

It was a move that surprised many but ultimately paid off, as Kristofferson’s performance added a grounded, human element to Blade‘s dark, supernatural world. And let’s be real, who else could’ve pulled off that combination of grizzled toughness and fatherly care like Kristofferson?

Ever since its release back in 1998. Wesley Snipes’ Blade has become a cult classic. The actor’s portrayal of the superhero in the late 90s left quite an impact on the genre. With the film following the story of a half-human, half-vampire warrior on a mission to protect humanity from the bloodthirsty underworld, fans all over the world were hooked to their screens. Although Stephen Norrington, Guillermo del Toro, and David S. Goyer brought the story to life, Fight Club director David Fincher was once wanted to helm the project.

Despite the filmmaker’s initial excitement and ideas for the movie, Fincher’s ambitious vision ultimately never made it to the screen. However, years ago, the producer of the show ended up revealing how the 62-year-old’s ideas had thrown everyone for a spin.

Deadpool And Wolverine gave cinema a massive live action hit just when it needed it. But now what? A few thoughts on Marvel’s huge movie success.
Spoilers lie ahead for Deadpool and Wolverine, and Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
We’re now in the gap between Deadpool And Wolverine’s run in cinemas and its home formats roll-out in October, as announced last week. I wanted this piece to not be a piece of clickbait, or to be the party pooper for a film where I’m clearly in the minority. In fact, I’m starting this article already from a position where 90% of people will disagree with me, and I get it. I remember being obsessed when I was young with Back To The Future Part II, when critical types were telling me it was a mess. Didn’t stop me enjoying it then, doesn’t stop me enjoying it now.

Another Deadpool & Wolverine deleted scene has been released and it raises some interesting questions about where this sequence was meant to fit into the R-Rated threequel.
Mr. Paradox - who has clearly crossed paths with the Merc with the Mouth at this point given the state of his face - has tracked Hunter B-15 down to ask for resources he intends to use for the observation post on Earth-100005. Of course, we know he wants those to speed up construction on the Time Ripper, but the Loki character isn't biting.
This doesn't feel like an overly necessary scene...which explains why it ended up on the cutting room floor! However, we're guessing it was meant to better explain how Hunter B-15 later figures out what Mr. Paradox is up to.
With Deadpool & Wolverine's Digital release just a couple of days away, there are lots of epic moments...

So much for the seashells…1993’s sci-fi actioner and cult favorite Demolition Man will be getting the 4K treatment courtesy of Arrow Video, as revealed in the lineup of their December slate. Arrow isn’t skimping, either – we just hope the future is big enough for the entire set.
This Demolition Man release boasts a brand new 4K restoration from the original camera negative, which has been approved by director Marco Brambilla. It, too, has Dolby Vision/Hdr. Outside of the technical specs, the Demolition Man 4K will offers two new audio commentaries: one with Brambilla and screenwriter Daniel Waters, and another with film historian Mike White (of the Projection Booth podcast). There is also an archival commentary with Brambilla and producer Joel Silver. Also included are new interviews with the likes of production designer David L. Snyder, stunt coordinator Charles Percini, special makeup effects artist Chris Biggs and body effects set coordinator Jeff Farley.

"Blade won't admit it, but he wants a S'more."
Deadpool and Wolverine is set to arrive on digital on October 1, before hitting 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD a few weeks later on October 22, and the gag-reel from the extra features has now been officially released online (via Mashable).
The minute-long video features some very funny out-takes, with Ryan Reynolds clearly improvising some of his dialogue (he comes up with some hilariously inventive alternate middle names for Tony Stark). We also get to see a few shots from scenes that didn't make the final cut, including Wade Wilson attempting a piggyback (which we saw in set photos), and the Merc With a Mouth interrupting Logan's (Hugh Jackman) conversation with X-23 (Dafne Keen) to bring Blade (Wesley Snipes) a S'more.

Marvel Studios’ “Deadpool & Wolverine” is setting its sights on adding some awards gold to its already colossal box office haul this year’s awards season.
Looking to replicate the success of the 2016 original, Disney is determined to push the Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman multiverse spectacle into contention with major awards groups. Shawn Levy’s billion-dollar summer blockbuster will be submitted for consideration at the Golden Globes in the comedy categories, with Reynolds’ performance as Wade Wilson, a.k.a. America's long wait -- nay, make that the world's long wait -- is finally over, because Dogpool is finally coming home. "Deadpool & Wolverine" certainly lived up to all those sky-high expectations as a cameo-laden, multiversal romp, but it also proved to be exactly the hit at the box office that theaters so desperately needed. That record-smashing success explains why the blockbuster remained exclusively on the big screen for as long as it has. Well, even the most profitable things must come to an end at some point, as the saying (kind of) goes, and that includes billion-dollar grossing superhero movies too.
That's not to say that "Deadpool & Wolverine" and its money-making days are behind it, mind you. Far from it! The Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman team-up extravaganza is merely headed for the next stage of its capitalist journey, and that is its impending release on home media.

The Trailer for Michael B. Jordan’s Vampire Film ‘Sinners’ Is Out Before ‘Blade’ Even Begins Filming
Michael B. Jordan is back in action with his “Black Panther” writer/director Ryan Coogler.
The trailer for “Sinners,” the highly-anticipated vampire movie from the MCU duo, is officially out years before the long-awaited “Blade” remake. “Sinners” has been positioned as the non-mcu-sanctioned take on the “Blade” comics. While Coogler has made two Marvel films (the “Black Panther” features), “Sinners” is entirely separate from the franchise — and probably for the best.
Marvel’s “Blade” starring Mahershala Ali was first announced in 2019. Since then, it’s had a rotating door of writers and directors.
Coogler and Jordan first collaborated on “Fruitvale Station,” and then moved on to “Creed.” Jordan later made his directorial debut with “Creed III.”
“Sinners,” again written and directed by Coogler, centers on twin brothers — both played by Jordan — who return to their New Orleans hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back.

Sandra Bullock is a name that immediately takes us back to one of the greatest action films ever made, Speed (1994). Over the years, the 60-year-old actress starred in many box office hits, and it wasn’t just her role as Annie Porter that brought her a lot of recognition in the world of entertainment. Bullock had to work extremely hard before landing major roles in the industry.
The Gravity actress was born on July 26, 1964, to John W. Bullock and Helga Mathilde Meyer in Arlington, Virginia. While both her parents were vocal experts, Bullock loved acting and cheerleading while growing up.

Another fact about the A-lister is that she spent a little over a decade in Germany since her father was stationed as the Army’s Military Postal Service in charge. It was during his time in Nuremberg that he met Meyer.

Guillermo del Toro's 2002 action/horror sequel "Blade II" came with a novel concept: what if vampires had vampires of their own? Blade, to remind readers, was a half-vampire badass who hunted and killed vampires as his life goal. The sunlight-allergic bloodsuckers, in Blade's world, were secretive titans of industry, hidden in boardrooms and careful to remain out of the public eye. They had a culture and ancient writings all their own, and a vast network of human interns who could do their ghoulish bidding during the daylight hours. Blade (Wesley Snipes) was born half-vampire after his mother was bitten while pregnant. As an adult, Blade has found all the most efficient ways to slay vampires, notably by cutting them up with pure silver swords.
In "Blade II," the title hero found that some vampires had evolved into a new species called Reapers. Reapers had lower jaws that could split...

We're still waiting on Disney to announce Deadpool & Wolverine's home entertainment release (we're hearing October is likely for a Digital launch) and the movie just hit another huge box office benchmark.
With over $622 million domestically, the R-Rated Marvel Studios threequel will pass The Avengers today to become the fifth highest-grossing comic book movie ever.
It will then sit behind Avengers: Infinity War, Black Panther, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Avengers: Endgame at #1.
This is an incredible achievement for Deadpool & Wolverine and proof that last year's talk of "superhero fatigue" was both far too premature and wishful thinking on the part of the genre's biggest detractors.
In other box office news, Deadline reports that the first animated Transformers movie in close to four decades, Transformers One, grossed an impressive $3.36 million during Thursday previews. That's better than Bumblebee's $2.15 million in 2018 but less than the $8.8 million made by Transformers: Rise of the Beasts last year.

Will we ever see the Daywalker on the big screen again? Well, unless Marvel and Disney plan to reinstate Wesley Snipes following his celebrated cameo in "Deadpool & Wolverine," it seems increasingly unlikely. Thus far, Marvel Studios' "Blade" movie has been about as cursed as they come, and if you haven't been keeping tabs, here's a quick rundown.
The movie was announced at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019, with Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali taking the stage to confirm he would star. Bassam Tariq was initially on board to direct, but things didn't quite work out. "Blade" replaced its director with "Lovecraft Country" and "White Boy Rick" filmmaker Yann Demange. Then, the seemingly cursed movie lost its director again, with Demange departing the film on what were reportedly amicable terms. This is, of course, to say nothing of the multiple writers attached to this movie throughout its troubled production. Michael Green, Stacy Osei-Kuffour,...

Beau DeMayo has been one of the writers on Marvel’s troubled big screen Blade reboot – and he has pointers on where things are going wrong.
Whilst nothing official has yet been said, there are rumours suggesting that Marvel Studios may finally have found a Blade script that it is happy with. Should that be the case (and we’ll believe that one only when production begins) then it will mark the conclusion of a harrowing pre-production phase for a project which – for Blade fans – probably feels like it could have been far simpler.
After all, it’s not like Marvel Studios is looking to make Citizen Kane. The simplicity of the 1998 original film starring Wesley Snipes was one of its strengths, with the film establishing a foundation that the Marvel Cinematic Universe would eventually build on to achieve unparalleled box office success over dozens of interconnected films.

Deadpool & Wolverine celebrated 20th Century Fox's hit-or-miss Marvel Universe and did so without many of the franchise's original actors. While the Void was packed full of familiar characters, they were largely played by stunt performers.
That saved the threequel's budget from spiralling out of control and gave those actors the chance to shine as members of Cassandra Nova's mutant army.
Today, we have a closer look at Toad and The Blob courtesy of concept artist Jonay Bacallado.
"Toad is a character we have seen in various X-Men movies, including the first ever X-Men movie back in 2000," he explains. "For this version, costume designer Mayes C. Rubeo wanted to introduce a color palette inspired by the Asian giant toad colours. We suggested also ideas for the skin texture mimicking a real toad skin."
Talking about Blob, Bacallado adds, "Blob is one of the mutants who lived in the Void...

Beau DeMayo will likely be best known for working (and being fired) as showrunner on Disney+ animated series X-Men '97, but he also did a pass on the script for an earlier take on Marvel Studios' troubled Blade reboot.
DeMayo has now taken to social media to share some of his concepts for the Daywalker's MCU debut (or what would have been his debut before Wesley Snipes appeared in Deadpool and Wolverine), and, like a lot of fans, he wonders why it's been so difficult for the studio to come up with a compelling premise.
"Take a John Wick movie. Give mobsters fangs. Swap Keanu for Ali, hand him a sword, not a daughter who makes him fret over swinging the hero’s name. Wick cost 20 mill to make. Add 10 mill for vampire/Darkhold magic VFX, you have 30-40 mill Marvel movie."

The episode of What Happened to This Horror Movie? covering Blade: Trinity was Written by Mike Holtz, Narrated by Tyler Nichols, Edited by Paul Bookstaber, Produced by Andrew Hatfield and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
You know that scene in Ted where he’s in the bathtub trying to get Mark Wahlberg to come over because he has the Cheers DVD box set and everyone is talking sh*t about each other during the interviews? Well that’s Friday the 13th documentary Crystal Lake Memories…..but it’s also today’s video about Blade Trinity….where we breakdown a long and twisted story that involves a director hiring a biker gang to protect him from his lead actor, the possible birth of Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, and multiple lawsuits. Thank goodness all this ended up producing a universally loved Blade sequel we can all enjoy for years to come.

Ever since Wesley Snipes debuted as the Vampire Slayer Blade in 1998, the character has become a favorite of many and the movies heralded as some of the best Marvel movies made before the MCU. So fans were genuinely looking up to the film when MCU announced its own Blade movie starring Mahershala Ali.

Announced over 5 years ago, the film is nowhere close to development as it was back then. As per a recent report, it might even be as good as canceled. Amidst these unfortunate turns of events, ousted X-Men ’97 creator Beau DeMayo has a plan for the film, and that is what fans want.

Former WWE wrestler Dave Bautista brought a long-gestating action thriller to theaters after persevering through many delays. The movie “The Killer’s Game” is based on the novel of the same name by Jay Bonansinga. It follows an assassin named Joe Flood who must race against time to call off a hit he hired on himself after receiving a false terminal illness diagnosis.
The film project has been in development for over two decades. As early as 2002, New Line Cinema approached Wesley Snipes to star in the lead role after his success in “Blade II.” However, Snipes left in 2004 when the studio could not lock down a director. Paramount Pictures later got involved and tried to get the movie made with actor Michael Keaton and screenwriter Simon Kinberg, but their effort ended in 2006 with the shutdown of their partners.
Another attempt came in 2018 when Jason Statham nearly took the lead role at STX Films.

Marvel is the behemoth franchise that has over the years established a giant fanbase worldwide. The banner contains a wide array of characters, several storylines, and projects lined up that have fans excited for the next big thing. Unfortunately with great expectation comes great disappointment, and recent delays in upcoming projects have left fans disheartened.
One notable example is the Blade reboot with Mahershala Ali which was planned in 2019 but has not seen the light of the day since. Ali isn’t the only one waiting on the sideline, as another show got the same treatment. Iman Vellani starred in the Ms. Marvel TV show which has been waiting for a second season since its culmination in 2022.

We went into Deadpool & Wolverine expecting the movie to close the door on the Fox-verse. Instead, it celebrated Earth-10005 and set the stage for that world to continue to flourish alongside Earth-616/the Sacred Timeline.
While we'd hoped for cameos, the threequel upped the ante by taking us into the Void before giving Elektra (Jennifer Garner), Blade (Wesley Snipes), Gambit (Channing Tatum), and X-23 (Dafne Keen) a second chance. It felt really special but has got us thinking...which other Earth-10005 heroes and villains deserve a second chance in the MCU?
This could be in an upcoming Multiverse Saga project (which seems most likely) or even in the softly rebooted MCU which is rumoured to be the plan for this shared world post-Avengers: Secret Wars. Hopefully, the names before surprise you!

Halle Berry Hopes To Make Storm Comeback in Future MCU Films - Main Image
Despite Storm's absence in Deadpool & Wolverine, it seems Halle Berry's Storm still has the chance to make her comeback as Ororo Munroe in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as teased by the Academy Award-winning actress.
Halle Berry Teases Potential Storm Comeback in the MCU
While Halle Berry didn't get the chance to reprise her role as the X-Men's Storm in the Deadpool threequel, the Never Let Go star has been quite vocal in expressing her interest in joining the MCU franchise in some other way.
In this case, since the X-Men have officially made their existence known in the comic book franchise, Storm might eventually get her earned spotlight in the future.
When asked to make a statement about whether or not Halle could make Storm return on the big screens in, say, Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars,...

Jason Statham’s name in Hollywood is almost always synonymous with action films. From Guy Ritchie’s Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels to his recent film The Beekeeper, Statham has amazed fans with his well-executed stunts. He is famous in the industry as one of the few actors to perform his own stunts. His stunt skills made him an easy choice for franchises like The Expendables and Fast & Furious.

Oscar Isaac has portrayed Moon Knight in the MCU, a character expected to appear in Secret Wars with most other heroes that have been introduced in the wake of Avengers: Endgame. However, Isaac might be in for some heavy work in Secret Wars the claims of an industry insider are true, owing to the fact that the actor is a part of the two other universes that have confirmed connections to the MCU.

After Wesley Snipes’s controversial run as Blade, the mantle was handed over to Mahershala Ali. Marvel Studios announced a reboot of the franchise, with the actor taking over the character from the Og Blade. Unfortunately, the project has been stuck in development since time immemorial and Michael B. Jordan’s next project might just prove to be a generous sprinkle of salt on Mahershala Ali’s wounds.

The world of superheroes and villains will soon be overtaken by the realm of the supernatural. Marvel has its fair share of things that go bump in the night, Blade being among the top 5 of that list. But Mahershala Ali’s promised film featuring the vampire hunter remains elusive, now more than ever.

It has almost gotten to the point where inspiring sports stories become a parody of themselves, so overrun is the genre with every conceivable variation. But with Unstoppable (not to be confused with the 2004 Wesley Snipes movie or the 2010 Denzel Washington one), you really can’t compare it to anything that has come before, either in terms of what the main subject has achieved in athletics or the obstacles he had to overcome at home.
The film is based on Anthony Robles’ autobiography, and debuting director and Oscar-winning Argo editor William Goldenberg and his team of screenwriters (Eric Champnella & Alex Harris and John HIndman) have accomplished is a nifty balancing act between the harrowing home life of Robles with an abusive stepfather and his extraordinary ability to succeed in wrestling despite having only one leg, an impairment with which he was born. It seems Deadpool and Wolverine almost featured another take on Juggernaut!
The powerful X-Men villain made his live-action debut in The Last Stand, played by Vinnie Jones in a muscle suit. Then, a fully CGI version of the character was introduced in Deadpool 2 to much better effect.
Jones was actually asked to reprise the role for Deadpool and Wolverine, but wasn't thrilled about putting the suit back on for such a short amount of screen-time (understandable), so professional body-builder Aaron Reed was cast as a Juggernaut variant.
Now, concept artist David Masson San Gabriel has revealed that he was asked to come up with a design for a female take on Juggy that ultimately wasn't used for the movie.
This could have worked, but the character ended up being such a small part of the movie (he stands around for a while before getting decapitated by X-23) that it...

After working on The Witcher (he made headlines for saying the creative team hated Andrzej Sapkowski's books), Beau DeMayo looked set to play a big role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
After initially working on Moon Knight, he was tapped to take charge of X-Men '97 as Head Writer and later came on board the Blade movie for a rewrite. However, the scribe parted ways with Marvel Studios on the project and was fired from the animated revival earlier this year.
Things got increasingly messy from there, with claims of sexual misconduct on DeMayo's part and possible racism and homophobia from Disney/Marvel Studios. Now, he's filed a lawsuit seeking to invalidate the non-disparagement provision in his separation agreement.

It wasn’t the action that piqued Dave Bautista’s interest in The Killer’s Game; it was the chance to play a proper romantic lead for the very first time. Like a lot of actors, Bautista is most intrigued by the roles that frighten him, and so the chance to play lovestruck assassin Joe Flood was something he’d been committed to intermittently since 2019. Based on The Killer’s Game novel by Jay Bonansinga, Flood is diagnosed with a neurodegenerative brain condition that leaves him with only months to live, so he takes out a contract on his own life so that the love of his life, Maize (Sofia Boutella), can collect his life insurance policy. The rub is that he was misdiagnosed by three different labs and it’s too late to cancel said contract.

Decades before Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones made headlines by not kissing at the end of "Twisters," another big screen non-kiss was the talk of Hollywood. In the 1993 film "The Pelican Brief," two stars who were skyrocketing to fame shared plenty of screen time and chemistry, but no climactic kiss.
Denzel Washington starred opposite Julia Roberts in the big screen adaptation of John Grisham's legal thriller novel. "The Pelican Brief" was the last film ever written and directed by "Klute" and "All the President's Men" filmmaker Alan J. Pakula, and it was a box office hit despite earning mixed reviews from critics. One point of contention? The lack of lip-locking closure between the two main characters, a decision that would be talked about extensively in the press –- especially once they caught wind of the reason an apparently planned kiss scene got axed.

Invincible gained a notorious reputation for the delays faced by the animated show’s second season. Based on the Robert Kirkman comic of the same name, the show’s second season premiered almost two years after its debut season. Meanwhile, a live-action film based on the comic, which has been stuck in development is facing similar struggles.

During a recent interview, Kirkman spoke about the delays in getting the live-action film off the ground. The disappointing update certainly does not inspire hope of the movie materializing anytime soon. However, the reasons for the delay in a live-action Invicincble adaptation might just make fans go easy on Marvel’s Blade, which seems to be stuck in developmental hell.

The "Blade" franchise is feeling a little cursed these days. The reboot set to star Mahershala Ali keeps gaining and losing directors and feels like it might never actually see the light of day. Meanwhile, it seems like the original Blade, Wesley Snipes, has been relegated to the world of cameos. It's great to see him on "What We Do in the Shadows," of course, hamming it up a bit on the vampire council with some other amazing vampire actors. The response to Snipes' appearance in "Deadpool & Wolverine," though, has been a bit more mixed.

Others felt that it was just another part of a film that was pandering and leaned too hard on meta-references. Regardless of whether you loved seeing the Og Blade back onscreen or felt...
