Some more photos from the set of Christopher Nolan's adaptation of The Odyssey have been doing the rounds online, and this time we have another look at Matt Damon's Odysseus as he prepares to enter the cave of the Cyclops known as Polyphemus.
Filming for these scenes is taking place at Nestor’s Cave in Greece, and we have heard that a 6x6m mechanical animatronic puppet of Polyphemus was created for the sequence.
Unfortunately, we don't have any shots of the monster himself, but we'll be sure to update if any find their way online.
In the original story, Polyphemus was the son of Poseidon, god of the sea, and the nymph Thoösa. Odysseus and his men were captured by the cyclops when they were cast ashore on the coast of Sicily. Polyphemus devoured several of Odysseus' companions before the legendary hero managed to blind the giant...

As a post-apocalyptic story, 28 Years Later owes a lot to The Last of Us franchise. Returning screenwriter Alex Garland recently spoke with the series' co-showrunner and co-game creator Neil Druckmann about their respective IPs, revealing how each inspired the other in their own way.
Speaking via a Sony Creator to Creator video, Druckmann acknowledged the "direct line between the fast infected and the Infected in The Last of Us" on account of both monsters being sick, while Garland discussed how he wrote the sequel to 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later in line with Druckmann's storytelling. He originally had an idea in which "the heroes were Chinese Special Forces and the UK had been quarantined. China had also discovered that the virus had been weaponized."
"In order to protect themselves against that weapon, they had to get to a lab in the UK where the virus was created.

Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey is now filming in Greece, and the Oppenheimer director has assembled one of the most impressive casts we've seen in quite a while for his upcoming adaptation of Homer's epic poem.
We know that Matt Damon will take on the lead role of Odysseus, but the characters the rest of the starry cast are playing have been kept under wraps... until now.
Though some key cast members are not listed (Jon Bernthal, for example), Greek media site OneMan.com is claiming to have shed some light on which mythological heroes and villains a good chunk of the other actors will portray.
Just in case some of these roles are supposed to be a surprise, here's your possible spoiler warning.
Tom Holland will reportedly play Odysseus' son Telemachus (as expected), with Zendaya as Goddess of Wisdom Athena, Charlize Theron as Goddess of Sorcery Circe, Anne Hathaway as Odysseus' wife Penelope,...

The Harry Potterfranchise has plenty of villains to hate. The antagonists range from Hogwarts bully Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton) to the Dark Lord himself, each presenting a different challenge to Harry (Daniel Radcliffe). But, despite his crucial role, even Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) isn't the worst the series has to offer. With antagonists like Umbridge (Imelda Staunton), whose self-righteous, sickly sweet attitude earns her a place among the most hated characters, and Fenrir Greyback (Dave Legeno), whose unique brand of violence is especially dark, it's hard to see Voldemort as the worst. He may be the central antagonist of Harry Potter, but Voldemort isn't the most evil character in the story. That honor goes to Bellatrix Lestrange (Helena Bonham Carter), the dedicated Death Eater, who, while not the leader of the organization, does the dirty work, unlike Voldemort himself.

Although they’ve rightly become iconic, the Harry Potter films do feature several scenes between them that continue to provoke questions and confusion in viewers. Many of these involve plot points that receive more thorough explanations in the novels the series is based on, but some points remain ambiguous or confounding even for viewers with knowledge of the books. One such moment from the series’ final film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, is the scene in which Narcissa (Helen McCrory) of the usually villainous Malfoy family lies to Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) to conceal that Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) has survived the Dark Lord’s latest attempt to kill him.

Taylor-Joy has been on a roll in the 2020s, wowing fans with her performances in Peaky Blinders, The Northman, Amsterdam, Super Mario Bros. Movie, and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. She also did excellent work on The Menu, a movie that continues to soar, two years after its release. In February, the black comedy horror hit Netflix’s Top 10 chart in U.S., proving that quality never goes out of fashion.

One of the most talented names in Hollywood, Adrien Brody most recently made headlines for his win at the Oscars. Brody nabbed the Academy Award for Best Actor for his work in The Brutalist, making the award his second Oscar win. Competing for the award were Timothée Chalamet (A Complete Unknown), Colman Domingo (Sing Sing), Ralph Fiennes (Conclave) and Sebastian Stan (The Apprentice), all of whom Brody successfully beat out.
Although now hailed as one of the best actors in film, a lesser popularized fact about Adrien Brody is that he has starred in some major box office flops over the years. One which takes the cake is Brody's 2018 film Air Strike. Given that he made a brief appearance alongside Bruce Willis and teamed up with Mel Gibson (a producer on the film) for the project, it was likely that Brody did not dream of the work going up in flames.

In September 2022, a movie starring Ralph Fiennes that defied all expectations and eluded an easy label was released with little fanfare but quickly caught the attention of audiences everywhere. Through word of mouth, The Menu became something of a phenomenon – a mid-budget movie that didn’t quite fit into any one genre, and that gave very little away in its marketing, was suddenly one of the most discussed and debated movies of the year.
It was this fascination and intrigue surrounding it that quickly made it arguably one of the best movies to come out in 2022, and certainly one of the most popular, despite its modest beginnings. Directed by Mark Mylod and written by Seth Reiss and Will Tracy, this movie has continued to be a favorite among audiences of all kinds and is still just as popular over two years later. So, what is it about this movie that has fans so captivated?...

Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes), the Dark Lord himself, is one of the most chilling villains in cinematic history. He's the most powerful dark wizard of all time, someone who has been murdering his way to power since he was a teenager. He's an archetype of evil, with his dark cloak, pale skin, and serpentine eyes; deserving a spot up there with fantasy's all-time scariest baddies like Sauron and Narnia's White Witch.

Another day, another casting as HBO continues working on a TV adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter book series. According to The Hollywood Reporter, HBO has offered the role of Severus Snape to British actor Paapa Essiedu, although it’s unclear if it is official or not.
Snape is one of the biggest characters in the Harry Potter series. Timothée Chalamet had the Oscar buzz for A Complete Unknown even before the release of the film, but sadly, he lost the Best Actor award to Adrien Brody, who starred in The Brutalist. Both of them delivered exceptional performances, but it seems like the award-giving body has a favorite.

On the heels of a chaotic awards season, one lesson is clear from awards show telecasts: stay on linear and watch ratings dwindle, or expand viewership with a livestream component and see ratings rebound.
The 2025 awards season marked a pivotal moment for streaming. The Oscars were live-streamed for the first time on Hulu, the Grammys and Golden Globes already had live-streaming established on Paramount+, and the SAG Awards marked a second year with a Netflix livestream. And the Emmys are gearing up for a cross-platform telecast on CBS and Paramount+ this September.
Though Sunday’s Oscars faced some technological glitches on Hulu, the ceremony’s first-ever livestream boosted the 97th Academy Awards to its biggest audience in five years. The same was true for the Golden Globes, whose combined viewership across CBS and Paramount+ reached the show’s biggest audience since 2020. Amid Amazon's creative takeover of the James Bond film franchise, several stars and directors continue to be linked to the beloved action series as the studio figures out its future. Oscar-winning helmer and Conclave brainchild Edward Berger is one such name, confirming his interest in directing a James Bond entry, though he admits the takeover has "changed" his thought process.
Speaking with Variety on the 97th Academy Awards red carpet, Berger addressed reports he held talks about potentially directing James Bond 26. While denying the talks happened, Berger revealed his interest in making a James Bond film. However, with long-time producer Barbara Broccoli out of the picture, Berger's interest in leading a franchise installment has cooled. “Barbara Broccoli is no longer doing it, and she is at the heart of this project, so I think it’s something different,” Berger said. “I don’t know. Things have changed. We will certainly miss her very much.

HBO's upcoming Harry Potter reboot is one of the most anticipated projects. With an already established fanbase, the series comes with a lot of pressure in terms of casting, storytelling, and universe.
With a premiere date tentatively set for 2026, HBO hasn't revealed any details about the upcoming project. The only known details were Warner Bros. Discovery's pledge for a more accurate depiction of the seven novels in J.K. Rowling's original Harry Potter series, and that critically acclaimed actor John Lithgow will be the new Professor Albus Dumbledore. Per The Hollywood Reporter, the series has received a disappointing update for the movie fans.
Speaking whether the new series will feature any of the original actors, Warner Bros. Discovery's IP exec Sarah Aubrey revealed the executives are looking at new, fresh talent, instead of casting some of the original actors.

It’s a pity Adrien Brody beat Ralph Fiennes to the Oscar. While Brody’s brooding presence in The Brutalist goes a long way in irradiating the aridity of the film, what Ralph Fiennes does in Conclave is something far more momentous. In this discourse on papal politics, Fiennes plays Cardinal Thomas Lawrence, a candidate for popehood after the Pope passes away, leaving the question of his successor in a conundrum.
While the skirmish for succession is no different from what happens when a chief minister of an Indian state passes away, the focus here is on sifting through the layers of protocol to come to the rather sobering conclusion: the rites of religion are as transmogrifying as politics. There are no unbreakable moral and ethical rules in either activity.
Director Edward Berger has earlier directed films in German. Conclave is his first English-language film. But be warned: about twenty...

One of the best war movies ever made, and the best in modern times according to many, is currently on a major streaming platform for fans to enjoy. The Hurt Locker, starring the McU's Jeremy Renner and Anthony Mackie, debuted in 2008 to critical acclaim and became a box-office success.
The Hurt Locker is streaming on Paramount+. Directed by Kathryn Bigelow (Zero Dark Thirty) and written by Mark Boal (who drew on his experience as a journalist embedded with troops and bomb squads during the Iraq War), the war drama follows a bomb disposal team's operations to neutralize improvised explosive devices across hot spots in the Middle East. Deadpool & Wolverine opened with Wade Wilson pulling off some impressive dance moves to the tune of Nsync's "Bye Bye Bye." However, it wasn't Ryan Reynolds in the suit; instead, dancer Nick Pauley took on the role of the McU's "Dancepool."
During Sunday's 97th Academy Awards, host Conan O'Brien performed "I Won't Waste Time" and was accompanied on stage by Dune: Part Two's Sandworm and Deadpool & Wolverine's titular Merc with the Mouth.
The Marvel Studios movie didn't receive a single nomination - much to the chagrin of many comic book fans - but Deadpool's cameo felt like an acknowledgement of what a positive impact the threequel made to theaters in 2024.
Now, Pauley has taken to Instagram to confirm he once again donned the suit for the Oscars. He also credited Ryan Reynolds for advocating that he be the one who hit the stage as "Dancepool."

Mikey Madison was already starting to get a lot of attention thanks to her lead performance in Sean Baker's Anora, but Sunday's surprise Best Actress Oscar win is certain to make the 25-year-old a highly in-demand star in Hollywood.
Major studios are sure to have reached out already, and we're now hearing that Madison could be in line to play a character in an upcoming Marvel Studios project.
We don't have much to go on, but scooper Daniel Richtman is reporting that Madison is "being considered" for an MCU role.
It's always worth keeping in mind that Marvel Studios meets with and reaches out to a lot of talent (it might be quicker to list the people that haven't been up for a part at one point or another), so this is far from a guarantee that Madison is even in talks with the studio.

Adrien Brody won his second Best Actor Oscar at the 97th Academy Awards on Sunday night, but his celebratory moment was overshadowed by a bizarre act that left viewers stunned.

Much like the three-and-a-half hour epic The Brutalist, Adrien Brody’s Oscar-winning speech at the Oscars went on longer than anticipated. Go Behind the Scenes of Alex Garland’s ‘Warfare’ with Will Poulter, Joseph Quinn, and Charles Melton

After “Civil War,” Alex Garland is still staying on the battlefront. The filmmaker next co-directs the upcoming A24 military drama-thriller “Warfare” alongside real-life Navy Seal veteran Ray Mendoza. The duo also both co-wrote the feature.
“Warfare” stars Oscar nominee Charles Melton, plus Kit Connor, Will Poulter, Noah Centineo, and Michael Gandolfini. The film is told in real time and following a platoon of American Navy SEALs as they occupy the home of an Iraqi family during war.
Per an official synopsis, the film “embeds audiences with a platoon of American Navy SEALs in the home of an Iraqi family, over-watching the movement of U.S. forces through insurgent territory. A visceral, boots-on-the-ground story of modern warfare, told like never before: in real time and based on the memory of the people who lived it.”

There’s no question that one of the weirdest moments of the 97th Academy Awards came in the form of a James Bond musical tribute, an unexpected sight that, quite frankly, left those watching baffled and bemused (even Bond star Ralph Fiennes looked politely mortified). With Amazon now in control of the 007 franchise—as jokingly addressed by host Conan O'Brien during the show—fans had been expecting some sort of major announcement about its future, but instead, the segment they were "treated to" was an elaborate musical number featuring performances from Doja Cat, Raye, and Blackpink’s Lisa, which, while undoubtedly ambitious, didn’t exactly connect the way they wanted it.

Can Adrien Brody ever truly own his Oscar?(Photo Credit – theacademy/Instagram)
Adrien Brody may have claimed the Best Actor title at this year’s Oscars, but the golden trophy in his hands? That doesn’t technically belong to him.
Of course, that won’t stop The Brutalist star from proudly displaying it on his mantle, at least for now. After a fierce competition against Timothée Chalamet (A Complete Unknown), Colman Domingo (Sing Sing), Sebastian Stan (The Apprentice), and Ralph Fiennes (Conclave), Brody emerged victorious for his portrayal of László Tóth, an architect striving to rebuild his life in America.
Adrien Brody takes extra time to call out Jew-hate and racism while accepting his second Oscar for Best Actor.
He also deserves the award for Best Humanity at the Oscars.
Thank you, Adrien.
