- DirectorTage DanielssonPer ÅhlinStarsHans AlfredsonFatima EkmanMonica NielsenAn old man at a retirement home remembers his childhood. Made in a blend of feature and animation film.
- DirectorOsamu TezukaEiichi YamamotoStarsChinatsu NakayamaKotoe HatsuiTsubame YanagiyaTo decipher a scheme plotted by enemy aliens, three agents from the future travel to Cleopatra's time, where they witness her romances with Caesar and Mark Antony.
- DirectorRalph BakshiStarsSkip HinnantRosetta LeNoireJohn McCurryIn the late 1960s, a pretentious, womanizing young cat drops out of college, starts a riot in Harlem, hits the road with an ex-girlfriend and gets mixed up with domestic terrorists.A slightly shabby effort (when compared to its own sequel) and although it's structure feels episodic, each of these sequences are terrific, some of which prove Bakshi's place as the Godfather of (adult) animation. This is more than the sum of its parts, this is a great reflection of the counter-culture movement as the '70s began to invade, another film that shows in its own singular manner the death of the late '60s idealism. Groovy!
- DirectorRalph BakshiStarsJoseph KaufmannBeverly Hope AtkinsonFrank DeKovaAn underground cartoonist contends with life in the inner city, where various unsavory characters serve as inspiration for his art.A tragicomedy cartoon filled with juvenile sex, gratuitous violence, racial stereotypes across the block, and the best Michael Corleone in film history? Again, Bakshi's version of New York and the crazy characters that inhabit it are wonderfully eccentric, and Bakshi juggles a great mix of crude humour and poignant personal self-examination.
- DirectorGiorgio TerziStarsRosetta CalavettaGermana DominiciVittorio StagniLittle Dick, the well-endowed dwarf servant of Master Limpcock is being pursued Nymphomania, an ugly witch who must have 69 orgasms to turn herself beautiful again.
- DirectorRobert TaylorStarsSkip HinnantReva RoseBob HoltNow living on welfare with a wife and kitten, Fritz retreats from the domestic hell surrounding him by embarking on a series of marijuana-fueled fantasies of what his life could have been.As close to a drug-trip as it is to get from just sound and images. One particular amazing sequence of this reminded me of the StarGate scene from 2001, but this version has a jazzier soundtrack. Daring, fearless, stereotypical, and featuring perhaps my favourite cartoon character ever, the main cat himself. As funny and as counter-culture as this gets, there's a strong underlying poignancy at times in regards to New York's political and social state.
- DirectorCharles SwensonStarsHoward KaylanMark VolmanRobert RidgelyMild-mannered insurance-adjuster Willard teams up with a foul-mouthed fowl who takes him on a surreal quest to become less uptight--and possibly get laid. This film is as crude as its animation, yet both are so imaginative and coolly stylised. The early scenes with Willard seem generally well-mannered and even a bit too tame, but when the duck comes in, the film takes a wonderful nose-dive into lewd animated weirdness, with some later scenes (especially what becomes of Willard and Duck's relationship) being really funny for all the most inappropriate reasons. Starts off wonky, but certainly gets better, funnier, and more confident with itself as it goes along, even when it gets to its abrupt ending. The surreal animated sequences show their lack of budget, but are still cool and add to the nonsensical plotline this film follows.
On a more serious note, this film also laments on 'cheap' and what that means for a country or for an individual -- our main man lives a cheap life harassed by people he doesn't like or respect, but the ending seems to show some sort of positive conclusion involving transsexuality (if you can make out what the hell is going on). - DirectorRalph BakshiStarsBarry WhiteCharles GordoneScatman CrothersRabbit, a country-born trickster, takes over the organized crime racket in Harlem, facing opposition from the institutionalized racism of the Mafia and corrupt police. They sure as *beep* couldn't make a film like this anymore. Which is a shame because any racist intentions this film feel too hyperbolic to be taken seriously anyway. The mix between animation and live-action is pretty neat (especially for its time) and although the storyline feels kinda contrived, it's still a cool trip, man.
- DirectorPichaBoris SzulzingerStarsBernard DhéranClaude BertrandRoger CarelShame, the ape man of the jungle, sets off to rescue his woman, June, when a gang of giant penises kidnaps her.has everything you'd want from an adult animated flick in a time before the PC cops put their foot down -- overly sexual (yet sometimes disturbingly creative) and incredibly lewd images, overly violent, overly coarse, and featuring incredibly loose sexual and racial politics. This is what The Lion King should've been like.
- DirectorJordi AmorósStarsManuel VázquezAnimation film based in some stories of the better illustrators and humorists of Spain during the democratic transition, on seventies: Chumy Chumez, Perich, Oscar, Ja, Fer, Ivà. They are quotidian stories about: love, death, sex and violence.
- DirectorPichaStarsRichard DarboisGeorges AminelRoger CarelAdult animated comedy with rock music soundtrack portraying a far-fetched explanation of the Dawn of Man.
- DirectorRalph BakshiStarsRichard RomanusDavid ProvalJesse WellesAn outrageous, affectionate look at coming of age in Eisenhower-era Brooklyn.Close, but no cigar to Bakshi's masterworks, but he has worse in his filmography and this is definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of the man -- uncompromising, often brutal, yet exaggerated and violently comical portrayal of the '50s (apparently the way they really were). There's plenty of shabbiness to let this down, in animation and characterisation/story development, but this still rings out as a compelling tale of da yoof of this time and era.
- DirectorBéla TernovszkyStarsMiklós BenedekGyula BodrogiIlona BéresAn agent delivers plans to save mice from a feline syndicate dedicated to eradicating rodents.
- DirectorJuan PadrónStarsFrank GonzálezManuel MarínIrela BravoA vampire family from Cuba is preparing for a showdown between the USA vampires and the Eastern European vampires. But with the aid of a scientist, they need a type of vaccination where they can live in daylight.
- DirectorPichaStarsLuis RegoGeorges AminelPerrette PradierSex farce about Fred, an inept post WWIII superhero garbageman, who must prevent WW4 by disarming the continents of Virginia, where mutated feminists live, and USSSR, where mutated buttless men live. Beautiful Liberty is his only ally. It's obviously lewd and crude, and because of its wild abandon, doesn't make much sense some of the time. But it's a wild fun film mostly because of its ridiculous story about the last society on earth that has men and women segregated, which obviously has plenty of jokes mined from it. This fantastical setting makes for plenty of far-out visual jokes that extend an awe-inspiring amount of bad taste.
- DirectorClive A. SmithStarsDon FrancksPaul Le MatGreg SalataA malevolent rock star kidnaps a singer to force her to participate in the summoning of a demon, and her band must help her stop him.
