Do you read Sutter Cane? You’ll be able to soon!
Echo On Publications has announced In the Mouth of Madness, a meta novelization of John Carpenter‘s cosmic horror film.
It follows John Trent, an insurance investigator hired to locate Cane himself after the author’s sudden disappearance. What begins as a missing person case quickly turns into something far more terrifying. Trent discovers that Cane’s stories may not just reflect reality, they may shape it.
Although credited to the fictitious Cane, the book is written by Echo On editor-in-chief Christian Francis, who has authored novelizations of Wishmaster, Session 9, and Vamp.
“In the Mouth of Madness is not just a book,” said Francis. “It’s an experience… a mix of sanity and delusion. It’s Cane at his most unhinged: darker, hungrier, and far more dangerous than anything he’s written before. And while we’re proud to publish it,...

Did You Know Robert Pattinson Once Slept With Knives After Watching A Horror Movie? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Robert Pattinson might be Batman on-screen but in real life? He is not so fearless. The British superstar admitted he’s become too sentient of horror flicks. So much so that he once fell asleep clutching knives after watching one. During a chat with Mickey 17 director Bong Joon Ho for GQ, Pattinson revealed that horror films freak him out now.
“I used to watch a lot of dark stuff when I was younger and think ‘yeah, this is cool.’ And now, I’m too sensitive,” the actor said. “It’s strange, you’d think it would go the other way round. As you get older, you become less frightened of these [films]. I can’t watch horror movies anymore.” The fear got real when he had to watch a horror film before meeting a director.

Cinderella’s stepsisters mutilating their feet so they can fit into slippers, a heartbroken mermaid taking her own life, Red Riding Hood unknowingly cannibalizing her grandmother — these and other upsetting details tend to be omitted from modernizations of classic fairy tales. This kind of watering-down, often called “Disneyfication” for obvious reasons, may be seen as a problematic practice, but as it happens, the commercial and sterile variants only make their darker counterparts more effective.
One such case is 1997’s Snow White: A Tale of Terror, a most aberrant fairy tale adaptation.
Fairy tales and suchlike are eternal in show business, yet in and after the 1990s they were especially prolific, due in large part to Disney’s enviable success with the model. And it wasn’t just animated adaptations getting the greenlight either; live-action takes were also popular. However, Michael Cohn’s flesh-and-blood treatment of the always-fashionable “Snow White” story...

The original Jurassic Park trilogy is heading to Hulu. The first three entries in Universal's fan-favorite dinosaur action franchise will be added to the Disney-owned streaming service at the start of next month.
Beginning April 1, Hulu subscribers will be able to stream Jurassic Park (1993) and its first two sequels, 1997's The Lost World: Jurassic Park and 2001's Jurassic Park III. The first movie is based on the 1990 novel of the same name by Michael Crichton, following a group of visitors as they struggle to survive and escape Isla Nublar — home of Jurassic Park — after a catastrophic power failure frees the dinosaurs from captivity, allowing them to roam free. Jurassic Park was a massive success upon release, becoming the highest-grossing film at the time with a global haul of $978.1 million.

Divorce is hard under the best of circumstances. Though the dissolving marriage may be toxic, you’re still saying goodbye to an envisioned life and a future you now know will never be. This legal breakup often means untangling shared households, identities, and lingering trauma. And it can be especially difficult for children of the relationship.
No horror film explores this particular experience like Andrzej Żuławski’s Possession. Banned for many years in the UK, this distressing film packs a spectrum of powerful emotions into the story of two young parents on the brink of divorce.

Creator Steven Knight has sent a handful of characters into the bleak midwinter through every season of "Peaky Blinders," but even he admits that there were some he wished he could have kept around a little longer.
In an interview with Esquire during a live watch-along of the season 5 finale, the showrunner of the beloved period drama shared a few select names of stars he'd have preferred to have held on to. One name at the top of the list was Aberama Gold, played by Aidan Gillen. Appearing in season 4, the hitman hired by Tommy to eliminate Luca Changretta (Adrien Brody) became close with the Shelby family after getting engaged to Polly (Helen McRory), only to be stabbed to death during an ambush by the Ira. Looking back, Knight felt Gold was made of sterner stuff. "I should have kept [Aberama] alive; I could have just wounded him."

Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park has become a cult classic in more ways than one. While the series still lives on through Scarlett Johansson’s upcoming Jurassic World Rebirth, the essence of the original series cannot be replicated. Spielberg has also walked away from the franchise, handing the reins to other directors who are trying to imitate the same level of timelessness.

Fans still find themselves revisiting Spielberg’s 1993 classic, even though the film was released more than three decades ago, just because every aspect of that film is perfect. However, many may not know the true levels of mastery that the director achieved when he was making the film, like him bringing a legend out of retirement just to play a villain.
Richard Attenborough was done with acting before Jurassic Park
Richard Attenborough was one of the most respected and successful members of the film industry.

If there's anyone who knows how to bring a video game to life on the big screen, it's director Paul W.S. Anderson. Not only has he helmed six Resident Evil movies over the course of his career, but he also directed 1995's Mortal Kombat, and 2020's Monster Hunter, which was based on the popular series of games by Capcom. Now he's at it again with a new adaptation of House of the Dead, which he says is going to be something very "different" for him.
Speaking with Variety to promote his latest release, In the Lost Lands, Anderson touched a little on House of the Dead, which is the third adaptation of the action horror game franchise following Uwe Boll's 2003 version, and the direct-to-dvd sequel helmed by Michael Hurst in 2006. Anderson revealed that not only is filming expected to get underway this year, but that the movie is going...

Peaky Blinders, the show which ran for six seasons on BBC in the UK and is streaming on Netflix in the US, will soon be coming back to screens. With the movie announced in December 2023 as a follow-up to the series, titled The Immortal Man, fans have been clamoring for details for the return of their favorite Brummie-based criminals to the screen.
After months of production updates and casting announcements of returning and new characters, series creator Steven Knight has given fans some major updates on the progress of the film. Firstly, that it will have a full theatrical release and, secondly, according to Knight, the first edit is "mind blowingly good." Knight seems pretty sure of this too, as he told The Playlist while speaking about his show A Thousand Blows.
"It was never promoted massively, but people just found it and told each other about it," he said of the show.

Everyone's favorite street gang from Peaky Blinders is getting the respect it deserves, at last. The acclaimed BBC series (that many Americans saw thanks to Netflix) was last seen on screens all the way back in 2022, and since then, fans have been clamoring for more. Though the sixth season was also confirmed to be its last, creator Steven Knight spent most of 2024 hard at work on a cinematic sequel to the Cillian Murphy-starring show. And now we know that not only is the release of that movie nigh, it's going to get a theatrical release, too.
While speaking with The Playlist's TV podcast, Bingeworthy, Knight announced that the "mind-blowingly good" movie will end up on the big screen before it hits the stream scene. It's an exciting, though not fully anticipated move, given the fact that it is a co-production with Netflix. But thanks to the show's incredibly large...

"Peaky Blinders" single-handedly resurrected the newsboy cap as a menswear item. It also delivered a long, uncensored look at the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder in men who had served in some of the most unforgiving conditions of World War I, and lived during an era where people were mostly expected to walk off things like mental health issues. Oh, and it was a very good period gangster drama that wasn't afraid to go to some truly uncompromising places and had an absolutely stellar cast at its disposal.
To this day, the show's stellar theme song ("Red Right Hand" by Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds) evokes images of Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) riding through the dirty streets of Birmingham in 1919, and the terrors that followed him like a dark cloud -- or, as he personally thought, a curse -- wherever he went. No official order is needed to urge fans of great drama and action to watch Peaky Blinders, whether you’re new to the series or getting reacquainted ahead of the upcoming feature film.
Created by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Steven Knight (Maria and All the Light We Cannot See), Peaky Blinders takes place in Birmingham, England, in the wake of World War I, and follows the Peaky Blinders street gang, led by Shelby family patriarch Tommy Shelby (Oscar winner Cillian Murphy). For six seasons, Tommy and the rest of the Shelby clan took extreme measures to expand their criminal footprint, all while dealing with powerful fictional allies and true historical events.
Murphy, Helen McCrory, Paul Anderson, and Finn Cole helped anchor Peaky Blinders throughout, but Tom Hardy, Annabelle Wallis, Sam Neill, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Sam Claflin, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Adrien Brody were among the decorated actors to have memorable runs on the series.

“Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight is quite pleased with the sneak-peakys he’s seen of the sequel film, which will premiere globally on Netflix a few years removed from the show’s sixth and final season.
Production on the “Peaky Blinders” movie, written by Knight and directed by Tom Harper, concluded on December 13, 2024.
“We’re putting it together now,” Knight said Tuesday, February 18 on BBC One morning show “BBC Breakfast” (via Variety). “I would say this — wouldn’t I? — but it’s fantastic. We’ve got the best, I think, the best British actors all in one place.”
“The stuff that I’m watching — the rushes, the assemblies — no one will be disappointed. It is quite an incredible thing,” he continued. “It’s a very fitting way to end this part of the ‘Peaky’ story.”
Then again, as Knight himself pointed out, he may be a bit biased.

Romance and action may seem like separate genres, but the truth is they regularly go hand in hand. Most action films see their characters thrown into dangerous and fast-paced situations and, as it turns out, nothing brings people closer together, quite like a near-death experience.
While the genre has seen plenty of heroes 'get the girl' by saving damsels in distress, the best action couples are composed of two people who are strong, smart, and capable in their own right. While these people may initially hate each other or even be outright enemies, by the time the credits roll, their journey has taught them to respect one another and helped them to develop feelings.

The Jurassic Park franchise has brought to the table a lot more than just some entertaining storylines, nail-biting plot twists, and stunning action sequences over the years. Besides focusing on those massive beasts, it also established what might be deemed a rather unusual romance in today’s day and age: The love affair between Sam Neill and Laura Dern in the very first flick.
Dern and Neill. | Credits: Jurassic Park / Universal Pictures.
Back then, when the film hit the screens in the early 1990s, looking at the respective love story felt like nothing out of the usual despite the 20-year age gap between the actors and their characters. But as time progressed, even Neill and Dern couldn’t deny that what felt like “completely appropriate” back then was not appreciated by all fans, as the pair themselves recalled.

Jurassic World Rebirth has a scene from Michael Crichton's book that was cut from the original movie

Today is a day for dinosaurs! Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment have just unleashed the first trailer for Jurassic World Rebirth, the seventh installment in the long-running franchise about dinosaurs chomping up humans who too foolhardy to think, "hey, maybe we shouldn't resurrect long dead creatures to sell theme park tickets." I've had the trailer on loop for the better part of the day, and despite some initial misgivings about this movie existing at all, the hype is starting to get me.
It helps that Jurassic World Rebirth has a really strong creative team behind it who seem to be genuinely fired up about the movie. Director Gareth Edwards is a long-time fan of the franchise who has made an undeniable mark on sci-fi filmmaking with movies like Godzilla (2014), Star Wars: Rogue One and The Creator. Vanity Fair published an extensive preview of Rebirth which includes some telling quotes about...

When director Steven Spielberg unleashed “Jurassic Park” on audiences in 1993, the sci-fi blockbuster quickly became the highest-grossing film ever at the time – and created a franchise that’s still running today.
With six films in total, the “Jurassic” franchise spans nearly three decades, with four different directors putting their stamps on what the world would look like if dinosaurs walked alongside humans.
Spielberg’s initial adaptation of the Michael Crichton novel showcased visual effects that were groundbreaking at the time, and each successive film in the franchise has attempted to one-up and/or recapture the magical mix of awe and terror that’s so effectively pervasive in the original movie.
With “Jurassic World Rebirth,” a brand new reboot of the franchise, hitting theaters this summer, there’s no time like the present to revisit the franchise. Below, we’ve put together a handy list of where every “Jurassic” movie is currently streaming.

It's no secret that the past three Jurassic World movies have been a bit divisive among fans. Starting with 2015's Jurassic World, the new trilogy starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard moved far away from the core formula of the original movie by having dinosaurs gradually make their way out into the world at large, where they caused all sorts of chaos. Universal capped off that series with Jurassic World Dominion, a huge crossover movie which saw the return of original Jurassic Park stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum. Since Dominion was marketed as the "conclusion of the Jurassic era," it felt like it could be a proper capstone to the series.
It was and it wasn't. Yes, Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard's characters are seemingly on the shelf along with other franchise alums, but Universal is powering ahead with a new Jurassic World film due out this summer.

It’s been less than three years since the release of Jurassic World Dominion, but you can’t keep a good (or even an increasingly not-great) franchise down. And the new trailer for Jurassic World Rebirth can at least promise us Scarlett Johansson as a badass covert operative and Jonathan Bailey as a glasses-wearing dinosaur expert.
The new film is set five years after Dominion, as a team hunting for genetic samples heads into one of the few tropical regions on Earth where dinosaurs still roam.
Jurassic World Rebirth is the seventh film in the Jurassic series, which began in 1993 with Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park. The most recent film, Dominion, seemed to wrap up a number of key character stories, which is why previous franchise cast members Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Chris Pratt don’t seem to be on the cast list for Rebirth.

It's been just two and a half years since "Jurassic World Dominion" brought the latest "Jurassic" trilogy to a close, but it's already time for a new era full of dinosaurs and humans trying to co-exist. Universal Pictures has now revealed the first trailer for this summer's "Jurassic World Rebirth." As the title implies, this is viewed as a fresh start for the franchise, complete with new human characters and a new director -- and yes, new dinosaurs. You can watch the trailer for yourself above.
The director in question is Gareth Edwards of "Godzilla" and "Rogue One" fame, who seems perfect for the "Jurassic" franchise. Noticeably absent are any familiar faces, including Chris Pratt's Owen Grady or Sam Neill's Alan Grant. Instead, Universal has lined up a new, all-star cast led by Scarlett Johansson ("Black Widow") as Zora Bennett. Even though there is a lot of new stuff on the table here,...

Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali and Jonathan Bailey face no shortage of peril in the first trailer for Jurassic World Rebirth.
Universal Pictures released the promo for the dinosaur-focused franchise’s new film that hits theaters July 2, 2025. Director Gareth Edwards’ movie also stars Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, Audrina Miranda, Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvain and Ed Skrein.
In Jurassic World Rebirth, only a limited number of dinosaurs remain and reside in specialized biospheres, and three of these creatures hold the key to a potentially life-saving drug. Covert operations expert Zora Bennett (Johansson) attempts to secure the genetic material from the dinosaurs but ends up stranded with a civilian family on an island that holds a secret being kept from humanity for decades.
The new feature takes place five years after the events of filmmaker Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World Dominion, the franchise’s previous installment that hit theaters...

'Jurassic World Rebirth' director Gareth Edwards wanted the new movie to return to it's "horror" roots. The 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' filmmaker has swapped outer space for dinosaurs in his latest project, bringing Scarlett Johansson onboard to lead the cast in the latest addition to the franchise - and he's admitted he wanted to make the movie scarier than previous installments because the 1993 original terrified him as a child. He told Vanity Fair magazine: "'Jurassic Park' [the original] is a horror film in the witness protection program. Most people don’t think of it like that. "We all went to see it as kids. But I was scared s*******, to be honest, when I was at the cinema watching the T. rex attack. "It’s one of the most well-directed scenes in cinema history, so the bar’s really high to come on board and try and do this.

Today is officially a big news day for the most annoying person you know. While most other blockbusters tend to take over the spotlight, from galaxies far away to godlike superheroes and everything in between, let us never forget that there exists a passionate and extremely nerdy fanbase obsessed with the coolest movie monsters of them all: dinosaurs. The recently-completed "Jurassic World" trilogy may have put a slight damper on things for us -- in case you have chosen to forget, the critically-derided "Dominion" decided to spend an unseemly amount of its runtime on a plague of giant locusts, for some reason -- but we're back and ready for more kaiju-sized punishment. The franchise shows no signs of slowing down, and for once that doesn't sound like a threat.

Playing the role of 007 is a big deal. In fact, just look at how the fans react whenever an actor's name is associated with playing James Bond. It's the same as whenever anyone is linked to the part of Superman, Batman, or Spider-Man, and everyone -- and we mean, everyone -- has an opinion over who would be the best actor for the gig. Needless to say, the hills of the internet become alive with the sound of flame wars.
While the selection of 007s on screen has been terrific across every James Bond movie, there have been a few close calls throughout the years that could have been excellent replacements too. That isn't to say that these picks would be infinitely better than the final actors chosen, but they would have certainly shaken -- not stirred -- the viewer's curiosity at the very least. After all, who wouldn't want to see what Henry Cavill,...

Originally conceived as a sci-fi thriller with philosophical undertones, Species emerged as one of 1995’s weirdest monster movies.
The early 90s digital effects revolution birthed many monsters. Sam Neill and Laura Dern were menaced by velociraptors in the ground-breaking Jurassic Park in 1993. Tom Sizemore and Penelope Ann Miller were chased around a museum by a rhino-like behemoth in The Relic (1996). Samuel L Jackson was rudely interrupted mid-monologue by an intellectual shark in Deep Blue Sea (1999).
Few monster movies were as eclectically cast or as zany as 1995’s Species. Somehow, director Roger Donaldson managed to convince such acting greats as Ben Kingsley, Forest Whitaker and Alfred Molina to appear as members of a specialist team on the trail of a randy human-alien hybrid monster (Natasha Henstridge) seducing assorted men in Los Angeles.

Considering how many different places Hollywood makes movies about, they sure don’t like to leave home very often. Movie filming locations are, like, 80 percent L.A., 15 percent Toronto and a handful of European castles. That means it’s inevitable that locations will get reused, even in wildly different movies.

Or in the world at large, I suppose, considering that the last entry, Jurassic World Dominion, saw dinosaurs get out and repopulate planet Earth. Kind of. Because after they repopulated, people just stuck most of them in a nature preserve so that the movie could remind people of other entries in the franchise.
Now, another Jurassic World movie is coming, and it's best if you don't think too hard about it. If it sounds like I'm particularly salty about this, it's because I am. Before we talk about why, check out this new image that Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment released today, showing off the two leads of Jurassic World Rebirth — that's Scarlett Johansson as skilled covert operations expert Zora Bennett and Jonathan Bailey as paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis...

Critics once called it “too vulgar for arthouse, too pretentious for grindhouse.” A body horror film that’s not really horror, the most depressing break-up movie, a socio-political drama that ends in apocalyptic hysteria. It is hard to believe that this is all contained into one film. The most bizarre psychological thriller you can lay your eyes on is a horrifying and captivating film that oozes chaos and defies categorization: Andrzej Zulawski’s 1981 cult film, Possession.
Zulawski was a Polish film director born in Soviet Ukraine but moved to France after his film The Devil was banned by the Polish government and landed him in jail. His next film was again halted by authorities, causing him to lose his right to...

The T-Birds. The Pink Ladies. The Warriors. The Teletubbies. Throughout history, film and television have homed an array of intimidating gangs, but perhaps the most recent to have caught the world's attention are the Peaky Blinders. Led by Cillian Murphy in Steven Knight's award-winning period drama (which broke the television production mold), the show is inspired by a real gang in the early 20th Century (although Knight approached the series like an old-school Western). The drama stars Murphy as Thomas Shelby, a devoted family man and feared head of the titular gang who, for six seasons and nine years, has dodged the law and the lawless in equal measure, dancing with death on more than one occasion along the way.
"Peaky Blinders" has already attracted talent like Sam Neill, Adrien Brody, and Tom Hardy over the course of its almost decade-long run, with Oscar-nominee Barry Keoghan now set to...

Although Grace Shelby only stuck around for three seasons of the BBC’s landmark crime drama Peaky Blinders, she left an indelible mark on her husband, Tommy. The pair began as the best of enemies, with Annabelle Wallis’ character surveilling the Shelby family as an agent of the British state. They soon became lovers, however, with Grace preoccupying Tommy Shelby’s thoughts even in scenes where she doesn’t appear.
Even after Grace dies in season 3 of Peaky Blinders, her memory continues to occupy Tommy throughout the show's remaining episodes.
One particular scene in season 2 of the show demonstrates that Grace and Tommy were always meant to be together, even before their eventual marriage. They may have been thousands of miles apart at the time, with Grace actually married to another man in New York, but Tommy was fully aware of her situation. When confronted by Major Campbell, the villain...
