- Haruhi Fujioka (Haruna Kawaguchi) is a female high school student the prestigious Ouran Academy. Unlike most of the students who come from wealthy families, Haruhi Fujioka comes from a modest family background and entered the school with an academic scholarship. One day, she wanders around the campus and stumbles by accident into the school's "host club". The host club consists of six handsome male students who entertain female students. In the room, Haruhi unintentionally breaks an antique vase worth 8 million YEN. To repay for the broken vase, the six male members of the host club makes Haruhi join them - not realizing that Haruhi is actually a girl.
- Nagasato Daisuke is a 39-year old bachelor with an extremely negative attitude towards marriage. However, he truly believes that he'd "rather be alone." Averse to taking the risk of bringing in other people into his living space, he protects it as if it was his castle, and is fully enjoying his idiosyncratic single life. Kumagai Hanako, on the other hand, is a 32-year old divorcee who works for a major trading firm. She has her own distinct thoughts about being single, doesn't want to get married again, and already planning for her life after retirement. When these two meet, they fight constantly, but they're actually similar in a lot ways.
- Following her parents' divorce Ann and her mother move to her maternal grandmother's house in Shimane Prefecture. Adding to the stress is how they are not integrating well at their new home. Ann's mother commits suicide. The consolation for Ann is school-mate Daigo who is loving and helpful, but that is soon to be taken away due to the new distance between them. They grow older and drift apart, but there is still love there when they do reunite.
- University students Sugishita Nozomi, Naruse Shinji, Ando Nozomi and Nishizaki Masato end up coming upon the scene of the murder of the Noguchi couple, because of a plan they had devised. Nishizaki is arrested at the scene and is given a 10-year prison term because of his voluntary confession. 10 years later, Takano Shigeru, a former police officer who has misgivings about the verdict of this case, starts to pursue the truth. He is convinced that it all began as a result of an incident caused by Nozomi and Naruse on an island in the Seto Inland Sea on the summer 15 years ago. "They committed a crime at that time. It was for the sake of each N."
- Mei, Kai and Yui are high school students who also act as undercover agents and detectives dispatched to missions. The Tokyo police requests their assistance when a threat against the popular idol band Morning Musume has been received. They are dispatched to be with the band and guard them at their concert. All is well until one of the school girls disappears.
- The series focuses on Ayukawa Noriko, the teacher of a class of first-graders. One day, a boy named Kento transfers into her class from another school, where he was treated as a problem child. In reality, the inquisitive Kento actually displays the potential of being a prodigy, and it's up to Noriko to figure out how to handle him.
- Akiho Takeda is assigned to #3 investigation team for The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. On her first day at work, a burglary takes place at a jewelry store in Shibuya. The case though is taken by the #1 investigation team which Akiho hoped to join. Nevertheless, Akiho goes secretly to the jewelry store where the theft took place. Later, a safe at a jewelry store in Roppongi is broken into. Stolen from the safe is the diamond called "Besu". The "Besu" is one of three diamonds that makes up the "Kuraida Family's Three Sisters". The other two diamonds are "Ani" and "Kyasari". The diamond "Ani" was stolen from the jewelry store in Shibuya, that occurred a few days earlier. Several people believe the two diamond thefts were done by the same person(s), but Akiho mentions the techniques used by thieves are different. Yet, Akiho believes there must be a connection between the two cases.
- Hiroshi Tsukiyama (Atsushi Ito) works as a salesman for a company. One day, a female colleague is sexually harassed by her boss and Hiroshi Tsukiyama sees the harassment but he ignores it. A mysterious man Choyaku Tsuchida (Shigeru Saiki) appears in front of Hiroshi Tsukiyama. He takes Hiroshi Tsukiyama to a secret club "Oh My Jump." The club is for adults who are fans of manga magazine "Weekly Shonen Jump" and they gather there to talk about their favorite titles and characters.
- Former pro boxer Gondo Tetta has come to Kaki-no-ki-zaka High School as a beginning teacher. The school hopes to restore finances by improving the students' abilities and strengthening its baseball team. Tetta goes head-to-head with his class full of failing students who have no ability whatsoever in sports and studies. Everyday, he passionately encourages his students who have no drive at all. School is not just a place to study. It's a place to learn how to live. If it means helping out his students, Tetta won't hesitate to snap at the parents and school. Gondo Tetta's slightly dangerous class is about to begin.
- Aki Takano is a homemaker who has built an ordinary yet amply content family life. However, she meets her creepy and scary neighbors. Behind the walls of this ivory tower, life is a social ecosystem dictated by strict rules and decorum of vainglorious housewife residents. There are "compulsory Halloween parties", "hellishly exorbitant lunches", "floor discrimination", and even "strictly enforced proper attire for putting out the trash." Though farcical and comical at first glance, the housewives' behavior easily becomes sinister, as Aki begins to discover in unexpected ways. Someone is trying to tear her life and family apart.
