As work continues on Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, we now have a first look at Spider-Man: No Way Home and Dune star Zendaya on set in full costume.
We don't yet know who she will play in this retelling of the epic poem composed by Homer in the 8th Century, but the actor was spotted alongside Matt Damon (who is looking more than a little worse for wear). The Bourne star has been aged up and is rocking a pretty impressive beard, a sign perhaps that this scene is from later in the movie.
While these photos don't exactly help confirm it, rumour has it Zendaya is playing Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom and strategic warfare.
In the story, she acts as a divine benefactor and mentor to Odysseus and his family, often appearing in disguise to subtly guide them. Athena is deeply invested in Odysseus's journey home...

Marvel spent five and a half slow hours revealing the massive cast for “Avengers: Doomsday” and still did not have the time to include some fan-favorite characters.
It had been teased that Marvel was going to have a reveal that would sweep the Internet on Wednesday morning. That happened in the form of a slow panning of cast chairs revealing the names of the stars for the next big Avengers film. Among the biggest names were Marvel mainstays Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Anthony Mackie, and more. They also revealed a number of iconic members from the Fox-era X-Men movies would star including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan, James Marsden, and Rebecca Romijn.
Obviously, not every character was going to appear in “Avengers: Doomsday” – many who appeared in “Avengers: Infinity War” sat out most of “Avengers: Endgame” or vice versa – but below are ten characters that really made sense to appear in the upcoming team-up film.

[This story contains some spoilers for the first two episodes of The Studio on Apple TV+.]
The idea of a movie studio considering a film based on Kool-Aid — the sugary drink with an anthropomorphic pitcher as logo — sounds just plausible in the current IP-obsessed era of the entertainment business. It’s also just crazy enough to be the inciting incident of Apple TV+’s Hollywood satire The Studio.
The series opener, written by creators Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Alex Gregory, Peter Huyck and Frida Perez, finds movie executive Matt Remick (Rogen) elevated to the head of the fictional Continental Studios after his predecessor, Patty Leigh (Catherine O’Hara, whose character, Rogen has said in interviews, is inspired by former Sony Pictures head Amy Pascal), is ousted following a string of flops. Matt professes over and over to be a cinephile who really, really wants to make great films, but he only gets the top job after assuring his CEO (played by Bryan Cranston...

Rogen plays Matt Remick, an executive at the fictional Continental Studios who learned everything he knows from O’Hara’s Patty Leigh. Christopher Nolan isn't the kind of director to rest on his laurels for too long. With production officially underway on The Odyssey, fans are working their way through his back catalog, and it's Nolan's last movie that has become a streaming hit almost two years after it was initially released. The film in question is none other than Oppenheimer, starring Cillian Murphy. You may remember it as the film that had a weird feud with Greta Gerwig's Barbie, caused Cillian Murphy to nearly emaciate himself for the leading role, or won almost every Oscar last year. However Nolan's R-rated biopic about one of the most important men in modern history lingers in your brain, it might be time to revisit the 3 hour+ epic, as it's currently a hit on streaming.
Oppenheimer is currently streaming on Netflix, and is flying up the streamer's top 10 most popular films of the week list.

Hot on the heels of Netflix's super popular and critically acclaimed limited series Adolescence, which was filmed all in one take, Apple TV+ debuts its new Seth Rogen comedy series The Studio. The series has something in common with the Netflix hit, but don't tune in expecting a hard-hitting drama series. Adolescence and The Studio are two completely different genres, though they share the technical achievement of allowing their stories to unfold in one take.
The Studio takes a less daunting approach, with each of its scenes filmed in one take, rather than the entire episode. If you appreciated that technique in the drama series, you're going to love how Rogen, who not only leads the series but co-directs each episode, instills the satiric comedy with an urgency that makes it impossible to look away from his character Matt Remick's many and frequent mistakes. When The Studio co-creator, -writer, -director, and star Seth Rogen told costar Ike Barinholtz that Oscar winner Martin Scorsese had signed on for a guest appearance on the new Apple TV+ comedy series, Barinholtz only had one response: “F--k you.”

What better way to write a love letter to Hollywood than to create a scathing comedy series that highlights and laughs at everything that's currently wrong with the film industry. That's exactly what Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have done with The Studio, the new comedy series which just premiered on Apple TV+. With two episodes already available to stream, a flood of reviews have hit the internet, and the show's Rotten Tomatoes score has just been revealed. So, is The Studio a tentpole hit, or an underwhelming studio flop?

Hollywood loves stories about itself, movies and shows that satirize the filmmaking process, that poke fun at the hardships and the absurdity of Tinseltown. And yet, from "Bowfinger" to "The Disaster Artist" and "Babylon," the best movies about making movies have something in common — a genuine love of cinema and an enthusiasm for making art. Even when we have TV shows that look at some of the worst tendencies in Hollywood, like last year's "The Franchise" or this year's "The Studio," the main character's disillusionment with the industry stems from a genuine love of the art form and its possibilities.
What does make "The Studio" stand out, particularly compared to the rather disappointing "The Franchise," is how it riffs on one popular HBO show about filmmaking and the pursuit of stardom — "Entourage." If you're not familiar, "Entourage" was a show in the mid-'00s created by Doug Ellin and chronicling...

Netflix constantly adds great titles every month. That's great for us, of course, but there is one little drawback: we also lose a lot of great titles. These are three of the very best movies you need to catch before they're gone.
To be sure, a few films leaving the Netflix rotation in April won't be sorely missed. I'll just say that when you've reached the third movie in a trilogy, the franchise has usually run out of ideas. There aren't many franchises that close out with a film like The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Although if they were being honest, they could probably borrow the title. But overall, a lot of great titles are leaving.
Unlike the three films I highlighted last week, I can't exactly say these three movies are underrated. The first was a box office hit that scored with critics and audiences alike. The...

In the pilot of Apple TV+’s The Studio, the half-hour comedy points the lens back at Hollywood, taking aim at its foibles and follies with as much frequency as Seth Rogen’s Matt Remick — the bumbling yet passionate newly appointed head of the fictional Continental Studios — shoots himself in the foot.
The first installment sees Matt struggling to gain his C-(suite) legs; in his frenetic attempts to please everybody, he accidentally kills Martin Scorsese’s final film about Jonestown, driving the auteur to tears and leading Charlize Theron to exile him from the hottest party in Tinseltown (both excellent cameos). In the second, the newly minted top brass fumbles his way through a daylight-dependent indie shoot starring Greta Lee and featuring a “oner,” which reflects itself in the way the episode itself is shot.

On Halloween of 2022, it was announced that Hannibal creator Bryan Fuller would be developing a Friday the 13th series called Crystal Lake for A24 and the Peacock streaming service… but things have turned out to be more complicated than expected. First, the lengthy writers strike slowed down the progress of the show, then Fuller got the boot and was replaced. It remains to be seen when Crystal Lake will be going into production, but we thought this would be a good time for us to share Everything We Know About Crystal Lake!

While the entertainment industry is a dreamland for many, there's a harsh reality behind the scenes, as once again proven by the 2023 Hollywood strikes. Though The Odyssey is Christopher Nolan's next big-budget blockbuster, it appears the Oscar-winning director is running his upcoming adaptation like it's on a much smaller scale. One member of Nolan's star-studded cast claims the British helmer's production operates "like an indie film."
Speaking with MSNBC's Morning Joe (via Collider), Leguizamo opened up about principal photography for The Odyssey, which began last month in Morocco. Though the film is one of Nolan's priciest, Leguizamo spoke of the director's more humble approach to the production. “Dude, you know the thing is, okay, he’s got a crazy budget. It’s not small, but he runs [it] like an indie film because he’s not doing it by committee, he’s not doing it by what the studio says. He’s like an indie filmmaker but with crazy money,” he said.

The Friday the 13th horror franchise's future as a film series is uncertain. However, Peacock and A24 have officially ordered a prequel series.

Peacock has found its Pamela Voorhees for the highly anticipated “Friday the 13th” prequel series, “Crystal Lake.” Linda Cardellini will play Jason Voorhees mom in the A24 original.
Last month, it was leaked that Cardellini was reportedly in talks to play the role, which was originally being eyed by Charlize Theron. First known to most audiences for her role in “Freaks and Geeks,” Cardellini starred in the Netflix original from Liz Feldman “Dead To Me,” a role which earned her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. Pamela Voorhees initially appeared in the first “Friday the 13th” movie in 1980 and was portrayed by Betsy Palmer. A cook at Camp Crystal Lake, Pamela worked at the camp the year that her son drowned.

Apple TV+’s The Studio aims to give audiences a peek behind the Hollywood curtain. Funnily enough, it was reported years ago that Seth Rogen had pitched an idea at HBO that pre-dated Entourage, but would be very similar in navigating the glamour of showbiz and would also intend to show some inside baseball on the film industry in Hollywood. Rogen gets to do it in a different fashion with his new TV series and, just like Entourage, there are cameos aplenty by a large number of people playing a version of themselves.

The upcoming Apple TV+ comedy series “The Studio” could be the streamer’s next big hit — or its most inside baseball, er, inside industry show ever.
Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg co-created the 10-episode series, where Rogen stars as ambitious — and prone-to-pratfalling — producer Matt Remick. He’s the newly appointed head of the fictional Continental Studios, tasked with churning out studio slop like a Kool-Aid movie meant to capitalize on Mattel’s growing reign in Hollywood. Or asking “Smile” and “Smile 2” director Parker Finn to direct a movie called “Wink,” which is basically the same concept as those horror movies but with a, well, wink instead of a lethal smile. “It’s not a formula so much as a structure that we know 100 percent works so we’re going to do it over and over again,” Matt explains at one point of the company’s ethos.

Before Rachel Zegler’s controversy-laden role in Disney’s Snow White, Kristen Stewart was brutally bashed for the same role. The criticism had little to do with Stewart’s film Snow White and the Huntsman or her performance in it. Stewart was shamed for her alleged affair with director Rupert Sanders when she was in a publicly-known relationship with Robert Pattinson.

Ever since Disney has been on a mission to create live-action adaptations of some of their famous classics, fans feared that their favorite films would end up getting butchered due to the House of Mouse’s penchant for ‘wokeness’. Well, we are seeing it happening as far as the recently released Snow White is concerned. Featuring the controversial casting of Rachel Zegler as the fair princess and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, the film has attracted controversy like a couple of termites to wood.

Well, in a similar fashion, the controversies have caused significant damage to the film, which surprisingly has not been hailed as big of a critical failure as many had envisioned. As Disney deals with the repercussions of their decision, one significantly disturbing detail is the rumored salary difference between the two leads.

Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film has by no means, a small premise. An adaptation of the classic “The Odyssey,” the film includes a large cast of some of the biggest Hollywood stars. But cast member John Leguizamo says Nolan still manages to make the production feel like an independent film.

John Lithgow has reflected on working with director Christopher Nolan on Interstellar. Lithgow starredwith Matthew McConaughey and Timothée Chalamet in the 2014 space epic.
Lithgow recently spoke to Variety about the highlights of his legendary career, which have included receiving two Academy Award nominations for his performances in 1982's The World According to Garp and 1983's Terms of Endearment. A later career highlight was playing McConaughey's world-weary father-in-law in Nolan's Interstellar.
John Lithgow Calls Interstellar a "Masterpiece"
"I consider [Interstellar] Chris Nolan's masterpiece, but he's come up with a few masterpieces," Lithgow conceded. "But a great time and I got to work with Timothée and watch him turn into a superstar. A much, much, much bigger deal than I am!"
Lithgow reflected on one particularly powerful scene in Interstellar, where his character Donald goes with son-in-law Cooper and grandson (Chalamet) to a baseball game after famine has wiped out most of the world's population.

Disney's Snow White has become one of the most talked-about films of 2025, and likely not for the reasons anyone expected. The film is the long-awaited remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the very first full-length animated film that Walt Disney produced and helped launch the Disney film empire that endures today. Coming 15 years into Disney's modern remake cycle, it is certainly surprising that a live-action remake of Snow White took this long. Part of the reason might have been that audiences might have been overwhelmed by Snow White, as, in 2012, there were three separate Snow White projects.
In 2012, there were two big-budget Snow White films released, not by Disney. Disney's Snow White relaunch was on the small screen. These projects were Relativity Media's Mirror Mirror, Universal Pictures' Snow White and the Huntsman, and ABC's Once Upon a Time. Despite the two movies getting a lot of media attention,...

Disney’s live-action Snow White hits theaters March 21 with Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, but it’s not the first movie in recent years to mine the classic fairy tale. In 2012, director Tarsem Singh’s Mirror Mirror starred Lily Collins as Snow White and Julia Roberts as the Evil Queen in an updated version of the Brothers Grimm tale, previously told in the 1937 animated classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
The 2012 film debuted amid a wave of fairy tale reboots, following 2011’s Amanda Seyfried-led Red Riding Hood and coming two months before Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman, which starred Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth.
Singh remembers pressure for his project to beat Universal’s movie to the punch. “We don’t have nearly their budget and their machine, so we have to come before them,” the director tells The Hollywood Reporter of his mindset.

This spring is treating Snow White fans very well. With Disney's Snow White live-action movie out in theaters, a different film based on the beloved fairy tale is heading to streaming.
In 2012, Chris Hemsworth made his debut in the fantasy action-adventure movie Snow White and the Huntsman, taking a different twist on the beloved fairy tale. After some controversy with director Rupert Sanders and lead actress Kristen Stewart, the sequel put Hemsworth in the center of the story. 2016's The Huntsman: Winter's War is now heading to Peacock on Apr. 1 after being critically panned and becoming a major commercial flop.

Though acclaimed composer Hans Zimmer is synonymous with crafting music for the directors of several high-profile directors, his work alongside Oscar-winning director Christopher Nolan remains among the most recognized throughout his career. Though Zimmer holds no hard feelings towards Nolan years after their creative breakup, he admits the prominent filmmaker feels like "life or death."
Speaking with Deadline, Zimmer addressed his long-time working relationship with Nolan, who he collaborated with on seven feature films, including The Dark Knight trilogy and Interstellar. Zimmer confirmed the two remain "good friends" and hasn't ruled out a reunion for a future project. Snow White had been kicking around for centuries before the Brothers Grimm immortalized her story in print in their seminal 1812 collection of fairy tales. It’s also a tale that Hollywood has found irresistible. There were two Snow White silent films in 1902 and 1916, decades before Walt Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs broke new ground as a full-length animated film in 1937. Since then, Disney’s take on Snow White has defined the character’s presence in pop culture.
Beyond Disney’s version, there have been plenty of other attempts to bring the story to the big screen. That includes some wild swings, like Snow White and the Three Stooges in 1961. Then in 2012, there were two big-budget productions of Snow White that went head-to-head: Mirror, Mirror and Snow White and the Huntsman. Plot: An enchanted kingdom is ruined by its evil Queen (Gal Gadot). Their only hope is a kind-hearted princess named Snow White (Rachel Zegler), whose youth and beauty are coveted by the Queen.
Review: Snow White has to be one of the most ridiculously controversial movies in recent memory. It’s become something of a political hot potato, with its detractors claiming it would be overly “woke” based on some clumsy quotes attributed to the movie’s star. Whatever those quotes might have promised, there’s nothing particularly incendiary about this retelling of the Disney classic, and there’s certainly nothing particularly woke about it, with it hitting most of the same beats as the original. However, that doesn’t mean it’s good either.

Some more photos from the set of Christopher Nolan's adaptation of The Odyssey have been doing the rounds online, and this time we have another look at Matt Damon's Odysseus as he prepares to enter the cave of the Cyclops known as Polyphemus.
Filming for these scenes is taking place at Nestor’s Cave in Greece, and we have heard that a 6x6m mechanical animatronic puppet of Polyphemus was created for the sequence.
Unfortunately, we don't have any shots of the monster himself, but we'll be sure to update if any find their way online.
In the original story, Polyphemus was the son of Poseidon, god of the sea, and the nymph Thoösa. Odysseus and his men were captured by the cyclops when they were cast ashore on the coast of Sicily. Polyphemus devoured several of Odysseus' companions before the legendary hero managed to blind the giant...

After the release of Avengers: Endgame, the Marvel Cinematic Universe slowly started to build towards something even bigger and more ambitious in the form of a multiversal crossover. Suddenly, the characters we knew and loved weren't alone anymore as they could team up with iconic heroes from alternate realities without previous warning. But opening such a huge door could have unforeseen repercussions as you never know what (or rather who) could be waiting on the other side. In the worst of cases, you could find a villain disguised as a former friend.
Doctor Doom is coming, and while fans' excitement is through the roof to finally see him, we also have more questions than answers about his upcoming appearance. For starters: Victor wasn't supposed to be the big bad of the Multiverse Saga, so how is Marvel hoping to shine the spotlight on him without completely throwing away the story they already have?...

The trailer of Ballerina aka From the World of John Wick: Ballerina had me glued to the screen as I watched Ana de Armas step into the spotlight as Eve Macarro. She plays a ballerina-assassin who is out for vengeance, as we see the actress in an action-packed preview that looks quite promising.
Ana de Armas as Eve Macarro in Ballerina | Lionsgate
But as I rewatch the trailer, something feels off! I’ll admit that it looks undeniably stylish but it lacks the intensity that made Atomic Blonde such a standout movie. So while the trailer has floored me, I can’t help but wonder if it’s missing the grit that would elevate it to a different level.

Grey's Anatomystar Ellen Pompeo has opened up about the pay disparity between herself and former co-star Patrick Dempsey. From the mind of Shonda Rhimes, Grey’s Anatomy debuted in 2005 and quickly became one of the most popular medical dramas on television. As the protagonist and namesake of the ABC series, Pompeo's Dr. Meredith Grey remained the leading professional at Grey Sloan Memorial before departing after 19 seasons. Dempsey played Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd, Meredith’s love interest, until his departure in season 11. In season 21, Pompeo only appears sporadically to maintain her focus on other projects.
On an episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast (via Variety), Pompeo recalled asking creator Rhimes for the same salary as Dempsey during contract negotiations. The actor acknowledged that Dempsey was a more recognizable actor when the show first started, having been cast several times in TV pilots with notable appearances on Will & Grace and Once & Again.
