Over the years, the MCU has introduced us to countless characters, including lead heroes, villains, and a myriad of supporting roles. With Marvel Studios creating the largest single-narrative cinematic universe to date, it continues to expand with no signs of stopping.
The MCU is undeniably something special, delivering remarkable characters and unforgettable stories. This article, however, takes a different angle.
Instead of focusing on the fan favorites or the strongest, we’re diving into a list of the 10 most hated MCU characters. Whether major or minor, these characters have sparked dislike among fans, and we’ll explain why each has earned a spot on this list.
10. Gorr
Unlike his comic book version, the MCU’s portrayal of Gorr was widely disliked, even by actor Christian Bale. Marvel took one of its most formidable villains and diminished his impact, both in terms of story and appearance.

Over the years, the MCU has provided us with a plethora of characters, thousands of them if we count the supporting characters and extras. The universe created by Marvel Studios is still the largest single-narrative cinematic universe, and, as you might assume, it will keep expanding until the very end.
The MCU is, indeed, something special, and as far as the characters are concerned, we have been treated to a series of brilliant stories and interpretations, which is why this report is going to be dedicated to the characters. But with a twist!
Namely, in this article, we are going to bring you a list of 10 MCU characters, not the most popular or strongest ones, but rather the most hated MCU characters of all time as they appeared in different shows and movies.
Some of them will be more important, some less, but we will provide you with an explanation...

After 20 years, Zach Braff is bringing the sounds of Garden State to the Golden State.
The three-time Golden Globe nominee announced a 20th anniversary soundtrack concert, which will happen March 29, 2025 at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, benefitting homeless shelter The Midnight Mission. Tickets are now available on Ticketmaster.
“It’s been 20 years since my film Garden State came out, and I never could have imagined that the film and the soundtrack would still be resonating with people two decades later,” he said in a video announcement. “So, we had an idea; what if we got together the brilliant musicians from the Garden State soundtrack, live onstage for the first time ever, to raise money for a great cause? In our Oscar odds, Mikey Madison (“Anora”) and Karla Sofia Gascon (“Emilia Perez”) have emerged as the front-runners for Best Actress. But the first of those films is a comedy and the latter is a musical. Since comedies and musicals are separated from dramas at the Golden Globes, that opens up a golden opportunity for a dramatic actress to assert herself this awards season. As of this writing, it looks like that actress will be Angelina Jolie (“Maria”).
Jolie is the front-runner for Best Film Drama Actress for her biographical performance as opera singer Maria Callas. The film is directed by Pablo Larrain, who guided Natalie Portman and Kristen Stewart to Best Actress Oscar nominations for the respective biopics “Jackie” and “Spencer.” Currently, Jolie leads our Globe forecasts with 37/10 odds. Among those backing her are 13 out of 18 Expert journalists we’ve surveyed from major media outlets. Gold Derby Editors are also confident,...

Zach Braff is getting the “Garden State” gang back together – at least the bands featured on the movie’s Grammy-winning soundtrack.
A one-night concert celebrating the 20th anniversary of “Garden State” – which Braff wrote, directed and starred in – will take place March 29, 2025, at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. On the bill are The Shins, Iron & Wine, Frou Frou, Colin Hay, Thievery Corporation, Remy Zero, Cary Brothers, Bonnie Somerville and Sophie Barker from Zero 7. Special guests will be announced at a later date.
The evening will benefit The Midnight Mission, a homeless shelter and support organization for unhoused individuals in downtown Los Angeles.
“When I was first approached about doing a concert for the 20th anniversary, I was like, ‘I don’t know how we’re ever going to get all these bands together at the same time,’” Braff tells me. “But when the notion of doing it as a benefit for The Midnight Mission,...

Twenty years ago, the music industry was wholly unprepared for the Garden State soundtrack and its “life-changing” songs by the Shins, Coldplay, and Iron and Wine. The 2004 movie, which actor Zach Braff wrote, directed, and starred in, was a coming-of-age cringe comedy about grief, following Braff’s character, Andrew Largeman, as he returns to New Jersey for his mother’s funeral and struggles to feel anything but numb. Then Natalie Portman’s quirky character, Sam, arrives to break him out of his funk.

“One Tree Hill” and “Chicago P.D.” star Sophia Bush is about to put on some scrubs.

Bush is no stranger to playing a doctor. In 2022, she produced and starred in the CBS medical drama “Good Sam,” playing the role of Dr. Sam Griffith, a cardiac fellow and interim hospital chief. Her credits also include the medical center-set “Chicago Med” and “Nip/Tuck.”

Portraying the life of a diva pop star — or, at least, doing it convincingly — isn’t the easiest thing for a movie to bring off. There are too many real-life counterparts. The director Brady Corbet (“The Brutalist”), teaming up with Natalie Portman, got about halfway there in “Vox Lux.” Lady Gaga, drawing on elements of her own legend but shrewd enough to play the heroine of “A Star Is Born” as not a version of herself, created a character for the ages. More recently, M. Night Shyamalan seemed to make “Trap” mostly to let his budding musician daughter, Saleka Shyamalan, embody a pop singer — which she did with aplomb in concert, less convincingly in the backstage scenes. So when you hear that “Smile 2,” Parker Finn’s sequel to his effective if overloaded creep-out horror film of two years ago, is centered around a pop star, you may not exactly...

Within the "Star Wars" galaxy, few alien races are cooler than Zabraks. From their intricate facial tattoos to their cranial horns, there's really no species that looks quite so visually distinct. They don't pop up often in the "Star Wars" saga, but when they do, they make a genuine impression. Take Darth Maul, played by Ray Park in "Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace." Though he's only appeared in live-action twice (the last time for a cameo in "Solo: A Star Wars Story" that never bore any fruit), he's become a fan favorite since. His popularity has a lot to do with his character design, which is at once utterly terrifying and totally unforgettable. He's a decisive highlight of the "Star Wars" prequels, and he ultimately became the blueprint for Zabraks and their subspecies.
As important as he's become to the franchise now, though, Maul's origins weren't auspicious.

Sandra Bullock can easily be one of the most bankable actresses in Hollywood. She has an Academy Award by her side, perfectly solidifying her versatility as an actress. She has a string of well-acclaimed and commercially successful movies to her name. But in this list, Gravity directed by Alfonso Cuarón would definitely be her most successful movie.

Also featuring George Clooney alongside Bullock, the movie broke all records when it was released in 2013. And also swept the entire Oscars that year with back-to-back wins. While the movie created instant magic on the big screen, Cuarón had to deal with a lot of budget issues. And friendly advice by filmmaker James Cameron would have completely changed the movie as well as Bullock’s highest-paid actress status.

Lives of historical figures often get cinematic treatment to tell sweeping tales of real life events, and Ali Abbasi’s The Apprentice captures former president Donald Trump in a key moment before the 2024 presidential election. Starring Sebastian Stan as Trump, Jeremy Strong as Roy Cohn and Maria Bakalova as Trump’s first wife Ivanka, the film marks the latest in a catalog of films that explore the lives of political people. From United States Presidents to their wives and First Ladies, to Supreme Court Justices to scientists and brilliant minds, nobody is off limits, especially if the stories are triumphant. Others have more tragic endings.

Oscar-winning actor and filmmaker Jodie Foster is set to star in a French movie, “Vie Privée,” the next directorial effort of Rebecca Zlotowski.
Currently filming in France, “Vie Privée” will mark Zlotowski’s follow up to “Other People’s Children,” which competed at the Venice Film Festival in 2022.
The movie is penned by Zlotowski, Anne Berest, a well-known French novelist (“The Postcard”) and screenwriter (“Happening”), alongside Gaëlle Macé. Zlotowski and Macé previously collaborated on the script of “Grand Central.” Zlotowski’s regular producer, Frederic Jouve at Paris-based Velvet Films is producing.
Foster, who was last seen in “True Detective: Night Country,” picks her roles very selectively. Her pairing with Zlotowski seems like an ideal match as they share a similar sensibility and are both interested in dramas portraying multi-faceted characters, many of which are female protagonists.
Besides “Other People’s Children,” Zlotowski is best known for directing “Une fille facile,” “Grand Central” with Lea Seydoux,...

The plot of George Lucas' 2002 sci-fi bouillabaisse "Star Wars: Episode II -- Attack of the Clones" is difficult to follow, but one can rest assured that Jango Fett (Temuera Morrison) plays a crucial role. Early in the film, Senator Amidala (Natalie Portman) votes against a motion to create a massive army of clones in order to assist the Jedi -- monk-like space police -- in fighting a vague separatist movement. Her actions attract the attention of an assassin who, luckily, fails. Before the assassin can be interrogated, however, she is killed by her employer, the bounty hunter Jango Fett.
Jango Fett is also in league with a shadowy cadre of conspirators who have been -- regardless of the above-mentioned vote -- creating a clone army in secret. Thousands of clone soldiers have been grown on the ocean world of Kamino, each one of them taken from Jango Fett's genetic material.

There has been such a strong, rich history and legacy of heroines in the Star Wars franchise. From Princess Leia to Rose Tico and, most recently, Osha and Mae, they have represented women from all walks of life in strong and thought-provoking ways. However, since Disney took over the franchise, many of the actresses who've portrayed these strong characters have come under harassment and judgment from a part of the fanbase.
I'm a father of a young girl, and I've taken zero issues with the diverse and in-depth characters showcased in the franchise. My message to these women who have come under harassment is to stay the course and be proud of their work for Star Wars.
Each of these Star Wars actresses has provided a new character that any child, regardless of gender, can look upon and find similar traits to emulate.

When it comes to stretching a production dollar, Warner Bros., which just went through the exercise of spending $190 million+ on Joker: Folie à Deux, might want to have a conversation with filmmaker Brady Corbet, who shot his 3 1/2 hour Venice Film Festival-winning epic The Brutalist for between $6 million-$8 million.
The original post-World War II-set feature follows Hungarian-born Jewish architect László Tóth (Oscar winner Adrien Brody), who arrives to America and finds newfound success when he is hired by a rich real estate tycoon, Harrison Lee Van Buren (played by Guy Pearce). However, not everything is as great as it seems. Felicity Jones plays László’s wheelchair-stricken wife Erzsébet, who arrives some time after Tóth’s time stateside.
How did Corbet pull off shooting in VistaVision and at such a low cost? There will even be 70mm prints of the movie when it hits theaters via A24 on December 20. The distributor bought the movie out of Venice.

A brutal Oscar season is ahead…in a good way.
As the Oscar race heats up, Hollywood is bracing for an intense, wide-open awards season. After its whirlwind tour through the Venice, Toronto, and New York Film Festivals, A24’s newly acquired historical epic “The Brutalist” has emerged as a potential heavyweight in this year’s Academy Awards lineup. Starring Adrien Brody in a career-redefining role as a Hungarian-born Jewish architect who survives the Holocaust and journeys to the U.S., the film screened in front of an influential audience at CAA on Sunday night. The room was filled with industry professionals, journalists, and Oscar winners like Cord Jefferson (“American Fiction”). After the screening, the film’s director, Brady Corbet, and co-writer Mona Fastvold participated in a post-screening Q&a session, giving the audience insight into the seven-year odyssey to bring this project to life.

The Lonely Island is back and boy do they have a pitch; just hear them out! It has been more than six years since the comedy group last released one of their famed SNL Digital Shorts, but the boys returned during this week’s episode of Saturday Night Live to drop a new banger…so to speak.
“Sushi Glory Hole” finds Andy Samberg and Akiva Schaffer entering a meeting with top execs played by Bowen Yang, Maya Rudolph and Kenan Thompson. Their idea? Well, let’s see if these ill rhymes do the trick: You forgot to eat, now you’re out and about but you wanna be discreet / Can’t be eatin’ omakase in the middle of the street / Then you open the app: Sgh is all over the map / So you head to a club, hit the bathroom stall / Find the sushi-size hole in the bathroom wall / Then make a wish,...

The Lonely Island returned to "Saturday Night Live" with a brand new digital short, and it's perfect.
For weird little guys across the world, this is a huge moment. The Lonely Island — made up of Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone — used to provide digital shorts nearly every Saturday night during their run on "SNL" (Samberg was a cast member and Schaffer and Taccone worked on the writing team but often appeared in the pre-taped sketches). Samberg left the show in 2012, but the trio — who still work together all the time — kept providing shorts here and there, like "Yolo" in 2013 (with an assist from Adam Levine and Kendrick Lamar) and "Natalie's Rap 2," which reunited Schaffer, Samberg, and Taccone with Natalie Portman after their first short together in 2006. The latter was in 2018, so it's been six long years since we all got a Digital Short.

Lonely Island is back on “Saturday Night Live” with their first song since 2018. Andy Samberg was joined by groupmate Akiva Schaffer on “Sushi Glory Hole,” which sings the praises of an app that allows users to find sushi in a hole in a bathroom in New York (a combination of words that admittedly isn’t the most appealing).
The pair presented their idea to a panel featuring Maya Rudolph, who asked them, “Gentlemen, what do you have for us today?” at the top of the segment. After they introduced the song, the duo leapt into a rap about the perceived wonders of eating sushi in bathrooms.
As they rapped lines that encourage listeners to “drop to your knees and get ready for some fish,” the men traversed New York bars and restaurants that apparently serve as hosts for such an activity. Lest a listener feel a little nervous about eating...

Saturday Night Live‘s golden year is reuniting cast members past for some new laughs.
This weekend, SNL alums and musical comedy trio The Lonely Island made a surprise appearance with their new song ‘Sushi Glory Hole’, the group’s first digital short on the sketch comedy show in six years.
A la 2006’s Emmy-winning “D— in a Box,” the song’s title is pretty self-explanatory, featuring Akiva Schaffer and Andy Samberg (Jorma Taccone is not featured but is credited as a writer) in their finest Wolf of Wall Street attire, pitching their new concept to a group of investors.
‘Sushi Glory Hole, imagine that / Instead of strange d—, you’ll be getting a snack,” raps Samberg during their pitch, complete with a tiny model.

The Lonely Island is at it again. Six years after the comedy trio last graced our screens with a digital short, Andy Samberg and Akiva Schaffer returned to Saturday Night Live this weekend with their most profane music video yet.
From the minds behind “J*zz in My Pants” comes… “Sushi Glory Hole.” (Yes, really.) The sketch casts Samberg and Schaffer as chain-smoking pitchmen who are ready to revolutionize sushi consumption. Because what’s a hungry man to do when he forgets to eat? “You can’t be eating omakase in the middle of the street,” Samberg points out. So,...

CAA’s Roeg Sutherland looked back on his eventful career and discussed the changing landscape of the global film industry at the Zurich Film Festival, where he’s being honored with this year’s Game Changer Award.
Taking part in the Zurich Summit industry forum, where he’s been a regular for years, Sutherland pushed back against the idea of a “game changer,” at least in the film business, joking that “LeBron James can be a game changer.”
At CAA, where Sutherland co-heads the Media Finance department and the International Film Group, finding solutions for clients and ensuring films get made despite major obstacles is a big part of his job.

George Lucas spent years trying to perfect the prequel trilogy of Star Wars after the originals. However, his films faced significant backlash when they hit theaters. Over the years, fans have come to love the prequel series. Lucas never wished he could’ve had a superfan focus group at the time that told him what would work and what wouldn’t.

Just like Lucas, James Cameron also spent more than a decade perfecting the Avatar sequel. Nicole Kidman could be on the verge of receiving her sixth acting Oscar bid for the upcoming A24 erotic thriller “Babygirl,” directed by Halina Reijn, best known for the indie film “Bodies Bodies Bodies” (2022). With the movie already making its premiere at the Venice International Film Festival and Kidman taking home the Volpi Cup for Best Actress, let’s take a closer look at her five previous Oscar nominations, including her one win.
Her first recognition came for the Baz Luhrmann jukebox musical “Moulin Rouge” (2001), where Kidman portrayed a cabaret performer and courtesan in love with an English poet. It is certainly one of her most physical performances, as she performs extravagant musical numbers and showcases strong emotions as her character Satine suffers through an illness. This camera, this camera, this camera – tell the people what you have going on! First We Feast’s Hot Ones has become a pop culture phenomenon, but one thing it doesn’t have going for it is The Rock. Hot Ones has well over 300 episodes at this point but one of the most high-profile guests they haven’t been able to land is Dwayne Johnson…and it comes down to one specific request.
As host Sean Evans told Bloomberg, a mixture of demands and things cooling off have kept Dwayne Johnson out of the hot seat. “We’ve been pitching [The Rock] obviously for years and one time I got a note back that was like, ‘would you be willing to do, instead of wings, grilled salmon strips?’ And in my head I was like, that had to come from his mouth … that’s as close as we’ve gotten. And then it fell through.

Star Wars has always been one of Hollywood’s hottest properties, as even when the prequels were being made, fans were super excited to see what was unfolding behind the curtains. Given Christensen’s role came fresh off the success of The Phantom Menace, there was a lot more anticipation from fans about Attack of the Clones.

They say that in life there are three guarantees: death, taxes, and that if there is a complicated woman in need of a stylishly done, painstakingly constructed biopic, then Pablo Larraín is the man to make it. Having sensitively explored the grief of Jackie Kennedy in the wake of JFK's death with 2017's Natalie Portman starrer Jackie, and then made a haunting portrait of Princess Diana's vulnerability with Kristen Stewart in 2021's Spencer, Larraín has enlisted the services of Angelina Jolie to help tell the story of fêted opera singer Maria Callas in the aptly titled Maria. Check out the first teaser for the film below:
"Maria, what do you want to sing?" asks a pianist as Jolie's Maria looks out on a grand, empty music hall. From there, we get shots of Callas – in black and white, on vintage film, in a plethora of gorgeous outfits...

Angelina Jolie stars as Maria Callas in the latest aching biopic from Pablo Larraín. Check out the Maria trailer.
Pablo Larraín truly is the king of biopics about sad women. His 2016 film Jackie, starring Natalie Portman as Jackie Kennedy, captured Jackie’s grief perfectly and in 2021, Larraín explored Princess Diana’s complex inner state with Spencer. Of course, the director has done a lot of other, equally excellent films but his latest, Maria, feels like the third part in an unofficial trilogy of films about women grieving.
Take a look at the Maria trailer.
Maria is set in picturesque Paris and explores some of the final years of opera singer Maria Callas’ life. The film had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival where it was warmly received. Maria will also screen as part of the BFI London Film Festival in October.

On Thursday, the streaming platform released the first teaser for Pablo Larrain’s biographical film about famed opera singer Maria Callas, one of the most acclaimed performers of her lifetime. Oscar-winning actress Angelina Jolie stars as Callas and is already widely predicted to score a Best Actress nomination for her performance.
Here’s the official boilerplate from Netflix: “Academy Award-winner Angelina Jolie is Maria Callas, one of the most iconic performers of the 20th century in acclaimed director Pablo Larrain’s operatic Maria. The film follows the American-Greek soprano as she retreats to Paris after a glamorous and tumultuous life in the public eye. Maria reimagines the legendary soprano in her final days as the diva reckons with her identity and life.”

Zur Besetzung von „Maria“ gehören außerdem Pierfrancesco Favino („Adagio – Erbarmungslose Stadt”, „Der Kolibri – Chronik einer Liebe”), Alba Rohrwacher, Haluk Bilginer („Winterschlaf”), Kodi Smit-McPhee („The Power of the Dog“, „Elvis”) und Valeria Golino („The Morning Show“, „Porträt einer jungen Frau in Flammen”). In some ways it feels like the Olympics haven’t left Paris just yet, as Dior unveiled its Spring-Summer 2025 collection during Paris Fashion Week in a unique way — with competitive archer and artist Sofia Ginevra Gianní, known as Sagg Napoli, shooting arrows into a target at the end of the runway.
The show brought the likes of Natalie Portman, Jennifer Garner, Anya Taylor-Joy, Elizabeth Debicki, Rosamund Pike, Ashley Park, Rosalía and South Korean singer Jisoo to the front row, with France’s First Lady Brigitte Macron sitting beside Lvmh’s owners.
As guests waited for the show to start in the light blue room, attendees couldn’t help but notice the arched plexiglass tunnel structure in the middle. “What could that be for?” echoed through the audience. “Why would models walk through a protected clear tunnel?” others whispered. But as Sagg Napoli opened the show by walking through the tunnel...

Back in 2018, while presenting Best Director alongside Ron Howard at the Golden Globe Awards, Natalie Portman created a meme: “And here are the all-male nominees,” Portman said, pointedly underlining the omission of presumed contenders like Greta Gerwig for “Lady Bird” and Patty Jenkins for “Wonder Woman.”
Speaking a month after the ceremony, Portman said she wanted to bring attention to the disparity in the directors’ field without throwing the male nominees under the bus. “It’s not their fault, and they all made great work. You don’t want to not recognize them,” she said to BuzzFeed. “It’s just, why aren’t we recognizing the people who aren’t part of this exclusive club?”
But, Portman added, her goal was to make clear the obvious. “We have to make it weird for people to walk in a room where everyone’s not in the room,” she said. “If you...
