Every now and then, a true cinematic classic flies so far under the radar that its destiny to become a cult favorite is clear right from the start. Such was the case with the 2016 mockumentary musical comedy Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, which stars Saturday Night Live alumnus and Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Andy Samberg as Conner "Kid Conner" Friel, a pop star struggling to go solo after being part of the rap group phenomenon The Style Boyz.
Grossly missed by many upon release, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping has now landed on Prime Video, and we urge you to either discover or rediscover this modern comedy masterpiece. Directed by The Lonely Island members Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone and written by and starring fellow The Lonely Island member Andy Samberg, as well as Taccone, and Schaffer, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping was co-produced by Judd Apatow and Rodney Rothman.

Prime Video's hit Reacher is in the middle of its third season. As with the previous seasons, the new outing brings a host of new main characters. One of these is rug importer Zachary Beck, who offers Reacher a job after he saves Beck's son Richard. Beck is played by Anthony Michael Hall, who's enjoyed a nearly 40-year career in the industry.

Sometimes silence is the most powerful way to speak. That quote hits home, doesn’t it? We’ve always believed there’s something strangely powerful about a person who knows when to simply walk away. Michelle Trachtenberg, the actress best known for playing the drama-filled Georgina Sparks in Gossip Girl, has certainly embraced that ethos, and her response to a teen fan’s comment about Blake Lively proves it.

Life can sometimes feel like it’s stacking the odds against you, but the trick is to keep grinding, to never let up. That relentless spirit is exactly what Michelle Trachtenberg carried with her throughout her career. From her first steps into the spotlight at age three on The Adventures of Pete & Pete, to leaving a lasting impression on fans through iconic roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl, she faced both triumphs and hurdles along the way.
Though we no longer have the privilege of her vibrant energy—she passed away far too soon at just 39—the legacy she carved on screen is one that will stand the test of time.

Near the end of the 50th anniversary Saturday Night Live special on Sunday night, original cast member Garrett Morris sat on a chair at the show’s primary stage (a.k.a. home base) to introduce “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” a 1978 SNL short that imagined an elderly John Belushi as the last survivor of that first group of Not Ready for Primetime Players. Before the film rolled, Morris quipped that when he joined the cast in 1975, “I had no idea I would be required to do so many reunion shows.

We’re celebrating 50 years of “Saturday Night Live”! All this week, we’re digging into the late-night comedy institution with new stories, including lists, essays, interviews, and more.
The most recent “Saturday Night Live” sketch to go viral — or at least, the most recent one that multiple of this writer’s own friends sent to him — was the type of joke that you could easily find by scouring gay stan Twitter. On a December 2024 episode of the venerated sketch comedy series, Jane Wickline popped onto Weekend Update to sing a song about Sabrina Carpenter. Or, as she amusingly put it beforehand, a song in which she is Sabrina Carpenter bemoaning how nobody is creating lesbian rumors about her like her peers Olivia Rodrigo or Taylor Swift.

For the last several decades, Saturday Night Live has been faced with questions of its future. While so many people claim not to watch or call it unfunny, everyone still talks about it and sketches still go viral. Some feel the show has run its course, the sketches need work, or members of the cast need to go. Nothing ever comes of it because Saturday Night Live is engrained as part of the fabric of late-night television that no one really ever expects to end. But there’s one point in time when Saturday Night Live almost did get canceled, and arguably should have been. The show was hanging by a thread, and instead of a complete cast shake-up saving the show, it led to a year that has become known as the “weird season.”

Timothy Olyphant, the star of films like Scream 2 and Rock Star, along with TV shows like Justified and Deadwood, was once featured as a guest star in the NBC sitcom The Office. But per his comments, he's not quite happy with his work on the show. He calls his character "a little bit of a disappointment."
Per the report by Cinema Blend, Olyphant visited Angela Kinsey and Jenna Fischer on their podcast Office Ladies. Kinsey and Fischer played series regulars Angela and Pam, and in their show, they go through each episode of the series. A few performers from The Office have shown up in several episodes, and when it was Olyphant's turn, he recalled the experience of working on the series. While he makes it sound like an easy gig, it appears he's not proud of his role:

On October 11th 1975, Bill and Hillary Clinton were married in their home. It was the 25th anniversary of CBS' system for colour television being licenced. Joan Cusack celebrated her 13th birthday, Luke Perry his 9th. That evening, from NBC's studio 8H at Rockefeller Center a handful of words that would change the face of comedy were heard on national television for the first time.
"Live, from New York, it's Saturday Night!"
Since then presidential hopefuls and former vice-presidents have hosted. NBC would later buy the name 'Saturday Night Live' from the other of the three major US broadcasters, ABC. Joan Cusack would be a cast-member for a year, Perry a host. Those studios would give their name to a show that showcased many of the talents who'd been through 30 Rock.

Marvel icon Robert Downey Jr. has revealed one of his famous friends helped him land an early job on Saturday Night Live. Downey was part of SNL’s cast during its 11th season, from 1985 to 1986.
The story of Downey’s single disastrous season on SNL is told in the new Peacock docu-series SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night, where producer Lorne Michaels admits he “perhaps went too young” in casting Downey and Anthony Michael Hall for his return to the show in 1985. SNL’s 11th season was dogged by negative reviews, leading to Michaels dropping Downey and most of the cast before the next season.

Pixar has been captivating audiences with its heartwarming feature films for an impressive thirty years. With new Pixar movies being made every year, the iconic studio never ceases to dazzle its viewers, no matter how old they are. Of course, part of what makes Pixar movies so popular revolves around who they are made for. While the films primarily target young audiences, the filmmakers carefully craft each film so they can be enjoyed just as much by adults.
In fact, many scenes in the best Pixar films actually resonate much more deeply when watching them as an adult. This is particularly true when the movies delve into more emotional topics. While the stories and dialogue are generally simple enough for youthful audiences to understand what is going on, the deeper messages often pack a much stronger punch for older viewers. From the moment Morgan Neville was approached about making a documentary tied to the 50th anniversary of “Saturday Night Live,” he knew that he didn’t want to capture this comedy staple in a traditional way.
“The idea of doing 50 years of ‘SNL’ in 90 minutes, it’s going to be a greatest hits clip show, which is not interesting to me,” Neville, the executive producer behind Peacock’s ‘SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night,” told TheWrap. “I always feel like the fool’s errand of a lot of storytelling is trying to be completist. Everything is reductive, but filmmaking is particularly reductive.”
Instead of the predictable, Neville opted for a format that was “more irreverent and risk-taking,” an ethos that has always defined NBC’s crown jewel. To do that, Neville recruited four of his favorite directors — Robert Alexander, Neil Berkeley, Marshall Curry and Jason Zeldes — to each direct their own distinct episode.

The Toy Story saga isn't over yet as Toy Story 5 is on its way, and while much is unknown about the upcoming movie's story, a tease from one of its actors suggests Buzz is stepping into the spotlight. Pixar's multi-billion-dollar franchise kicked off in 1995 with the premiere of Toy Story, the animation studio's first feature film. Since then, Pixar has released five movies in the franchise, including three sequels and one spin-off. Since Toy Story is so popular (and brings in a lot of revenue), the studio is developing a fourth sequel featuring the return of Woody and Buzz Lightyear.
Toy Story 5, starring Tom Hanks as Woody and Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, is scheduled to be released in theaters on June 19, 2026.

It's not uncommon for actors to have regrets, and for Hugh Grant, that applies to one film the veteran actor appeared in three decades ago. He's actually so unhappy with his performance in the movie that he says he cannot even allow his wife to see it.
In 1995, Grant starred in Nine Months. In the romcom, Grant plays a man whose longtime partner (Julianne Moore) becomes pregnant, despite her use of birth control, giving him about nine months to prepare for the unexpected addition. Grant has never been happy with his work in the movie, and in a recent interview with Variety, it was made clear he's still no fan. When the movie was brought up, Grant screamed "as if startled," the title alone making him uneasy. He clarified that it's just his own performance that he doesn't like, but be that as it may, he wouldn't be comfortable with letting his wife watch it.

While the world is mostly full of nightmares, and looking at any website or social media app that contains the news these days feels a little like cracking open the Ark of the Covenant, there is at least one good thing happening on the planet: two of the former child stars from Richard Linklater’s School of Rock just got married.
The 2003 comedy, of course, tells the story of Dewey Finn (played by Jack Black) an out of work rocker who lies his way into a substitute teacher job at an elite private school, and convinces the kids to secretly form a band with him.
Apart from the fact that Black’s character probably should have been thrown in jail and Sarah Silverman’s supposedly villainous character was 100 percent in the right, School of Rock is a delightful film that mostly holds up today. If you watch those kids playing...

While many thought that Toy Story 4 could serve as a good enough conclusion to the series, Disney and Pixar have other plans. Toy Story 5 was announced at D23 in California last year, along with story details that teased the toys' struggle with their owner Bonnie's love of technology. It seems that this latest Toy Story film is being made as a way to reflect the current generation of young people and their tendency toward playing with a tablet, as opposed to a toy.

Some of Saturday Night Live’s most notable alums share cherished memories in the trailer for Peacock’s four-part docuseries SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night.
Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Dana Carvey, Jimmy Fallon, Amy Poehler, Tracy Morgan and Andy Samberg are among the famous former castmembers who appear in the promo for the project that streams Jan. 16. Jessie’s got a big trouble, she needs help, so it’s a really cool thing."As well as Allen and Cusack, 'Toy Story 5' will see the return of Tom Hanks...

Toy Story franchise isn’t ready to say goodbye just yet. After that tear-jerking, fervent farewell in Toy Story 4, we all thought we had seen the last of Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the gang. But Pixar has a surprise in store—Toy Story 5 is officially on the way! Yes, the beloved toys are coming back for another expedition, and we couldn’t be more elated.
Toy Story (Credits: Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures)
The Toy Story series has been with us for decades, ever since the first movie hit theaters in 1995. It was Pixar’s very first feature-length film, and it completely changed the world of animation. From that moment on, Pixar became the gold standard for animated movies, telling stories that were not only for kids but for adults too.

The charming, mysterious, and all together ooky Addams Family has captivated audiences for decades - dating back to Charles Addams' popular single-panel cartoons that appeared in The New Yorker magazine beginning in 1938. Through the decades, several filmmakers have taken the unconventional family to the screen and next month, Barry Sonenfeld's Addams Family Values (arguably one of the greatest sequels ever made), will make its way to Max.
While sequels don't generally have the reputation of critically surpassing their predecessors, Addams Family Values is a different story. When it came to critical reception, the 1993 sequel fared better than Sonnenfeld's The Addams Family (1991). Addams Family Values boasts a 75% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, an 8% increase from the 1991 original. These higher marks were largely due to iconic performances by Christina Ricci (as Wednesday Addams) and Joan Cusack as Uncle Fester's manipulative girlfriend, Debbie. Addams Family Values begins streaming on Max on January 1st.

It’s Christmaaaaaas! Well, almost, and movie fans have taken to social media to urge audiences to sit in front of the TV and stream a particularly festive Netflix movie this year. Released back in 2019, the animated Christmas adventure comedy, Klaus, was met with rave reviews at the time, but remains a largely unsung and underrated movie of the genre. But, could that all be about to change in 2024?
Co-written, co-produced, and directed by Sergio Pablos in his directorial debut, Klaus boasts a hugely impressive 95% from critics and 96% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. “Beautiful hand-drawn animation and a humorous, heartwarming narrative make Klaus an instant candidate for holiday classic status,” the critics’ consensus reads.

Disney movies are famous for their iconic characters, from the lovable heroes to the dastardly villains. Still, the female villains often steal the show, with their mesmerizing looks, cunning schemes, and chilling voices. Whether it's the evil queen in Snow White or the wicked stepmother in Cinderella, Disney's female villains have left an indelible mark on pop culture.
Interestingly, there actually is an official merchandising spinoff for the most iconic of Disney's femme fatales. Known as the "Disney Divas of Darkness," they act as an evil counterpart to the Disney Princesses lineup. That being said, some villains are much better at the "evil" thing than others. With the addition of live-action properties like Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe to Disney's line-up, their roster has expanded considerably.

Heads might roll following this recent development. Today is Thanksgiving, a day to give thanks and be thankful for family, friends, and some great food that hopefully leaves you in a massive food coma. It's a day that most enjoy, but not Wednesday Addams. On the Netflix series Wednesday, the titular character portrayed by Jenna Ortega famously hates the Thanksgiving holiday and everything that comes along with it. So, in the spirit of good fun, the streamer has added the character, alongside Thing and Pugsley, to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, the Wednesday float is featured alongside several lookalike Wednesday performers and accompanied by a live rendition of the Rolling Stones classic, "Paint It Black," performed by Bishop Briggs. The float features Wednesday serving her brother Pugsley's head (in float-form) on a silver platter, with Thing perched right on her shoulder. If this float was to happen,...

“I don’t wanna hurt anybody. I don’t enjoy hurting anybody. I don’t like guns, or bombs, or electric chairs. But sometimes people just won’t listen. And so, I have to use persuasion. And slides.”
As the weather cools and the holidays approach, we get the urge to curl up with loved ones around a crackling fire to watch a good old-fashioned family movie. A film where a loveable clan tries to overcome their problems by leaning on love and respect for one another. Sometimes we laugh, sometimes we cry, but we hopefully emerge from this loving cocoon reaffirmed in our own sense of family values. For horror fans, only one household fits the bill. Barry Sonnenfeld’s Addams Family Values features one of the genre’s most beloved broods, a lineage of morbid misfits who live by their own rules and love to take pleasure in the spooky and macabre.

Though they continue to be one of the most celebrated animation studios for a wide range of projects, the Toy Story franchise remains one of Pixar's most iconic, and Toy Story 2 is a prime reason why. The 1999 sequel served as the studio's third feature-length project after making their debut with the 1995 original, which was nominated for three Oscars, and 1998's A Bug's Life, one of Pixar's more underrated efforts. It also wouldn't be the end of the franchise, either, as two more sequels have been released and a Toy Story 5 is currently in production.

Since her feature film debut in 1996, Nicole Holofcener has steadily been one of the strongest mumblecore directors working today. Her films highlight the complicated relationships of people, focusing on realistic dialogue and naturalistic acting. She has also had a prolific writing career with screenwriter credits for films like The Last Duel, Every Secret Thing, and Can You Ever Forgive Me?, the latter of which earned Holofcener an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay and won her the Writers Guild of America Award in the same category. She even has an uncredited rewrite for Black Widow.

Given their near-death experience at the end of Toy Story 3, it might have seemed like Woody, Buzz and the rest of the gang were ready to ride off into the proverbial sunset after that third installment of the franchise, but Pixar quickly let it be known that was far from the case. Next up came the first Toy Story TV special, which featured Woody’s Roundup Gang venturing into a surprising new genre: horror.

The Addams Family quotes help make the live-action movies beloved by many thanks to the witty, kooky characters. Despite the fact that he still just can’t get over the fact that NBC fired Shane Gillis for publicly making racist and homophobic comments, Lorne Michaels seems a tad less broken up about the recent nixing of Saturday Night Live cast members Punkie Johnson, Molly Kearney and Chloe Troast. While Johnson and Kearney were less vocal on the matter when the news first hit last month, Troast quickly revealed on Instagram that she was “not asked back to SNL this season.”
This was a real bummer to be honest, since all three of them were solid performers. And Troast was only given one season to prove herself as a featured player. Even within that brief window of time, though, she managed to stand out in sketches like “Little Orphan Cassidy.”

The Toy Story franchise is a record-breaking animated adventure, with many wonderful characters who come and go. Toy Story has always primarily been about Woody the Cowboy (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) as well as a handful of regular supporting characters and how their different personalities and viewpoints showcase a unique philosophy of childhood. Over the years, Woody and Buzz have befriended many other wacky toys, from their original crew to the cast of Toy Story 4.
Some briefly seen supporting characters in the Toy Story movies prompt additional questions about the world, or are so wonderfully funny in the brief time on screen that they arguably deserved more of it.
