When I sat down to watch the 2015 comedy "Girlfriends' Getaway 2", I have to admit that I thought that I was in for another movie from Maverick Entertainment. But luckily that was not the case.
Sure, I had never heard about "Girlfriends' Getaway 2" prior to watching it, and that is why I opted to give the movie a fair chance.
And without having ever watched the 2014 movie "Girlfriends' Getaway", I don't know if I was missing out on something to make the sequel a more coherent movie.
I have to say that for a comedy, then writer Cas Sigers-Beedles "Girlfriends' Getaway 2" managed to put together a script and storyline that was surprisingly devoid of funny moments. I didn't laugh a single time throughout the course of the 83 minutes that the movie ran for.
The only face on the screen that I was familiar with was actress Garcelle Beauvais. The acting performances in the movie were fair, I will say that.
A watchable movie, for sure, but "Girlfriends' Getaway 2" was by no means a memorable viewing experience. Nor is it a movie that I will ever return to watch a second time.
I am sure that there is an audience out there for a semi-sappy romantic movie such as this. I just didn't find it particularly impressive.
My rating of director Roger M. Bobb's 2015 movie "Girlfriends' Getaway 2" lands on a four out of ten stars.
