The 1976 action series "Charlie's Angels" was a massive success for a very simple reason: the lead actresses were dazzling. Yes, the premise was fun, but most of the show's fans will sooner talk about how the original Angels -- Jaclyn Smith, Kate Jackson, and Farrah Fawcett -- were objects of their crushes. The makers of "Charlie's Angels" seemingly spent just as much time filming the Angels running in slow-motion as they did setting up plots or working on character development.
The series followed three recent graduates of the LAPD's police academy who, despite their excellent fighting and crime-stopping skills, are given menial, sexist jobs that do not challenge them. Instead, they pursue a job with a secretive private investigation company, run by a wealthy, off-screen benefactor named Charlie Townsend (John Forsythe). He gives them assignments in secret (Charlie has a lot of enemies) and nicknames them his "Angels."

Priscilla Presley is no stranger to the spotlight. From her high-profile marriage to Elvis Presley to her memorable role as Jane Spencer in The Naked Gun trilogy, she’s left an indelible mark on pop culture. But one role fans may not know she was offered? A Bond Girl. Presley was famously offered the role of Bond Girl Stacey Sutton in A View to a Kill alongside Roger Moore back in 1985, and it was reported that Presley didn't take part in the film due to her commitments to the television series Dallas, with the part ultimately going to Tanya Roberts, who appeared alongside Christopher Walken and Grace Jones.

Demi Moore moved around a lot in her childhood, and her life wasn't wholly rosy. As she's described it, Moore frequently relocated around the U.S., struggling with her mother and her stepfathers, and often finding herself malnourished. When she was 16, Moore dropped out of high school and took a job as a receptionist at 20th Century Fox. She signed a modest modeling contract and was making ends meet. Her next door neighbor was, it turned out, Nastassja Kinski, and the German actor encouraged Moore to take acting classes. She continued to model while working her way into films, making her debut in the 1981 movie "Choices." The following year, Moore appeared in the 3-D monster movie "Parasite."
These were the first two steps in a career that experienced a massive upward trajectory. By 1984, Moore was already playing lead characters in major studio productions.

During the mid-1970s, television producer Aaron Spelling and the writing duo of Ivan Goff and Ben Roberts hit upon the most spectacularly novel idea: Viewers loved watching women solve crimes. The eureka moment occurred in 1974 when the great and ludicrously beautiful Angie Dickinson scored a primetime hit with "Police Woman." While I'd argue Dickinson could've burned up the Nielsen ratings via weekly readings of Russian literature shot at the Bob's Big Boy in Burbank, she was a must-watch sensation as a glamorously attired detective. Though the scripts were rigorously formulaic for a '70s hour-long cop show, Dickinson's showbiz rep attracted a host of top tier guest stars; "Police Woman" didn't have much of a hook, but thanks to its star, it had plenty of sizzle.
It took some prodding (ABC execs Barry Diller and Michael Eisner abhorred Spelling's pitch), but "Charlie's Angels" became the breakout hit of the 1976 season.

When it was released, Spectre struck many a James Bond fan as a disappointment. It was coming on the heels of the phenomenal Skyfall, and even shared a director with that box office juggernaut, and had an odd take on Blofeld. But, there are aspects that work, including the opening and the non-traditional "Bond Girl" role for Monica Bellucci.
While on the promotional tour for Tim Burton's Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Bellucci sat down with Vanity Fair and was asked about a few of her past roles. Considering she was 50 when director Sam Mendes reached out to her, Bellucci thought it would be for the role of M, a role played in Skyfall (and throughout Pierce Brosnan's tenure as well as Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace) by Dame Judi Dench. There was a time when most genre fiction was lumped together as a single collection of unserious literature by both critics and magazines. This is why weird fiction often shared an audience with sword and sorcery (and why writers like Robert E. Howard and H.P. Lovecraft could connect over their stories), with both genres influencing each other as they evolved.
There’s a similar inter-genre connection in the world of film, as many scholars have noticed a pattern where horror filmmakers eventually move onto bigger and more expensive fantasy projects. From Cannibal Holocaust’s Ruggero Deodato directing 1987’s The Barbarians to B-movie maestro Peter Jackson helming the Lord of the Rings trilogy, it seems like the horror genre somehow produces the best fantasy storytellers. However, today I’d like to discuss a particularly strange sword and sorcery flick directed by none other than Phantasm’s Don Coscarelli. Naturally, I’m...

Leia's maternal grandmother, Midge, remains unmentioned in That '90s Show season 2. Tanya Roberts, who played Midge, passed away in 2021, but the show has not addressed her character's absence. Midge's absence could be due to her passing or her lack of commitment to her family; it's strange to ignore her as she's related to two main cast members.
With Leia back at her grandparents' place in That '90s Show season 2, I'm surprised that one family member still hasn't been mentioned. That '90s Show season 2, part two has reunited Leia with her grandparents and has even shown hints of what her life is like back home in Chicago with her parents, Donna and Eric Foreman, cast members of That '70s Show. Warning! This article contains Spoilers for That '90s Show part 2!
That '90s Show hints at Midge Pinciotti's death following actress Tanya Roberts' real-life passing. Kitty's comment implies Midge's fate, but the show hasn't explicitly addressed it. That '90s Show part 3 needs to directly address Midge's fate and its impact on Donna's character.
One line in That 90s Show season 2 suggests that within the sitcoms universe, a beloved original That 70s Show character has passed away. That 90s Show season 2s cast brings back more That 70s Show stars and 90s celebrities for cameos, with Bob Pinciotti (Don Stark) officially moving back to Point Place while Leia Forman briefly gets a job working for Erics former nemesis Mitch Miller (Seth Green). As fun as it is to catch up with these iconic characters in a new decade, That 90s Show has still left the fates of some important original figures ambiguous.

In the late 1970s, horror's slasher boom started thanks to big hits like Tobe Hooper's The Texas Chain Saw Massacre in 1974 and John Carpenter's Halloween in 1978. The fad really took off in the 80s with Friday the 13th and its infinite clones, but stuck in the middle was a little horror movie from 1979 called Tourist Trap. Starring The Rifleman's Chuck Connors and Tanya Roberts from Charlie's Angels, Tourist Trap looks like just another slasher on the surface with yet another plot about a creepy guy in a mask killing young women. It only takes five minutes into the runtime, however, to discover that this slasher isn't one at all. Instead, it is a truly frightening horror film that includes telekinesis and the creepiest mannequins you'll ever discover. And it did it all with a PG rating.

I’ve always felt that the 1979 horror film Tourist Trap (watch it Here) deserves a lot more respect and attention than it gets – and that star Chuck Connors (best known for The Rifleman) deserved the “genre icon” career he was aiming for when he signed on for the movie. Barbara Crampton is someone who did achieve a genre icon career, and she clearly believes there was something great going on with Tourist Trap, because our friends at Bloody Disgusting have learned that she is producing a remake of the film!

We are still in the heat of summer, and that means there’s still some time for the pool, camping, and leisurely road trips across the country. If you’re inclined to take to the open road, may I suggest sticking to major highways and leaving dusty backroads alone. You don’t wanna end up like the kids in either David Schmoeller’s Tourist Trap or Jaume Collet-Serra’s House of Wax (2005). You’re smarter than that. Sure, there’s a compelling case to be made for swapping out hardtop for gravel and dirt. Perhaps you want to witness relics of the past for yourself – abandoned towns and roadside barbeque pits, or even the scarce side-show attraction (if those still even exist). But don’t be a fool. If there’s anything to be learned here, it’s that disaster awaits around the next bend.

That ‘90s Show will see the return of another popular character from That ‘70s Show: Bob Pinciotti (Don Stark), and this makes Red (Kurtwood Smith) and Kitty’s (Debra Jo Rupp) roles in the series even funnier. As such, That ‘90s Show will see the return of some of That ‘70s Show most memorable characters, but its main focus will be on a new generation of teenagers getting involved in all types of problems.

Nostalgia operates on 20-year cycles — that's why the late 1990s produced a series aptly titled, "That '70s Show." Many supporting characters and guest stars were, naturally, '70s cultural icons. Tommy Chong repurposed his comic persona as Leo, a former hippie and owner of the local photo shop. Dwayne Johnson guest-starred as his own father, wrestler Rocky Johnson, while Billy Dee Williams played a "Star Wars" obsessed preacher.
One of these more prominent faces, at least during the first three seasons, was the late Tanya Roberts as Midge Pinciotti, the absent-minded mother of Donna (Laura Prepon). It's likely that Roberts' role as...

SAG-AFTRA’s unclaimed residuals fund has grown to roughly $76 million – up 60% from $48 million six years ago. According to the union, the fund now contains 124,000 separate accounts for members and others, living and dead, that it can’t locate. That’s up from 96,000 accounts in 2016.
“The funds may be unclaimed for a variety of reasons including a bad address or as a result of mail returned for other reasons; unresolved estate issues, or the funds may be in trust for an inactive or dissolved loan out corporation,” a spokesperson for the union said. “Most often, residuals may be waiting for a recipient or their agent to formalize a change of address or submit the appropriate paperwork to claim the funds. Larry King, Norm Macdonald, Michael K. Williams and no fewer than three cast members of The Mary Tyler Moore Show were among the stars remembered during this year’s Emmy In Memoriam segment, as the photos of those we lost scrolled by to the tune of Leon Bridges’ lovely “River.”
73rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards: Deadline’s Full Coverage
A few names were left out — most notably Michael Constantine, who won an Emmy in 1970 for his performance as Principal Seymour Kaufman in Room 222 — but the list nonetheless was a somber reminder of the toll taken by 2021. As Bridges and Jon Batiste performed live, the images of such greats as Charles Grodin and Christopher Plummer unspooled, along with beloved icons like Jeopardy!’s Alex Trebek and Cicely Tyson (The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman) and such generational touchstones as Dawn Wells (Gilligan’s Island) and Billie Hayes (H.R. Even though Sunday’s SAG Awards ceremony will be shortened to just one pre-taped hour on TNT and TBS, the special In Memoriam segment will still be a highlight. Since the 2020 event aired on January 19, it will be over 14 months until the one on April 4. That means even more actors, actresses and members of SAG/AFTRA will hopefully be honored than the 40 people in the tribute last year.
Chadwick Boseman died last August and is a four-time nominee for the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday. Welcome back to Fantasizing About Fantasy Films! Written and narrated by Jessica Dwyer, in this very special episode we look back at an eighties cult classic, The Beastmaster, starring Marc Singer and the late Tanya Roberts. Directed by Don Coscarelli, Singer stars as Dar, the titular Beastmaster, who, like Doctor Doolittle, can talk to the animals, but it's way, way cooler here. A box-office disappointment upon its release, The Beastmaster found new life on cable TV, with HBO being dubbed…...

Film and TV star who found fame as one of Charlie’s Angels and was a Bond girl opposite Roger Moore in A View to a Kill
Tanya Roberts, who has died aged 65 of sepsis, was already a film and television star when she was cast as a “Bond girl”, Stacey Sutton, opposite Roger Moore in A View to a Kill (1985). Moore was 58 at the time, and looking somewhat creaky as he scaled the Golden Gate bridge during his final outing in the role of James Bond, while Roberts was 30 and having the time of her life commandeering a fire engine during a chase through San Francisco, albeit with a little help from bluescreen technology.
She was second choice for the part after the producers were unable to secure Priscilla Presley. This hardly fazed Roberts, who had already made her name stepping into another actor’s shoes when she was cast...

On Tuesday, Roberts' publicist, Mike Pingel, confirmed that the actress died on Monday due to a urinary tract infection that spread to her kidney, gallbladder, liver and blood stream.

Roberts’ publicist, Mike Pingel, confirmed her death to TheWrap via statement. According to the statement, the 65-year-old’s cause of death was from a urinary tract infection that spread to her kidney, gallbladder, liver and then bloodstream.
